Installing WiFi Connect on 64-bit Windows 7

Verizon WiFi can be installed on the 64-bit version of Windows 7, but the web activation that has to be completed to download the installer fails in a 64-bit OS.  The solution is to use Windows XP mode to get the installer, then run it under Windows 7 natively to get the WiFi connect installed there.  Details:
1.  Install Windows XP mode.  Open the virtual machine to the Windows XP desktop.  Run Internet Explorer from the Windows XP start menu.
2.  Navigate to http://www.verizon.net/wifi and log in using your FIOS credentials.
3. Click on the “Download WiFi Connect” and then run the Verizon Registration software. Follow the prompts to install and run the Verizon WiFi Activation Wizard. After activation the Wizard will download and run the Verizon WiFi Connect Installer.  Allow the installation to complete.
4.  Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the temp folder used by IE.  If you logged in to XP Mode with the default account, the user is XPMUser, and the temp folder is located at “C:\Documents and Settings\XPMUser\Local Settings\temp”.  In this folder, find the file VZ_WiFi_Connect.exe.  This is the actual installer.  Copy this file to a convenient location on a Windows 7 drive.  These are listed in Windows Explorer as “C on COMPUTERNAME”, etc.
5. Exit Windows XP Mode and run the VZ WiFi Connect installer from Windows 7. It should run without issues and install the Wi-Fi Connect and Hotspot Search Apps.  You can go back and uninstall the copy installed in Windows XP Mode when convenient.

Thanks for posting steps that worked in your situation!

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Installing SAP GUI on 64-bit Windows 7 with 32-bit Office

Until about 6 months ago, 64-bit systems in my environment had 64-bit Office 2010 installed.  That caused some problems with other applications, so I made the decision that, going forward, ALL systems would have 32-bit Office 2010 installed.
Apparently, it's taken 6 months, but I finally have a need to Install SAP GUI 7.20 Patch 6 on a 64-bit Windows 7 system with 32-bit Office 2010.  It turns out, that doesn't work.
    I receive this:
Not all package prerequisits [sic] are fulfilled
Outlook Client extension for the synchronization of SAPoffice calendar with Outlook calendar... No compatible version of Microsoft Outlook found.
I am assuming that since this same installation works on my 32-bit systems, that it is upset about my architecturally-mismatched Office.
Am I correct about the source for this problem?  If so, is there anything I can do to make the GUI work in this environment?

    Hi John,
Actually, there is no mismatch in having 32-bit Office installed on 64-bit Windows.  In fact, this is probably the preferred environment.  SAPGUI in general is much happier with 32-bit Office, especially older patches (by the way, 7.20 is no longer in support -- you should upgrade to 7.30).
The errors you're receiving are most probably related to lingering 64-bit components of Office on your workstation.  We had the same situation in my office a while back, when we first started rolling out 64-bit Windows to a few users, and the PC techs mistakenly thought that meant they had to install 64-bit Office.  That caused lots of problems, since 64-bit Office is incompatible with many things, not just SAPGUI, as you found.  Correcting the error by simply reinstalling Office 32-bit resulting in workstations with some 64-bit and some 32-bit components, and that just made things worse.  Systems where 32-bit Office was installed from the beginning (on 64-bit OS) had no problems at all.
So, what you're probably going to need to do is to uninstall all Office components (including Outlook, Visio, anything like that, not just Word and Excel), and also uninstall your SAPGUI, then reinstall 32-bit Office (with Outlook) from scratch, then reinstall your SAPGUI.  This will probably clear up your problem.
    Regards,
    Matt

  • Why can't I install iTunes on my 64-bit Windows 7 desktop?

When I go to the installation page and input my email address, the full page doesn't seem to load, but then I click on what I assume is the "download" button (though can't really tell because the pictures don't load properly) and nothing happens.  After a minute or so it just goes back to the iTunes page and if I click download it all just happens again.
    What am I missing?

Thanks, I found the link to the direct installer and installed it.  But when I tried to run iTunes after installation an error message occurred:  "Apple Application Support was not found.  Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes.  Please uninstall iTines, then install iTunes again.  Error 2 (Windows error 2)".  Same thing happened when I uninstalled and re-installed.
Can anybody assist with fixing this?

  • Installing CS3 on a 64 bit Windows 7 laptop

I am trying to install my copy of CS3 on a different computer. The old one was a desktop with Windows 7. I deactivated that one and removed it from the computer. I have the origianl disks. I tried to install it on the new computer and it will not work.
When I try to run the setup it starts off and then I get an error message:
webpage error: This webpage contains errors that might prevent it from displaying or working correctly. If you are not testing the webpage, click no.
Below that are two check boxes: Do not show this message again; or Use the built-in script debugger in I.E.
Then another box opens saying: Line:521 Error: Exception thrown and not caught.
I get another box saying: Exception occurred. Process will be terminated. Runtime error has occurred in script however no debuggers are registered that can debug this exception. Unable to JIT debug. Exception address 00413E6C.
I have tried to run it as administrator. I have also tried to set the compatibility as far back as XP. Nothing works.
If I try the installation on another computer it seems to work. This laptop is a HP G71-358NRN Notebook.
    I am stumped.
    Help, please.

    Hello,
This seems to be a compatibility issue of your product with 64 bit OS.

  • Installing 10g R2 on 32-bit Windows Server 2008 (not R2!)

    I want to install 10g R2 on Windows Server 2008 32-bit OS.
It looks like 10.2.0.4 is the current release that supports Server 2008, however it doesn't seem to be available as an installation option.
The download page says to download 10.2.0.3 and then use the patchset 10.2.0.4 from Oracle MySupport.
Doesn't the patchset have to be installed over a current installation? How do I get an installation on my OS, if 10.2.0.3 will not install on it? Or will it?

You can upgrade from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4 directly.BASE patchset? Not sure what you mean. This is a new install.
Are you implying that install 10.2.0.1 first is the way t go. Not sure if that will install on Server 2008.
I can't fiddle with the product prereqs xml to make it install. We will be instructing the customer on the installation and they will not want to do that.

  • I have a 32 bit windows 7 computer - itunes not installing

recently i had to get a new hard drive, so when i got it i had to re instal itunes to my 32-bit windows 7 PC. As it had worked previously with my old and same type hard drive i was confused when it didnt work.  when i  would open itunes a message would pop up saying ' please re install itunes' but it still let me use the software and dowload songs and everything, it wasnt untill i tried to sync my 4th/5th gen ipod nano's that it said that it didnt detect the device and would not let me sync new songs onto it.
can anyone help me with finding a 32-BIT WINDOWS 7 ITUNES INSTALLATION that will work, otherwise i wont be able to get new songs on my ipod.
      sincerly, cassie

    Try following steps:
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
    3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

  • Connecting a hard-wired Windows Vista machine locks up my Airport Extreme N

I just installed a new Airport Extreme 802.11n.
    I have 3 computers...
    1. Hard-wired Mac Pro
    2. Wifi connected Powerbook
    3. Windows Vista machine--works with Wifi, but I can't plug it in without locking up the modem
I'm using DHCP with a comcast connection.
Everything works great until I plug in the Windows Vista machine. This immediately locks up the router and prevents internet access on all hardwired machines (wifi still works). It disappears from the Airport Utility and needs to be unplugged and reset to reappear.
Obviously this has something to do with the IP address assignment and DHCP.
What settings need to be changed so that I can have both my Mac Pro and Windows Vista machine hard-wired?

Hello LeeMI. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Just to make sure, your network configuration, with the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), should look something like the following:
Cable modem > (Ethernet cable) > /[WAN port] AEBS /[LAN port] > (Ethernet cable) > /[Ethernet port] Main computer ... is this correct?

  • Crdb_dao.dll error on 64 bit Windows 2008 Server

We are using VS2008 to develop enterprise solutions for our customers. We have recently had support calls from our customers installing our solution on 64 bit WIndows Server 2008 machines reporting errors when displaying embedded Crystal Reports.
The error is "Failed to load database information. Details: The database DLL 'crdb_dao.dll' could not be loaded. Error in file C:\Users........rpt: Failed to load database information"
This error only occurs in the 64 bit environment and only occurs when the report is being passed a datasource at runtime, having been developed using a different source. eg: The report is developed based on an Excel Spreadsheet and then passed a runtime DataTable to populate the report at runtime.
We have setup a test environment and replicated this error. The test machine is using the 64 bit Crystal runtime.
Any help would be appreciated as this issue is getting hot now with more customers using 64 bit environments and over 100 of our reports being affected by this error.
    Thanks,
    Scott.

    Hi Ludek,
Thanks very much for your info and help.
Unfortunately I still haven't been able to resolve this issue.
    I have installed the SP.
I have also run the modules utility, which unfortunately does not work on the 64 bit machine.
I did notice in running it on a 32 bit machine that my test report is loading crdb_dao.dll, which is the same dll that the 64 bit machine is trying to load when the error occurs.
I am wondering if it is possible that the 64 bit Crystal runtime does not include this dll because a search of the files on the 64 bit machine fails to find a file by that name.
In actual fact, on further investigation I have now found that the Crystal 64 bit runtime throws this error for any report based on a spreadsheet file, even if that spreadsheet is accessible from the 64 bit machine, so it appears to be a bug in the Crystal 64 bit runtime.
    Regards,
    Scott.

  • When I bootup my Macbook my family's PCs  wifi connections stop working !

Hi everybody, when my nephew boots up his Macbook (Snow Leopard 10.6.5) he can regularly surf the web through a wireless router. However the wifi connection on other devices (Windows Vista notebook PCs, Linux Pcs, Windows 2000 PC, Playstation 3 wireless, PSP, Xbox ecc.) stops working. When he shuts off his Macbook, wifi connection on Windows/Linux PCs etc. starts to work again.
I've had similar issues only with a wireless TV signal transmitter (working at 2.54 GHZ). When it is on, wifi connection is impossible, no matter what channel is selected (it has 4 channels).
What to do with my nephew's Macbook? I can see that every 10 seconds Airport is searching for wireless signals (the wifi led on the router blinks), but no other traffic is sent/received so I don't think it's a bandwidth problem.
Can Airport be shut off and can I connect to wifi router without airport using other apps or using a terminal (console) application (I use Linux and many commands are the same, i.e " iwconfig - ifconfig ")?
Maybe it's the transmitting power of MAcbook wifi device (too strong?). Can it be modified? I'm not a Mac guru... In linux there is a command, say "iwconfig wifi0 txpower 20mW " to tell the wifi driver to use 20 mW transmitting power on wifi0 device. In that Macbook the wifi device is called "en1"...
Many thanks in advance for good ideas..!

Many thanks for such a fast answer!
    @ a brody
I have so many wifi devices (at least 17) I don't want to create a MAC address filtering rule for each one of them! I don't ever know if my router can accept filters on so many MAC addresses!! But I will try out your suggestion if I can't solve in other way.. Thank you!
    @ J D McIninch
Thank you, I will try... However, my router don't need to be restarted to get online again: when my nephew shuts off his Macbook the wifi connection is all ok. How could it be that a routing table gets corrupted when the Macbook is on, and that very same routing table gets repaired as soon as the Macbook is shut down? I'm sure, however, my router is a pre-N one ( Belkin modem/router bought in 2004, 802.11 b/g 54Mb with 125Mb turbo mode feature always turned off for backward wifi compatibility)
    Thanks

  • Labview 2012 32bit running in 64 bit windows

    Hello Sir/MAdam,
I have recently installed LabView 2012 on 64-bit windows 7. It seems LabView is 32-bit. When I run a simple code for reading digital inputs, it does not response while when I run this code on LabView 2010 running on a 32-bit PC it works!
Could this problem be because of 32-bit LabView 2012 running on my 64-bit windows. I also installed drivers which support 64-bit.
I attached the simple code I am using for reading digital inputs.
I appreciate in advance your kind help.

    Soroush,
At this point it's still a little hard to say what may be causing this problem. Have you tried running any other I/O examples included with LabVIEW? Are these also unresponsive on the 64-bit machine running LabVIEW 2012?
Are you able to see any values using the Test Panels for the simulated cards in the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX)?
I don't think this is related to the 32- or 64-bit architecture of the computer, but hopefully we can help you figure something out.
