Installing Windows XP Pro on Bootcamp

I'm new to the imac and this is the first time that I have used one. I'm trying to install Windows XP Pro with service pack 3. I also have a version of Windows XP Pro with service pack 2.
In total I have three Windows XP Pro disks which I have tried installing on Bootcamp but without success. All three versions are full versions and not upgrades. One version is an OEM with service pack 2 and the other two versions are volume licenses with service pack 3.
I've performed all the software upgrades before doing the installation as advised. My hard drive is 640GB and I am allocating 100GB to the Windows partition, so I'm going to choose NTFS as the format of the partition.
When I try the installation with the OEM disk I don't get the agreement screen or the screen where you choose the format of the partition i.e FAT 32 or NTFS. During the installation I can get as far as the files being copied to the windows folder, then I get an error message saying that a file cannot be copied, it's not the same file each time. If I'm lucky and it does copy all the files at this point it then reboots itself and I then have a plain black screen saying that an error has occured and the whole thing just freezes.
When I try the installation using either of the volume license disks I get all the screens as shown in the instruction guide but I only get as far as the files being copied to the windows folder, but it never gets to the 100% completion stage and I have to press F3 to exit the installation, then when it reboots it just freezes. Each time when it's copying the files you can hear the DVD drive start to slow down and finally grind to a halt.
This is as far as I ever get with the installation. Can anyone help me with this problem?

I don't have a definite solution. I had much the same problem early on.
The nearest I could get to the problem was that the Superdrive may have been slightly off calibration.
Then I thought if it's a calibration problem, and it seems a bit different each time I try to install from the Windows DVD, then there is another problem possibly related to the Superdrive.
It was all trial and error and took many hours to resolve but I did overcome it.
The Superdrive was over heating. Your iMac is constructed way differently to my troubled Mac Pro but the same scenario could still be possible. So I suggest that ways be found to cool the iMac, maybe with an external fan blowing on it or installing SMC Fan Control, or both.
Oops, SMC Fan Control runs under the MacOS so it will be useless when Windows is booted and installing from the DVD. External cooling is your best bet if overheating is the problem.

I really dislike Win 8. It is made for desktops and tablets but is bad on the desktop.
During the public beta, MS gave users a way to bypass the Metro interface (MS themselves no longer call it Metro. Lord knows why). Just before the official release, they declared Metro was so great, everyone should be forced to use a tablet interface on a desktop computer and removed the simple option to bypass it. It didn't take long for others to develop and release ways to get around that. Here's three options. The first two cost a few bucks. The last is a freebie.

As I don't have Win 8 myself, I have not tried any of these. On the last link the author of the freebie (next to the word Download) even notes the second option, StartIsBack, is better than his attempt.
Overall, I've read that Win 8 is better than Win 7 as far as performance. Faster and better security. It's the Metro interface many people can't stand.

Hi. Because both Mavericks and Windows 8 are still new, they may not be free of error. Apple needs more time to perform more tests to ensure that these two different OS's will work properly without getting in conflicts. If it's posdible, I highly recommand you to downgrade back to Lion or Mountain Lion and install Windows 7 (if you have a copy of it). In my experience, all advises from Genius Bar members and computer articles confirm that Windows 7 will work on Macs with Lion OS. It should also work on Mountain Lion. Besides Boot Camp, you could try to virtualize Windows OS and its applications by using VirtualBox, CrossOver and other VMs. I already have an Oracle VirtualBox but I would like to try Boot Camp since it allows me to enjoy almost all Windows features that may be limited in VMs.

The bootcamp drivers have been downloaded from apple's website. Filename: BootCamp5.0.5033
I have a iMac 27" late 2013 model.
NOTE: I have downloaded the drivers manually from apples support site as the bootcamp wizard fails third of the way through the download.

There is a missing point in this thread, and it is that the Boot Camp drivers for the Late 2013 iMac can only be downloaded from Boot Camp Assistant. The Boot Camp drivers available in the Apple site are not compatible with that iMac.
Delete the Boot Camp drivers from the USB drive, open Boot Camp Assistant and try to download the Boot Camp drivers again. If you get a message telling you that they could not be downloaded, I would try reinstalling OS X through OS X Recovery, by holding down Command and R keys while your Mac is starting up

Install Windows 7 Pro 64bit on MacBook Pro 15" Mid 2014

Trying to install Window 7 Pro on my new MacBook Pro 15" Mid 2014. I went through the following:
Attempt 1: Downloading the latest bootcamp support drivers, copied on flash drive and used BCA for partitioning. Booting from Ext. DVD with USB pin drive containing the drivers inserted
Attempt 2: Using ISO to create a bootable USB pin drive with bootcamp support drivers on the same..
Both attempts ended being unable to pass Windows 7 language selection screen. Mouse/Trackpad/Keyboard are not working.
Windows 8.1 pro works fine, but I'm not very happy with it..
Any advice?

The primary challenge is due to absence of proper drivers on the W7 installer to support the USB ports. One thing to check is if the USB is a USB2 or USB3. USB3 pen drives will not work.
You should also try Attempt 2 using all available USB ports available, one at a time. Disconnect any other peripherals other than KM and USB before you start installation. BT devices are not very stable when used.
If you can see any files in the Bootcamp volume from the OSX side, look for installer logs for details.

USB gaming mouse unrecognized by Windows 7 Pro (via BootCamp)

Hey,
I bought a Zowie EC1 Gaming USB mouse. But when I plug it into my MacBook Pro 15" running Windows 7 Pro (via BootCamp), then the mousewheel flashes blue shortly for 1 second or so, and the driver installation process starts. After awhile it says hardware unsuccesfully installed. And when I re-plug the mouse in the same USB port it says unrecognized.
I think maybe it's just some buggy drivers? Anybody experienced something similar with other mice maybe? Or know how I solve this problem.

I looked around on the web and read a bit about your Zowie EC1. It's a very nice mouse that I need to put on my Christmas list
But it seems that it should be recognized by Windows as a normal USB mouse and install generic drivers. I have a couple of questions:
1) Are there any Windows Updates for your hardware waiting to be installed?
2) Do you have all the Apple Boot Camp drivers installed? Apple just released 3.3 if you're not on Lion (which is 4.0)

I have some issue when installing windows 7 pro 64 bit using boot camp. after done partitioning the windows drive and when boot to windows installation process, i've got stuck in the first screen when choosing the language. it seems that the keyboard and mouse are not detected.

I have finally successfully installed Windows 7 x64 on MacBook Air 13.3" (2013) thru Bootcamp.
Problem: After Windows 7 install thru BootCamp, I got to the first login screen and not input devices (Mouse, keyboard, USB) worked. I tried to boot into Windows Safemode, but I received the error "Windows can not complete installation in Safe Mode".
Cause: WIndows 7 does not have native USB 3.0 drivers, included on the install images.
Resolution: I downloaded the latest device drivers with thru BootCamp and copied them to the USB Flash Drive that had my bootable Windows 7 x64 install on it. The second option in BootCamp is "Download Support Media". This does more than just download drivers. It creates a file called "autoattended.xml". This is key as it tells Windows during the install process to use the device drivers that you download. Otherwise, you need to do it manually, which you can't because you have no mouse or keyboard.
NOTE: I had no need of a super drive because I had all the files on one USB flash drive. Therefore, I don't think it matter which side of the MBA the USB drive was plugged in, as other solutions suggested.

I installed Windows 8 Pro, upgrading from Windows 7. Once this upgrade, just notice that the sound not working, Function (Fn) keyboard to adjust the screen, volume (F1-F12) not working, along with others Drivers Error at device Manager.

Requirements
1. Run Your Mac OS, go to Bootcamp and download the Bootcamp.
2. Stored your files at External Harddrive, or USB Stick
3. Boot into your Windows 8

- Open Your Device Manager
- Locate the drive to Drive:\WindowsSupport\Boot Camp\Drivers\NVidia\
- it fill find "it will update NVIDIA nForce PCI System Management"
Coprocessor Driver
- Open Your Device Manager
- Locate the drive to Drive:\WindowsSupport\Boot Camp\Drivers\NVidia\
- it will find "NVIDIA nForce System Management Contorller"
iSight
- Open D:\WindowsSupport\Boot Camp\Drivers\Apple
- Install AppleiSightInstaller
This should fixed all the driver issues and Sound and get the Windows 8 working nicely, except for
- one annoying error message "Bluetooth USB Host Controller" in the device manager. Not sure what the impact.
- Keyboard Fn Function.

Does anyone have any do's and dont's about installing Windows XP Pro on a 20" IMAC (OS X 10.5.7) via Boot Camp. All I want to have on the partition is Quickbooks Pro 2009, Anti Virus Program and possibly PC version of Office,

Have you tried emulation software, such as Parallels or VMFusion? None of the programs you list are overly intensive, so you may be able to get them working fine in an emulator--which means you wouldn't have to restart the machine to use those programs. Both of the programs I listed offer free trials.
Additionally, there's a few free options that are similar to MS Office that work on the Mac. NeoOffice & OpenOffice are the first that come to mind.
If you do choose to go with BootCamp, here's some pointers:
1) Get your data backed up at least once before you do anything
2) Only use the BootCamp Assistant to partition the drive and/or delete the partition
3) Go for free anti-virus, such as AVG Free. It does the job just fine.
4) Make sure you follow the BootCamp instructions carefully--if you don't, you'll find that your OS X partition mysteriously vanishes.

After you install Apple driver to enable the audio chip, YOU then need to manually download and install (Cirrus or Realtek audio depending on the Mac).

Hi guys and thanks for your help. Yes, after authenication and working on this Windows partition, I have less than 3GB space. Also, I cannot drag and drop files from desktop, like a text file into the Windows partition. Says it doesn't have permissions to drop files.
It looks like now I will in fact have to start from scratch and repartition the HD but put in a minimal 12GB or so into the Windows partition. Also, I tried to name the Windows label, but it's locked and under get info, it says the Windows partition is read only, ownership grayed out and says it is NT coded format. Shouldn't that be MS-DOS or FAT 32 automatically?
I have to tell all of you that this is getting time consuming, too complicated and when I get my own ProBook, I have no desire to install VISTA or MS whatever. Plus, we have to still do the MS security pack updates and install virus software for the Windows partition, isn't that correct?
Is there a step by step link here like a BootCamp/Windows XP Pro installation tutorial so I can move a bit faster on my next attempt?

I installed windows 8 pro edition (64bit) on my mackbook pro and after installtion i run bootcamp 5.0.5.33 everything working find but only sound card not installing i have a red cross sign on my speaker in taskbar.
after trying alot of things like reinstalling windows, audio drivers etc. but no success.
then once again i downloaded boot camp 5 with bottcamp assistant from my mac but still not working.
any idea?

people repport the drivers that bootcamp tool on osx creates include newer drivers then the 5.0.5.33 zip file from their web site

Short answer: I cheated.
I'm running a Macbook Pro 15" Retina display without an optical drive. Fortunately, I also have a Windows 7 box that I used to create a .iso from my Windows 8.1 Pro DVD, and transfered that onto a USB Flash Drive that I let Boot Camp Assistant work with to create the volume needed to set up Boot Camp and install Windows 8.1.
I read some articles that talked about being able to download an .iso from Microsoft directly. You might want to search online or the Microsoft site to find out options for downloading the correct .iso from them. As long as you already have the product key you purchased, it's not like they lose a sale.
Other than that, I couldn't figure it out.
If you're on an iMac or have a SuperDrive there may be options within Disk Utility to read the Windows 8.1 DVD and create a .iso file from there.
Can't swear to it, but if I couldn't have "cheated" those were the things I'd have investigated.
