Installing Weblogic Liquid data on Solaris 10 x86

Hi,
I have a Solaris SunFire V65x server on which i have installed Solaris 10 (x86 IA) operating system. I was successfully able to install Weblogic 8.1 SP2 Server on this platform. However i am unable to install WebLogic Liquid Data 1.0 on this server.
Is there a way around ?

The patches that are mentioned as requirements in the database installation guide are quite old and should all be included in the latest releases (u9 and u10), so you should be able to install oracle without access to OS support and patches. But I still want to strongly advise against this (for production). If you don't have a support subscription you may also not have a license to run solaris (you can download the software for free, but are only allowed to use it for 90 days) and even if it is possible to install and run Oracle right now, there might be a time when (db) support asks you to install certain OS patches.
So if this is for a proof of concept only, go ahead, but if you want to run this in production, better get support and licensing.

  • Support for JRockit for WebLogic 10.3 in Solaris x86

    Hi All,
I am trying to install JRockit Mission Control 3.1.2 in a Solaris 10 x86 platform.
For Solaris Spark I know there is a special distribution.. For Solaris 10 x86 I am trying to install the generic linux version.
When I try to install the jrmc-3.1.2-1.6.0-linux-ia32.bin I get the following error:
    jrmc-3.1.2-1.6.0: Cannot find /lib/ld-linux.so.2
I also try with 64bit edition of the jrockit mission Control but I get a similar error but trying to find the /lib64/ld-linux.so.2.
Is Solaris 10 x86 supported? Or at least, is there a workaround to install it?
I find some site talking about JRockit for Solaris Spark, but seems to me that Solaris x86 is not supported...
    Thanks in advance
    Pablo

    Hi,
The DTD used in "web.xml" should not cause any issue ...though it's the OLD "web.xml"...Please try to run the Following command to Generate the New Deployment Descriptors from the Existing Application:
Step1). Open a Command Window and Run "setWLSEnv.sh" or "setWLSEnv.cmd".
Step2). In the Command Prompt move to the Current Directory where you have placed your Application and then Run the Following Command
    java weblogic.DDConverter  -d NewDDs  jamagent.war
Here Above Command Will read the "jamagent.war" War archive and then It will generate the New DDs in "NewDDs" directory...Which we need to replace with the OLD DDs present in our WebApplication..

Insufficient disk space when installing Weblogic 923 on Solaris 9 or 10 using bin file installer :
    bash-2.05$ ./server923_solaris32.bin -mode=console
** Insufficient disk space! The installer requires:
** 132MB for the BEA Home at /mnt/home2/i817284/sol_usphlcsx0003/wl92 and
    ** 664MB temporary work space at /var/tmp/aaa1baaJn.
** There is only 0MB available at /mnt/home2.
There are more than enough (several gigs) of free space in all those directories as verified by df -k...
Solution for jar file doesn't work, obviously ;)

bumping this up in hopes of an answer....
it appears that the jar installer works fine, the problem is with .bin installers only.....
in install docs found proposed solution of "use df compatible with used posix" - that must be a joke, right ??
we're supposed to replace df that comes with OS with some version that works with posix used by the installer ?? Really ?@?@?

  • Newbee installing weblogic 9.2 on solaris 10

None of the installation instructions talk about what user or group(s) to create on unix systems to install weblogic... Is it installed as root? Sorry for such a basic question, but I'm new to weblogic. Thanks

It's up to you, although most people will tell you it's not recommended to use root.
Many orgs I've seen create a weblogic user. Some people put the installation into that users home directory, others put it in other locations like /opt, again there is not any one standard, most organizations develop there own conventions and best practices. If you do install it as root, but run it as another user, then you'll have to change file permissions appropriately etc.

    Hi.
This is not a supported platform per http://edocs.bea.com/wls/platforms/index.html. We support solaris on sparc, not intel.

The properties file is hierarchical. So, if you have a properties file located in the servername directory and one in the root WebLogic installation, the properties file located in the servername directory will overwrite any properties that were previously defined in the root WebLogic installation properties file.

  • Install WebLogic Server 7.0.1 on Solaris Intel (x86)

I know WebLogic has never officially supported Solaris on Intel, but I was able
to install and run version 6.1. However, it seems that I can no longer install
WebLogic 7.0.1 on Solaris x86. Has anyone been able to do that?

Are you sure you have installed the Sun JDK, not the OpenJDK?
