Installing Windows 7 on Lion via Bootcamp, problems.

Hello there,
After a while i finally decided to install Windows7 on a partition on my Macbook Pro.
I updated SL to Lion, dowloaded the Windows support software and putted it on a Extrenal HD.
But i have a problem: i don't have Windows7 on a CD, since Windows is often pre-installed on PC's these days.
Which means i don't have Windows7 on a CD, but i do have a legal product key for Windows7 (Found at sticker at the bottom of your PC).
So before i start the Bootcamp procedure i want to ask this:
If i download Windows7 from the internet, and put it on a CD.
And then use that CD to install windows, and when bootcamp asks for the product Key, i just use the one at the bottom of my PC.
Will it then work?
I don't know if the ProductKey is unique, if so, i have a bigger problem.

After you install Apple driver to enable the audio chip, YOU then need to manually download and install (Cirrus or Realtek audio depending on the Mac).

Cannot install Windows 8.1 via bootcamp. (Solved)

I have tried installing via bootcamp and I got an error, I didn't take a picture but it said something about not setting the right boot up?
I also tried the method of removing the partion and creating a new partion called BOOTCAMP in exFat. I cannot boot it using the BIOS Method because it says I have no bootable drives. When I select the EFI partion I get the windows installation but I got an error stating that I have an MBR table and that windows doesn't suport it.
What's the best way to install windows 8.1?
I have a macbook pro retina (Late 2013).
Edit: I am installing again using the normal bootcamp method. (No intteruptions)
Edit:2 I sucuessfully passed the installation now it just restarted.
Edit:3 I sucuessfully installed Windows 8.1! In the installation meantioned in edit 1 I used an old .iso that I had from december 2013, I had problems when I created an .iso from windows 7. If you have problems try chaning your .iso.

Some people have been successful installing 8.1 (me, for instance) despite it not being supported. However this seems to be hardware dependent.
I would have expected the normal WININSTALL option to be available on a Bootcamp-created USB, not just the EFI boot option.
It really depends on whether Bootcamp is creating a hybrid MBR when it creates the Bootcamp partition. Some later model Macs do not. On the Macs that do not create the hybrid MBR Windows may install in EFI mode.
If you remove everything and stretch the Macintosh HD back to the full size of the disc again then reboot and when the system restarts begin the Bootcamp installation again but do not let it restart at that time, you can then run the following code in the terminal and report its output we will be able to see if a hybrid MBR has been created (this is after the partition has been created by Bootcamp, but before it reboots).

Cannot install Windows 8.1 with BootCamp on Mavericks

I have a brand spankin' new Late 2013 27" iMac, fully updated, with a 3TB Fusion drive. I have thrice attempted to install Windows 8.1 via BootCamp 5.5, with the 64bit edition DVD on the SuperDrive, and allotting 1TB out of the 3 available. There are no other partitions besides OS X and the BootCamp partition. The Windows installer successfully begins, but each time it cannot locate any partitions to load itself on. The list is just...blank.
I've already scoured the forums here for support, and tried several claimed remedies, such leaving all USB ports clear (except for the SuperDrive) until after install (even removing the flash drive with the Apple support files), and had a long chat with Apple Care today...they said the engineers would get back to me in about a week. I read somewhere that hard drives over 2.2TB may be an issue, but Apple states that Mavericks has no problem with this, leading me to believe maybe Windows 8.1 is still lagging in this department.
To that end, I recall someone, somewhere mentioning how to carefully partition the drive to get around this, and that Windows absolutely, positively, had to be on the 4th partition, including the hidden partitions such as Recovery, Boot OS X, etc. Only problem is that Disk Utility is showing way more hidden partitions than this, and they seem to be unremovable.
Does anybody have a solution/workaround for this, or are both products still too new to have a found a way to play nicely together?

I did it. After fours hours and two hours on the phone with Apple support, I installed Windows 8.1 to my iMac. So, I just wanted to share it with you.
System:
iMac 2013, 27" monitor, 1T fusion drive, wirless keyboard, magic mouse.
Software:
OS X 10.9
Windows 8.1 full version 64bit
(I skipped some steps such as type in software key, choose language, etc.)
1. For my last try, Instead of using Bootcamp assistant to setup partition for Windows, I used disk utility to create an 100G space for Windows with FAT file system and named it BOOTCAMP.
2. Insert Windows CD into the USB super drive.
3. Shutdown iMac.
4. While press and hold the left "option" key, turn on iMac.
5. Select CD/Windows icon to boot.
6. Choose Custom installation
7. Select the partition named BOOTCAMP (I am not sure why it is 200G; I assigned 100G. Well...)
8. Format
And the rest is history. By the way, when Windows restarts during installation, make sure to press and hold the left "option" key to boot up Windows.
I do not know why but I am happy now. As a matter of fact, I am sending this message from Windows 8.1 running on my iMac.

Your issue is completely different. You are running Snow Leopard. There is no download for Windows Support software for Snow Leopard, hence the error you see. Snow Leopard Windows Support software is on the Snow Leopard installation disk.
You need the Snow Leopard installation disk or a replacement for it.

i have a big problem.
i have install Windows 8 Professional (via MSDNAA) via Boot Camp 4.0 on my MacBook Air 13" 2012 with Mac OS X 10.8.1.
Windows 8 Prof. running good on my Mac, but if i want boot in OS X my MacBook always boot in Windows 8.
If i start the Boot Camp System Control on Windows a error show to me, that i have no admin rights. Of Course my Account has admin rights.
If i click reboot in OS X it reboots always in Win 8 with no choice to change my system.
I have tried to hold shift, but nothing happens.
Pls pls help me, i want back to Mac OS :/

As you are booting, hold ALT/Option key, this will show you the bootable drives and you will be able to choose the OS you want.
Remember, Windows 8 is not offically out, and is unsupported by Apple and Microsoft at a End-User level. This means only developers and system administrator with direct MSDN support are suppose to be using Windows 8. When Windows 8 offically releases on October 26, i am sure Apple will update Boot Camp to fix any permission issues.
Watch out next time when jumping aboard unsupported OSes.

USB gaming mouse unrecognized by Windows 7 Pro (via BootCamp)

I bought a Zowie EC1 Gaming USB mouse. But when I plug it into my MacBook Pro 15" running Windows 7 Pro (via BootCamp), then the mousewheel flashes blue shortly for 1 second or so, and the driver installation process starts. After awhile it says hardware unsuccesfully installed. And when I re-plug the mouse in the same USB port it says unrecognized.
I think maybe it's just some buggy drivers? Anybody experienced something similar with other mice maybe? Or know how I solve this problem.

I looked around on the web and read a bit about your Zowie EC1. It's a very nice mouse that I need to put on my Christmas list
But it seems that it should be recognized by Windows as a normal USB mouse and install generic drivers. I have a couple of questions:
1) Are there any Windows Updates for your hardware waiting to be installed?
2) Do you have all the Apple Boot Camp drivers installed? Apple just released 3.3 if you're not on Lion (which is 4.0)

How can I partition internal HDD after installing Windows 7 Professional via Boot Camp 4.0?

I recently purchased MacBook Pro 13" (Late 2011) model with OS X v10.7.2 Lion installed. I've upgraded to OS X v10.7.3 Lion and updated all other software.
I require Windows 7 for some Windows based softwares that do not support Mac OS X. Therefore, used Boot Camp 4.0 to install Windows 7 and then tried partitioning single internal HDD to have 3 partitions (4 total including BOOTCAMP partition). Disk Utility created a 648.5MB partition and then I was able to create 3 other partitions of custom sizes. After applying these changes, I got an error message that said selected volume size is too small. I resized this 648.5MB partion to a custom size and had total 4 partitions, including BOOTCAMP.
After reapplying these changes, BOOTCAMP partition was removed and I was left with only 3 partitions and empty space.
I've tried several different ways to partition the disk, all in vein. Is there a way I can partition my single internal HDD after installing Windows 7 Professional via Boot Camp 4.0?

You can't do what you want with GUI utilities, which will only allow a total of 4 partitions due to the limitation of MBR needed to support Windows. Those four partitions: EFI System (hidden), Mac OS, Recovery HD (hidden), Windows. So with Lion, you only get two visible partitions if you're going to use Windows with BootCamp. You can't make anymore with the included graphical tools.
If you need more partitions you'll need to use something like GPT fdisk (gdisk) to create the partitions in the GPT first. Then add the Windows partition only to the MBR and flag it as bootable. gdisk can be googled and downloaded for Mac OS X off sourceforge. It is not a GUI tool.

Baiscally if your Mini came with Lion Pre-installed new then No you can't use XP.
The Lion installed computers no longer support XP OR Vista via Apple's Boot Camp.
For one thing Apple only supported XP with SP2 in order to install it on pre Lion computers.
If the Mini had come pre-installed new with say 10.6 then you could have installed XP and still of been able to upgrade to Lion without any issues as you already have the drivers for XP installed. Lion only has the drivers for W7.

After a lot of trial and error I have a repeatable process for installing Windows 8.1 on a 2014 MacBook Pro using Boot Camp.
If you have a Windows 8.1 DVD, use Disk Utility to create an ISO image (DVD/CD Master). When done rename the extension to .iso
Use Boot Camp to create a bootable USB that contains Windows 8.1 and Apples drivers (basically check all options). It doesn't matter if its USB 2 or 3, but it is a lot faster if USB 3
Allow Boot Camp to create your Windows 8.1 partition
IMPORTANT. When Boot Camp tries to reboot to begin the installation process, hold the Option key and select MacOS again. If you miss this, force a reboot, holding down Option
Enter Disk Utility and delete the "BOOTCAMP" partition. To do this select the "BOOTCAMP" partition and click Minus
Create a new partition in its place using the ExFAT partition type. Call it "BOOTCAMP"
Reboot again holding Option, this time selecting the Windows USB
When prompted for the partition to install Windows onto, select the one called "BOOTCAMP". It will complain that it isn't the right type. This is perfect. Select Format. Now click Continue
Follow Microsoft's installation steps, ensuring that you allow the installer to finish. It will take a long time and appear to hang with "Almost ready". Just wait. It took about 30 minutes for me. It will automatically start Apples driver installation. Just follow the prompts

Yes, just not on the RAID. Boot Camp Assistant will only partition a single drive containing OS X. You cannot partition a RAID array.

Microsoft store will provide a download manager (.exe) using your Product Key, which needs to be run on a PC. This manager will then let you download an ISO image to a USB and/or DVD.

Please find your Mac Model Identifier from About This Mac -> (More Info) -> System Report -> Hardware and compare it to the following list. If your model identifier appears in this list, you can only install Windows 7.
