Installing your Netgear A6200 Wi-Fi USB Adapter
We have signed up for the big bundle Telstra Internet thing, $119/mth, in order to get all our stuff under one roof and get 500G/mth. Currently we're with Aanet. We have said nothing to them. Telstra tells us our change over date is 31/7/15 Today a parcel containing a modem and a cd arrived. Nothing else. No paperwork, no manuals, etc. I wasn't expecting that. Took a look at the CD and it wants to jump straight into installing, gives no information at all. So I would like to know what's going on. I had thought we'd just reconfigure our router to log in to Telstra. But here's a whole new router. Questions: Must we use this Telstra hardware? If we don't 'must' use it what's the consensus - it's better to use it? (Current is old Bipac 5200) Can we/should we run the install CD package now or at some later date? If we don't need to do it now does it matter if we do? Our setup is a home wireless LAN with xp, 7 and vista, six or seven machines, the bipac adsl modem and a WGR614 wireless point in dumb switch mode feeding the BIPAC. Will the Telstra thing fit into this scheme no problem? The Telstra thing has no arial but comes with a card saying Network Name and Wireless Key and giving a couple of numbers. What's that mean? That it is in fact a wireless router as well as modem? Have I stepped off the highway somewhere? How come I find myself without any answers to any of these questions as part of the package? How come I have to come to 'Crowd Support' ? Doesn't that just mean 'unpaid users giving ad hoc replies as seems fit and without any certainty of expertise' and imply an absence of Telstra staff? What am I gonna do, momma?

Install problems USB Adapter Card support 1.4.41 to Mac OS 8.6
I am attempting to install the Apple USB driver 1.4.1 on my PowerMac 7600/132 to be able to use a newer printer. This computer does not have internet access and is a stand alone financial computer running Quick Books Pro.

SpencerI did this years ago when I had a PM6500 running 8.6 & added a USB PCI card, but know I didn't have the problem you are having.
When I downloaded from the link you provided, I got this file USBCard_Support1.4.1.smi.bin. After using Stuffit Expander, I got this file +USB Card Support 1.4.1.smi+, which is the installer. I don't have a Mac running 8.6, so I can't try the install.
Suggest you do this. Put the smi.bin file in a folder on your desktop & then uncompress using Stuffit. This will yeild the .sim file. Then double click the .sim file. Did you get the message "+Please insert the disc: USB Adapter Card Support+" when you double clicked the .sim file? Or some other file?
When you downloaded the smi.bin file did you use a Mac or a PC & then put on a Zip disc? What computer did you use to uncompress to get the .sim file?

I have just connected to broadband via bigpond. They sent me a netgear usb adapter for my laptop but I can't seem to get it working, I have connected via the ethernet fine. As soon as I can afford it i will get a Airport card but at this stage I would like to use the adapter untill i can afford one Please help.

I don't think either of the Netgear USB adapters are Mac compatible. Your best bet is an AirPort Extreme card. Other than that the only other reliable wireless adapter would be an ethernet bridge (Linksys WET54G) but the cost is about the same as AE.

Problem w/ WG111v3 usb adapter
Hi, i have an iMac running 10.3.4, and have the Netgear wg311v3 usb adapter. I download the appropriate driver for Mac from Netgear's site, install and try to run. The icon appears in the dock momentarily and disappears. Needless to say it does not work or appear in the Network setup either. I have spent 8hours or so googleing and trying various poss. fixes all to no avail.
Any thoughts ?

The 10.3.9 Combo update, and any last security update, Java update,
last supported QuickTime, & any players (flash/shockwave) may also
be outdated, to the degree of any latent support for obsolete Panther.
The recently acquired USB driver may have a minimum requirement
in the system it could be used in; so those specs would be important
to know, and then see if your computers need to be updated first.
Also, outside of routine and periodic maintenance, which may help in
most anything to do with the OS X system in general, there may be
some conflict or issues in the status of the Panther installations.
What version and specifications of iMac (G4?) are you running?
Some third party adapters and accessories are fairly concise to
what they can be used with, and the specs should be available.
The older 800MHz iMac G4 has USB 1.1 ports, and also has
the slower built-in support for 802.11/b wireless via AirPort
when the card is available and installed.
This (Netgear) USB adapter, what is it going to be used to connect to?
Some back-checking, shows it is a wireless adapter; so it probably
has minimum OS X version support necessary to function; and
also the power to the USB port, and speed rating of the ports, is an
important consideration when using a USB peripheral.

You may have to look into the Console and other System Log files
and see if there is any evidence there as to what is happening in
regard to the launch and failure of the product driver or other OS X
clues; since there may be something missing in the Panther OS.

Connection constantly dropping with edimax ew-7612uan USB adapter
Hi there,
I have just installed a newly purchased edimax ew-7612uan USB wireless adapter, the problem that I'm getting is that the connection works fine on boot however it keeps dropping very frequently.
This can be reset by running netctl restart my-network. which is a temporary fix but I can't keep on doing this every 5 minutes or so when the connection drops.
I don't think there is a problem with the USB adapter as it appears to work fine in windows (I don't work fine with windows though!).
The same problem has happened on both of my Arch computers... I don't use any other distributions so I don't know if this is an arch specific problem or a general Linux problem. It also happens when using the live disk.
The old adapter is still installed in the box but once I can get this one working properly it will be removed.

Hi all, new to this site and also to owning a laptop. Bought what I believe to be 2009 Thinkpad R500. It works well with windows 7 installed. I bought it so that I could stream music in my shop connected to my stereo. I sometimes think I should have maybe save up a little more and bought a new laptop. Paid $200 for it. Anyway I was wondering if anyone could tell if the item below will work with my laptop? My thoughts are to some time in the near future to also install an outdoor wifi antenna on my house. One thing I did notice in my shop which confused me a little was when I had my laptop and my wife's laptop down in my shop, her signal strength was around 20 mbps and mine only showed 13 mbps. I'm going to take a stab in the dak that the card is Intel 5100AGN, which *should* support both bands. That's what my own R500 came with.
Depending on the amount of $$ that you want to spend on a router, there are many possible options. I'd suggest checking out the recommendations from various broadband forums.

Problem setting up connection with 2wire USB adapter (BT Home Network 1200)
I keep on running into a brick wall setting up my internet connection on my newly purchased MacBook (I have never used a mac before, having used a PC for years). I am trying to set up my macbook as an additional computer on my BT Home Network 1200, and I have installed the drivers given on the 2wire CD, but even when I plug in the USB adapter, the Macbook does not seem to recognise it. The adapter looks something like this:
Anyway, the instructions given in the BT Home Network PDF manual seem to suggest that it is relatively straightforward, and that it is simply a matter of clicking the apple menu, selecting "control panels", selecting "TCP/IP", and then in the "connect via" box, clicking on the pulldown menu and selecting 2Wire PC Port. However, I am using 10.4.9 and it seems to me that this guide must have been written for an outdated version of Mac OS X because none of these instructions seem to make sense or work in the context of my macbook. At the moment, it seems like I won't be able to get my macbook online. Could someone please help explain to me how to get around this?Any reference to 'Control Panels' will, indeed, be for Mac OS 9.x, the last version of which (9.2) was released in 2001.
My advice would be to return it to BT and ask them for an ethernet-based modem, not a USB one.
USB DSL modems have varying levels of support in Mac OS X ranging from poor to none. The fact that 2Wire doesn't include Mac OS X instructions implies that this model is at the lower end of that scale.
By comparison, an ethernet-based modem will connect to your Mac via ethernet, have the option of sharing the connection with multiple machines, typically be faster, and has an almost 100% compatibility rate. -
Compatibility of Agilent GPIB/USB adapter with NI

I have an Agilent GPIB / USB adapter 82357B, and I'm experiencing some problems for detecting my instruments in the laboratory when I try to use the labview software for capturing the data from the measurement instruments.
I installed the CD with the libraries the adapter has and through this software I can detect the instruments, however once that I open the Labview software from National instruments(NI) for capturing my data, I miss comunication with the devices in both programs, the Agilent one and in the MAX of NI.
I run across a document regarding tip on using Agilent GPIB solutions in National instruments's Labview environment. I have done all the document indicates, but It is not workingt, I experience the problem I outlined above for detecting the instruments.
I hope someone can help me with that.

It sounds like there may be some conflict between the NI VISA and Agilent drivers, which can occur between certain models; considering when you use the NI cable data can be collected when when you're using the Agilent you cannot. Please tell me what versions of both drivers you are using so I can determine whether or not there are any known incompatibilities between the two if you're still receiving the same error after following these instructions.
Can you also please go through this instrument troubleshooting guide to see if your installation matches the expected configuration of a functional device so we can confirm that your driver has been installed correctly from the previous guides.
For a IEEE488 Agilent Device Card, as you mentioned that you have the NIVISATulip.dll enabled, for this GPIB configuration to work you must ensure that the 488 Programs must be activated with NI 488.2 (At the Enable Agilent GPIB cards option) through the Agilent Connection Expert.
You've mentioned that you've been able to establish a connection with the device and see communication transfer, yet you are getting no returned communication. Do you see a similar response when you view the device through the Measurement and Automation Explorer?
If it is possible, could you test your configuration with any other Agilent devices with your current configuration and see if the error persists?

Handycam won't power up. Removed hard drive and hooked it up with a usb adapter to a laptop. Drive not shown in my computer. I found drivers for the adapter and toshiba hard drive but hard drive is not found.

Unfortunately, the failure code for the hard drive is fortelling you of what is to come. In my opinion I would address the solution by the following specific actions:
1: Back up any data that can be accessed from the original drive, onto an external hard drive. To minimize the risk of losing any information.
2: Replace the failing hard drive, before it gets to the point of complete failure. This may also prevent loss of personal data.
and 3: Decide whether you want to upgrade/restore Microsoft Windows 7 onto the pc. That particular pc has current drivers available online at HP Support for the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system.
Once this has been completed, then you can recover any personal data that was backed up to the external hard drive, onto the newly installed hard drive.

Xperia Z1, Problem with OTG and Sony PS3 Headset Pulse USB Adapter
Hi, I did a bit of testing, with headphones Sony PS3 Wireless Headset Pulse , I state that both the adapter and the Sony Pulse Headphones work perfectly on PC and PS3 via the USB adapter , then connect the adapter via USB OTG connection on the Sony Xperia Z1 . With much regret I noticed that the connection between the USB adapter and headphones was established , but the audio was transmitted jerky and scratchy . So I decided to try again via USB OTG headphones Logitech F540 (again, via USB OTG, not via audio jack) , and with much enthusiasm I noticed a connection quick and efficient , without cawing and smoothly ; clear sound as if they were of the headphones connected directly to the Audio Jack with wire . I then decided to try another pair of headphones USB (for PC) , the Creative HS -1200 , connecting via the USB OTG adapter receiver headphones ( ie the same thing I did with Sony and the Logitech ) ; also in this case the Creative Wireless Headphones have received the sound from the USB receiver , without any problem or distortions . Now I want to understand how it might work all this variety of USB devices not Made by Sony , connected via the OTG port , but do not work Devices Made By Sony ? You can solve this problem with the Firmware right?
The firmware installed in my Xperia Z1 is 14.1.G.1.534 .
The OTG cable is fully functional with a multitude of devices (USB HD 2.5 Inch, USB pendrive, USB Audio, USB Mouse and keyboard).
For your info, I already tried to connect the OTG, to a powered USB 2.0 HUB, and on the HUB USB, connect the adapter from Sony and the result is one and the same. The USB adapter will light as the Sony Z1 directly connected to the OTG, but the sound from the speakers gets crackling and jerky. I tried to connect the USB adapter of Sony headphones, and then connect the cable from USB jack to the audio jack of Z1, and of course the audio works perfectly, because it bypasses the USB audio sent by Z1, going to use the 'Jack audio input, and using the USB Headset adapter (Sony Pulse) as a simple transmitter.

Edit: i have try with samsung S3 and Samsung S4 with OTG and the Sony HeadSet Pulse work fine with the USB Dongle. The problem is on the firmware audio of the Xperia Z1.Two possibility
The driver is not right
Or the second i know and it's not possible to fix , they can happen on any audio device with any pc or other host
You can try your headset over a usb hub with a extern power source and connect the usb hud on your phone , if this not continu it's a power problem with the usb port
Sometime a usb port cannot provide suffisent power and that affect the audio or any data transfer , a usb hub provide on each port the power they need so when you cronnect your headset that give the good power to him
Few friends know this issue with a variety of device
One use one device on each port on his pc and there happen the pc cannot provide suffisent power for his headset , I suggest to use the minimal on his usb port and he don't have the problem , I suggest to buy a usb port power by an external source and that fixed the problem
If his your problem no update can fix that for fixing you need a Y cable to give more power to the usb port of your celphone and using a external power source (portable charging , solar panel custom 5v usb port with AA batterie) -
Trying to connect to internet via rokair wireless usb adapter
I have a graphite clamshell ibook g3. I got it in 2000 and it did the job for me back then. it was great. In 2005 I upgraded the os to 10.3. now i would just like to be able to connect to the internet wirelessly (to linksys cisco router for comcast) to do simple things online, nothing fancy. rather than pay for an airport card (which it didnt come with) and hub, i just bought a rokair usb adapter. My ibook only has 1 usb port and its indented so the rokair people sent me a 1ft usb 2.0 wire to attach to the adapter. Ive installed the driver for os 10.3 but the computer does not recognize the usb adapter. Its still giving me as "internal modem" and "built-in ethernet" as my only options in the network folder. Is the computer not recognizing the USB 2.0? IS it even possible to upgrade this computer to acknowledge this type of USB?

Your iBook has USB 1.1. That adapter appears to be backward compatible with USB 1.1 so that shouldn't be a problem.
You probably should contact their support to see if they can offer any suggestions. -
MacMini with Wireles-N USB adapter
Guys, I want to up-speed my MacMini from Wireless G to N. Not to keep on ripping it apart to install a N card and then loose the warranty. Thus, was considering installing a Wireless N USB adapter (and disable the on-board adapter). I was thinking about the nNano from QuickerTek. Has any of you had success with doing just this (with the QuickerTek or another brand of adapter)?

E2000 router meets Fry's USB Adapter
Hello:
Purchased my first router -- yeah! Cannot make my old XP machine to work -- bummer. I bout a Fry's USB adapter. I loaded it. The manager sees a signal from the router. However, when I try to connect, I cannot. I tried switching the router from WPA2 to WEP but it did not help. I called Fry's help desk. They said to set up a "network" in my router and set it to zero security and see if I get a signal -- sounds like drastic diagnostic testing to me.
Has anyone used Fry's Adapter with E2000 successfully? Thank you.Thank you for your time. I will try it after Chrismas. Why wait? Well, I bought a netbook.
Last night I fired it up, and after resetting the router to WPA2 and some minor wrangling with the router and the netbook, the netbook connected and is up and running -- 5 minutes tops. It is a present so I want to make sure it is working on Christmas day. It uses XP, SP3, just like the desktop I am trying to connect. So, I went back to trying to connect with Fry's adapter and hoping things had changed, but nothing. Keeps saying "trying to connect" even though it shows almost all the signal bars lid. By the way, the Fry's manager also sees four other signals (probably my neighbor's services). I am wondering if it is McAfee that is causing the problems. I had asked Fry's about this before and they said no. The netbook also has McAfee installed but I did not launched it although it seems some form of it is already running.
So, all this would lead me to believe that the problem is with Fry's adapter, and or settings, and possibly the McAfee Security Center on this desktop? Any additional thoughts based in this new info? Please let me know. thank you.
