Installing WRT54G - "No internet Connection" message

I have a 2wire Gateway and AT&T high speed internet. Just got a WRT54G, trying to do the setup.
Connecting my gateway to my PC, using either of my two network cables, the internet works just fine. Connecting gateway to WRT54G to PC, following the installation software, installation fails with "No internet connection" - and it's right, there is no internet connection - I had to plug the network cable directly from the gateway to the PC again to type this.
When I connect gateway-WRT54G-PC, the power, WLAN, internet and 1 lights on the WRT54G are lit, so it clearly thinks there's a connection.
Does this router not work with 2wire gateways? Any suggestions?
Cheers,
Peter

If you are getting Ip - 192.168.1.69 ...change the LAN IP of the router to 192.168.2.1 .... Click save settings .... it will show "Page cannot be displayed" message .... Unplug the Power of Router & then the Modem ...
Wait for few minutes ... then plug in first Modem Power then the Router Power ....
Access the setup page of router using http://192.168.2.1 .... use same username & password you used last time .. ...
Check if you are able to go online or not ...
If not then on the router setup page ...use Internet Connection type as PPPOE .... use ISP ...... username & password ....
Click save settings ....
Check under Status tab if it shows connected or not ... if so then you are getting valid Ip Address .....
If not then let me know the error message you are getting .....

  • Ever since I installed Lion my internet connection comes and goes, has anyone else had the same experience. have rung Apple Care and they have reset my connection but it is still happening

ever since I installed Lion my internet connection comes and goes....have reported this to Apple Care who have helped me reset my connection but it is still happening...cant believe it is a fault of the ISP as my Iphone does not have this problem, nor does my PC laptop...is this a fault in the new system?

Thanks so much but none of that helped.  It was driving me crazy because it would back up another external drive.  I just changed the name of the drive from iPhoto/iTunes Library to Media Libraries and IT WORKED!! I guess for some reason it didn't like the drive being called iPhoto or iTunes ???? I don't understand but I have tried so many solutions and exchanging things out but the name change did it????!!!
Thank you for your help and replying to this.  Guess I made my own issue!

  • Internet Connection Message at startup and various moments of the day

I started out using a dial-up connection, then later upgraded to ethernet. Now, everytime I start up my iMac I get a Internet Connection message. Here's what it says, The selected communications device does not exist. Please verify your settings and try again. I click ok and my wirless still works. Then, later during my session I get the message again. Any thoughts on how to get rid of this message? Thanks in advance.
p.s. is this the right place for this question?
    Thanks,
    mdawg

Yes, this is the right place for such a question.
The issue with your problem is working out specifically which 'communications device' the Mac is complaining about. It's presumably the modem, but that's not necessarily the case.
The first place to look would be in System Preferences -> Network.
What network ports are enabled there? If the modem is still listed and is the preferred connection (it's at the top), then the Mac is going to try to use the modem and fall-back to the ethernet network if the modem fails.
If that is the case the solution is simple - just use the Show popup menu in Network Preferences to select Network Port Configurations. Here you can enable and disable different ports, as well as change their priority (by dragging them up/down).
Either drag the ethernet port to the top of the list or, if you never expect to go back to the modem, disable the modem option.

  • WRT54G no internet connection issue

    Hi,
I've been using a WRT54G router for a few years and it's worked fine until now.  I recently installed AVG8.5 on to my computer and now the router can't find the internet connection.  I have my compture wired to it.
I hooked the mode directly up to my computer to make sure the modem wasn't the issue and it worked fine.  I checked to make sure the local settings were on autodect and the lights on the router are all lit correctly.  I have uninstalled AVG8.5 and the router still keeps saying that it cannot detect an internet connection.  I've tried reseting the router and reinstalling the software, but no dice.
I did manage to get it to broadcast its SSID, but when I tried to connect wireless it won't allow anything to connect to it.  So, I'm assuming something is blocking it on my machine.  Any advice?  Thanks!
                                  -Ashes

After resetting the router I assume the router is not properly confiured and that's the reason you have lost the Internet connection on all the computers...
You should leave the AVG8.5 un-installed and re-configure your router...

  • After installing Time Capsule internet connection slow

Since I installed Time Capsule on my Mac, my internet connection started acting up. The web browsing is VERY SLOW, and applications that are web-based no longer work properly. For instance, I have an EyeFi Wireless Explore SD card and the related EyeFi Manager software that allows me to wirelessly transfer my photos on the eyefi card to the eyefi website, as well as my photo service (Kodak Gallery or Flickr) and also transfers the photos to my Mac. Before I set up my Time Capsule, the eyefi system worked flawlessly. Now the uploads hang up and do not complete. I also have very slow progress trying to use my webmail, or loading webpages in general. I use the Safari browser.
My Time Capsule is set up as a separate wireless network, so I access the internet thru my original home wireless network. Is anyone having the same issues after installing Time Capsule, and does anyone have a solution?

Try doing a Safe Mode reboot by holding down the Shift key when you hear the start-up tone. When the progress bar appears you can release the key. A Safe Reboot will clear some of the caches, it's possible one became corrupt. If that doesn't work do both a SMC and PRAM reset, you may need to do each 2-3x.
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • Have macbook pro early 2011, blank hard drive (new), no install DVD, inadequate internet connection. How do I install an OS in the thing ?

Have macbook pro 15" early 2011, blank hard drive (new), Install DVD not available and an inadequate internet connection.
How do I install an OS in the thing ?
Can I purchase an installation disk? (I think it originally shipped with snow leopard 10.6.6)
My first time with Macs and I would love to get it going.
    Thanks....

You can purchase replacement discs from Apple:
Apple Store Customer Service at 1-800-676-2775 or visit online Help for more information.
To contact product and tech support: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes
    international calling numbers.
You can upgrade the firmware to enable Network Restore: Computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery. After upgrading you can do the following:
Install OS X Using Internet Recovery
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

I have a Mac Pro that has no ability to hook up to internet unless I carry it very very far to a different location.  However  I have a laptop with wireless internet connection.  Can I download Lion to my laptop and install it later on my Mac Pro?  what is the procedure? or can I somehow get the wireless laptop to supply my mac pro with internet?  I tried the internet sharing thing without success....

If you have never purchased Lion, (eg. your Macbook came with it preinstalled) then ring Apple and purchase it. They will give you a redemption code and you can then follow the link and download it. Then transfere the download to your other computer (given that it is compatable with Lion) and install.
If you have previously purchased Lion, then go the App Store and look under purchases and redownload it using the same Apple ID you used when you originally purchased it.
Also transfere a copy of it to an external drive before installing so as to keep a copy of the installes should you need it again for any of your computers.

  • "No Internet Connection" Message

I got the "No Internet Conection" message when tried to update my C7 to Belle. I've already re installed Nokia Suite to version 3.3.86, disabled firewall and still nothing. I don't use any proxy and already checked the certificates issue and all is fine.

    Hi pedbrinco,
Can you browse the internet using Internet Explorer?
Have you tried uninstalling Nokia Suite from the PC which doesn't work and reinstalling it?
Also, it may be worth to reset your router and change your password, then reconnect. Do this before reinstalling the application, to make sure it is not a network issue.
If the problem persists check your firewall settings.
You can try also turns out firewall and try to uninstall  the antivirus and then restart computer. After computer came on again, I hope that the updater for nokia belle will work.

  • Installing without an Internet Connection

Is there a way to install Arch Linux without a working internet connection? I figure you could just download all of Arch to a USB, and then manually copy that over to the hard drive; but I'm a bit confused as how to do this.
Is this the correct way to do it, and where can I get such a copy of Arch to install. If it's not the way to do this, then how do you do it? Is it even possible?
    Thanks in advance!

If you seen the wiki, in the facts you'll get the Arch iso unsquashed and copied into your partition. Maybe later you will need to connect to INTERNET to complete from the minimal installation.
From USB you may obtain a complete set of packages upto the result you want. That's means you install everything of your liking on the USB, then later you'll be able to clone into the partition. Note that host computer may not reflect the same destination hardware, so you just use open source video drivers.
You just keep the pacman cache safe and use it to install into you partition. To avoid download you should use the very same package list. See here

  • Internet Connect message....

I keep getting a message from "Internet Connect" ( the purple icon in my preferences), asking if I want to stay connected or not. I have not seen this before...what did I do if anything, to get this to come up and can I un-do this message. It is annoying !!!! Thanks !!!

In the Network Control Panel>PPP Tab>PPP Options... button, you should find what you need.

  • Initial install w/o Internet Connection

Hello all! (My first ever post on archlinux).
I have here in my hands a CD-R containing the latest version of archlinux (base). Before I take the plunge and install it, I want to know if I need a working internet connection for the initial install. I have migrated to arch from xubuntu because it had horrible conflictions with my hardware, namely my wireless router/USB receiver. I'm willing to make it work with arch, but was just wondering whether I should lug my PC in range of my modem and wire it (via RJ-45 ethernet cable) or if I would be 'okay' using my WLAN connection.
Thanks, and I look forward to learning with you all!

You do not need an internet connection to complete the BASE install.  You will, however, require an internet connection aftwerwards to install DE, and other applications.
As a start, I would connect to the router via Ethernet Cable and once I have my PC working as I wanted it, look for ways and means to use the wireless card.
I would recommend that you follow the Archwiki Official Installation Guide (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Off … tall_Guide) or this http://home.comcast.net/~pudges-place/a … page1.html
    Welcome to ARCH!

  • WRT54G dropping internet connectivity with Clearwire modem

I recently switched ISPs from Comcast to Clearwire. I'm linking two laptops with v. 6 of a WRT54G, which I used successfully for a couple years with my comcast service. The Clearwire service is working ok, but lately every day, sometimes twice a day, my internet speed slows to a crawl and finally stops. While this degradation of connectivity occurs, my status bar on my computer shows good wireless connection at 54 mbps and I have 5 lights on the clearwire modem, indicating best signal. I can unplug the power to the router, then after 30 seconds or so when it boots back up, I'm back to full speed on the internet. This tells me (I think) that I have an issue with the router rather than my internet connection. I'm running the router in secure mode. Is this thing just getting sick and tired or do you think there is something to be tweaked here? Thanks.
    Tad

You need to Upgrade your router's firmware...
    Download the Firmware...
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -

Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
    Now reset your router :
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...It should work now without dropping the Internet Connection...
