Instance Administrator has quit. Need to give some privileges to dbobjects.

Hi,
Need some inputs on the below mentioned scenario:
Our project is using TimesTen infrastructure. The configuration etc is all working fine. However, i need to give some additional privileges to the timesten db objects. But the problem is timesten installation was done by my colleague who has quit the organization. Therefore, i am not able to login as instance administrator to give privileges (such as CREATE ANY VIEW on the TimesTen table user).
Request you to suggest what should be done in this case.
TimesTen Version: 11g Release 2 (11.2.2)
Thanks

The 'instance administrator user' is actually the OS user who instaleld TimesTen. You need to log in to the OS as that user and then when you connect to the TimesTen datqabase you will have instance admin privilege. If you don't know th password for the OS user, ask your sysadmin to reset it to a new, known password or, if you have root privilege yoursel, just 'su -' to that user and off you go.
If you are unable to access the OS user then I', afraid there is nothing that can be done...

    Whenever I try to transfer an ebook to my nook (via a macbook), it says adobe has quit unexpectedly and gives me an error code. Does not successfully transfer the ebook.

    I was having the same problem using ADE 4.0.2 and Mac 10.10.1. I finally gave up and deleted ADE version 4 and reinstalled version 3.0.  Works fine, and I can check out ebooks for my Nook using ADE.

  • I need to call some privileged APIs and need some help on this.

    First the Basics:
    This program auto-launches each time a user logs in. It is an authentication type of program. Only users with this app running will be allowed to use a secure network.
    I need to be able to read and write from the route / arp tables, and possibly be able to 'reset' a network adapter. These are the privileged APIs I need to call. I have only found "UNIX" APIs to do this, no apple APIs although I am sure they would have the same restrictions.
    Anyway, what I don't want is that elevate privileges prompt each time a user logs in. I am sure this would become very annoying.
    Possible solutions (I have no idea how to do these):
    1. The installer sets it up to run with admin / privileged access when it starts. I only know how to get a program to start with user privileges (the one that logged in).
    2. The installer flags / registers something that this app can make those API calls. IE: The App is trusted.
    3. The program is split in to two parts and uses Interprocess communication to talk to the privileged part. This still leaves problem #1, how do you get an app to launch as privileged.
    Any other ideas and suggestions would be welcomed.

    What you normally do in this case is write a kernel extension that does all the work and then have a user interface that the user runs. What you are describing sounds very much like a VPN. This is exactly how the Cisco VPN software works, for example.

  • How to make an app auto relaunch if it quits - need some advice....

    Hi all,
    I came across this bit of advice regarding creating a script (I think) that will tell a specific app to relaunch if it unexpectedly quits: http://www.macworld.com/article/57451/2007/04/autorestart.html
    It gives instructions using a program called "Lingon", but this appears to be an earlier version, because the latest version I've downloaded for Leopard seems to have different options. Despite this I've tried to work around the instructions but am failing it appears.
    I am not experienced in this area and would appreciate someone giving me some pointers int he right direction, as I believe this potentially a simple thing to do.
    In Lingon you have 3 main windows:
    In Window 1 I have: "com.jamiemartin.C4DServerLauncher"
    In Window 2 I have: "/Applications/MAXON/CINEMA\ 4D\ R9/C4D\ Server"
    In Window 3 I have: "Run it every 1 minute"
    The reson I have selected "Run it every 1 minute" in section 3 is that I have multipled crash logs for the C4D Server app, so don't know which one to select for the program to recognise the file being modified (when it unexpectedly quits) as is in the original instructions. I assumed this would be a workaround?
    Also, what do I do after I have saved this? Do I have to leave Lingon open for it to work, or has it saved this script somewhere?
    So, I am probably way off the mark, but if anyone can put me back on track I'd greaty appreciate it.
    Thank you in advance. Jme

    OS info updated. Hadn't noticed it wasn't up to date.
    Thanks for the guidance V.K. I did restart the computer (twice) but to no avail - it didn't do anything. And yes, you're right about the possibility of it being the frontmost app every minute being potentially annoying! Hadn't considered that. I didn't follow the original instructions of selecting a crash log as the file to check, as I assume that that wouldn't work, as whenever the app crashes it creates a new crash log instead, so it would, in theory, never recognise a change in the script (as it would be looking at the previous crash log), and thus never realise the app has quit? Or have I got that wrong?
    I'm not sure how the logs are filed. I assumed that the author of that macworld article checked it out and the crash logs are appended to a fixed file. if a new log file is created every time this will of course not work. the alternative is to have the launch daemon watch the whole crash reporter folder instead of a single file. this way the application in question will launch every time ANY application crashes but that seems like an acceptable workaround.
    Also, I notice the instructions say that you need to go deeper than selecting just the app itself, but delve into the package contents, but on this version of Lingon I don't have that option.
    yes it does and you have to do as the article says. in fact this has nothing to do with Lingon at all. we are talking about the application you are watching not Lingon. control-click on the application you are watching and select "show package contents". go to Contents->Mac OS and drag the unix executable file to filed 2 in Lingon.
    Is this the root of the problem for it not working for me?
    yes.
    Also, where does it store this script once I've saved it?
    in ~/Library/LaunchAgents. ~ means your home directory.
    Thanks again in advance. It's a steep learning curve for me!

  • "The Microsoft Exchange Administrator has made a change that requires you quit and restart Outlook" in Exchange 2013

    In Exchange 2013, Outlook finds a new connection point made up of the user’s mailbox GUID + @ + the domain portion of the user’s primary SMTP address. This change makes
    it much less likely that users will see the dreaded message “Your administrator has made a change to your mailbox.”
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd298114(v=exchg.150).aspx
    Although the error message in the topic has been already improved a lot in Exchange 2013, the users may still encounter them in some specific scenarios. We have collected them and let’s discuss them in this thread.
    Symptom
    =======================================
    Consider the following scenario:
    Exchange 2013 was installed for a migration from Exchange 2007/2010.
    The legacy Exchange server is removed after successful migration.
    Exchange 2013 may be updated to Exchange 2013 SP1.
    Some users were being randomly prompted with a popup in their outlook client with the following message when connecting with Exchange 2013 server:
    “The Microsoft Exchange Administrator has made a change that requires you quit and restart Outlook”
    Cause
    =======================================
    The issue may be caused due to Public Folders.
    The msExchHomePublicMDB attribute on Exchange 2013 databases was set to deleted legacy public folder object.
    Solution
    =======================================
    Removed the Public Folder from all the Exchange
    2013 Databases. To do it, we can use ADSIedit.msc and remove the arrtibute - msExchHomePublicMDB from all the Databases:
    1. Open ADSIEdit.
    2. Connect to the Configuration container.3.
    Expand Configuration, expand CN=Configuration,DC=Domain,DC=com.4. Expand CN=Services -> CN=Microsoft Exchange -> CN=Domain -> CN=Administrative Groups -> CN=Exchange
    Administrative Group -> CN=Databases.5. In the right hand pane you will see a list of databases.6.
    Right-click the listed database object -> Properties.7. Check whether the msExchHomePublicMDB value is set to an unavailable value. If you see reference to the old database,
    please clear the value.8. Click OK.9. Check the rest of the databases to make sure
    that they are not populated in the same way.

  • Microsoft Exchange administrator has made a change that requires you to quit and restart Outlook.

    guys we just did the exchange migration from SP3 RU6 2007 to exchange 2010 SP2 , and moved the mailboxes , but few users are getting the prompt saying that -
    Microsoft Exchange administrator has made a change that requires you to quit and restart Outlook.
    So what best can we do to fix the issue. Apart from creating the new outlook profile i know that can be done but to get deeper is anything related to CAS Arrays preferred site enforcement.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Once you moved the mailboxes from older version to new version Exchange RPCClient access Point will change as per new database settings, so users normally get the popup saying that "Microsoft
    Exchange administrator has made a change that requires you to quit and restart Outlook", so user has to restart the outlook to update the new configuration.
    If its taking long time that you have to check the autodiscover URL which is configured in Exchange 2010 and Exchange Replication service these services are responsible
    to update the new configuration in client.
    Also if users are different location (AD Site) it will take some time to replicate.
    I hope there won't be any issues for client due to this popup.

    I got a call to check an issue with a Exchange Server 2013 SP1 environment recently. All server was upgraded from Exchange server 2013 CU2 to Exchange Server 2013 SP1. It was done successfully but many users were being randomly prompted with a popup in their outlook
    client with the following message:-
    “The Microsoft Exchange Administrator has made a change that requires you quit and restart Outlook”
    Although there wasn’t any changes of late in the environment there were random popups like these for multiple users. As the behaviour was not consistent and effecting the entire upgration population
    Please suggest us how to resolve the issue.

    Hi,
    Does the issue happen to all Outlook 2013 users? Please create a new Outlook profile to have a try.
    If it fails, please check the msExchHomePublicMDB value in ADSI Edit:
    1. In Adsiedit, expand Configuration-->CN=Services -> CN=Microsoft Exchange -> CN=domain -> CN=Administrative Groups -> CN=Exchange Administrative Group -> CN=Databases.
    2. Right-click the listed database > Properties.
    3. Check whether the msExchHomePublicMDB value is set to an available value. Please change the value to <not set>.
    4. Click OK.
    Then check whether the issue persists.
