Installion disc for Mac OS 10.5

I misplaced my installtion disc for my Macbook using 10.5.My hard drive is dead and I am going to replace it. How can I obtain a new disc so I reinstal with the software with new hard drive.

Double check the documentation that came with your computer. Inside that packet the disc usually resides.
Call AppleCare if you still can't find it.
Or recover from the backup you made. If you didn't make a backup, learn about cloning here*:

  • Ebay-password Recovery Disc for Mac OSX Lion

Dear Apple Support Communities: recently on ebay, I have seen several sellers selling a Password Recovery Disc for Mac OSX Lion. This Password Recovery disc claims to be able to reset Lion's password of any user account WITHOUT knowing the old password! Is this possible? This is scary! If so, is there a way to prevent someone from using this disc to reset someone's password without them knowing it? If you want to see for yourself: go to ebay and enter item #  251037274344 for example. There are other sellers also. Thanks.

Anyone can do this from the terminal without even a CD, so no it's not very scary.
If they advertised that they could get into file vault, or the keychain, then that would be another story altogether.

  • External boot disc for MAc Mini

Please forgive the naivety of this question but if some one could confirm this once and for all in simple terms I would be grateful.
I want to have an external hardrive on which I can place OSX so that I can boot from it, rather than the Mini's built in drive, not least so that I can run the disc utility on the built in hardrive. My question is does this external hardrive have to be USB or Firewire or does it not matter? My Mini is an Intel Duo with 2GB RAM running 10.4.9.
    Thanks for any suggestions
    Matt.
Mac Mini intel dual 2GB RAM OS10.4.9   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Presumably this GUID thing also explains why my
current Lacie 500Gb mini hub won't let me load OSX
onto it as it isn't GUID partitioned just HFS+
formatted straight out of the box?
That's exactly right, yes. Since it's not a bootable volume as far as your mini is concerned, it won't give it as an option to install MacOS on it.
Incidentally, once GUID partitioned, you don't have to actually INSTALL MacOS if you want to use it in place of your internal drive. You can use CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper! to clone the internal to the external as a complete single operation, which will leave you with a bootable external that is an exact duplicate of the internal drive. After that, once the external has been tested out, you can then remove whatever you wish from the internal drive, or use it as a backup for the external.
Either/both CCC and SuperDuper! can be downloaded from www.versiontracker.com.

  • Can't find Leopard Installer Disc for Mac Pro and Need to Boot from Disc.

Any chance I can create a bootable DVD for my Mac Pro without having the original to duplicate?

This has to do with the mouse lag/freeze problem people have been having, by the way. Just about any 10 consecutive seconds that I use my mouse, it freezes then jumps a little ways away - which is seriously hampering my ability to finish this editing project.
It's been suggested this is a directory problem, which is why I'm looking for the boot disc. If anyone has any other advice on this, I'm all ears.
I've already changed out the hardware and run disk permissions, etc., to no avail.

  • Any hope for an update for Mac OS 10.6.5 compatibility - Resolved!

Just received the Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 / Premiere Elements 9 bundle and found out the hard way that Premiere Elements 9 is not compatible with my iMac OS 10.6.5. I mistakenly thought that it was. Now what to do? I'm hoping that there is a fix on the near horizon....anyone know?
    Thanks,
    Patti

Problem solved! Okay, I'm relieved but embarrassed...it was a user error. Premiere Elements 9 is compatible with Mac osx 10.6.5 and it was a big oversight on my part in the install process. There are 2 discs for Mac, 2 for Windows versions. The first one contains both PE9 and PEP9 programs, while the second disc contains extra content for Premiere. I had loaded the PE9 and then put the 2nd disc in, thinking I was installing PEP9 program. Because I hadn't finished installing from the first disc (it doesn't automatically take you back to the beginning to get the other program), the data needed for the 2nd disc was absent. So was my mind, apparently! I do think that if there were more detailed install instructions in the booklet, it would have been helpful. However, reading your responses spurred me to on to find the root of the issue...thanks for all your help. My little advice...try not to venture into unknown computer territory when overtired.

how do i install office for mac 2008 to my new i mac which has no optical drive. I have the Office discs and product key

You could purchase any commonly available external USB DVD/CD writer, such as the excellent LG brand units sold on Amazon, for about $30 US.  I've used an LG writer for years to save wear and tear on my older Superdrive.

  • How can i download office for mac from a disc to my macbook air?

how can i download office for mac from a disc to my macbook air?

You have four options that I know of.
    1) Use an external DVD drive that will work on the MBA. (Apple's external Superdrive for MBA)
    2) Use a remote disk connection, using another Mac with a DVD drive, and sharing the drive with the MBA.
    3) Download Office from Microsoft's website, and then use only the registration code that came with your DVD purchase to authorize the registration.
    4) Copy the contents of the Office DVD to a USB flash drive, using another computer. Then install from that flash drive.
Maybe someone else has an idea, if none of the above will woek for you.

  • Word for mac is failing and always asking me to format another disc..kindly help me

Hello there, i'm using macbook pro bought in late 2011. I;m using word for mac and recently the programme kep on crashing and i was not able to autosave my work. ive tried varifying my disc and it still not working. Can i remove and reinstall my mac office. Would it effect my office document that is already saved in my notebook.
    Kindly help me..

Which version of Office are you running? If you want to remove and reinstall, follow the remval instructions here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2398768?wa=wsignin1.0. Although I expect removing Office isn't going to fix your problem... which version of Office 2011 are you running? There was an update earlier this week for version 14.2.5 - are you sure that you're running the latest version?
I would first make certain that you're running the latest version before you do something as drastic as uninstalling and reinstalling. You might want to take your problem to the Word for Mac user forum - here. Let the community know the problems that you're having and see if there are any solutions that the Word experts may have before doing an uninstall and reinstall.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • I don't have a good good disc for the mac box set can i get it with it my serial no.

I don't have a good good disc for the mac box set can i get it with it my box number?

If this is a new box you just bought ad the disk is bad, Apple will replace it for you.  OTOH, if you have lost the disk or it has become damaged over time, that is your responsibility, and though I don't speak for Apple, I'd be very surprised if you had any option other than buying another copy.

  • HT201240 what do i do if I don't have a disc for my mac?

I don't believe that i have the Disc for my Mac and need to reset the admin password to load a new version of the operating system.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You do not need a DVD to reset your administrator password in Mountain Lion. You can do it with OS X Recovery.
To reset your user account password, follow the steps > http://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4101 Then, you will have to reset the Keychain password > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1631
