Installing used copy of ilife 06 with iphoto

Hello! I want to get ilife 06 with iphoto and I was looking for it on ebay. Will I beable to install a used copy of ilife to my computer or can a used copy not be installed because of registering issues?
Thank you!

shannon7
The licence for iLife states once copy of the software on one machine. Assuming the Vendor has removed v6 from his/her machine, there will be no licence issues. There is no registration issue.

  • Can I use iMovie 09 but stay with iPhoto 08???

    Hello,
QUESTION: Can I install iLife '09 but still keep iPhoto '08 and use iPhoto '08 instead of iPhoto '09 but use the other iLife '09 programs??
BACKGROUND: I am installing Leopard (after much delay...) and I believe iMovie '09 (part of iLife '09) has a timeline and more features (vs iMovie '08) plus easier to use etc. So I think I want to make my first projects with my 8 hours of vacation videos via my Canon FS100 using iMovie 09 - can put in chapters and such, too I believe.
BUT in trialing iPhoto 09 on another computer, I see that for now at least, I don't want the geographic info / the faces etc. and kinda prefer to stay with iPhoto '08 for now with my 25,000 photos over the past 5 years...
    *Is that possible to do?-*
    Thanks for any comments--
    Regards,
    Steve
    Friday 20 February 2009

Thanks for the fast and informative reply!
    1. iPhoto 09: This converts all the iPhoto Library photos to another format not recognized by iPhoto 08. OK I have several copies on several LaCie external HD's - but I'm wondering if my 30 gb 2008 iPhoto library will now turn into 50 gb in iPhoto 09???
    2. Speed: I've been afraid that on my 3 year old MB iPhoto 09 may run much slower than iPhoto '08. You say not much performance hit - but I enjoy fast-- and next Mac (will that be #15 in 20 years?!- at least!!) likely to be a MB Pro - or maybe the fastest desktop I can afford?!?
    3. I'm not using FaceBook / Flickr at this time - just MobileMe
iMovie 09: I hope one can insert chapters! Would not want to have to go via HDiMovie06 / garageband to do this-- hey, I've got everything downloaded, but haven't made a single movie / DVD yet! Really I'd like to just get about an hour or two of my 8 hours onto a DVD that looks OK - for a first "YES!" - would you say iMovie '09 is going to be easier to "master" than 08?
Thanks very much!! -- and if anyone can let me know if iPhoto 08 / iPhoto 09 can exist together - and if so, how to do this during installation - cuz it seems iPhoto 09 deletes previous iPhotos...

  • Using Adobe Bridge file structure with iPhoto (latest version)

I use Adobe Bridge and have all my pics in named folders in Pictures/PICS/Folder Names.  Inside the PICS folder is the iPhoto Library (only a few pics in it).  Is there any way I can use the file structure I have set up with Bridge and iPhoto (latest) simultaneously?  I really dont want to import (copy) all my pics into IPhot because I am pretty sure I will end up with two versions of each.  I havent been able to manage pics manually the way I like to in older versions of iPhoto.

Here's some info to help you setup Photoshop for use with iPhoto:
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note 1: screenshots are from PSE 10
Note:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

  • Installing used copy of Final Cut Studio 2

    Hello,
I've been reading around the net and haven't been able to find a very clear answer as to what happens when you buy and install a used copy of Final Cut Studio. I understand that the program can be sold as soon as it is completely uninstalled from the seller's machine, but it's what happens after that on the buyer's machine that I am dealing with.
It is important to note that I am dealing with full versions of the program, not upgrades (nor do I have to option to consider them in my situation).
    These are my questions;
    1. When the buyer (me) installs the seller's used copy of Final Cut Studio 2 will I be able to install the program on both a desktop & laptop like when the suite is new (this is vital because I am getting a new laptop and need studio on both machines)?
    2. If (for some unknown reason) the seller's used copy of FCS2 doesn't install, can I install FCS HD without any problems?
    3. If for some reason FCS2 isn't completely uninstalled from the seller's machine will it impede my installation process of FCS2?
Any info you can give me in regard to any of these questions would be greatly appreciated. It is a bit time sensitive (not that I have a deadline but I need to do this asap) so immediate responses would be amazing.
    Thanks,
    ~ JoeA

Thank you for your quick response David!
    1. Great! Glad that worked out.
    2. When I say FCS 2 I mean the suite that came with Final Cut Pro 6, DVD Studio Pro 4, Motion 3, LiveType 2, Soundtrack Pro 2, Color, Compressor 3. I'm pretty sure it will play nicely with a new intel machine.
When I say FCS HD I mean the suite that came with Final Cut Pro (5.1.4), DVD Studio Pro, Motion 2, and Soundtrack Pro, and Compressor 2. This version (5.1) was made to work with intel machines.
    3. Thank you also for providing the link! I definitely want to make sure this is legal.
    Much appreciated

  • HT2638 I am using OSX 10.8.5 with iPhoto 11. I have damaged my iPhoto library and am unable to open up my library with iPhoto. When I use 'open package contents' with the library, I can see that all my photos are there. Can I rebuild the events?

I have tried the option + command button while opening iPhoto but this has not helped.

Your next step would be tp try rebuild with iPhoto Library Manager and its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Using PSE13 as external editor with iPhoto w/MAC OS

Upgraded from PSE12 to 13 and now unable to use PSE13 as an external editor with iPhoto on a MAC OS V 10.9.  Have reinstalled and no change.  Preferences in 13 differ from help for older versions.

Are you sure you are choosing the correct file? In recent versions adobe has hidden the actual editor away in the Support Files folder in the PSE folder. The file at the top level is just an alias for the welcome screen. You want this file:

  • Anyone use the Panasonic DMC-ZS7 with iPhoto?

I'm thinking of getting the Panasonic DMC-ZS7 camera, which has a built-in GPS. Out of the new compact cameras with built-in GPS, this seems to have the best built-in GPS support. Before I get it, I just want to confirm that the GPS data it writes to the EXIF header can be used by iPhoto correctly. I use iPhoto '09 (8.1.2).
Has anyone used the ZS7 with iPhoto?

I recently turned the GPS function on. I am unsure if GPS is the problem, but the spinning busy next to the "Places" menu item certainly points that direction.
I would actually argue the opposite, that the spinning busy means that iPhoto can read the GPS data correctly. The fact that it is trying to determine places would indicate that it sees GPS data. More likely the spinning busy is due to something after getting the GPS data like trying to look up actual place info online to get names or downloading maps or something of that sort.

  • Installed Quark 8 Help Apication conflict with iPhoto

Previously when I had a movie, in iPhoto (8) I clicked on the movie and it open in Quicktime player. I installed an upgrade to Quark 8 about a week ago. Today, uploaded some movies from my digital camera, when I clicked on oner of the movies in iPhoto to play movie, INSTEAD, the Quark 8 Help application opened up???
I trashed the Quark 8 Help Application, emptied the Trash and clicked on one of the movies again, same result. Maybe it's opening up a duplicate copy of the Quark 8 Help Application backed up by Time Machine.
I was able to select SHOW FILE when using my Mighty Mouse, which opened up the movie files in a Finder window, and then, again using my Mighty Mouse, was able to select OPEN WITH default application - Quicktime.
But this is all very unusual. I'm pretty sure Apple will say it's a Quark issue. And Quark will say it's an Apple issue.
Really, I'd just like to get things back to normal. Anyone have a similar experience? In fact, has anyone else upgraded to the new Quark 8. It is pretty cool.

Yes. Although I just haven't had time to try this, I did get this response from Quark.
    Dear Randy,
    Thank you for the reply.
I apologize for the inconvenience faced by you but we are already aware of the issue. Our R&D people are still looking into this matter.
However we can perform the following steps as workaround:-
If we remove the QuarkXPress help file the videos are opened correctly in QuickTime. The help file is located in HDD>Applications>QuarkXPress folder.
You can also archive the help folder and then delete the original one.
I’ll get back to you as soon as I receive any definitive information regarding this issue.

  • Using an external hard drive with iPhoto

I stored my pictures on an external hard drive, but since they were in iPhoto format I have to import all of them to my computer just to view them.  Is there a way to fix this, or will I just have to keep the pictures as jpegs?  *I was hoping that I could use iPhoto to load and view pictures periodically while storing them on the external hard drive, rather than relying on Finder and Preview

iPhoto isn’t a photo format. If the drive contains a volume formatted as Mac OS Extended, which can be a partition or disk image, launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and either create a library on that volume or choose one already there.

  • How to use WD My Book Studio with iPhoto?

I have a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.6.8.  I'm out of hard disk space so I purchased a 3 Terabyte Western Digital My Book Studio, connected to MacBook via Firewire 800.  I intend to move all my photos to the WD drive and delete them from the MacBook.  How do I do so and preserve the file structure on as it appears in iPhoto?  Is this possible?  The last thing I want is thousands of photos on the WD drive with no clue which "event" they belong to.
Secondly, my MacBook Pro is backed up continuously to a Time Capsule via Time Machine.  How do I set things up so that the WD My Book Studio is backed up as well?

Thanks.  That sounds easy but ... I tested by dragging 1 event w/ 16 photos over to the My Book Studio.  Then deleted the event from iPhoto on the MacBook.  Opened iPhoto with option as you said but can't select the My Book Studio as an option.  When I try I just the the photos listed out individually, not a library.
I'm guessing this is because I copied the photos but not the whole library?  What's the best way to do that, from the username folder drag the whole thing?

  • Can I use my iPhone ´09 library with iPhoto '08?

I need to install Tiger because my powerPc is too slow with Leopard. However I have a lot of photos in iPhoto ´09. Can I somehow export this for the old iPhoto version?

There is no way for iPhoto 08 to access the 09 Library. You would need to export the pics from iPhoto 09 and create a new 08 library and then import the pics again. Basically, you'll be starting over from scratch.

  • Using Sony GPS-CS1 with iPhoto 9

    Hello all
Just a query, if anyone has any tips for using a Sony GPS-CS1 with iPhoto 9?
I have several files I would like to sync with images. I would also like to create the tracks that the unit does on a map as well?
I have recently been using the bootcamp method with windows but find this a pain as relly like using iPhoto which is where my library is.
I would appreciate any help anyone can give on using this technology.
    Thanks in advance
    Stephen

looking at their web page I see no Mac support. If the device creates a standard format GPS data file then HoudahGeo - http://www.houdah.com/houdahGeo/ - would be able to associate the GPS data with the photos
for a map you must create a book - or use an external program like Google Earth exporting the photos for use with it

  • SL clean install.... iMovieHD won't install because I have ilife '09

I did a clean install of SL.
    I reinstalled several app.
I installed my copy of ilife '09 and all was good.
Until I realized that I forgot to install iMovieHD.
So I opened my downloaded copy of iMovieHD.
    But it would not install.
Instead I got a warning message saying
"iMovie HD cannot be installed on this system.
Please install iLife ’08 before installing iMovie HD 6."
    Really?!?
I have to downgrade to ilife 08 (to get imovieHD then upgrade back to ilife '09?
Is there not a file I can create .plist or something....
That will fool the computer and allow me to have iMovieHD 6 back?

I Googled on "install imovie hd 6 snow leopard" and turned up many threads, etc., that I think you would be interested in. Some deal with exactly your issue. Good luck.

  • Can I install only iPhoto 7 and continue to use my other iLife '06 apps?

My mac Mini does not meet all of the system requirements for iLife '08. Can I install only iPhoto 7 and still use my old iLife apps like iMovie?

Here's a link to the iPhoto support page http://www.apple.com/support/iphoto/. At the bottom left you'll find the system requirements for IP 6. It looks like you're within range as far as the OS requirement and computer model. IP 6 should just upgrade your older version. If you want to install just iPhoto, there should be a "Custom Install" option in a drop-down menu. Choose that (instead of the default "Easy Install") and select what you want to install.
