Installing Workflow Notification with Gmail as email server...IMAP4

I'm trying to install notification for Workflow and instructions say to use an IMAP4 type of mail server connection, not just IMAP. This is all through the Oracle Application Manager web interface.
We use a special type of Gmail hosting for our company email and I've tried all kinds of combinations of server naming but the Workflow Notification service never succeeds in connecting and then the server never starts up.
Has anyone succeeded in using Gmail for an IMAP4 type incoming email system?
I do have an option to use MS Exchange and may try that if easier...any problems with setting up MS Exchange with Workflow Notification?

What is the error you are getting? Did you try to run "Workflow Java Mailer Setup Test" and see if it reports any errors?

I do have an option to use MS Exchange and may try that if easier...any problems with setting up MS Exchange with Workflow Notification?We have MS Exchange configured with no issues.

Can't get Email client to work with Network Solutions Email server

This is a new Email account started after I installed Snow Leopard. The Email server is Network Solutions. I have tried all afternoon and evening trying to set up just one account / mailbox on the Mac and I still haven't gotten it to work. I have been over the settings multiple times with Network Solutions and they tell me all the settings are correct, but still no joy. When I try to 'Get Mail' it simply spins its wheels for a minute or so then displays a (!); i.e. it times out and stops trying. I don't know if it is something about Network Solution's servers that is causing the problem or if it something wrong on my end (most likely). Any idea what I can try? Is there a log someplace that will tell me exactly what part of the process is failing?

Problem solved. For some reason the POP client had 'SSL' turned on. Guess I set it by accident during one of my many tries. All is well now.

The notification with the ID of 43533 experienced problems when attempting to dispatch an email notification to the role ~WF_ADHOC-62. Subsequently the notification preference for the following users has been set to DISABLED. Please correct the issue and re-enable their notification preference.
so now i have to find out the log file for this notification error.I can get it under $APPLCSF/$APPLLOG directory starting with FNDCPGSC<process_id>.txt. But i dont know how to find out the process id.Can someone please assist me.

Will the iphone work with a blackberry email server

I am about to start a new job. I was told they have a blackberry email server. Will I beable to recieve and create email using my work email address?

How do flagged emails in iOS Mail app sync with Gmail Starred emails?

Hi,
I'm trying to figure out how the "Flagged" mailbox on iOS mail interacts with Gmail's "starred" messages. It seems that messages that I star on Gmail and then archive do not show up in the Flagged mailbox on iOS, and that only starred messages that are still in my inbox show up. Is that correct? DOes anyone know a workaround to get starred and archived messages to show up?

Thanks for your reply, but the Gmail app is not the solution. I have three different accounts, and I want to have just one folder where all my flagged/starred emails are collated. I don't want to be jumping between different accounts.

Lumia with Gmail messes email when responding to a...

I faced a problem with Gmail with my Lumia 800 phone. I got an email with Scandinavian characters a and o with double dots. I opened the email message I received on my phone and responded, the whole respond message went messy. All a´s and o´s with dots were replaced by funny multicharacter codings. Impossible to read
I did some tests with emai subject field. With a subject field of 65 characters or less the reply was correct and the coding did not change. If I added only one character more to the email subject field my replied message went a mess.
Sound pretty much like a bug!

I think I have a similar problem with Chinese characters. I tried to "Reply to all" to an email that has a Chinese subject title which was sent to a lot of my friends. But my email sent turned out to be a bunch of random codes, something what i attach below. The codes are not completely garbled, it looks more like some decoding problem. I tried both Chinese replies and English replies but i can't get any of them display properly. Can anyone help or at least tell me who I need to contact to try to solve the problem

Sending Workflow notification with OAF page link through PL/SQL

Hi Workflow Experts
I have a requirement where I want to send a FYI notification to a user.
And I have to add a link to my OAF screen in this workflow notification.
Please let me know if i have to create a workflow for this or can this be done by calling some workflow api.

Try by defining the message attribute holding the link to the framework region. Then, once the notification has been created (sent) call WF_NOTIFICATIONS.SetAttrText to set the value of the region in that attribute value.

Mail / Login in with Gmail/ received email ok but when problem sending.

I log into my mail using gmail, and was receiving email ok. I tried to send an email to my other gmail account, but it showed up in the spam ?? What's going on?

I guess you could try but I don't believe Apple can help with activation lock issues. They may, however, be able to determine if the Apple ID belongs to one of you and reset the password for you if you can prove your identity.
You might want to try calling Apple by going to https://expresslane.apple.com; click 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID'. In the next page select 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password'. Perhaps they can help determine if it's your ID and reset the password for you (and they probably have more expertise in doing this than the Apple store).

Workflow notification with link and Form open functionality issue

In GLBATCH workflow, Request Approval from Approver message we need a new link 'View Journal' avaliable. Once user click on it GLXJEENT form should be opened with GLXIQJRN function (with query only mode, that mean no New Jouranl or batch option)
We could able to do this. Created a attribute of form type and assigned below vlaues with defulat as constant
GLXIQJRN:AUTOQUERY_LEVEL=BATCH AUTOQUERY_COORDINATION=INITIAL AUTOQUERY_CRITERIA=&BATCH_ID
The problem here is, it is not auto populating the batch name in that query form
I tried lot of ways, but no use.
Can anyone please help me in this. We need auto population of batch name in the Batch Name field.

Collage Students need help with Java project(Email Server) whats analysis?

Hi im studying in collage at the moment and i have just started learning java this semester, the thing is my teacher just told us to do an project in java , since we just started the course and i dont have any prior knowledge about java i was wondering if some one could help me with the project.
i choose Email Sevice as my project and we have to submit an analysis and design document , but how the hell am i suppose to know what analysis is ? i just know we use ER diagrams & DFD's in the design phase but i dont know what analysis means ?
could some one tell me what analysis on an email service might be? and what analysis on a subject means? is it the codeing involved or some thing coz the teacher told us not to do any codeing yet so im completly stumped,
oh and btw we are a group of 3 students who are asking u the help here coz all of us in our class are stupmed ?

ANALYSIS
Analysis means figuring out what the problem is, maybe what kinds of solutions might be appropriate
1.     Introduction:-
The very definition of analysis is an investigation of the component parts of a whole and their relations in making up the whole. The Analysis done here is for an emailing service called Flashmail, the emailing service is used to send out mails to users registered with our service, these users and there log activities will be stored in some where, the most desirable option at this time is a Database, but this can change as the scope of the project changes.
2.     Customer Analysis:-
We are targeting only 30 registered users at the moment but this is subject to change as the scale changes of the project .Each user is going to be entitled to 1MB of storage space at this time since we lack the desired infrastructure to maintain anything higher than 1MB but the end vision of the project is to sustain 1000 MB of storage space while maintaining a optimal bandwidth allocation to each user so as to ensure a high speed of activity and enjoyment for the Customer.
The Service will empower the user to be able to send, read, reply, and forward emails to there specified locations. Since we are working on a limited budget we can�t not at this time enable the sending of attachments to emails, but that path is also left open by modularity of java language, so we can add that feature when necessary.
3.     Processor Load Analysis:-
The number of messages per unit time processing power will be determined on hand with various algorithms, since it is best not to waste processor power with liberally distributing messages per unit time. Hence the number of messages will vary with in proportion to the number of registered users online at any given time.
4.     Database Decision Analysis:-
The High level Requirements of the service will have to be decided upon, the details of which can be done when we are implementing the project itself. An example of high level requirements are database management, we have chosen not to opt for flat files because of a number of reasons, first off a flat files are data files that contain records with no structured relationships additional knowledge is required to interpret these files such as the file format properties. The disadvantages associated with flat files are that they are not fast, they can only be read from top to bottom, and usually they have to be read all the way through. Though there is are advantages of Flat files they are that it takes up less space than a structured file. However, it requires the application to have knowledge of how the data is organized within the file.
Good databases have key advantage over flat files concurrency. When you just read stuff from file it�s easy, but tries to synchronize multiple updates or writes into flat file from scripts that run in different process spaces.
Whereas a flat file is a relatively simple database system in which each database is contained in a single table. In contrast, relational database systems can use multiple tables to store information, and each table can have a different record format.
5.     Networking Analysis:-
Virtually every email sent today is sent using two popular protocols known as SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) and MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions).
1.     SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol)
The SMTP protocol is the standard used by mail servers for sending and receiving email. In order to send email we will first establish a network connection to our SMTP server. Once you have finished sending your email message it is necessary that you disconnect from the SMTP server
2.     MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions)
The MIME protocol is the standard used when composing email messages.

JavaMail configuration with gmail as SMTP server

Hello,
I am trying to implement component based alerting in our new SAP PO 7.31 landscape. I have configured the steps according to the blog of Michel the necessary steps.
I am planning to use GMAIL SMTP server and hence trying to configure the parameters for the same. However in the Java Schduler Logs i could see exception TLS excpetion.
I tried configuring mail.smtp.host as smtp.gmail.com with my gmail credentials. Also i tried giving mail.smtps.host as smtp.gmail.com but no luck.
Please let me know incase anyone had implemented this scenario. Also please let me know whether it is possible to get the WSDL of the CMBA alert that gets raised.

I get the message listed above when I try to email pics. It asked me to set up an email account. I chose gmail. It asked for a password. I'm assuming it was asking for my email password. And yes I may have typed it in wrong, but how do I "please make sure you have entered the email account and password correctly" ??? I can't find out how to get back to that point?

Install 10gR2 RAC with RH4AS + VM Ware Server Beta (Free version)

Have anyone ever tried to use VM Ware Server Beta (free download version) with RH4 for the 10g 2-node RAC installation - without use of the kit provided by Oracle?
I just finished setup the VMWare server and wonder whether or not it will work with 10g RAC if I follow the Oracle-on-Linux VMware Cookbook.
Any instruction or guidedance is greatly appreciated.

I started testing on my 1G RAM XP machine with use of shared disk. The installation went very slow to the point never completed. I'm looking into a bigger machine right now. Will keep this thread posted. What is the spec of machine you're using?
