Installing Windows XP Pro SP2 on K7N2 Delta2-FSR + AMD Athlon XP 2500+

I tried and tried to install the Windows XP Pro SP2, but it just doesn't work.  I don't use the RAID with the WD 80GB SATA HD.
When the installation CD finished loading the required system files and "Starting the windows" in the blue screen, after than the system just hang there.  Anyone who met this problem before?  How to solve it?

The memory module that I am using now is Kingston PC3200 1GB DDR, I can't find the power supply details.
I just updated the newest BIOS to it and I don't configure the board to do any overclocking.
Just now I tried to configure any possible settings in the BIOS to make the system works, and I unplug the adapter for the mouse to use the USB port.
Guess what?  It worked...
I hope it will keep working in the future, otherwise I don't know what I can do...

  • Blank Black Screen installing Windows XP Pro SP2 Retail with Boot Camp

    Hi Support Forum -
I am using BootCamp Assistant (3.0.2) to install WindowsXP_SP2_ProRetail on my MacBook Pro 15inch
Mid2009 (10.6.4) plus all the latest updates.
I have no problems creating partitions ranging from 5GB to more than half my HDD of 500GB....but
nothing but one problem when I get to Step 3 of the BootCamp Installation & Setup Guide, page 7:
To install Windows on your Mac computer:
1 a... Open Boot Camp Assistant
    b... Select 'Start Windows installer'
    c... Click Continue
2..... Insert your Windows installation disc
3..... In Boot Camp Assistant, click Start Installation
Your computer starts up from the Windows installation disc
That's as far as I get! First a Gong sound then the gray screen appears and afterwards the screen turns BLACK. After a short while the optical drive starts up and is quite active with either searching
or scanning back and forth for about 5 minutes. Then all activity stops and finally the computer stops
2 minutes later. Interestingly the keyboard was never lit and none of the keys responded to my de-
pressions. I also noticed the aluminum case near the display pivot edge get quite warm probably due
to the black screen so I decided to press the power-off key.
I restarted the computer and held the option key depressed, selected the Macintosh HD icon and pro-
ceeded to the Logs (system.log & the windowserver.log) for any entries about the windows installer
and the optical drive operations....Nothing, nothing! Then I checked the BootCamp HD with Finder,
nothing, -> 0 items were loaded!
I feel at a loss what to do next??? I even ran Techtooldeluxe diagnostic utility from AppleCare, every-
    thing AOK!
Now I had Windows installed successfully when I first had bought my MBP 15 last year. Then I decided
to play around with Parallel Desktop 5, didn't like it and tried to return to Windows and ever since that
time I was not able to install Windows XP. I decided to reinstall OSX to Factory Conditions, did the
7-pass erase for secure delete, installed OSX again without any problems. But Windows still won't in-
stall, get that Blank Black Screen, no cursors!
Perhaps something slipped in with soft- or firmware upgrades for the Graphic/Display 'Nvidia GeForce
9400M that won't let windows installer function properly?
Just for kicks I reinstalled Parallel Desktop 5 and Win/XP installed without any problems.
The Apple Experts in CA couldn't help me either. Now I had hoped there might be a solution to this
    problem at this time?!
I like my MBP very much and I might convert to OSX and it's applications if I can't get an answer to my
problem. I still don't like to give up though and would like to pursue this problem with more diagnostic aids from Tech Support. I know there a lot of OPEN incidents on this particular problem!
If this really is a Windows Installer failure, why does it work with Parallel Desktop 5, there is no BOOT
    CAMP ASSISTANT!!!!
Hope I can get a solution soon from some brilliant expert out there!
    Thanks for your patience,
    Paul370

I know what are you talking about. It looks more like a video compatibility issue in Boot Camp like this one:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1454?viewlocale=en_US
I encountered something similar with a MacBook Pro and despite all searching, i couldn't find a solution. However i am not that expert you are searching for, just the average Mac user
*You may try another XP version, i was able to install a older XP home setup, and updated lately after installing :|*
I am interested myself in a solution from some brilliant expert out there! Keeping an eye on this thread.

  • Virtual PC 7.0.2 problem: can't install Windows XP Pro SP2 bootable

I am new to Virtual PC, and have just installed it on my PB 12" 1.0GHz machine running 10.4.7 w/ all security updates and 768 MB RAM, 30 GB free hard drive space. I have repaired and verified disk and disk permissions on my hard drive.
I loaded VPC 7.0.1 from the install disk.
I downloaded and installed the VPC 7.0.2 upgrade.
I am unable to install my stand-alone full version of Win XP Pro Service Pack 2. I have followed the instructions in the VPC literature and the Help for setting up a new Virtual Machine and attempting to install the OS.
Within VPC, I can boot a Virtual Machine, and it reads:
    "OS Not Found
Install an OS on this hard drive"
If I try to type anything, then it reads:
"Reboot and Select proper Boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device"
The literature says that this is the time to put in the CD with the OS on it. I do that, it grinds for approx 30 sec, and then spits it out without loading the disk. The Virtual PC Virtual Machine never sees the disk.
The literature says to to go the Virtual PC Drives Menu/Capture CD, but this is greyed out.
The MS Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 install disk is a Bootable CD ROM disk, and clearly is unreadable by my Mac.
    Any thoughts? Thanks!

Thanks for your possible fix, Harshboy. Unfortunately, my computer will not even read this disk. Before I open VPC, I insert the disk, it grinds for 30sec, and then spits the disk out.
I am beginning to think I may have a corrupted Win XP Pro install disk, or there is something I don't know about Windows install disks being read by Mac OSX.
I have tried the disk in a G4 Powerbook 15" 1.33Ghz 768 MB RAM machine, and it loads the disk, but the installer does NOT come up--it doesn't see that the disk is a system install disk, and it has a strange name of seemingly random letters. Most of the files are accessible, but SOME FILES ARE NOT, and when I try to copy those, it says they are unable to be read and thus unable to be copied. I have tried making a copy of all the readable files on the disk and copying them to an external firewire drive, and then trying to use that to install the system on my 12" G4 Powerbook, but it doesn't recognize any of the files as a system.
I have also burned a CD with the readable files from this disk, but VPC does not recognize the fact that there is a system on that disk, even when I try to open the "setup.exe" file manually, etc. When I do that, VPC opens/comes to the front, but still waits and asks for an OS to be installed.
The fact that the WinXP install disk does not come up as a system install disk on either PB makes me think that this disk is flawed. It's a stand-alone educational departmental license version (I am in education, it's legal), so I will attempt to take it back and have them verify whether or not it's a working disk.
Does anyone know any tricks about loading Windows install disks in Mac OSX? Is there anything I should know, and trick to make the drive read something it doesn't want to? (My 12" has a Superdrive).
    Thanks-- Jeremy

  • No wireless access with Windows XP Pro (SP2) on Macbook Pro

    Hello,
Just installed Windows XP Pro (SP2) on my new Macbook Pro using Bootcamp Beta. The installation has gone fine with the exception of wireless access to the internet through my Airport home network.
I've tried all the other configuraton wizards on XP...no joy.
The three other macs in the house (2 wireless, 1 ethernet) and one Windows laptop (wireless) are all fine and dandy.
Any suggestions on what to do?
    Thanks

    Right Click on My Computer
    Select Manage
    Click on Device Manager
Make sure that your Ethernet Adapters are working properly
If there is an red X or a yellow ! next to any ethernet adapter then try to reinstall the drivers.
(you can reinstall the drivers via the installation cd or double click on the hardware device under device manager. there should be a reinstall drivers button in there. point it to the CD that you burned from bootcamp)
(there will be a couple of devices that are not working properly.)

  • Satellite U300 & Windows XP Pro SP2

    Hi,
I've installed Windows XP Pro SP2 on U300, I've downloaded all drivers and utilities, everything works fine but I have one device in the Device Manager with Yellow Bang (!) and it's: "PCI Memory Controller".
Where can I get the driver fir it?
    Thanks,
    Moshe.

    Hi Neil,
After doing some research, I found the solution.
U300 contains "Intel Turbo Memory 1GB" (Robson) which use to accelerate
HDD I\O and battery saving, this is actually a hardware card on the PCIe bus.
The problem is that this feature is supported only under Windows Vista... and since
we're using Windows XP all we have to do is just to disable it in the hardware manager.
    Regards,
    Moshe.

  • Using colour profiles with Windows XP Pro SP2

    Hi,
Freshly-installed WIndows XP Pro SP2 on the Unibody MBP.
I note that in the advanced display settings there is a tab for colour management. It offers the opportunity to add a .icc or .icx (I think) colour profile. I copied across my .icc-prefixed colour profile from my Leopard install, added it, and Windows reports it as invalid.
Can anyone tell me how (or whether it's possible) to make a Leopard-created .icc profile work with XP Pro SP2? If it's not possible, can someone suggest some free software for XP Pro SP2 that I can use to achieve a similar result?
    Thanks.

Got the error message 3256 after downloaded latest itunes version 8.xx.
After days of reading logs and bullentin boards, uninstalling, hard resets, firewalls experiments, etc, I found solution for me. Following firmware upgrade to airport express solved. When you go to Apple download center and search for airport revisions only the MAc version pops up. However they do have this one for windows. Give it a try. Good luck.

  • Connect Wireless Mighty Mouse to windows xp pro sp2 on bootcamp

I recently installed windows xp pro sp2 on bootcamp i tried to hook up my Wireless Mighty Mouse and I got basically nowhere. I was able to get the computer to recognize it and i typed in the passkey "0000" and it knows that it is a bluetooth device and I changed the settings of the bluetooth to "always" be discoverable and still I have hit a dead end. I can still not seem to connect the wireless mouse in any way. What do I do???

I FUIGURED IT OUT!!! omg im so happy right now. For anyone who might be wondering I'll tell you how to make it work it you had the same problem. Once you establish the mouse a device, highlight it in the devices menu, then click properties, then services, and once it is done searching check the box for the driver and click apply and your mouse should work.

  • Java_es_05q1-windows-x86 install fails 1628: Failed to complete installation on windows xp pro sp2

    Hi All,
I'm trying to install Java ES 2005Q1 on my windows xp pro sp2 notebook, but it always breaks with this error message: 1628: Failed to complete installation
I realized that the SUNJavaES.log always ends at line 151 which is 131077 characters long.
    These are the last few characters of this line: ..." AD_MANUAL_ES_CONSOLE_HELP=D:\Sun\JES2005Q1\Server-Root\manua l\es\console\help\ AD_MANUAL_FR_ADMIN=D:\Sun\JES2005Q1\Server-Root\manual\fr\ad min\ AD_MANUAL_FR_ADMIN_HELP=D:\Sun\JES2005Q1\Serve "
I attached the last log file.
This line always breaks at the 131077th char independently of the content of it. I tried to skip some components of JES to see what will occur. The current content of this line obviously was different, but it has broken at the same point.
Thanks in advence for any help.

This could be due to a known issue with length of installation path
Can you try and install in a location with less than 8 characters ?
    eg: C:\JES05q1 or C:\Sun

  • Apple Mobile Device Support fails to install on Windows XP Pro SP2

I have a dualboot between my Vista and my XP, my itunes on Vista works great and can connect with my ipod touch (2.1) but on my XP the installation of AMDS fails. Tried completly re-installing all services, i searched the internet for possible solutions but it seems i'm the only one having problems with windows XP, all the other similar problems are on Vista.
I know it's AMDS that fails because i unpacked the .exe file and ran all the installers one by one, they all work except AMDS (i get a rollback feature). I downloaded it with 3 different browsers from the official apple site and to eliminate that it's my hard drive that gives errors i also did a CHKDSK.
Also, it's not my ipod either, it can connect to my Vista and other computers with windows XP.
All the latest drivers are installed and during the installation no CD/USB was inserted except my mouse, i even tried it with the CD tray open (sometimes helps). Safe mode also doesn't work
I have no idea what's wrong. Could anyone help me out?

    Hi,
good news: You're not the only one with this problem. Bad news: I don't have a solution either. To restrict possible answers here is what I did so far:
    - computer was set up brand new with Windows XP Pro SP2
    - iTunes installed, AMDS didn't, everything deleted after this, nothing (no iTunes, no Quicktime, no Apple updater) left on computer
    - disconnected laptop from network, switched off firewall, switched off virus scan
    - ran install package for AMDS only, as Johan described, install won't finish, files are first copied then everything gets rolled back (and no log found). This means the service is not existing, so the problem is NOT solved by going into services and switch it on ...
    ANYONE PLEEEASE?
    Cheers & thanks

  • Windows XP Pro SP2 cd-rom after downgrading from Vista

    Hi everybody.
I successfully downgraded my T61p from Vista to XP Pro SP2 using the downgrade cd-roms send by Lenovo.
Everything seems to work well. I downloaded all drivers. No problem.
But I recently installed a rather old software that I frequently used on my old A31p. This software (a Microsoft program !) has automatically modified some files from XP Pro without any autorization.
Once it was done, I was asked by the system to insert the original Windows XP Pro SP2 cd-rom to repair this modification.
Of course, the (Vista to XP) downgrade cd-rom set was not recognized by the Thinkpad as the original XP set.
    An original cd-rom which I finally don't have !
I tried with an original XP Pro SP2 cd-rom bought a few years ago for my A31p. Unsuccessful.
Where could I find the XP Pro SP2 cd-rom corresponding to the downgraded system ?
Thanks for your help and suggestions.
    Regards.

    Thinkpad A31p - T42p - T61p - TP Tablet

    James,
    thanks for your answer.
But I wrote on my first post "I tried with an original XP Pro SP2 cd-rom bought a few years ago for my A31p. Unsuccessful."
Thus, I don't see any difference between an original Microsoft Windows XP2 Pro SP2 version cd-rom and one created by burning a downloaded version of the OS. An original was not recognized, what would a copy do ?
If possible, it might be probably better to create an XP Pro SP2 cd-rom from the "Rescue and Recovery" files which were reinstalled when downgrading from Vista to XP. (I hate the word "downgrade" : while I was doing it, I had the feeling I was upgrading my Thinkpad !)
I have been using for several years (and still use) an A31p (Since 2002, 8 to 10 hours a day) and a T42p. IMHO, the T61p is the same category of "great" notebooks. Thinkpads are really the best notebooks I have ever used. I noted no significant difference between IBM and Lenovo Thinkpads.

  • 10gR2 on Windows XP Pro SP2

Can anybody help: I just installed Oracle 10g Release 2 on Windows XP Pro SP2 and receive the following message when starting the Enterprise Manager: DBD Error: OCIServer Attach. Via SQLPlus I can work and the Instance is running.

    Hi Fred
Can you provide any more details on the error. Maybe a screen dump of when you run emctl start or emctl status?

  • Only seeing 2 GB memory (Windows XP Pro SP2, 32 bit)

I have 4 GB installed on my Mac Pro (early 2008). It's running Windows XP Pro SP2, 32 bit). The System Information says I only have 1.99 GB of RAM.
I understand that 32-bit Windows can only see up to 3 GB of RAM. But I'm only seeing 2 GB. (For example, I have a MacBook Pro running 32-bit XP and it sees 3 GB).
In Mac OS X, I see all 4 GB, so the RAM is probably seated properly and fully functional.
Any help? I saw another thread about the same problem, but that was Vista.
    thanks
Edit: I CORRECT MYSELF -- This computer has been updated to Service Pack 3.

    Hello Hatter,
    Long time no chat
Do you have any info. on how Windows 7 will behave in the Mac Pro scenario?
My MacPro has 12 GB RAM crammed into it, I'm running XP-Pro 32 bt SP3 - and I too see only 1.99GB RAM in my XP environment. I have no troubles at all seeing all 12GBs in Leopard 10.5.6. I gave up on VMware Fusion after realizing it completely ignored my QuadroFX4500 graphics card.
Now I'm running in pure BootCamp for any/all of my XP needs - which is only to run SolidWorks on my Mac. (SW's tech supp doesn't like me very much - I think they've flagged my account as "one of those Mac freaks" - I digress...)
I'm hopeful Windows7 64bit will be fine and thus will allow SW to see more of the RAM my beast contains within.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts you care to share.
    Peace,
