Installing Windows 7 on MacBook Air

I brought this MacBook Air laptop last December 2009. I was wondering how to install windows 7 professional on it? im in school so i just need to use windows 7 and office 7 for school.
my boot camp assistant version is 3.0.1 (313). do i need to upgrade this?
i printed out the installation print out and it only talks about windows xp and vista so i figure i must need an updated version.
my processor is 2.13 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. would you know if this processor has the intel-VT (hardware virtualization) for running in windows xp mode?
if there is anyone who could guide me through this that would be awesome!

so i was looking into buying windows 7 i was doing all the researching like checking out the system requirements. it seems like i could satisfy all the requirements so i go to buy windows 7 and it turns out that the school deal wanted to sell me windows 7 upgrade. i don't think windows 7 upgrade will work?
then i opt to install an old version of windows xp with service pack 2 that i had kept on to for like 6 years. i couldn't get that to work after trying for 2 to 3 hours. idon't know i had trouble with having bootcamp reboot the mac and start up again in window with the installation disk inside. that didn't work. thats frustrating i got burned.
now i just aborted the mission and when i start up the macbook air or restarting it takes like 20 or 30 seconds longer to boot up again. i don't know everything is solid no data is missing. its just the machine takes longer to boot. something is not right about and now im just kind of annoyed by that.
do you think you know what the problem can be and what shall i do now (about it)?

Installing windows on Macbook Air without using Superdrive

I'm ready to switch from PC to MBA but there is a problem. I thought that I would be able to install windows to MBA through the remote disc feature. But I read in the apple's support page that I'll need to have the superdrive to install windows on MBA.
Is there a way to install windows without the need of a superdrive?
And if not, is there a possibility that the remote disc feature will allow the install of windows in MBA in the near future?

Wondering if anyone can advise me on where I'm going wrong..
I've tried to install Windows XP Professional with service pack 2 (original disk) on my Macbook Air, with SuperDrive, but keep on getting this message after the first part of the installation is complete: "Disk error, Press any key to restart" (pressed any key but wouldn't do anything).
Here is what I have tried:
1. Opened Boot Camp and split the partition in half (even tried 32GB)
2. After this process is complete, Boot Camp asks to insert the Windows CD, did this and pressed OK.
3. The system rebooted in Windows Installer
4. Asks where I want to install Windows, I selected C:/ (BOOT CAMP) FAT32
5. Copies all of the Windows setup files
6. Then tells you the system will restart after 20 or so seconds, and if you want to restart press ENTER
7. The system restarts, but in Mac OSX. I've then tried the whole process again, and when it restarts I hold down the Option key.
8. A boot menu appears giving 3 options: 1. Mac OS, 2. Windows, 3. Windows CD
9. I select Windows CD (also have tried Windows)
10. Blank screen appears and says: Press any key to boot from CD....
11. I dont press anything then the message appears: "Disk error, Press any key to restart"
Can anyone help me to solve this please?

Installing Windows 7 Macbook Air

Hey all,
I've been working on this for days, and I've been trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) onto my MacBook Air I bought last year. I'm having a problem with Bootcamp assistant though; whenever I tell it to create a windows 7 install disc, it says that I need a USB drive connected to the machine. I did this, reformatting a USB key as a windows partition, however when it was done, Bootcamp assistant just closed and left me in the dark as to what to do next. I have blank, rewritable DVD's, a windows 7 ISO image, pretty much everything I need, I just want to install it "normally", and without a USB drive. Any clues as to how to proceed?
P.S.: I did this on my MacBook pro last week, and it works fine. I didn't need to use a USB drive, I just burned the ISO image to a disc first with Disk Utility, then followed the manual and onscreen instructions.

There are a few others like this with pictures but can't remember where. Look for @jacktourist's post, it should be page 2.
In order to get around the Authentication/permissions I just right(option) clicked the plist file, select Copy "Info.Plist", clicked on desktop, right click Paste Item then opened the file (in TextEdit) and added my info to the top of the list, saved, then dragged the info.plist from the desktop backed to the Contents file, authenticated, then Replace, and all was ducky.
I has to be opened or saved as PlainText in order for it to work if using TextEdit if you get the "Can't save as rtf" error.
Should look similar to this. Some people have to add theirs to the bottom OR the top of the list in order for it to work.

Install windows on MacBook Air SSD?

Hello,
I'm interested in buying a 1.6 GHz (or 1.8 GHz) MacBook Air with a 64GB solid-state drive.
Is it possible to run Windows on such a machine using either Parallels or VMware Fusion?
I won't need to use iLife on this MacBook Air.

Yes, there is enough space on the drive. VMWare Fusion itself needs 140 MB of space. The VM with XP will need about 15 GB once you get all your software on there (Office, etc). There won't be masses of space left, but it will go. I would advice using Monolingual http://monolingual.sourceforge.net/ to remove all unnecessary language packages from OS X. That alone will save you as much space as your XP install without additional software.
Windows runs very well indeed under WMWare Fusion on my MBA for all regular tasks (office apps, email, surfing, IM). What it obviously would not do so well would be graphic-intensive games or CPU-intensive tasks like video editing.
I would recommend Windows 2000 or XP as the guest OS. Definitely not Vista.

It is a Total Misconception that the Support files are installed when you are installing Windows, even if the USB drive that holds them is inserted in the system when doing the Windows install.
You must always Run the Setup.exe files from the support files or run the drivers individually once Windows has finished installing and booted to the desktop.
Also you really need to run the Boot Camp Control Panel Applet and check for updates as not all the newest drivers for full function of all the hardware is included with the original support download. That download is basically a generic version to get the system working and without doing the updates not everything will work properly.

It would be appreciated if anybody can help me to install iWork to MacBook Air.
I have another laptop with Windows 7 and problem finding DVD or CD Sharing on control panel.
I believe iWork would provide the office tools like Word, Excel and PowerPoint in MS Office tools.

I assume you have installed "DVD or CD Sharing" from the OS X install disc (or USB stick if you have the latest MBA)?
Try installing it again perhaps.

When Software Update says I have apps to update, it will not let ne update the ones that came installed with my macbook air, OS 10.8.2. App stare says to login as the user who originally purchased, yet I am logged in as that user. Have tried loggin out and back in but that does not work. Any ideas?

Do you have access to another Mac with a disk drive? If so you can do it in one of two ways:
1 - on the Mac with the optical drive launch Disk Utility and make a disk image of the iLife 11 disk. Connect the two Macs together and transfer the disk image to your MacBook Air. Mount the disk image and install from it. I have my iLife disks saved that way for quick and easy reinstall when necessary.
2 - connect the two Mac together so you can access the MBA from the Mac with the disk drive. Insert the iLife disk, and install from the second Mac to the MBA.

You've posted this question in the AppleWorks community, meant for discussion of issues and techniques involving Apple's now discontinued productivity application, AppleWorks.
The answer to your Pages question depends on how, and with which licence, you purchased iWork or Pages.
If you:
-Downloaded the thirty day trial of iWork, then purchased a registration number to activate it,
OR
-purchased and installed iWork from the boxed DVD retail package,
then you purchased either a one user, one machine licence, and will need to either remove the iWork applications from your iMac when you install the package on the Air, or purchase a new copy of the individual applications you want and install them on the air.
OR
you purchased a Family Licence, which permits you to install and use iWork on up to five computers owned by members of the same family, living under the same roof.
If you downloaded Pages (with or without the other iWork applications), then your licence permits you to download and install the application(s) on any compatible device attached to the same Mac app store ID as was the Mac on which it was originally installed.
