Installing & Upgrading iTunes 8.1.1 for Windows
When installing the new iTunes I get an error that states "Invalid Drive: s:\"
My PC does dont have nor has it ever had a s drive. I have tried to upgrade through iTunes and directly from the web site.
I am hesitant to uninstall the current version and start from scratch for obvious reasons.
Any ideas on what the problem is other than I am using a PC with Windows?
I'm having my own problems with 8.1.1 but at least I can think of places to look regarding yours.
Is it possible your iPod/iPhone/iWhatever becomes drive S: when attached? (No idea why it would need to be attached while installing.
Did you have a drive S: (e.g. a thumb drive, a USB drive) attached when you last installed?
You can use Drive Manager (right-click My Computer and select Manage) to see what drive letter your iWhatever uses when connected.

Could someone tell me why I can’t install iTunes 10.5.2?
I even fellow the trouble shooting from iTunes page by uninstall the older version of iTunes. Now I can’t even link my iPhone or iPad now. Please advise me on what is missing in my computer for costing this issue. Thanks for all your supports.

Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time? -
iTunes 11.2.2 for Windows x64 will not successfully install. Removed prior iTunes, and still will not install. 10.7 installs just fine, but constantly asks to upgrade to 11.2.2. Any Thoughts?

The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if one component won't install normally.
If needs be, the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility (MS Installer "Fixit") may be able to help force through the installation.

ITunes 11.1.4 for windows has installation or upgrade problems
anyone knows why iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows cannot be upgraded and it always hit problem with the message "MobileDevice Services cannot be started....." when the upgrade or installation of iTunes 11.1.4 aborted half way with the message. I tried downloading manually the iTunes 11.1.4 for windoes package from Apple website and tried performing the installation or upgrade manually form my Windows computer. But it failed everytime with the same error message "MobileDevice Services cannot be started...." I tried on two different Windows computers (one laptop on Windows Vista and the one Desktop on Windows 7) and they all failed also. Please help if anyone knows what is wrong. Thanks.
BTW, after the failed upgrade or installation of iTunes 11.1.4 for windows, I cannot use iTunes anymore with the following error message "This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." But reinstalling iTunes 11.1.4 always failed. So I am in a catch-22 situation. no way to proceed with iTunes on my Windows computers.

Having issues installing iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows 7 (64 bit).
Issues installing iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows 7 (64 bit). This install clobbered my previous version of iTunes. Error message is "service Apple Mobile Device failed to start". Cannot start the service manually even though I am the administrator of the machine. There is obviously some conflict that was recently introduced by a Windows update or in the Apple installation. I have tried removing iTunes and the AMDS (the Apple mobile device service) and reinstalling with the same error message.
Thanks for any suggestions you can provide!
MarilynHey there Marylin,
It sounds like you are unable to start iTunes due to this error message even after uninstalling the iTunes application and the Apple Mobile device. I would recommend uninstalling not just those 2 applications but iTunes and ALL its associated applications with the following article:

Installed iTunes 10.2.1 for Windows (64-bit), Error 7 Windows 998
Hello
After updating iTunes 10.2.1 for Windows (64-bit)I am getting the dreaded iTunes was not installed correctly, Please reinstall iTunes. With error 7 (Windows error 998) popups.
Tried already all the known uninstall/install/repair suggestions. Tried runnng as administrator or changing permissions. Tried disabling Bonjour Service.
Until now nothing has repaired it.
Is there a way to fix this? Can it be an Adobe update?
Is there a way to get an older version?I had the same problem. I tried doing a system restore to a day or 2 before i did the update. The restore was successful but the itunes problem remained. After that I went into the control panel, selected itunes and clicked the repair tab.
It now works fine for me. The only other step I took was to copy my itunes folder into another location in case anything went wrong. Once the repair was complete I simply replaced the new empty itunes folder with my previous one.
Hope this is of some help. -
I tried to install iTunes 10.6.1 for Windows (64 bit) and it says "A required iTunes component is not installed. Please repair or reinstall iTunes. (-42404). I have tried uninstalling everything and reinstalling and it still does not work. I then restored my computer to a week ago and tried to download and install the update and this came up again.

windows 7 64 bit will not install itunes..it tries to install and keeps telling quick time for windows did not properly install any help?
Hi Tamekia,
I am sorry to hear nothing has worked yet. I have looked up some additional information and possible solutions. Follow the steps in this document to perform a level-three uninstall, register the Windows Installer Service, and then reinstall the HP software. An uninstall and reinstall of the software deletes and overwrites any of the files that might cause the error and resets the Windows Installer. HP recommends that you download the latest software from the HP Web site to remove any files that might be causing this error.
Level-three uninstall, and register the Windows Installer Service

ITunes 11.1.4 for Window 64x cannot be installed.
Pop-up Window display: cannot start Apple Mobile Device, but I checked Services (Local), status is started. I cannot update iTunes through Apple Update, so I uninstall the older version of iTunes and download the latest version; then I run installer and the former pop-up window appears. Please help to solve the problem. I also encounter runtime error R6034.
Hello there,
It sounds like you are wanting to be able to install iTunes again, but are getting error messages when you try to install it. I would try the steps outlined in the following article named:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open

It will involve uninstalling all of the associated applications for iTunes as well for a clean install.

every time i try to install itunes on my laptop for windows i get the message''key not valid for use in specified state'' any clue?
For "Key not valid for use in specified state" errors try moving the folder RSA from C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA to say C:\<User>\RSA (just in case there should be a need to restore it) then try installing again. This folder appears to act as a cache and should be rebuilt automatically as required.

TS5376 is there a fix for iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows installation problem?
I tried the fix in "TS5376: iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open" but problem remains. We have the same issue on my dauther's PC (Windows 7 also). iTunes can't open and configure correctly.
Hey MichelHebert,
When you uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, did you follow these steps below? This section contains information that might help your situation, as the order and manner which you uninstall has an effect on the outcome:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
from: Step 1 of Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Let us know if uninstalling those components in that order helped the situation.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
Best of luck,

I can't download itunes 10.3.1 for Windows 7 64 bit
I can't download itunes 10.3.1 for Windows 7 64 bit.
I tried the suggestion to delete existing iTunes before installing the updated version.
I receive a message that a file is in use when I try to delete iPOD.
I started Task Manager to stop services for iTunes as suggested but it is not listed.
How do I install iTunes 10.3.1 for Windows 7 - 64 bit?I got the same message about the network resource that I can't access. The only difference is that I couldn't install Itunes 10.3 because I can't remove the old version of Bonjour. I couldn't get rid of anything in add/remove programs, but I went into my program folders and deleted everything that had to do with Itunes. I also ran a Windows Cleanup Utiltiy. Nothing will work. I still can't remove Itunes, Bonjour, Quicktime, MobileMe Control Panel, Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Application Support, or Apple Software Update in add/remove programs because they are on a network resource that I can't access even though I deleted them from the program folders. This is very frustrating!
