Installing Win version on Mac via Parallels

I'm currently running Photoshop CS2 and the trial version of Illustrator CS4 on my Mac. I'm going to be purchasing Creative Suite for Windows and installing/running this via Parallel, which allows you to run a Windows OS and it's programs on a Mac.
My question is...will I have any problems in installing or running CS4 for Win seeing as how I have other Mac versions of the same programs on the same hard drive? I plan on uninstalling these to make room for the new ones, but of course Adobe leaves behind difficult to locate files.
Any help or insight is much appreciated. Thanks!

CS 4 will install under Parallels with no issue. Just make sure you have
a large disk image set aside.

I thought that installation through Boot Camp required, without hacks, a physical optical disc to install Boot Camp? I don't use it any longer since I run XP under Parallels, but I would swear that you have to use a disc, and not a USB thumb drive, to install Windows?

If you have the Media you can use it to create a bootable USB key via boot camp assistant.
It will create the usb and has the option of pre-downlading the drivers and bootcamp utilities for windows.
It is pretty much all automated and quite simple.

  • Multi-touch Windows Audition on Apple Mac via Parallels or VMWare or bootcamp?

Has anyone used the Windows version of Adobe Audition on the Mac via Parallels, VMWare or bootcamp?
Does Parallels / VMWare provide multi-touch capability in Audition whereby sections of audio can be selected via a pinch gesture, and zooms can be done using the same?
I know Audition is being developed for Mac, but I work in a mixed platform enviroment: Windows and Mac, and having already bought Audition for Windows I would prefer to use this in the Mac rather than make another purchase.

According to Mactracker, given the size of the screen and the CPU speed your MBP could be one of these models:
    - MacBookPro5,1, which originally shipped with OS X 10.5.5
    - MacBookPro5,3, which originally shipped with OS X 10.5.7
Since they originally shipped with OS X 10.5, the system disc that came with your MBP may have 10.5 on it. If so, you should be able to do a reinstall from the original disc. If you do a full backup to another volume before you do that, you can recover your data from the backup to your MBP. However, some migrating some of the data (such as Mail messages) may be tricky due to format changes.

  • Installed new version of Mac OS x and iWeb won't open

I installed new version of Mac OS x last night and iWeb won't open

I spent an exhausting night testing programs after updating. My iWeb works as expected after the update. No network problems whatsoever. You may want to see if you are connected to the internet. iWeb opens incredibly slowly when there is no connection. Try opening Safari and see if you are surfing normally.
Lion hides the Library folders, probably so users can't mess with them. I downloaded the latest beta of Onyx and was able to get the Library folders to show again.
The only problem I had were some font issues. Do you have a font manager installed? Lion installs its font program and it is set to automatically activate fonts. I turned all autoactivation off.
Lion has no Rosetta and Power PC programs are no longer supported. Do you have the newest version of iWeb installed? I also have been updating my Mac constantly. You may want to run software update and make sure all your programs are current.

  • Installing windows 8 on mac with parallels 9

So I have a windows 8 code and no windows pc's. it is only a 25 digit code.
parallels is asking for a usb drive or a cd, apparently this is the most difficult request and nobody in the span of the existance of the internet has asked how to do this. I have parallels 9 installed on my mac. i go to the windows site and download what it tells me to but the mac os says it cant run the file to insert my code key to get windows. and since i cant download it the parallels cant pick it up.
so what do i do? I do not have access to a windows computer that I can just freely download stuff on.

When you purchased the .iso Windows file (I'm assuming that you downloaded an .iso disk image?) you should have received the activation code via email. You need to burn the .iso image to a USB flash drive, install Windows and enter the activation code when prompted when you install it via Parallels.
I'm not running Win8 but rather Win7 Pro and my installation went off without a hitch.
Try burning the image file to a flash drive (probably an 8GB will do) and then create the Windows 'drive' using Parallels.
    Good luck,

  • "Non-system disk Press any key to reboot"- Trying to install Win 7 on Mac Mini

Hello. I'm trying to install Windows 7 on a new-model Mac Mini ('Late 2012'), which I just bought from Apple. [Specs: 1 TB Fusion drive, 2.6 GHz intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM, OS X Mavericks (latest), Graphics: Intel HD graphics 4000, Screen: LG Flatron 24"].
After following instructions on Bootcamp, I tried installing it through my external USB Apple Superdrive (DVD), but for some reason as soon as the system finishes getting things ready and reboots to begin installing Windows 7, I get a black screen with an error message as follows: "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key". Pressing the keys on my keyboard does nothing (even though it's a wired model, not a wireless one.) I'm forced to do a hard shutdown using the power button and hold down the Option key in order to get the system to show the Mac HD where OS X is. It also shows the Windows DVD as another option, but when I select it and the system boots, I just get the same error message again. So I go back to a hard shutdown and reboot to go into OS X again.
Not sure what to do, I did some online research and in one post in the Frequently Asked Questions for Bootcamp, it says for installing Win 7 and Win 8, the computer won't work with external USB drives (*totally nuts in my opinion - Apple has to fix this stuff if they want to entice Windows users into buying their sleek, quiet hardware). Instead, the post recommends creating a Windows 7 ISO file from my Windows 7 DVD and putting it on a USB thumbdrive that Bootcamp is going to use to put all the Apple/Windows drivers on for the installation process. I'm also told I have to unplug my Superdrive (no explanation given for why). So I do all this and get Bootcamp Assistant running again. Unfortunately, as soon as the system reboots after going through all the usual preparation steps, I get another black screen with a new error message: "Non-system disk Press any key to reboot". So I'm at a loss for what to do next.
(I've also have an iMac that I bought more than a year ago that I also put Windows 7 on, with no problems that time. Go figure.)
If anyone here has an good answer for how to proceed, I need to know. Thanks in advance!

  • Is it possible to run presenter on Mac via Parallels?

And, record events and activitiy on Mac software screens ( I have all of my Adobe and office software on the Mac and wonder if I want to show something on the Office for Mac could I capture it using presenter on that Mac under Parallels (or boot camp)?

    Hi Fred,
Presenter will work fine in Mac Bootcamp(Windows in Mac), but if your goal is screen/webcam capture, you can try Presenter Video Express which is video capture tool for Mac -> http://blogs.adobe.com/presenter/2013/05/adobe-presenter-video-express-for-mac-now-availab le-on-the-apple-mac-app-store.html

  • How to erase and install new version os Mac Os X?

Can someone tell me how to erase and install new copy of Mac OS X 10.5.8 ?? IS there a way to do this without CD?? I no longer have the disks and I cant find a way to get this done.. The reason I want to do this is because a 12 year old was using this computer for a long time and there is a lot of junk stuff on the disk, so I want to start from fresh.
    Thank you in advance.
    Yani.

    Hi Yani,
Your out of luck without an Install Disc, & on dangerous ground also.
    2 ways to go...
      1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
       2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
       3. Click the Erase tab.
       4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
       5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
       6. Highlight the drive, select Partition Tab, then Format type... MacOS Extended Journalled, select the Security Options button, choose Zero Out Data, Erase... after completion do a new install.
    Or...
Open System Preferences>Accounts, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.
In the same pref pane highlight your old account, click the little minus icon, then use Disk Utility to Secure Erase Free Space.

  • How to install previous version of Mac OS X Server

I had to downgrade my comp from Maverick back to Snow Leopard. Now I can not install Mac OS  X Server. App store only offering me Maverick version.
    Please advice.
    Cheers,
       Andrei

Snow Leopard and Snow Leopard Server  both predate the App Store and related software downloads.
Snow Leopard Server (OS X Server 10.6) was generally available only via DVD distribution, and there were only specific versions produced; you'd need a version that supports your particular system, or to use the streaming update to get from client Snow Leopard to Snow Leopard Server (if your system requires a later version and can't boot the server DVD directly).
Your options here are to roll in your backups, or to roll in Snow Leopard Server from either your server-specific DVD distro or from a retail Snow Leopard Server DVD distribution.
If you no longer have your distribution, you might find a Snow Leopard Server distro from the used market — you'll need a license key to activate it, and you'll want the retail distribution and not the server-specific version — or maybe directly from Apple Support folks.  If you were licensed for Snow Leopard Server and had purchased directly from Apple, then you might be able to call Apple Support and get access to what you had, too.
It used to be that the per-system DVD disks around that era were grey, and the so-called retail disks — which is what you want, if you don't have your own grey disks for your system — were black.  I don't have any retail Snow Leopard Server DVDs handy to confirm that coloration, though.

  • I am trying to install windows on my mac via bootcamp, and it says I need to download Windows Support Software. I tried, but it says "Download can not continue. The Windows Support Software is not available.

You don't need to download the Windows support software, because in Snow Leopard, they are only available as a download for the Late 2010 MacBook Air.
Instead, you have to buy Mac OS X Snow Leopard. The Snow Leopard disc contains the Windows drivers for your Mac, so you have to install them after finishing the Windows installation

  • How can I install virtualized mavericks on Mac? Parallels or VMWare?

I need to use safari(mac) to test my website, However safari is also my default browser.
It will cause some problems while debugging, because safari is also my default browser, I need to ignore a lot of non-development http requests/responses data.
Also, sometimes, I need to empty the cache to ensure I got a fresh installed safari to test, that would be very inconvenient if safari is my default browser.
Usually, I use Virtualbox to install Windows/Linux on my Mac to test different browsers.
For safari, I hope I can do it in similar way. That said, to have a virtualized Mac vm on my mac, so I can have an independent safari browser for test.
I don't want to spend a lot of time to investigate how to do it on Virtualbox, and I don't know if Virtualbox figure out a way to do it now or not.
It seems Parallels and VMWare provides easier way to install mac mavericks vm on mac.
for example, I can see this
    http://kb.parallels.com/118806
I am wondering if Apple suggests an official or easier way for developer to test safari. To buy Parallels or VMWare?

I've attempted to install Mavericks as a VM in BOTH.
Fusions was so "choppy" and slow, it was impossible to use, and it wouldn't run bigger than 1024X768, or go "Full Screen". Pretty useless with dual 1920X1080 monitors.
Parallels was slightly more manageable, but I still had performance and resolution problems. While I could go bigger than 1024X768, the resolutions it would allow were 1600X1200 and 1920X1400, with No "Full Screen" option available either. Those sizes left me unable to access my dock or the bottom 120 to 320 pixels of my desktop or any open window.
Installing was no problem. I used my 10.8 installer, and once I had the VM up & running, either the AppStore or a previously downloaded Mavericks installer will do.
Note: BOTH VMS were set up with 2 cores and 4Gb RAM so, it wasn't a matter of resources. Mavericks just doesn't perform that well as a VM yet. I'm pretty sure VMWare and Parallels need to make app updates to handle it better.
What design softwarte do you use?

  • You can run Win XP in OSX via Parallels, but how do you run OSX in XP?

Hey, I have a week old MBP that I've boot camped to run a stripped down version of XP for gaming. I got Parallels so that I could, if I wanted, game while keeping OSX native, but with no DX9 support (and awful DX compatibility in general) it's totally useless to me.
SO, I thought, why not try to virtualize OSX within XP. I'd want to keep the memory/processor dedications as light as possible, as I'd just be using the virtualized OSX to access iTunes and keep various torrents seeding.
    Any progs you know of?
Alternately, is there an easy way to get access to the iTunes collection on the OSX partition from within XP?
Thanks for your help in advance

    Hi 12orphans;
There is an iTunes for XP. As to whether or not it can access the iTunes library on a Mac I don't know. I try to have as little to do with anything Windozes as I can.

It sounds like you might have a corrupted zip.  Could you try downloading and trying again?  You might also want to try an alternative compression program, I've had success with Unarchiver before (free).
