Instance is IDLE , please help
Hi,
Our junior DBA execute this command “alter system set sga_max_size=2000M scope=spfile;”
Now instance is in idle state, how we can manually change this parameter in order to start our instance again .
Thanks
Faheem,
With "idle" state, do you mean by that you are getting the message, "connected to idle instance" is it? if this is the case, there may be two things. One , your database is down means that your you have your db shutdown and needs to be restarted. The other reason could be that you are setting and trying to start a wrong instance. You may need to check back that whether a corrected sid is used or not?
To change this parameter, while being on the idle state, you can create the pfile from the spfile and in that, you can edit this parameter manually.
Issue this command while being inthe idle state,
create pfile from spfile; This would create a pfile in the $OH/dbs folder(in unix) or $OH/database(in windows). Edit that file for the said parameter and restart db with this pfile.

There are a bunch of add-ons that recently were updated, including noscript, adblock, etc. These add-ons were updated successfully and say in the add-on window they will be installed the next time Firefox restarts. There's also a bar that says "restart firefox now" and even when clicking restart firefox, none of the updates seem to load. I had to manually download the noscript the last time to get it to work but alas with the latest update, again, same problems. i tried disabling other plugins with no impact either. Anyone else having a similar problem and does anyone know how to get this resolved?
Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] to reset the extensions registry. New files will be created when required.
See "Corrupt extension files": http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions
If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the "Find Updates" button (in Firefox 4: right-click the extension -> "Find Updates") to do a compatibility check. -

There are a couple of things that you can do yourself before taking your machine into an Apple Store or an AASP... download and run an application named Rember that will run a RAM test for you - let it run for a couple of hours or even overnight. If it turns out that your RAM is faulty, Rember will let you know. If it is faulty, then you have a couple of options - replace the RAM yourself or (particularly if you're under warranty still) take the machine to an Apple Store or AASP and have them replace the RAM.
If Rember finds no fault with the RAM, then you'll need to take it into an Apple Store/AASP and get a free diagnosis on the machine. Three beeps do usually indicate faulty RAM, but if it tests good with Rember you likely have another problem - it could be something as simple as the RAM, somehow, not seated correctly or signs of another hardware problem.
Run Rember first... call back with results.
Good luck,
Clinton -
I downloaded FF 4 and now 5 and with neither my screen looks nothing like it shows on the FF page. For instance, I do not have the orange FF tab in the upper left corner, I have no option of "pin as app" nor do I have Panorama. Can someone please help me?
To get the orange FF tab, go to View > Toolbars > Menu Bar. This should uncheck the menu bar and give you the orange button.
Panorama is a box made of 4 grey rectangles that should be on the far right, if it isn't after you enable the orange FF tab, right click on anywhere on a tool bar that doesn't have anything on it, and you should get a menu with a list of your tool bars that you can check and uncheck. go down to customize at the very bottom and it will open a window with all your buttons. Find the panorama/tab groups button and drag it onto the tool bar of your choice.
to pin a tab as an app, right click on it; it's an option in the right-click menu. -
My iPhone 4 was stolen, how do i lock it permanently using a serial number for instance so nobody can use it or access my personal information, knowing that the thief knows my personal passcode.. Please help, Thanx
You cannot lock it by the serial number. Report it to your carrier and the police. You said that the thief knows your pass code. Does that mean that the thief was a personal friend who would be close enough to you to know what your code was? If that is the case, ask your friend to return your phone.

Please help with Instance Manager
Hello,
I created a button that will show/hide a subform. The issue is I need multiple buttons like this. I thought changing the name of the subform in this script would allow me to use another button for a different subform. For instance, Instead of using the word Alabama I could replace it with Alaska and it would show/hide that subform. Could having multiple pages in a subform affect its functionality? Please Help!
// Invoke the Instance Manager to add and remove the alabama subform.
if (fAlabama.value == "0") { // fAlabama is a document variable used as a flag.
// fAlabama = 1 when the alabama subform is displayed.
_alabama.setInstances(1); // Add the comments subform.
this.resolveNode("caption.value.#text").value = "Clear Alabama"; // Change the button's caption.
fAlabama.value = "1"; // Set the flag value.
else {
_alabama.setInstances(0); // Remove the alabama subform.
this.resolveNode("caption.value.#text").value = "Add Alabama"; // Change the button's caption.
fAlabama.value = "0"; // Reset the flag value.
Thanks,
VenusWhen you say you are not in standalone mode, I assume you are connecting to an Oracle Management Server which is running somewhere in your network. You need to discover your node. To do this you must start the intelligent agent on the server where you have your database. Then from the OEM console select navigator from the menu bar, and then discover nodes. Next enter the name of your server. OEM will attempt to contact the intelligent agent on that server in order to get the database information.

You might want to take a look at the docs: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10500_01/server.920/a96533/statspac.htm#21708
Note:
It is not correct to specify begin and end snapshots where the begin snapshot and end snapshot were taken from different instance startups. In other words, the instance must not have been shutdown between the times that the begin and end snapshots were taken.
At the first part of the report the database id is given. Do a select * from STATS$DATABASE_INSTANCE and verify that the DBID present matches the database/instance you are attempting to run the reprot upon. The report should be ran from the same instance in which the snapshots were taken. -
Starting instance in idle mode (10gR2 on Windows Vista)
Hi!
I was wondering how I can initially start an Oracle instance in idle mode. Currently, I can only open the database, then connect as sys with sqlplus and shutdown the database.
Here's what I do:
1.) Start the TNS Windows service.
2.) Start the "OracleService<SID>" Windows service. Otherwise I can't even connect with sqlplus, but starting this service buts the database in open mode already.
3.) Connect with sqlplus and execute shutdown.
Is there a way to start the "OracleService<SID>" Windows service but keeping the instance in idle mode directly?
Thanks for your help,
Marcus
Edited by: MMarcus on Nov 20, 2008 10:16 AMHi Marcus
Please be informed of that (source is from the great Burleson site, thanks guys!)
check the Win service:
Open the registry with regedit. Always back up the registry before making changes. Navigate to the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\oracle_home_name.
There will be a key called:
ORA_SID_AUTOSTART. SID is your database SID.
This key should be set to TRUE. If not the server starts but does not start the database. There is also an ORA_SID_SHUTDOWN which you want to be TRUE so that if the server is shut down the service will shutdown the database.
If you want to manually start the database set ORA_SID_AUTOSTART to FALSE. The service will start but not the database.
You can manage the windows service with oradim
Please read that for much more information :
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/win.102/b14304/create.htm#i1006533
Hope this helps you. -

</device>Hello,
I'm facing exactly the same problem, that is:
a Cisco SIP Phone 9971 won't register on CME 8.6 running on a 2811
I have read all the postings to this Forum, but I have not been able to solve it.
In my case the commands voice register dn and voice register pool are OK.
So frankly, I have no idea what I could be missing.
I'm pasting the Router's config.
I hope somebody is able to point me in the right direction.
Here is the config. Thank you!

Cannot install windows, starting to get really pissed off with this PLEASE HELP
ok, i'm starting to get agitated with this.
i cannot install windows XP, 2003, OR Longhorn on my machine.
right now, i have the following setup:
msi 865pe neo2 motherboard
intel p4 3.2ghz w/HT (factory HS/Fan currently)
1 dimm of PC3200 crucial DDR400
30GB maxtor HD plugged into primary IDE
pioneer dvd/cd drive as sencondary IDE
alps 3.5" floppy drive
antec true blue 480wt PSU
i do the following:
format with maxtor cd
boot from OS cd
start setup, reboot, continue
the farthest i can get is 'registering components/completing installation' i either get a blue screen stop error which isnt the same everytime, or it just locks up and doesnt do anything.
ran the memtest checker and get errors on test #4
i had a DIMM of kingston that gave the same errors, so i RMA'd it and got another. same errors, so i RMA'd again and got a Crucial stick. same errors.
so i RMA'd the motherboard since i figured it had to be that. and it improved from the problems i had earlier. (the problems i had before were worse before.)

yea, i dont plan to run the 250. im gonna wait for the new 480.
thanks for the info about ram timings as well. i havnt gotten any solid answers about what to set it to.
even with new mobo and ram, i'm getting errors in memtest86 #4 test as i always have. i've tried different slots with same problems.
i only have one module because i dont want to waste anymore money on a non-working system. once i get it up and running i'll add another 512. -

With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:

5 days old iPhone 5 iOS 6.1.4 battery life please help
My phone is 5 days old and i am so fed up with battery life. I disabled all data settings and location services and i have nothing in notification center for any push notification. But still i lost 40% of the battery in half a day with just 5 mins of voice call and 15 mins of texting. Phone was idle the rest of the time and when i used i had brightness at around just 10-15% this is my first iPhone and totally disappointed as i saw battery to last a full day of normal usage in the internet. I am totally fed up with apple. What should i do now ? I am a student and invested an year's savings of mine to get this phone. I am totally fed up. Someone please help me.
You have to tell us what your usage pattern is like, what your reception/signal strength is, and what network type you are using (E/3G/4G/LTE)
To note, the more the screen is on (in long intervals 2+ minutes) the shorter the battery life is.
Streaming music over 3G will last 6 hours if the screen stays off for most of that time.
Email, messages, web browsing will last most of the day.
Since you have GSM, your phone should last 10 hours with light usage. -
Please can somebody help me with this.
i cannot get any mouse or keyboard input on my login screen after bootcamping windows 7 pro.
i used a correctly formatted drive for the driver downloads, they seemed to install but now i have no input method to login to wondows7.
all is fine in osx apple wireless mouse keyboard magicpad ok
windows cant login due to no input devices.
have connected logitech mouse keyboard still nothing.
please help!
thanks in advance1. I have tried copying the Keyboard/Trackpad/Mouse drivers to the $WinPEDriver$ directory with mixed success on a 2012 MBP.
2. My experience is based on a 2013 rMBP. You may be able to use an Apple USB Keypad/Mouse to better success.
3. See http://www.macworld.com/article/2460820/macbook-pro-mid-2014-review-minor-update -offers-slightly-better-cpu-performance.html for HW differences between the two machines.
4. If you have access to a 2013 rMBP, I can suggest trying to build the USB on that and working with the USB to see if you can make it install Windows. the rMBP 2014 and rMBP 2013 have the same HW, except some CPU changes. You can also try building the USB at the nearest Apple store, if possible.
5. There is a section in AutoUnattend.xml, which is supposed to install all drivers in $WinPEDriver$ (see this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2686316 )

Regards,
PreetiPreeti,
As sumit suggested you try to fix the R12 error, else raise a SR with support and get fixed.
Btw, Re: Regd JDEV set up .. error running default toolbox.jsp page
is the thread you discussed about the R12 issue?
Check the following, it may add some value for fixing your issue.
1) Can you run the following URL in your R12 instance,
http://<hostname>:<port>/OA_HTML/jsp/fnd/aoljtest.jsp
and do the testings and see any error you are getting related to Guest user.
2) Check the password for the Guest user,
and use the same in the following query
select fnd_web_sec.validate_login('GUEST','<PASSWORD FROM DBC FILE>') from dual;
This should return "Y', If it returns "N', you need to change the password for GUESTin the database
(More details check the metalink note - 458064.1)
3) Are you able to login in your instance and access the pages without any error?
Thanks.
With Regards,
Kali.

This printer is an oldie but a goodie, and I don't want to buy a new one, just because I upgraded to Windows7 Pro 64 bit. I tried the Unviersal Driver, then the Post Script version, which is better than PCL6, but still not perfect like it was with XP

Is it possible to replicate this in Motion 4?
