Installing windows based drivers

i'm one of the unlucky ones who has issues when installing gfx drivers on my imac for windows. my screen goes black when i do it through the dvd, so i had to update them manually. my question, is this:
since i don't have any of the drivers installed from the DVD, i can't use basic functions such as the number pad, eject button on keyboard, etc. is there a way i can manually download these drivers and install them one by one? i want to avoid having my gfx mess up and not be able to use windows (again). currently running leopard.

If you are using Bootcamp, burn the drivers CD through Bootcamp on the Mac end. When you boot back up in windows pop in the CD you just burned, it will install a most if not all the drivers you will need.

  • Boot camp 4 can't install windows support drivers

    Hi everyone,
I have the new imac 27" with thunderbolt and preinstalled Lion. They dont give you a CD.
I run Boot Camp assistant (version 4.0) and try to install windows on a purchased DVD Windows 7 x64 ( i am a recent convert to mac but still need some windows proggys.)
Ok so once I run the installation It asks me to download the windows support drivers... I do this but then it stops 3/4 through the process and comes up with an error "can't install windows support drivers".
Do any of you out know how to fix this???
Also If I dont use the option to update the software before installing and just select install windows 7 (second option) from a disc. It installs windows fine BUT it wont install any of the network, usb, camera, graphics and sound drivers. so basicaly I am blocked from the internet for windows to update the drivers. I also cant get the driver files from another computer as the mac in windows mode can recognised usb sticks as the drivers arent installed.
I need help urgently on this as it is doing my head
    Thanks in advance.
    Daniel!

    Yes, but.
Open Network Preferences>Network>Advanced>Proxies and uncheck everything (try Passive Mode on, and off, but no auto Proxies)
    And try again.

Yes, I had MBA burn Apple's Window support software to a DVD. In Windows I am getting "Hardware not found" and during another attempt (using windows's update driver) "driver not found".

  • How do I install windows 7 drivers correctly on my macbook pro retina?

I've installed Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) twice now, and each time I get on, none of the bootcamp drivers seem to be installed correctly.  This means I can't access the internet because a network adapter isn't present, and I can't play games because the NVIDIA drivers aren't there.  I've seen other people have had this problem in the past, but their fix was to download bootcamp 3.x from Apple's download site, but obviously that doesn't work now as the version is newer.
Does anyone know how to correctly install Windows so this doesn't happen, or how to get the drivers installed correctly?
Thank you very much for your time

For 2 reasons, and they are about the hardware.
    1) Apple/Mac and BC restrict the way you use the computer. Maybe not for you but for me. It does not allow you to create any other parttitions for Windows to use. You can't even re-partition the BC partition into 2 drives. That will HOSE the Windows system and maybe the OS X part.
    2) Apple/Mac does not allow the use of all the hardware. You can not use both graphic cards. switch between them. Windows Must use the descrete graphics adapter which cause the system to run hotter. This is a limitation imposed by Apple as with Reall Windows PCs that have both the Interl embedded and add-on descrete graphics you can switch between them.
Actually BC 4 has been out since Lion shipped on new Mac's. BC 4 also restricted the installation of Windows to just Win 7, no more XP. Which was what you could do with Snow Leopard and BC 3

  • Having trouble installing Windows 8 drivers

I know this has been asked a million times but I couldn't find a specific answer to my problem. I previously had Windows 7 on my boot camp partition and then I decided to install Windows 8 a couple months ago. I'm just now getting around to installing the drivers and I'm having issues.
Long story short, I downloaded the Windows Support Software onto my external drive (formatted MS-DOS(FAT). I then boot into my Win 8 partition and open up my external drive. There are two folders "$WinPEDrivers$" and "Bootcamp." I open up the bootcamp folder and run "setup." The setup installs the video card drivers and then prompts me to install Bootcamp Version 5.0. I try to do so and it will not let me procceed. I get the error "Boot Camp requires that your computer is running Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows Vista." I dont completely understand this at all considering it is the latest version of Boot Camp I am installing on Windows 8. Any help would be much appreciated. Installing these drivers are turning into a pain.

    always include which Mac.
depends on things like did you just install over 7?
how much free space? have you gone into disk cleanup and removed the old Windows?
    do you run CCleanup?
Clean up the TEMP folder is always a good idea

  • Installing Windows 7 drivers without  the Mac OS dvd.

    Hello everyone,
I recently installed windows 7 on my mac computer via boot camp. I now have to install the drivers from the OS dvd. Problem is I don't have it with me. Is there any other way I can install those drivers? Is it possible to download them online? Can I have someone email those files to me or dropbox them (do they have to be running windows to do so)?
PLEASE GIVE ME A RESPONSE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
    and thank you.

I am in the same dilemna and have been dealing with this all weekend, the Apple store genius and the AppleCare person suggested downloading the latest OS 10.6.8 updates.  I also already downloaded the bootcamp 3.1 update, but that says there is no bootcamp 3.0 to upgrade from. Perhaps its not relevant.
Now, loading the bootcamp assistant utility gives me an option to "download windows support software".  I'm crossing my fingers that this works, and assuming if it does, it will include the latest updates, rendering my 3.1 update useless.
There is a settings control panel where you can "test performance" in the windows 7, when i ran it scores were 7 and 8 for processor, harddrive and RAM, but 1.0 for the graphics card.  In other words, the driver wasn't installed yet.  Once that number goes up I'll know I'm in business.

  • BSOD when installing windows 7 drivers using bootcamp in macbook pro late 2013

I followed the bootcamp instructions and installed windows 7 in my macbook pro 13 inch late 2013. But when the bootcamp starts to install the required drivers, halfway through the computer goes to BSOD. And after restart windows shows many error messages of "validation error".
I have a student licensed windows 7 professional.

I had the same problem. I  was installing a Debug Build of Windows 7 on MacBook Pro 15" Late 2013 with a student license and it would die with BSOD while running BootCamp at the end of Windows installation. I solved the probelm by downloading a non-Debug version of Windows 7 Professional with Service Pack 1 and re-trying the installation from scratch. That is, I went back to OS X, launched BootCamp Assistant, erased the previous partition of Windows and re-created it again. After that, I installed a fresh copy of the right flavor of WIndows and it worked flawelessly.

  • Unable to install windows 7 drivers

Hi, I have installed windows 7 using the bootcamp created USB. Before I did that, I have also downloaded and saved the Windows Support files to a separate USB. After I installed windows, I tried to install the drivers, but windows couldn't read the USB because it is missing the drivers. (which are on the USB).
*Sidenote* I have also installed windows 7 using the bootcamp on my macbook pro. I had the same driver issue, so I just burned the drivers to a CD, but the mac mini doesn't have an optical drive.

    Hello everyone,
As the struggle was real, I thought I would also participate in this thread and share my testimonial with you.
For more than a week, I had been attempting to set up Windows 7 x64 on my mid-2014 MacBook Air 13", but to no avail. I was so sick of witnessing the infamous black screen, "no bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key", or the "select your language" window in the Windows 7 PE with no keyboard nor mouse alive, that I had almost given up on it all.
But that was before I came across the present thread. I diligently applied your procedure and IT WORKED LIKE MAGIC
    My specs:
    - Mid-2014 MacBook Air 13" with pre-installed Mac OS 10.9 (Mavericks)
    - Windows 7 x64 Home Premium ISO file
    - The most basic USB 2.0 flashdrive one can get
    - (Note: I did not have rEFIt installed)
You must be some kind of wizard. I signed up just to upvote this, no kidding!
I sincerely wish this post gets the visibility it deserves.
    Thank you so much!

  • Is there way to install OS and drivers without recovery CD?

    Hi...
I installed my notebook with the recovery cd...
but i get disappointed because it installed a lot of unusual programs...like aol, sonic-pro, games...
is that a way to install windows and drivers only ?? without this boring programs ???
i don't want to uninstall after instalation...it's not the same thing...

    Hi
I cant understand user who bye a high performance notebook with many different features and then will not use this functions. Of course, on the Toshiba recovery CD you will find the OS and all Toshiba drivers and utilities. Without this drivers and tools and utilities you will be not able to use the additional Toshiba functions.
But as in the previous posting mentioned you can install the fresh Windows OS and then you can install the drivers. But the easiest way is to use the Tosh recovery CD and then if you want you can remove some applications.

  • Installing AMD Video Drivers - Windows 8.1 (Step-By-Step Tutorial)

I am currently in the process of installing the latest AMD Video Drivers for Windows 8.1 (64-bit) on a Bootcamp partition.  I previously had three ATI Radeon HD2600XT Graphics cards (in CrossFire) installed in a 2008 Apple Mac Pro.
I've run into several problems with trying to remove the Radeon HD2600XT graphics cards and install the latest drivers (for the Radeon R9 290 graphics card) in Windows 8.1 (64-bit), so I am creating this to be used as tutorial for others experiencing similar problems.
    1) First I created a new/clean system restore point in Windows 8.1 prior to starting this.
Instructions can be found here:  http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-create-restore-point-in-windows-8-1/
    2) Second, I manually tried removing/uninstalling the AMD Software from add/remove programs in Windows 8.1 (Control Panel)
In Computer Control Panel, select "uninstall a program"
Select AMD Install Manager (and any Catalyst Software) and remove/uninstall the software (choose "express uninstall all AMD software").
Be sure to uninstall the AMD Install Manager.
    3) In my system, the hardware drivers for the three Radeon XT2600 graphics cards were not properly removed, and the drivers for the Radeon R9 290 were not properly installed.
    4) I tried running the AMD Driver Autodetect Tool
It stated "We were unable to find your product or OS" (and failed to download or install any drivers)
AMD Driver Autodetect displayed the following information:
    Graphics hardware:  0x1002 - 0x9588 PCIE
    Operating system: Windows 8.1 64-bit
    5) Since the latest software/drivers were not found with the AMD Driver Autodetect, I decided to manually download the latest Graphics card drivers from the AMD website for my graphics card and for my operating system (Windows 8.1 64-bit).  I created a folder called "C:\Drivers\AMD" and downloaded the latest AMD Graphics card drivers (Catalyst Software Suite 14.9) to that folder and unzipped the AMD drivers installation file.  I unzipped the file which included the following drivers/files:
Catalyst Software Suite 14.9 includes the following files:
                AMD Display Driver ver. 14.301.1001
                              OpenCL(tm) Driver
                              Catalyst Control Center
                              HydraVision
    6) I downloaded and unzipped DDU v13.5.1.3 (downloaded from 3D Guru)
I created a folder called "C:\Drivers\DDUv13.5.1.3" and unzipped the DDU installation files to that folder
    7) I ran DDU v13.5.1.3 (downloaded from 3D Guru)
          It displayed the following information:
    DDU Version:13.5.1.3
GPU # 0000 Detected : ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.1)
    GPU DeviceId : pci\ven_1002&dev_9588
    Detected Driver(s) Version(s) : 8.97.10.6
    INF : oem55.inf
    INF Section : ati2mtag_RV630
GPU # 0001 Detected : ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.1)
    GPU DeviceId : pci\ven_1002&dev_9588
    Detected Driver(s) Version(s) : 8.97.10.6
    INF : oem55.inf
    INF Section : ati2mtag_RV630
    GPU # 0002 Detected : AMD Radeon R9 200 Series
    GPU DeviceId : pci\ven_1002&dev_67b1
    Detected Driver(s) Version(s) : 13.251.9001.1001
    INF : oem63.inf
    INF Section : ati2mtag_Hawaii
    5) Based on the output above, it seems that some extremely old drivers are currently installed (v13.251.9001.1001), and I need to remove the old drivers for the hardware above, and try to install the latest AMD drivers (v14.9)
    6) I rebooted the computer into Windows 8.1 "Safe Mode".
Instructions can be found here:  http://www.7tutorials.com/5-ways-boot-safe-mode-windows-8-windows-81
    7) I went to the folder called "C:\Drivers\DDUv13.5.1.3" and ran DDU v13.5.1.3 and selected "Clean and restart" (in DDU 13.5.1.3) to remove ALL of the existing AMD drivers and to restart/reboot the computer.
      - After removing the current display drivers (in safe mode) with DDU v13.5.1.3 and after the system rebooted, I then tried to perform a "clean install" of the latest AMD drivers (v14.9)
    8) Now perform a "Clean Install" of the new AMD graphics drivers.  Steps for performing a "clean install" (from AMD's website) are listed below:
To perform a 'clean install' of AMD graphics drivers:
You should make a system restore point before attempting, just in case
    1. IMPORTANT: All Windows Updates should be current, including the 'optional/suggested' updates
    2. IMPORTANT: Disable all anti-virus/ad blockers/anti-malware/ anti-anything before trying to install
    3. IMPORTANT: Netframework is required and must be the latest version. (from Windows Update)
Download the drivers for your computer to the desktop. Follow steps 1-5 ( http://support.amd.com/en-us/download ).
Do not use 'auto-detect and install (it might not detect your graphics card or best drivers).
Delete existing drivers from your computer:
In computer control panel select 'uninstall a program'
    For computers with Intel processors:
Select AMD install manager and choose 'express uninstall all AMD software'
    Including the install manager.
    For computers with AMD processors:
Select AMD install manager and 'custom uninstall' the graphics drivers and CCC only.
    Reboot into 'safe mode'
In safe mode run Guru 3D's DDU
    Reboot
    Install the new driver suite.
    9) I went to the folder called "C:\Drivers\AMD\AMD-Catalyst-14-9-win7-win8.1-64Bit-dd-ccc-whql" and ran setup.exe  (Catalyst Install Manager)
I selected "Express Install" as the default installation (highly recommended).
    10) Rebooted the system after the Catalyst software and video driver installation.

In the end, I found out that the latest/newest Radeon drivers do not support the older Apple Radeon 2600XT graphics cards, so I was forced to remove the older Radeon 2600XT graphics cards from the system (so the newest/latest Radeon Catalyst Drivers would work).  I was then able to boot directly into Windows 8.1 Pro, and the AMD Catalyst software and AMD Catalyst Drivers worked perfectly with the R9 290 graphics card (in Windows 8.1 Pro).
The only problem is that the AMD R9 290 is not supported in OS X, and now I can't boot directly into OS X because the Apple OS X graphics card drivers are missing and don't exist.  Apple hasn't added AMD R9 290 graphics card support to the latest version of Apple OS X 10.10 Yosemite (or 10.9).
I posted a thread here about needing the AMD R9 290 graphics display drivers, but Apple still hasn't added the latest AMD Radeon R9 290 graphics card drivers support to the latest Apple Mac OS X 10.10.1 Yosemite operating system.
    Another big Apple fail!
So now we have a wonderful new high-end AMD R9 290 graphics card and all we can do is use our Apple Mac Pro computers as Windows 8.1 Pro computers, because Apple has not updated their Apple OS X operating system to support the newest/latest AMD R9 290 graphics cards.  (So we're stuck with using our Apple Mac Pro as a Windows 8.1 Pro computer) because Apple refuses to add the newest/latest hardware drivers to their latest Apple OS X operating system.  Anytime you purchase an Apple computer you are stuck using really old hardware because Apple fails to update their operating system with the newest/latest hardware drivers for the latest AMD R9 290 graphics card hardware.
The only way to use the latest/newest hardware is with a Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro computer.  Hopefully Apple will get this fixed immediately, but it's already been close to a year now and Apple still hasn't fixed the problem.
We tried to contact Sapphire, and AMD, but both of them have said that it's a problem with Apple's Mac OS X operating system, and that only Apple can fix the problem and add the proper hardware drivers to their operating system.

  • Windows 8 crashes and with the error "kernel_security_check_failure" after installing Boot Camp drivers.

    Hi!
I've got a new 27" iMac (late 2013), and I was going to install Windows 8.1 (64-bit) to be able to play a few games.
Everything went smoothly (installed normally via Boot Camp Assistant), and after the Windows setup, the Boot Camp drivers needed to be installed. After this, the computer rebooted, but crashed at a blue screen with the error called "kernel_security_check_failure".
It rebooted a few times on its own, but after a few times, I got some options, and I chose to "refresh" the Windows 8 install, meaning it would reset the install while keeping my files (even though I didn't have any, as I never got to use it). This took some time, but it worked, and it booted into W8.
The Boot Camp drivers had been removed though, so I had to reinstall them. After they had reinstalled, the computer rebooted and the same blue screen with the same error hit me.
Something tells me that some of the BC drivers are messing things up. I can't find any information on this elsewhere.
Would it be possible to install only selected drivers, to eventually find out which driver is causing the problem?
    All help is greatly appreciated!

I finally gave up, reloaded everything, this time, using WIn 8.1 Pro, not Enterprise.  After I did the updates, patches, Norton 360, shut computer down and connected the external drives, and booted up...and got the BSOD.  This time, I went to Microsoft and downloaded the Windows Debugger, and think I may have found the problem...NORTON!
