Installing WLS 6.0 on HP-UX

Hi,
Is there a way to install Weblogic Server 6.0 on HP-UX 10.20 (which patches should
I use ?), or must I really upgrade the OS to 11 ?
Thanks.
Benjamin

It's only supported on 11.

  • How to install WLS 10.3.3 and OPFRD 11.1.1.2 + patch 11.1.1.3

I have Windows 2003 SP2 server which meets Oracle requirements. Can anybody explain me step by step how do to that? I have tried, but failed. I couldn't configure domain. On clean OS i have installed WLS withotu configure. Than I installed OPFRD 11.1.1.2. After that I installed patch 11.1.1.3. Everything passed OK w/o problems. Than I strated config.bat. I fill in the details and configuration begins. But stops on first step, when domain should be configured. How to solve the problem?
    Thx in advance.

Thanks Rene, but as I said we are not using the same version of WLS and OSB so in that case is there any option that which version of OEPE i should download which support these two versions of WLS 10.3.5 and OSB 11.1.1.4.0.

Has anyone installed WLS on an intel-pentium pc running Solaris ? Although
it appears that it is a supported combination, I did see a note that said
"it was in the radar". Is there an official line on this ?

    It is not supported.

Yepp, we tried that as a test setup. Works, but I think we did not have
    native IO running.

  • After installing WLS, oracle cannot access directory

We have installed WLS many times on RHEL 5.6 and cannot determine why, but on occasionthe oracle user loses the ability to access /opt directory. The directory structure is listed as only question marks.
    [oracle@racparticipant opt]$ ll
    total 36
    ?--------- ? ? ? ? ? IrsamInstall
    drwxr-xr-x 12 root root 4096 Jan 5 13:14 likewise
    drwx------ 2 root root 16384 Jan 5 12:46 lost+found
    ?--------- ? ? ? ? ? oracle
    ?--------- ? ? ? ? ? oraInventory
    ?--------- ? ? ? ? ? sun
    drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 4096 Jan 5 13:12 Symantec
Once this occurs, the oracle user cannot access this directory or its subdirectories. If I login as root, everything is fine.
We have not found anything online regarding this or anything useful...
    Ideas?

Form the "id" output showing "context=user_u:system_r:unconfined_t:SystemHigh" I can see you have SELinux enabled.
Unfortunately I'm not very familiar with SELinux. The Oracle recommendation is usually to have it disabled, not supported, at least prior to 11gR2. You may have to modify the security context of the /opt directory using the chcon command to allow access (http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/SELinux). Firewall and SELinux are enabled by default and more changes are most likely required for Weblogic to work.
What happens if you disable SELinux or set it to permissive and try again? You can disable SELinux by editing /etc/selinux/config and change the SELINUX line to SELINUX=disabled. Then reboot the system and try again. Alternatively you can also use the kernel "enforcing=0" parameter or use "echo 0 >/selinux/enforce" to temporarily disable enforcement, but I guess disabling it in /etc/selinux/config is easier.

  • The valid OS user to install WLS 10.3 on linux

    Hi,
Could you please let me know the appropriate OS user to use when installing WLS 10.3
I have joined new employer and find the instakklation done using Root user, we tried to create another and change the permissions however I guess this is not good solution and might many issues to throw up later on.
    Cheers,

    Hi
DO NOT install the weblogic server with the root user. This is not recommended and may run into many issues.
Simply create a new user in that Linux OS with any name like standard names are weblogic or fmw like that with some password. Then login with this user account and download and install the weblogic server software. This should work perfectly fine. This is what we do most of the times in Unix OS. Never install with root user.

  • Can't install WLS 6.1 on Solaris 8

    Hi,
Trying to install 6.1 on Solaris 8, using latest Java 1.3 from Sun.
Doing it remotely, so using the console install and after I spec the
    directories and configuration, I get:
    ============================================================================
    ===
    Create System Password
    Exception in thread "main"
I still need to check if I have all the OS patches, but when I run it on
Linux, the above step seems to be idenfitying the OS (Sun or Solaris in this
case). Don't know why that would die - this exception doesn't print a stack
    trace or anything.
    Steve

    Steve,
Can you paste the entire exception here?
Are you running the weblogic610_sol.bin file ?

(FYI WLS 6.1 is certified on SunSoft SDK 1.3.1)

  • Dump produced after install WLS 8.1 SP3

    Hi there,
I am sending you the DUMP file generated a lot of times after we had just installed the SP 3. I am not sending the MDUMP file because its size is larger then 180Mb. The same code that generated this error worked fine when we were using the SP 2. It has never occured a DUMP while we were using the SP 2.
         My server configuration:

The dump is caused by a stackoverflow condition. For some reason JRockit is not able to throw the StackOverFlowError (this can be really tricky in a JVM when there is no stack left).
The cause seems to be that weblogic/jdbc/base/BaseSQLParser.parseUnknownStatementComponents calls itself recursively quite a few times. I don't anything about that code so I couldn't tell you why there are are so many recursive calls. Maybe there is something in your SQL statement that causes the driver to do this?
The reason this happens after the SP3 installation can be a couple of things: 1) code in the driver has changed 2) code in WLS has changed 3) changes in JRockit may cause the stackoverflow to happen in a "bad" place which we cannot handle.
You can try increasing the stack size with the -Xss parameter. I think the default is 64kB, so try the double or more.
Maybe you should contact support for the db driver and ask them why the recursive calls happen.

  • Version compatibility for installing WLS and ADR for ADF 11.1.2.0

    Hi,
Can anyone pls let me know what versions of Weblogic server, Application Development Runtime (ADR) is required to install Oracle JDeveloper 11.1.2.0
B'coz currently I am trying to install Weblogic server, ADR and ADF separately and try to deploy and publish an application in ADF 11.1.2.0 verison.
I am trying this for the past 4 days, but still can't deploy an application successfully in ADF 11.1.2.0 version. Pls let me know the version compatibility.
    Thanks,
    Aparna

    Hi John,
Even I saw the link that u had mentioned. From where can I install these ?
I had downloaded WLS 10.3.5 and ADR 11.1.1.5 separately. But from where do I install the patch ?? I didn't find a proper source to download.

  • Has anyone been able to install WLS 6.x on a Win 2K machine with Java?

I'm having a nightmare of a time getting WLS to install. 5.1 runs and installs
    with no problem.
Isn't there a 'noinstall' option like the previous product versions?
    I'm running win 2000 sp1 (pre 2) I've tried removing ALL my jdk's, but when I
try to install, I get a flicker of the installation window, then nothing.

    Try this:
    From the DOS prompt:
set PATH=c:\jdk1.2.2\bin;%PATH% (can use other 1.2 or 1.3 JVM)
    set CLASSPATH=
    weblogic600_win
    Hope this helps,
    Robert

  • Installing WLS from the CD ( free CD with Bea book)

HI, I have not been able to install the wls from the cd I recd with the bok J2EE
    application and BEA Weblogic.
    /// MORE THAN THANKS ///

    David,
I suspect that you are going to have a lot of problems related to the new book,
because the procedure I found on the BEA website did not work with the software
    on the CD-ROM.
What did work was fairly simple:
    1) Set up the PATH and CLASSPATH environment variables to point toward an existing
instance of jdk1.3 BEFORE installing WLServer6.0, so it can find the jdk.
    2) Install wlserver6.0 from the CD,
    3) Download the license.bea file from the BEA website.
    4) Copy the downloaded file into the c:\bea over the 'license_new.bea' file in
    that directory. The 6.0 server
seemed (in my experience) to be completely disregarding everything I did to 'license.bea',
which made the instructions on the website useless to me.
    David Felts <[email protected]> wrote:
UpdateLicense.cmd should be run from your BEA Home. Make sure you have

    license.bea file
(make sure you have a license.bea file in your BEA Home before you run
    this command so
the <new_license_file> can update the existing license.bea. The license.bea
    file is
    used by the server.

some specific level of WIndows permission which I don't have by default. If the

What was the problem you found? Did you get the license from the

    Thanks,
Michael GirdleyHi, Mike. I'm having the same problem so I will pick this discussion
    up.
I downloaded the 'license.bea' file and copied it into the base
    directory
    which
the instructions in the 'J2EE Applications and BEA WebLogic Server'book
    said
    to use, namely 'c:\wlserver6.0'.
Starting the Weblogic server did not work, so I went looking further.
    I found
instructions to 'update' the license at:
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61/install/instlic.html#1036112
and renamed the 'license.bea' file to 'license.foo', then ran the
following commands as specified (I think this is what the instructions
    meant to
    do):
    C:\wlserver6.0> set PATH=.;c:\JBuilder4\jdk1.3;%PATH%
    C:\wlserver6.0> UpdateLicense license.foo
    The error message was:
'UpdateLicense' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable
    program, or batch file.
The problem may be in the PATH, as the actual instructions for amending
    the PATH
    were:
    "set PATH=.\jdk1.3;%PATH%"
Unfortunately this would have pointed my path into a nonexistant
    instance
    of jdk1.3
located in the Weblogic6.0 directory, so I tried to be intelligentand
    point it
to the actual instance of jdk1.3.
It seems to me that this either wasn't tested as a 'bare-box' installation
    or
that the documentation was not written with the benefit of such
    an
    installation.
What is UpdateLicense and where is it located? Every day counts
    when
    you are on
    a 30-day evaluation period!.........

  • Application Developement Runtime-Install (WLS 10.3 on SuseLinux ES 10.4)

    Hello,
my target is to deploy our FMW Applications in a production environment on an Standalone WebLogic Server 11g (10.3.3) on SuseLinux Enterprise Edition 10 Patch 4 (64 bit) under VM Ware using SSO against Active Directory in Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. Our applications are already running without problems using SSO against the same Active Directories on the same WLS Server Version BUT on a Windows Server 2003 R2 Sp2 System for testing purposes.
On the SuseLinux ES 10.4 (64 bit) following generic installations have been done with Sun JDK 1.6.0_u25:
    (1) WebLogic 10.3.3 (java -d64 wls1033_generic.jar) -> successfully.
    (2) Application Development Runtime-Libraries (ofm_appdev_generic_11.1.1.2.0_disk1_1of1.jar followed by ofm_appdev_generic_11.1.1.3.0_disk1_1of1): succeeded
BUT FAILURE on all prerequisite checks (Operating system certification, Recommended operation system packages, Kernel parameters, Recomended glibc version, Physical memory). I couldn't find any information about this till now.
So, here are my first questions to (1) and (2):
-> Are there any known problems and issues with WebLogic Server/APPDEV-Runtime Installations under SuseLinux ES 10.4 or others?
-> Has anybody else tried the Installation of Oracle Fusion Middleware APPDEV-Runtime on WLS 10.3.3 under SuseLinux Enterprise Server 10 Patch 4 (64 bit) and knows something about this failures?
    (3) I ignored the failure of the prerequisite checks of the OFM_APPDEV (the installations seem to be completed successfully) and went on with Domain- and SSO-Configuration (Production-Mode) and the Deployment of the FMW applications in the required SuseLinux Environment. The Deployment was successfull and we are able to run the applications by using FORM-BASED Authentication against the Active Directory, but we have now problems with SSO with Kerberos 5. I was able to configure the Active Directory Provider and the Identity Assertion Provider (for SPNEGO) in the Console/Myrealm and I configured the Domain for KRB5-JAAS-Configuration as I did it in the Test-Windows-Environment. It seems, that my krb5.conf is not picked up or read properly or the keytab-File isn't correct (ktpass, ktutil, kinit, klist,... was used and it looks ok, enctype is RC4-HMAC as it is for the wls-user-account in AD) or... For checking the keytab-File I used the utilities provided by the PowerBroker-Installation used by the customer to join the Linux-Machine to the Active Directory Domain.
I reviewed all points in the SSO-support-pattern on Oracle Support: WebLogic Server Support Pattern: Kerberos and SPNEGO Configuration Issues [ID 1332241.1].
I can't figure out, what the problem is. I can't see any mistake in the configuration.
    I'm asking now:
-> What's missing in the installation of the Standalone WLS Server/Application Development on SLES 10.4 what makes us fail with the SSO-Configuration?
-> Is there a workaround for the failures in the installations above?
-> Are there known bugs or issues concerning the krb5-configurations on SuseLinux ES 10.4?
-> Can the installation of PowerBroker/Likewise which is used by the customer cause the problem?
-> Can there be a problem with the used JDK (Sun JDK 1.6.0_u25 installed by our customer) concerning to com.sun.security.auth.module.Krb5LoginModule which is required for JAAS-Configuration?
Any ideas and answers are welcome!
    Thank you in advance, Anita

    Hello Justin,
    thank you for your reply!
I followed your Link and checked the certification matrix for SLES 10(SP4), the version of the OS we use.
Oracle WebLogic Server Version 11gR1 (10.3.1+) is certified for:
    OS Version: SLES 10 (SP4+)
    OS 32/64 bit: 64
    Oracle FM 32/64 bit: 64
    JDK 32/64 bit: 64
Oracle Database: Oracle 10.2.0.4+, Oracle 11.1.0.7+, Oracle 11.2.0.1+
The only doubt I have, is the Installation of the "Application Developement Runtime Libraries":
    (1) ofm_appdev_generic_11.1.1.2.0_disk1_1of1.jar
    (2) ofm_appdev_generic_11.1.1.3.0_disk1_1of1.jar
    -> http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/downloads/fmw-11-download-092893.html.
I supposed they fit the 64bit requirenment as well? Aren't they?

    Anita

The installer is different in 7.0. Try,

Yes, I have the weblogic.policy file, but the problem is still reproducible.
Probably the same situation is also with Pentium 4, about symcjit.dll.
    Exists a workaround?
    Thanks, Ettore.
