Installing upgrade frpm CS5 to CS6

I have a new computer and have installed CS5. I also have the upgrade to CS6 which was on my old computer. However when I try to install the upgrade I get a message that the program can't find a qualifying item. I have chosen CS5 from a drop down list and entered the serial number but I still get the same message. Both installed easily on my old computer. How do I get round this?

after entering your cs6 upgrade serial number and selecting cs5 from the dropdown, you will then be prompted for the cs5 serial number. make sure you enter the correct number at the proper time.

Multiple problems installing upgrade from CS5 Design Prem. to CS6 Design Prem.

I had started a thread a few days ago regarding problems that I was having while installing my upgrade from CS5 Design Premium to CS6 Design Premium. Everything seemed to install fine with the exception of Acrobat X Pro. http://forums.adobe.com/message/4716847#4716847
I thought that I had resolved the issue through tech support, but apparently not. First of all, they had me install the trial version of Acrobat X which actually let me install with no errors. A couple of days passed and Acrobat asked if I would like to continue my trial or enter a serial number. I tried to use my serial that came with my upgrade but it rejected it, so I opted to continue the trial. Then earlier today as I was working in InDesign, upon launching I got a script error message.

After clicking OK it seemed to open InDesign fine and I was able to open files and go about working. While working I noticed that I had no effects in the dropdown menu under 'Object'. Tried the shortcut for them and nothing happened. I have yet to try to open any files containing effects (drop shadow or something) but am guessing that they will not work. My next course of action was to try to Uninstall and Re-Install. I removed CS6 and Acrobat X Pro from my computer and ran the Creative Suite Cleaner program. Then instead of installing the upgrade from the DVD, I decided to download the program from the Adobe LWS and give that a go thinking that maybe the download files are more up-to-date than the DVD that I recieved. Now it seems I am back to square one with the same problems (InDesign missing 'Effects' and who knows what else, and Acrobat X Pro failed to install), but this time I have diffent errors on the "error summary file" that shows up as a link in the "Installation Complete" dialog box. Sorry for being windy, but I really need to get this resolved. Thanks for any and all input. PC is Dell Precision T3500 running Windows 7 and is current on it's updates.

Upgrading Photoshop CS5 to CS6

I have just downloaded PS CS6 as an upgrade to CS5. Do I need to uninstall CS5 first before installing CS6? Will I need to keep the disk for CS5 if I need to re-install CS6 if I upgrade my computer?

No. CS6 will install into its own folder. You can keep using CS5 and CS6.

Not the disk. Just the CS5 serial number. Keep all serial numbers very safe and handy for future reference.
When you reinstall CS6 (new computer or re-build the old one) just install the CS6 upgrade disk (even if no Adobe product has ever been installed on that computer).
The CS6 installer will ask you for the CS6 serial and will recognise that it's an upgrade. It will then ask you to enter a serial from an earlier qualifying version. Enter your CS5 serial number and the CS6 will complete the install.

How to Upgrade AE CS5 to CS6

So I've convinced my boss to buy me an upgrade - thing is our network guys aren't going to let me get CC until Adobe can resolve some of it's authentication issues.
I currently have CS5. I downloaded and installed a trial of Master CS6. They've bought me Production Prem CS6. I'm on Mac Mavericks.
Not sure how this works now. I'll need to hold on to InDesign and Dreamweaver CS5. So my question is - should I just wipe the HD and start over? Or can I just authorize the Pro Prem set and uninstall the CS6 programs that don't come with the Pro Prem? On windows I would totally start over - but this mac seems to be handling CS5 and CS6 stuff side by side...

Different version, different license, separate installs. This has never been any different - neither Windows nor Mac. There is no requirement, at least from a technical POV, to jump hoops. "Clean installs" are an urban myth, anyway.

I'm looking at getting some new pcs this week, and want to upgrade my copies of cs5 to cs6. Are these valid for a free upgrade to cc or should I wait until cc is released to go from cs5 to cc then?

You can upgrade from the CS5 to Creative cloud. Currently CS6 application are being provided over Creative cloud website however once CC will be launched you will be able to get the CC application from Creative cloud website and can install/use them.

Upgrade From CS5 To CS6 Problems With Flash Graphics?

Hi People.
I upgraded from Adobe CS5 to CS6. I originally built a printable book and developed an interactive version in InDesign CS5, which I finally exported to Flash. For the printed version I used Adobe illustrator to create the book images and for the interactive version I converted the images into SWF.
The upgrade from Adobe CS5 to CS6 went well for the InDesign printed version of the book and I exported the new CS6 version of the printed book to PDF. However when I opened the old InDesign CS5 interactive version of the book in InDesign CS6 I was missing the links for the images.
When I tried to relink the images I was told `Cannot place this file. No filter found for requested operation:.
Please please help me because I am 2000 images in the new CS6 interactive version and short of going back and replacing each one individually, I am at a loss.

Yes I can place the old SWF file into a new CS6 document and that works well, but I`m talking about 3 books of a total of nearly 10,00 images, which is a lot of time of replacing old for new,
Maybe I`ll stick with the interactive books staying in CS5 because I can`t see any material benefit of upgrading them to CS6, unless they were to be EPuped from their present CD Rom format?
However I do think it is a dreadfull oversight of Adobe not to stop me be penalized in a large slice of my profession, interactive second language book production, for the good intent of upgrading my CS Master Suite,

Keywords lost in upgrading from cs5 to cs6

Hi,
Recently, I upgraded from Photoshop CS5 to CS6, including Bridge.
A very bad surprise was to find that the keyword system that I had developed and used to assign kewords to new pictures was no longer there.
Apparently, this very important "personal setting" was not transferred in the upgrade procedure.
What can I do to retrieve it?
What is the filename in which Bridge keeps the keywords?
Perhaps I could find it on my system or some backup.
Or, if that won't work: I notice that when opening an old picture its kwds appear in the kwd panel, although in italics. and not in the hierarchical fashion they should.
However, retrieving my kwds this way would be a terible task if I have to open each of thousands of pictures one by one.
Is there a batch kind of way to do this, that retrieves the kwds from all pix in a folder with subfolders?

Thanks all for considering my problem and for the advice!
I was away from these matters for a while, now I'm back on it.
First let me mention that I did indeed find a program for looking into the big .MIG file.
But alas, the keywords file was not there, don't know why (thus it didn't matter to me that extraction of files from the .MIG didn't seem to work.)
Thus I was ready to follow the advice you guys gave me from the beginning, to recreate the keyword list from the image files. I made some use of the suggested Find / Keyword, chosing a particular keyword or just "exists" for a folder.
But I soon found out that my keyword structure needed several improvements, and thus I gave up simply hitting Make Persist.
Instead I am working my way on smaller chunks of files -- feels worth the trouble.
To make this work more efficient, it would be useful if there were a way to prevent Bridge from starting to immediately writing changes to the files on disk, doing it over and over again for each keyword I assign or remove.
Would be much better if I could make all changes in, say, a folder and then ask Bridge to write the changes to disk.
Do you know if there is an option to stop the immediate writing of changes?
I vaguely seem to remember I'v read about it, but now I can't find any such opotion.
(maybe this should be posted as a new question?)

Do I have to upgrade from fusion 3 to 4 now that I have upgraded cs5 to cs6?
And do you know if extensis offers student discounts? I can't find anything on the 'net or their site, but I thought I'd ask here too before I buy the upgrade for (ugh) $50.
I thought maybe I would open the files in cs5 first, to auto-activate the fonts, then close, then reopen in cs6. Kind of a hassle, but it saves me a bit of green…

Error trying to purchase upgrade for CS5.5 - CS6 production premium

Hi all,
I have been trying to purchase the upgrade for CS5.5 production premium to CS6 production premium without much succes.
When I try to checkout I get an error message that adobe can't continue or I need to retry again.
Ofcourse I'm posting this because I have tried and tried again.
I live in Suriname -South America.
We don't speak spanish btw but dutch incase you maybe wondering why I'm not visiting the spanish or latin site.
I purchased the software from B&H online from the USA . It's the boxed version.
After I received it, I immediately registered it. Now I would like to upgrade.
So for now I'm not sure what the problem maybe .
But I hope to hear from someone who may assist me asap. If you need anymore info about me just let me know.

Upgrading from CS3 to CC. Should I upgrade to CS5 or CS6 first to be sure my older files will still function?

No need for that. Older files will always open.
(The other way around can sometimes be more difficult, in case of new features that weren't there in the old PS version. But that too usually works with the "maximize compatibility" option checked).

I am using CS5 now and am wondering how big of a performance and overall improvement I will find by upgrading to CS6? I am not moving to the CC so I thought I might do one last hurrah, but only if it offers some decent advantages.
Your input on the move from AE CS5 to CS6 based on user experience would be appreciated. I am on Windows 7. Thanks
