Installing with XP SP3 disc

I have a late model 2008 iMac that came with 10.5.5. Out of the box it came with Boot Camp 2.0. I have updated the machine to 10.5.7, ran software update, which doesn't tell me there is an update waiting for Boot Camp to 2.1.
Now Boot Camp 2.1 came out in April 2008 and I now have a Windows XP SP3 disc and it won't install Windows - saying "The installer disc could not be found" - because I don't have 2.1. If I go and download the Boot Camp 2.1 update (from here http://support.apple.com/downloads/BootCamp___Windows_XP_Drivers_Update_21) it is an windows executable that is useless to me and obviously run only in Windows.
Where is the Mac OS X Boot Camp 2.1 update for my machine so that I can install using my Windows XP SP3? Please.

No it doesn't. My iMac won't even read the Windows XP CD at any moment. Not while booting and it doesn't mount it as any CD while running Mac OS X.
The CD must me in an incompatible format for my iMac. The CD can be read on Windows Machine without any problem. The cd format is CDFS which is an alternate name for ISO9660.
I finally bought this Genuine OEM Windows XP CD for nothing and because it's unsealed now I can't resell it.

Ovi suite 2.2.1.23 will not install with Xp/SP3, o...

I got a new N8 on 24 Oct 2010 - lovely phone. I downloaded latest Ovi 2.2.1.23 and tried to install it in XP Pro /SP3 PC which has all the latest fixes, and also PC suite installed. . Installation completely failed, and uninstall also failed . Now left with system telling me that it cannot uninstall older version of Ovi.
Tried again on another XP/SP3 PC which had never had any Nokia s/w on it. Install went OK but Ovi crashed immediately I tried to sync calendar or contacts on N8 with Outlook 2003, and keeps crashing despite several install & uninstalls.
Nokia tech support tell me that
1) PC Suite does NOT need to be uninstalled before installing Ovi.
2) N8 & Outlook 2003 ARE (or should be) supported by Ovi 2.3.1.23
3) They do not have a solution to this problem!!!!! Only recommendation is to revert to XP/SP2 but I won't do this because Microsoft no longer supports SP2.
My solution: sadly to return phone to O2, and choose one from a different manufacturer.

sorry -meant to add that PC suite works well with XP/SP3 & older phones such as 6630 6230 6300 but it does not support N8, so I can't use that option.

New HD and can't clean install with SL upgrade disc

I am really stuck here...
My '07 white MacBook HD died last week. It originally came with Tiger, I bought Leopard when it came out, and also bought the Snow Leopard upgrade disc.
When I got the MacBook back today, I thought I'd try a clean install of SL - but it wouldn't install, telling me I needed 10.5 or later in order to install SL. So I then tried installing Leopard, but the disc verification failed multiple times (it only has minor scratches on it!).
I then tried the Leopard install disc that came with my '09 MacBook Pro - but of course it must check the hardware, as it said it could not be installed on the MacBook.
So I then installed Tiger from the original MacBook discs, thinking I could upgrade Tiger to SL (had seen mention of this) - but again, I got the message stating I needed 10.5 or later.
I've seen a YouTube video of someone doing a clean install of SL - but the person had a new Unibody Macbook - and I think the SL must do a hardware check and if it's an older MacBook that wouldn't have originally come with Leopard installed, it doesn't let you do a clean install of SL.
Very frustrating I can't get SL installed on a new HD, even though I do own Leopard!

actually you should be able to install SL over a Tiger install. i posted here recently with my (positive) experiences and here's an excerpt:
+1. Used the install disks that came with my MBP to put a fresh Tiger on an external FW drive. Updated install to 10.4.11 and installed SL over that. Started to install 3rd party SW one by one – NO ISSUES+
+2. Did a fresh install of SL on an external FW drive and migrated settings, programs, etc. from my MBP – NO ISSUES+
+3. Then I took the plunge and just “upgraded” my 10.5.8 on the internal drive using the SL install disk – NO ISSUES+
+I want to point out that during all 3 installs above I had 2 external FW disks and 1 external FW optical drive (used that for the SL disk) connected to my MBP !+
+Obviously, I took the “usual” precautions (make a bootable clone plus regular TM backup) before I upgraded my internal drive.+
maybe i am lucky that i have 2 external FW drives to juggle with. but if you have one (or get one) this ought to work.

How can i re-install with my system discs withou a working cd dvd

I had to wipe my hard drive and I thought i could re-install my system with the original discs, but my superdrive isnt working. I have the original CDs, I have my new macbook pro attached by firewire and I have a usb external drive with a time machine backup for the older laptop on it. The dvd installer wont let me select anpother disc, and the system on it doesnt seem to be recognized by the new laptop. help?!?

Retail Leopard disc looks like this;
(The disc itself has the same logo). If the one you've got is grey it simply won't work.
Given the retail and second hand prices of Leopard (usually some on Amazon MP), you'll probably find it cheaper to go directly to Snow Leopard, although there could be software updates and printer driver problems that could nullify the difference.

Problems with OWA after installing Exchange 2010 SP3

I just installed Exchange 2010 SP3 on a SBS 2011 machine. The installation completed successfully, but after the installation OWA isn't working anymore. When I browse to OWA I get the following message:

When you reset a virtual directory, the virtual directory is removed and a new virtual directory with default settings is created.
After you reset the VD, did you restart IIS?

SP3 not installing with Snow Leopard

I've been trying to reinstall Windows XP partitioned on my new mac along with Snow Leopard. The Service Pack 3 will not install with the XP and many errors pop up. I do have SP2 installed and windows is running fine except when trying to update the software to SP3.
On 10.5, I could install the SP3, but had to add a bit of code as per this url: http://www.windowsreference.com/general/error-there-is-not-enough-disk-space-whe n-installing-sp3/
Any thoughts or solutions, please?

Insert your Snow Leopard disc and restart, press and hold the C key as soon as you hearthe startup chime, hold C until you see the Apple Logo. When your computer starts up you'll be at the first install screen, choose your language and click the arrow to go to the next screen. This screen has a menu bar, from the Utilities menu select Disk Utility, select your hard drive, this is the one with the manufacturers name or numbers, click the partition tab and then delete any existing partitions by selecting them and clicking the minus. In the drop down box select one partition and click apply. Name your hard drive and click erase. When it's done quit DU and go back to the installer, install Snow Leopard. When the installer is done and the computer is back up and running run Software Update to get to 10.6.8

Even if there was a convenient way, the software will not run on the pad. Ios is a unique language, and only programs written for ios will run on the pad. All of the programs are in the app store. You might look there and see if the company that makes your sfotware also has an ios version, which would be in the store.

27" iMac, ATI 5750, Bootcamp3.2 and the occasional black screen with XP SP3

Wanted to share my experience with the subject setup and potentially save somebody a lot of time and frustration. My installation would occasionally work. Sometimes it would boot into a black screen and sometimes it would work perfectly. I tried a lot things:
1. Deleting the bootcamp partition and clean install.
2. Renaming AppleHFS.sys, etc to *.old.
3. Downloading and installing some mobility graphic drivers from downloadatoz.com.
4. Downloading and installing the desktop graphic drivers from amd.
5. Using 7zip to unzip the bootcamp3.2.exe file and manually extracting and installing the graphic drivers.
6. Following the directions from Apple support article TS3173.
Everytime I thought it was fixed, the black screen would appear again. One of the comments I read on the forums really struck a chord with me. "XP is getting long in the tooth." So, I ditched my XP SP3 disc and bought an OEM, 64-bit disc of Win7 Professional. So far, this has worked perfectly with absolutely NO black screens (even during installation) on my 27" iMac with the ATI 5750 graphics card.

So, a little update on the situation...
I tried repairing the WinXP installation from the install CD and it did not solve the problem.
Right now I'm trying to completely reinstall Windows XP (SP2 this time) and the Apple drivers to see where the problems start to appear (at WinXP SP2 install, at the SP3 install, at BootCamp 2.1 install,...)
Also, something quite important I forgot to mention in my first post is that the problem appeared after cloning the BootCamp partition from another Mac (iMac 20" Alum) using Mike Bombich's NetRestore tool.
If you have any suggestions, I would really appreciate it!

The only way it will restart is to pull the mains lead out of the imac, put it back and try until it will start.
This only happened after reinstalling. Only Apple OS was on the imac and so it must be an issue with the software I believe.....
Anyone know how to cure this problem please?

This isn't a fix, more a workaround I used when I had wake from sleep problems that lasted from some point in 10.6.x, through 10.7 and into 10.8 (got fixed for me in 10.8.2). It seems to be connected with Bluetooth failing to wake up properly:
System Preferences>Energy Saver and set 'computer sleep' to 'never'.

Additional information:
-also ran "Repair" with new download of iTunes
-am using the same spindle of CDs that worked perfectly a month ago. Tried another brand also to be safe. None worked.
-ran CD/DVD diagnostics within iTunes with Apple Care - no issues apparent
-also tried write-speed 20X on advice of Apple Care (don't know why they thought 20X would be the magic number after the other 3 I tried didn't work)
-tried running itunes in another user account on the computer - same problem, same error code
-Apple suggested it was a copyright issue. I can't even burn music that I created/recorded myself, so that doesn't make sense.
-They thought maybe Quicktime wasn't installed properly, so we checked a film in Windows Media - it played, meaning Quicktime was fine apparently.
Solution:
Unclicked CD text option & Sound Check, ran burn from the File drop down menu (max speed) on a Philips CD-R and it worked! Had been right clicking the playlist name and selecting Burn option from there. That being said, it did not work on 2 other brands prior, with same settings. Not sure why. Just happy it's working again. Is it a brand issue?

The primary difference between a Boot Camp installation and a Parallels installation is that in the Boot Camp installation, you're installing Windows into a separate partition on your internal mass storage device (hard drive or SSD) and then rebooting your Mac directly into Windows.
In Parallels, you're always running OS X on the Mac and Parallels is running a Windows virtual machine.
Not to get too technical here, but it is also possible for Parallels to run an installed Windows Boot Camp partition as a virtual machine. If you're evaluating system performance with a trial copy, that might be the way to go, because you only have to install Windows once on Boot Camp as a dual-boot system, then install Parallels Desktop and run the Boot Camp partition as the virtual machine.
There is a performance difference between the two, with the Boot Camp Windows installation being faster, but without the convenience of running both Mac and Windows applications simultaneously offered by Parallels. Sometimes that convenience outweighs a performance hit.
I can't give you more Mavericks and Parallels 9 specifics, because I'm currently running Windows 7 with Parallels 7 on OS X 10.8.5. Parallels 7 will not run on OS X 10.9 Mavericks.
I've been using Parallels (to run a few old rarely-used WIndows applications with features that would require a steep learning curve and major expense to purchase and learn a similar Mac app) occasionally since Parallels 3 and Windows XP. With each new release of OS X, each new release of Parallels, and each new Windows release, there are ALWAYS 'early adopter' bugs that get worked out over time.

I think I need to re install Encore off my discs. When I ask Premier Pro CS5 to send my project to Encore, Encore opens but does not receive my movie sequence. How do I re install Encore only without upsetting my movie?

Hello. I have the Premier Pro CS5 suite on Windows. Can you advise me how to re install Encore off my discs without affecting any of my movie in Premier Pro please?
I ask Pro to send the movie sequence through Dynamic Link into Encore so that I can burn the sequence to a disc.
Encore does open but the sequence does not arrive from Pro.
Last night the sequence did arrive into Encore but took forever to transcribe and I eventually cancelled the process as it appeared to get stuck and did not quite get to writing to disc.
This morning the sequence does not even arrive into Encore.
Very frustrating when I have a 4hr movie that I want to write to Bluray so I have now created 4 separate sequences and want to try writing them onto DVD in 1hr chapters.

Hello Ann. Thank you for your help. I have re installed EN and I have now
sent parts of my movie to AME. I have then tried several different methods
of getting the encoded clips into Encore successfully. Once in the Project
panel and the Timeline, the movie does not show up in the Monitor panel
above, so I have proceeded to build and write to a disc. I've tried a
number of options but always end up with EN 'not responding' and having to
close the program down.
Something else is that I do get a message whilst in Premiere Pro that there
is an update available for AME, however, when I look online I do not see an
update for CS5, although there are 2 updates for CS6. Can you suggest what
I could do please? The Encore problem is the one that concerns me the most
as I am not able to record my movie.
