Installing W7 from Toshiba Recovery UBS

I direct ordered a Toshiba Satillite with W 7 18 months go. My HD failed this month and my tech replaced the HD  and installed W 8.1 as OS----AFTER I TOLD HIM TO REINSTALL W 7.. the blankly blank! My computer is now almost unusable. I wont even relate all the problems. I have the Toshiba W7 installation UBS, what I want to know is how to install it. Do I have to wipe this new HD before installing the W 7 or not? or can I just install W7 over W8.1?Whether yes or no is there anything else I must do before installling W 7? Help, at wits end with this 8.1  nightmare.

  • Dual boot Windows from Toshiba Recovery CD

Is it possible to dual boot Windows from a Toshiba Recovery CD?
I have a Satellite A45-S120 with a Toshiba Windows XP Recovery CD.
I have XP installed on one partition.  I partitioned the hard drive using GParted, and installed Linux on several partitions.  I want to install XP on a 2nd partition, so I can dual boot 2 versions of Windows from the same hard drive.
When I go to install Windows, the Toshiba Recovery CD says the entire hard drive will be deleted.  Is this the case, or will it only reformat a partition?  I went into GParted and was able to change the first Windows XP ntfs partition to hidden, and now successfully can not boot Windows from the Grub Boot Manager.  However, I worry that if GParted can see the partition, then the Toshiba Recovery CD might be able to.  In addition, the Linux ext partitions could not be set to hidden.  Will the Toshiba Recovery CD overwrite all the partitions, or can it maybe only install itself on the one ntfs partition available?
I read at http://www.vistax64.com/general-discussion/193560-install-xp-toshiba-recovery-disk-d.html that there may be a way possible, any advice?
    Specs are:
    1.26 Ghz Celeron
    1.256 GB Ram
    40 GB HD

    Satellite A45-S120
I want to install XP on a 2nd partition,
So far as I know, that recovery disc will install nothing. It will restore the entire hard drive (master boot record and all) by writing all the bytes that were on the original drive (byte-by-byte).

  • Problem installing Mavericks from my recovery partition of my computer

I don't know what's going on but for some reason each and every time I try to install mavericks from my recovery partition I get an error saying "OSX Mavericks failed to download" , then the text underneath that said "Use the purchases page to try again". This creates a problem for me because I can not access the Mac AppStore since I whipped my MacBook clean with the os along with it and am trying to clean install mavericks. So I was wondering how do I fix this because I am beginning to get extremely ****** off and frustrated.

    Hi
I want to install mac osx Mavericks on a  seagate internal raw hard . I downloaded "RecoveryDiskAssistant" and install it in a usb drive, before installing I made partition for new harddisk , and I stadted to install it through internet without problem,
But after 10% it says: ""Use the purchases page to try again"" . and after clicking okey it`s installing bar doesnt go forward(Most comments which I found was about app strore but in this step I have no access to app store) . could you please help me what to do?

  • Satellite A300-20P - How to restore from Toshiba recovery?

    Hi ..
my friend has this laptop: Satellite A300-20P.
I'm not sure what he did, but he installed Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit, then 32-bit again. The whole thing messed up.
Anyway, he didnt make a recovery disk for his laptop (damn thing). Now, becasue I have a Toshiba laptop too I know that there is Recovery on the Harddisk on the D partition (not the windows partition). I tried to use "Repair Windows" booting Windows, when I try to restore the whole PC from a backup media it says " No backup media found", now I'm not sure if the recovery sector still available or not, because the Windows cant boot. So is there away to find the recovery media?
If this mission impossible, then I have Windows Vista Ultimate to install and I can download the drivers from the site? The problem is, how I will make recovery media when install the Windows and the drivers ?
    Please this is urgent.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi
To be honest Im confused at the moment because first you wrote about a problem of your friends notebook and you wrote something about your own notebook where you try repair Windows.
So I dont understand what you mean exactly.
But fact is you have two possibilities to restore factory settings:
1)Use the Toshiba HDD recovery option. You can start it if you go in advanced boot menu (F8) and select Repair my computer. Then follow the screen instructions.
The first partition of the HDD will be wiped and you get factory settings back.
2)Use the Toshiba recovery disk. Its very similar to HDD recovery option but whole HDD will be wiped (all files will be deleted). After this you have factory settings back, too.
So thats all what you can do to restore the factory settings. If the HDD recovery option not work and you dont have a recovery disk you have to order a new one from Toshiba directly.
Alternative you can use a Microsoft disk to install Windows and then download and install all drivers and tools from Toshiba website step by step.

  • Won't boot from Toshiba Recovery Media; Will boot from Win 8 builder DVD

    Satellite L855-S5309, Windows 8, 64-bit
Created 2 sets of Windows 8 Recovery Media using Toshiba Recovery Media Creator.  First set a year ago, created a new set yesterday.
The laptop will not boot to either set (DVD 1).   The DVD is bootable in another machine.  EUFI is grayed out.
Tried a Windows 8 DVD store bought.  It booted from this DVD.
The big question:  Why won't the Toshiba laptop see its own DVD it created for recovery?
Win 8 Repair DVD - boots from USB drive but won't see DVD files on drive.  Is this the image?
Do I need to order the recovery media?

  • SW failures after replacing T510 HDD and re-installing software from Lenovo Recovery Disks

    Please help...
I have replaced the 320GB SATA drive in my T510 after the original one started to fail. But the resinstalled software (taken from the recovery partition on the old drive) hs problems.
I used the Lenovo Recovery Partition on the old drive to create a bootable Flash Drive in order to re-install to the new drive. It initially appeared that the recovery drive successfully reinstated Windows 7 and associated programs on the brand new (also Seagate 320GB SATA drive).
All was good, I thought - Until I tried Windows Update
Other things are not working well either - e.g. YouTube clips are not playing, IE is working very slowly to name but two.
Windows update fails with the message "Windows Update Cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer".
I have discovered on MS web site that there are fixes for this but the fixes I have tried do not work.
The fixes all seem to look for and check that BITS (Background Intelligent Transfer Service) and Windows Update Srervices are running. I have checked and both services ARE runing but still I get the failure message.
    When running the Microsoft Fix:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2730071
further errors are discovered stating that "troubleshooting was unable to fix all of the issues found.
"Problems installing recent updates - not fixed"
I have serached high and low and the only stuff I can find to fix windows update does not work.
If the replacement HDD was brand new.
Could it be that a BIOS update that took place at some point during the last year or two plus the recovery partition are somehow incompatible.
Could it be that the recovery partition has created an unusable version?
Advice on where to go next will be well received..

    Hello and welcome,
One of the things that can cause this is migrating to an advanced format hard drive (one with 4kb sectors).  For some reason this confuses Windows Update - and some other things.
This KB should help - if this is indeed the problem: Windows Update Fails After Installing New Hard Drive

  • Trying in install lion from the recovery partion. says I didn't buy with this apple ID

My IMac failed. I was trying to reinstall the Mac OS X 10.7 from the recovery partition. I input my apple ID & password . I get a message that say I have not purchased LION. I did of course. And looked on my purchased items . And of course it was not listed. So.. Not sure how to get it to download. Ay suggestions?
    Thanks.

Your problem might be a easy fix.
If the firmware "forgets" what partition it's supposed to boot from, it won't load OS X, so if OS X doesn't load then it can't tell the fans to slow down, the default is "turbo mode".
So all you might have to do is hold the option/alt key down while booting the computer with a charged up battery on power, you will then see a row of icons and you pick OS X to boot from.
Once in you head to System Preferences and set the Startup Disk, that will tell the firmware what to boot from again.
Try it and see if it works.
You can do more if your problem is not fixed.

Yes, if it was purchased new you have a 1 year warranty, despite who you bought it from (unless it's stolen goods)
However you should purchase AppleCare while your in the store for another 2 more years of coverage also a backup drive for TimeMachine to protect your data.

  • Install Mavericks from Internet Recovery

Hi there hope somebody can help me,
I am trying to install OS X Mavericks on my MacBook Pro 2010 model using the internet recovery as i have no OS installed and no Recovery partition.
When i try to install Mavericks im asked to login with my apple ID, however i have not activated Mavericks on my account so cannot proceed.
I dont have access to any other mac to activate the download on my account and my nearest apple store is over a 1 hour drive.
Please can someone with a Mac create a new apple ID for me and activate Mavericks on it using the mac app store so that i can proceed?
    Thanks
    Jacob

That is completely false information. The OP has a 2010 Mac notebook that came with Snow Leopard. Even if he can access the Online Internet Recovery system from that 2010 model (Some can and Some Can NOT) he still would not be able to install any of the Downloaed Only version of OS X (Lion, Mt Lion or Mavericks)
He needs the Original System Reinstall DVD disc Set that came with his system or a Replacement set of them.
    Dr.Mac. wrote:
Your computer can use Internet recovery to install the factory's initial OS X which is Lion 10.7
To use the OS X Internet Recovery feature after applying a firmware update. Download and install an updated EFI Firmware ROM for these computers to use the OS X Internet Recovery feature: MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.6 Download
This update enables Lion Recovery from an Internet connection on MacBook Pro (Mid 2010) models. After you install Lion you can  download the new OS X Mavericks. There is free upgrade option in the Mac App store.

  • How do I install Lion on my new iMac from a recovery thumb drive?

Anyone know how to install Lion from a recovery copy? It's made from the copy on my MacBook Pro on a thumb drive.

Are you saying that you copied your system or installer from your laptop onto a thumb drive?
Please be specific: you really can't copy the recovery partition by itself because it's hidden - you can use Apple's recovery assistant to create a bootable startup on a thumb drive with which you can boot your system and then download/install. But, I believe that method requires the same machine ID to work.
IF you have the full installer, you need to boot up from another drive (the installer may not be bootable) and then direct it to another Mac.
So where do you want to install it? And exactly what is it that you have on that thumb drive?
If you just want to install Lion on another Mac, you can simply download a fresh copy from MAS.

  • How do I create an install disk from recovery partition to install on a blank hd

So, my hard drive is slowly dying . . . about all I'm able to access is the recovery partition. I bought a new hard drive to replace it, but no longer have the install disks that came with the computer. How do I make install disks from the recovery partition that I can use to install Mountain Lion back onto the new hard drive?

    You have two possibilities:
    1. Open App Store > Purchases and download Mountain Lion. When the download has finished, open Lion Diskmaker to make a bootable Mountain Lion USB drive > http://blog.gete.net/lion-diskmaker-us/
    2. Download Recovery Disk Assistant from the Support website to create a Recovery HD on your USB drive.
The difference between them is that the first contains OS X Mountain Lion, so you won't have to download Mountain Lion from the App Store when you are going to install Mountain Lion

  • Re: How to install Windows from recovery media on a new hard drive?

Immediately after a Windows update, my computer would not restart. It said disk error.
I could not start it from the recovery media and F8 would not work. I bought and installed a new hard drive. Now when I put in the recovery media to install Windows on the new hard drive, it gives an error message.
What can this be? Should I be able to install Windows from the recovery media?
It is Windows 7 and the laptop is Satellite A500, 64 bit.

    Hello
Generally speaking you can install recovery image on every compatible HDD so thee should not be any problem about it.
Please tell us what happen when you start recovery installation. Which error message is shown?
Is new HDD recognized in BIOS. Before you start recovery installation set BIOS to default settings.

  • Install w7 from recovery to 2nd ssd

    I have a DV7-4195ed. i installed an SSD drive as 2nd drive.
I want to use this drive as a startup drive to gain speed.
How do I install W7 from the recovery partition?

HP should have a recovery DVD available.

I am skeptical you can recover the system to a 60 gig hard drive, however. I can squeeze Windows 7 onto a 60 gig drive but once you install other programs then it is going to be real hard to keep the system working right.

  • NB305 USB Toshiba Recovery Format Failed

NB305 USB Toshiba Recovery Format Failed.
    Multiple times... with multiple USB's.
I have formated on the drive with windows 7, OSX for Fat32 as well as in Linux and each time I run the media creator it wants to format again and then fails with error code: (040E2D-00-0000000)
    Any thoughts?
This is for Application Disks... I was able to copy the system recovery media to a usb flash drive.

I found solution for Toshiba Recovery Media Creator to create USB recovery Media in  my laptop  "Toshiba Satellite T135D-S1324".
Reinstall windows and applications by excuting Toshiba recovery program.
As the computer starts, press and hold on  " 0 " to begin the recovery from recovery partition in Hard disk.
This may not work, if you have deleted your recovery partition in Hard disk.
Select Recovery option by selecting  out of box state from toshiba recovery.
Any partition created by you will be deleted (ex. D: drive) and the data will be lost.
Warning: Back up your personal and valuable datas to an external storage device, before excuting the above mentioned recovery procedures.

  • Installing Vista using Parallels from a Toshiba Recovery Disk

I'm trying to use my copy of Vista from an older, now defunct Toshiba laptop. The recovery disks which include the operating system are not properly installing Vista within Parallels. Is there a way to extract the operating system from the recovery disks for use in Parallels?

No, those discs are proprietary to Toshiba hardware and will not work properly.

  • Install SSD from Recovery Disks (newerToshiba), or how?

    http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/System-Recovery-and-Recovery/Will-Toshiba-Recovery-Discs-properly-align...
^ See the last post of that thread.   The writer made recovery disks from the new laptop, then installed the SSD and used the recovery disks to install the operating system and software onto the new SSD.  (Didn't clone the hard drive, in other words.)
If you don't need to save settings and migrate files, is recovery-disks-to-SSD the best way to go?
I have a U505-S2012 Satelllite and a 256GB Crucial M4 SSD sitting here, ready to go,  LoL.  But I didn't know whether it was even possible to make the recovery disks install to a SSD.  Or make them install to a hard drive that's smaller than the original.
    Any thoughts or advice?
    Thanks!

As for me it's no matter how to install win7 on the new SSD drive - fresh install, clone hdd or use Factory Recovey media. For the x220 I've used the 2nd and 3rd methods.
As for twiking of win7 after a not clean installation just use sw from Intel for their SSD or twik it youself during 10-15 min. Alignment is not a problem if you use an SSD with TRIM support.
If you need UEFI the only clean installation is the method.
    x220 | i5-2520m | Intel ssd 320 series | Gobi 2000 3G GPS | WiFi
    x220 | i5-2520m | hdd 320 | Intel msata ssd 310 series | 3G GPS | WiFi
Do it well, worse becomes itself
