Installing XI in NW2004s

Can someone give the reference to ALL the post-installation configuration documents needed to install SUCCESSFULLY the XI Scenario in NW2004s?

Hi Dinesh,
As I mention, it is not possible to install XI only on Java stack. It required ABAP+JAVA.

    Nico,
Thanks for this solution!  We too have been running into this same issue on our SAP NetWeaver 2004s installs (ECC, BW, EP and Solution Manager) on 32bit and 64bit Windows 2003 Servers for about 2 months.  Once we added the SAPService<SID> security account as a local administrator at the Java status is UNKNOWN for each install, rebooted the server and re-ran the installs (using the continue a previous installation method) they were able to finish succesfully.  One fix maybe is to add each SAPService<SID> as a domain administrator but if you are cautious about security, it's not the wisest approach on resolving it.  Hopefully SAP can provide a hotfix or more solid solution to install the NetWeaver 2004s products on a Windows 2003 environment.
    Thanks,
    Nick

I had a problem in the ABAP Load, but not "permision denied". I believe the cause was that I had installed Java SDK 1.4.2_09 and after I rebooted it asked me if I wanted to upgrade to 1.5. Without thinking, I said yes. After I hit the ABAP Load error I uninstalled NSP and Java SDK. I manually deleted a bunch of files that weren't killed by the uninstall. The second time the installation worked. I had done three things differently: I installed SAPGUI first. I downloaded SDK 1.4.2_10 and didn't upgrade it. I used the 680mb value in the instructions for the I/O Buffer cache instead of the default of 100mb.
If you want to run SGEN, to compile all the delivered ABAP, you will need to enter at least 12000 for the Data volume size. I have two Volumes of 9000 each.

  • NW2004s Rampup install scenario

I am installing BI for NW2004s. I want to know what is the baseline for this. When I install does this include WEBAS and JAVAAS. I am installng on single host. I realize this requires EP but I assume I do not need to install EP on same host. Any thought would help and I have reviewed the install manuals.
Sorry I posted in BI general and did not realize this forum.
    Thanks, John

    Hi John,
I do not know whether I completely get your questions.
I want to point you to a FAQ that we are currently setting up for questions relating to the portal implementation (BI FAQs or /bifaq in the Service Marketplace). Since this page is currently still in development, please find underneath our internal working document.
If you do not find the answer to your question therein, please update the discussion.
      Cheers
NW04s BI Ramp-UP Back Office Team
    Excerpt from working document
Q: Which functionalities of BEx Web in SAP NetWeaver 2004s require SAP NetWeaver 2004s Portal?
    A: For example:
    - New BEx Web Application Designer (Unicode, Command Wizard, …)
    - Exporting to PDF and Printing
    - Integrated Planning
    - Drag&Drop (Analysis Web Item)
    - Web Items (Container Layout, Menu Bar, Tab Pages, Button Group, …)
    - Formatted Reporting with BEx Report Designer
    - Document Integration with storage in Knowledge Management
Q: Do you need one server or two servers for Portal and BI?
A: This depends on the expected load on Portal and on the existing system landscape
One server if only BI system exists à Usage types AS-ABAP and AS-Java on one server
Two server if BI system and Portal (used as Enterprise Portal) exist à Usage types AS-ABAP and AS-Java on two separate servers
Q: Is it recommend to install one Portal or two Portals?
A: Two portals if one Portal is for BI only and one Enterprise Portal (different user groups), One Portal for both use cases (BI Portal and Enterprise Portal) (common user group)
Q: If you don’t use any new BEx Web functionality, do you have to install a SAP NetWeaver Portal?
A: No, if you only use SAP BW 3.5 BEx Web functionality, you don‘t need a Portal
Q: If you have an existing SAP EP 6.0, do you have to have to upgrade it to use new BEx Web functionality?
A: No, but you have to install a SAP NetWeaver 2004s Portal in front of your BI system. New BI content can be shown in a SAP EP 6.0 Portal via SAP NetWeaver 2004s Portal.
Q: Is it a requirement to upgrade or install the BI system and Portal simultaneously?
A: No, you can upgrade or install them independently. But you need a SAP NetWeaver 2004s Portal to use any new BEx Web functionality.
Q: If you already have a non-SAP Portal in use, do you have to install a SAP NetWeaver Portal?
A: Yes, if you use any new BEx Web functionality, you have to install a SAP NetWeaver 2004s Portal in front of your BI system. But you can display BI content in the non-SAP Portal.
Q: A customer has a BEx web template included as an iView in a SAP EP 6.0. Now he upgrades his underlying SAP BW 3.x system to SAP NetWeaver 2004s and generates the web template on the new NW04s Java / Portal runtime but still wants to see the template as the same iView in his SAP EP 6.0. What happens to the iView in the SAP EP 6.0?
A: The iView can still run in SAP EP 6.0. Two properties of the iView need to be changed:
    1. Version property (BWVersion): new in NW2004s but automatically added to old iViews
    2. BEx Web Application Query String (Report):  replace “template_id” to “template” and adjust technical template name if new template does not have the same name

  • How to check if XI installed

    Hi,
I know this is a basic question.
Our basis guys installed, BI of NW2004s, how to check if they have installed XI.
Any links, documents in this direction would help me.
    Thanks,
    -Naveen.

    Hi,
For the Java part of xi, you use this URL:
    http://<host>:5<nn>00/rep
with <host> = your XI server hostname
    with <nn> = your XI system ID (e.g 01)
Note: no user is needed to display this Java page.
For the Abap part, just use your SAP Logon with both parameters: <host> and <nn>. If you can enter a user and a password, that's means that ABAP part of XI is installed.

  • How to delay the license days in XI-NW2004s?

I have successfully installed the XI-NW2004s,but only used in 30days.
I think I can adjust time back to setup day to use longer. To my disappointed, there were many j2ee service failed in Visual J2EE administrator.
How to delay the license days in J2EE service ?
Can I install a temp license in Tcode "slicense" just like Minisap developer?
    Thx !
    points will be award !
    best regard!

    Hi Raymond,
You need to make sure that the date to which you are changing should be greater then the date of installation. why don't you try this
1.Use <b>SU01</b> transaction to find the date when the user was created.
    2. Now change the system date to that particular date or one day greater.
Make sure all the instances of 2004's are down before changing the system date.
    once done restart the system.
    That should work.....
    Regards

  • Installing Analytics 1.0 Composites

    HI All:
I am looking for instructions to install/load Analytics 1.0 Composites.  I have already installed Viscual Composer 6.0.  I aslo have the composites.  However, I wasn't able to find any instructions on the actual install.
    Imran

    Hi,
SAP xApp Analytics v1.1 is currently in ramp up. Version 1.0 was previously available only as part of a pilot (prior to the official ramp up).
SAP xApp Analytics v1.1 uses VC 7.0 (ie. EP 7.0 / NW2004s). However, it is possible to install a standalone NW2004s system, where the Visual Composer and Analytics are used for development purposes only. You can then transport the iView (technically, transport the PAR) out to your EP 6.0 system and run it on there. Therefore, the separate NW2004s box can be sized very small, and this way, you do not have to upgrade your productive EP 6.0 system straight away to use Analytics (we have many customers on the ramp up already using this scenario).
If you may be interested in joining the ramp up, please send me an email.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • NW2004s Trial only Printer is LPT1:

    Hello,
    I have installed the actual NW2004s on a Win2000-System.
OK, this Win-Version is not supported, but it runs properly and newer Versions would have the same Problem.
The problem is, that the only available Printer is LPT1:
I have an Epson-Printer(Stylus Photo 830U) connected via USB.
I have no physical parallel printer-port.
Any ideas, how to redirect the NW2004s-print-output to an USB-Printer or an PDF-File ?
    Thanks
    Armin

    Hello Oliver,
the USB-printer is running now :-).
For anybody who is interested, here are the steps:
    - Start the SAP printer daemon
    In Windows-menue: Start->Programs->SAP Front End->SAP printer daemon
    Or the exe-file: <Drive>:<path>\GUI\SAPgui\SAPlpd\SAPlpd.exe
    - Start transaction SPAD (Spool Administration)
    - In the card "Devices/Servers" find the field "OutputDevices"
    - Write the name of a new printer (for example: "MyPrinter") in the field "outputdevices"
    - Click the "Display"-Buttom at the right side of the field.
The list of Output Devices appears, yet, there is "no entry defined".
    - In the main Menue choose the entry: "Output Device"->"create".
Now you are in the Window Create Output Device, and the name of your new printer is already filled.
    - In DeviceAttributes/DeviceType choose: HKSAPWIN:MS Windows driver via SAPLPD.
    - In DeviceAttributes/SpoolServer choose: <YourServer>
    - In AccessMethod/HostSpoolAccessMethod choose: S: Print Using SAP Protokoll
    - In AccessMethod/Host printer write (exactly): __DEFAULT
    - In AccessMethod/Destination host write the <name of your server>.
The servername must be the same name listed in the saplpd-window after Hostname:
    - Save your new printer.
    - Apply with "yes", that a shortname is automatically created.
The printer should be ready now, but in the User maintanance(SU01), the default for "Output Immedately"
is not activated. You have to change this setting for every user who wants to print, otherwise, your prints will remain in the spool-queue.
    Hope this helps
    Armin

Please help in resolving the issue.
    Thanks,

I believe this means that your test was successful.  I was able to get this same response -- which is good, but now I can't get this response, I get Exception in method rpData now, with no version info -- so I don't know how I broke this piece.

  • ADS configuration error - PDF form not displaying for Java WebDynpro

    Hi Experts,
Sub : Problem with configuring Adobe Document Services
    We have installed .. NW2004s SP12 on HP-UX OS.
As of now all the services are working fine, recently started configuring "Adobe Document Services", followed all the instructions given in the guide.
    Environment :
    =============
    - Configuring ADS Webservice for "BASIC" Authentication, not for SSL
    - Poratl (AS JAVA) and BI (AS ABAP) are running in different systems.
    - Portal using UME as the data storage.
    - OS is HP-UX
Configuration Check for Interactive Forms in Web Dynpro for Java
    =================================================================
    1. Checking the User and Password ---
http://<server>:<port>/AdobeDocumentServices/Config -- the system displays the version number of the Adobe document services in the response area.
    2. Configured Webservice for Basic Authentication -- success
In the process of testing this configuration -- i've developed a Java Webdynpro interactive form and deployed into my DEV server (NW2004s Sp12).
Unfortunately, form is displaying in my sneak preview version (Nw2004s SP9), getting error when deployed into Dev server - NW2004s SP12 on HP-UX.
We haven't installed ADS separately, making use of ADS comes with the default installation.
    Error :
    =======
    java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Reatimed out
    com.sap.tc.webdynpro.clientserver.adobe.pdfdocument.base.core.PDFDocumentRuntimeException: Failed to  UPDATEDATAINPDF
I found that the following directory is empty in DEV server ... /usr/sap/EPL/JC03/j2ee/os_libs/adssap/XMLFormService, but not in sneak preview version.
Please do let me know to solve the problem.
    Thanks

    Thanks for quick response.
Installed Reader in my PC, i can view the deployed interactive form thru sneak preview, but getting the following error when running the same application thru my development server.
    java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Reatimed out
    com.sap.tc.webdynpro.clientserver.adobe.pdfdocument.base.core.PDFDocumentRuntimeException: Failed to  UPDATEDATAINPDF
I've installed Adobe Reader in the client PC not is the server system.
    Thanks
