Instance Types (for subscription package)

Hey guys,
how can I find out which instance types (i.e. how many instaces of which type/size) I need for a specific solution? Without having purchased the subscription package yet I am not able to see this. For example, I don't know which instances I need (minimum!) for the SAP ERP EHP7 on HANA SP6. This means I can't estimate which costs will be charged by AWS... and this means I can't make a decision to buy the subscription package.
You should really publish a list of supported instance types...?
Kind Regards,
Fabian

Hi Fabian,
every solution in CAL comes with a recommended instance type/size which has proven to be suitable for the generic use case. However, every user has different requirements so a smaller or larger size might work as well.
I just worked through the documentation that is already available for the various solutions both on SAP Store as well as on SAP CAL when you click on User Guide. Only some of the User Guides provide the information you ask for.
Therefore I've just worked through all solutions of the subscription package and these are the recommended instances sizes for the solutions of the subscription package:
IDES ERP 6.0 incl. EHP6: m1.xlarge
SAP BPM and Operational Process Intelligence on SAP HANA: m2.4xlarge
SAP CRM rapid-deployment solution - Landscape with ERP integration: 2x m1.xlarge
SAP CRM rapid-deployment solution for sales, marketing, and service (based on EhP2 for SAP CRM 7.0): m2.2xlarge
SAP enhancement package 7 for SAP ERP 6.0 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP6: (did not find, need to check. very likely around cr1.8xlarge)
SAP ERP 6.0: m1.xlarge
SAP ERP Foundation Extension: 1x cr1.8xlarge, 1x m1.xlarge, 1x m1.large
SAP HANA data mart discovery offer: 1x m2.4xlarge, 1x m1.xlarge
SAP HANA, platform edition 1.0 Rev 72 (HVM): cr1.8xlarge
SAP HANA, platform edition 1.0 Rev 72 (paravirtual): m2.4xlarge
SAP Kanban Process rapid-deployment solution: m2.2xlarge
SAP Mobile Apps and Infrastructure rapid-deployment solution incl. SAP Fiori: 1x m2.2xlarge, 1x m1.xlarge
SAP NetWeaver 7.4 Enterprise Portal on MaxDB: m1.large
SAP NetWeaver 7.4 usage type BI Java: m1.large
SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP 7.4 SP5 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP7: m2.4xlarge
SAP Supply Chain Management 7.0: m1.xlarge
Hope this helps. Let me know if this answers your question and don't hesitate.

  • Valid instance type for this instalation optiion are SCS, ER2, j2eedi, J2

Hello . I want to install a NW7.3 based BI system. I found reccomendation to start with ABAP instance an then start of Java central server installation
However I have checked option BI Java and additionaly I had EP, AS, EPC, and BASIC.
however on next screen I am asked about SAP system ID(I entered the ABAP installed one  i.e. BI4)
However this gets recognized that BI4 is already existing after ABAP.
SAP system BI4 exists and is not suitable for this installation option. DIAGNOS: Valid instance type for this instalation optiion are SCS, ER2, j2eedi, J2eeci , but instance ASCS01 has different type
Solution: Choose a different SAP system ID or unistall the existing one
    What to do?
Thank you in advace for help

    Hello
Now when I have suceesfully installed both (java @abap systems) I wander how to connect them.
I red somewhere I should establish a JCO connection but I wander where
I found new netweawer administrator http://<host>:5<sysnr>00
JCO can be established via http://<host>:5<sysnr>00->configuration->infrastructure->JCO RFC provider.
But which programID to use and..
Is there somewhere some guide how to build BI out of this 2 (java @abap) systems. I only during java instalation entered users to get user communication  between java@abap

  • AWS Instance Types for SAP HANA Developer Edition

According to the SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud Appliance Library, the recommended (and only) AWS instance type for running SAP HANA Developer Edition 1.0 SPS08 is m2.4xlarge; however, according to Amazon, this is a previous generation instance type.  Per Amazon's upgrade path, the current generation upgrade from M2 is R3.
In addition, the m2.4xlarge instance type is costly for those who would like to expand their personal training experience beyond the free developer account on the HANA Cloud Platform.
Will the R3 instance types (specifically r3.large or r3.xlarge) be made available for running SAP HANA Developer Edition?

Also want to know this and this thread has the same question Support for AWS EC2 R3 instance type?

  • I have moved from the UK to Canada and would like to pay for subscriptions in Canadian dollars rather than sterling pounds. Also I would like to take up the offer that I have purchase CS packages in my account. How do I go about this?

I have moved from the UK to Canada and would like to pay for subscriptions in Canadian dollars rather than sterling pounds. Also I would like to take up Creative Cloud subscription offer because I qualified as a prior purchaser of CS packages.
How do I go about this?

I did that - nothing happen... I have changed my adobe ID and all address to my Canada home.
Having log myself out and re-log back in to start the Creative Cloud subscription. The payment still shows in Sterling Pounds.
This is difficult as I am no longer earning Sterling pounds as a wage and the subscription would automatically be doubled payment, because Canadian $ is less in currency exchange to the UK Sterling Pound.
Thanks for your above suggestions, but what should I do now, to resolved this issue.

  • Urgent:Material Type for Packaging Material in WM and MM

    Hi
There is a place in SPRO where i can define the material type for packaging.
Logistics - General -> Handling Unit Management -> Basics -> Define Packaging Material Types
How can i create a material using this material type? What is the use of material type here?
Whenever i create material in MM01/MM41, i get the standard material type list.
    Thanks & REgards
    Kapil

    Hi,
In T.code: OMS2, you can get standard material type list.VERP is the standard material type for packing material. You can copy VERP and rename to ur material type( as it is ur business requriement or else u can use same VERP)
What is the use of material type here?
With the help of ur Material Type , u can craete material like The material type, will be used while defining the material
master. At that time,in Tcode:MM01,first screen we need to
mention,(material type)it show the nature of material
    ex:-engineering product,finished products,semifinished
    product,etc.,
It also play vital role on material numbering, material type in comination with plant & valuation class, play vital role in inventory & accoputning.
    To Create Material,use t. Code: MM01,
    Step-1
Enter Material Code: ( example-Polythene Bag, If External Number Range or leave it blnak)
    Enter Industry Sector: ...................
    Enter Material Type: ..........................(VERP- Packing)
    Step-2
    Select
Views you required( like eample:basic data-1, like basic data-2,purachsing, purchase order text,General plant data, accounting-1, accounting-2 etc)
    Step-3
    Enter Plant,
    Enter Storage location
    {{{Enter Sales organization & Distribution channel(if sales view selected)}}}
    Step-4
You will have views like (example-1, basic data, enter Base unit of measure, material group and other details as required field,example-2,Accounting data, enter valuation class, price control; S or V & price)
    Step-5
    Save.
Note: Before creation material you must know which Industry Sector, Material Type ur going to use and material numbering is internal or external.

  • Material type for Vendors Returnable packaging material

    Dear all,
I have a scenario where in i am recieving co2 gas from my vendor against a PO.
He is supplying it with cylinders i want to keep track of the cylinders and afetr using the gas want to return the cylinder to vendor.
Now the doubt arises, under which material type should I create this cylinder.
    Doubt 1
I thougt of creating under the material type : LEIH, but this material type also contains the purchasing, accounting, sales view and same time in the config of the material type LEIH, value updating is not ticked, which is making me confuse.
    Doubt 2
What I felt is, LEIH should be used for the our owns company returnable packaging material , which will go to the customer , but again for this also, these material should be valuated, since they belongs to our own stock , so why in standard SAP, value updation is not there.
    Doubt 3
Keeping above 2 points in mind, what should be material type for vendor's returnable packaging material , where I want only qty tracking.
    Regards
    Nitin

You can copy LEIH and create your own Materia Type say ZLEI. For this material type you can have only General Plant / Storage Data1 view enabled.
Remember, there are 2 materials here:
    1. Gas
    2. Returnable packaging (cylinder)
You can receive gas on unit basis if you dont want exact tracking (ie in KG). Use any procurement material type.
When you create the PO only mainitan Gas as the material.
When you do the goods receipt against this PO, Click on RTP button, this will create a new line item, automatically and will suggest movement type 501+M. Here enter the no. of cylinders.
You will be able to track the movement of cylinders.

  • We look now for a suitable condition type "deposit for loaned packaging"

    Hi,
            Following is my client reuirement,
We buy a lot of raw materials in loaned packaging (drums or IBC). The
vendors are invoicing the packaging as an extra item on their invoice.
Weeks or months later when we return the packaging to them we get a
    credit note.
We look now for a suitable condition type "deposit for loaned packaging"
which refers to account 631010 and we can use in the purchase order.
Can you create such a type ?
Please any one tell me whether it is possible? If yes, then which way?
    Regards,

    Hi Ajinkya1788 ,
you can use a condition like FRB1 with a provision account key for your 631010
or set up a valuation class to determine that account.
You might want to check empties management documentation in help.sap.com
    best regards,

  • Hmm - reason for installing package...

    All,
I'm not sure if this issue has been brought up before, but I want to get some feedback about a pacman idea that I had.
pacman -Qi lets you see dependencies for installed packages.  It helps you see why you installed a package.  Super helpful.  But it doesn't show everything.
Sometimes you've installed a package because there was an install-time recommendation for another package.  Or perhaps I was writing a python program and tried out a library, but then later used a different library and so the library is still installed, but not being used.  In cases like these, there may be no clean way to hook up an installed package with the "reason" it was installed.
My idea is to have some type of flag on pacman where I can record the reason I'm installing a package (or group of package).  Then that reason will be stored for when I run pacman -Qi later on.  It can just be a one-line piece of text.  No need for anything fancy.
pacman -S python-sqlobject --reason "trying this for project blah"
It might also be helpful to have a flag where you can set the "reason" on a package after it's already been installed.
pacman -Q python-sqlobject --reason "trying this for project blah"
    Then, later:
    > pacman -Qi python-sqlobject

    instances, and columns as attributes
Reason : trying this for project blah
I envision this being extremely helpful when cleaning up and administering packages on my system (for me personally).
Can anyone see the benefit of this?  Has this already been brought up?  Are there simpler solutions people are already using? ...

I actually think this is a pretty good idea, but I'm not sure how many would use it.  I often run across packages on my system and don't remember installing them even though pacman says I did it explicitly

  • SP 2013 Workflow Associations - get the content type for associated tasks with PowerShell

I am creating a PowerShell script to document SharePoint 2013 workflow associations on a site. I can get the Subscription object for the workflow association, but I can't figure out how to dig into it to find out the Content Type for tasks generated
by workflows created by this WF association. I can get the Task List ID from the Subscription.PropertyDefinitions, and from there can get the Task List. But the task list may use many different content types, because when you associate a 2013 workflow
to a list, SharePoint adds the workflow's content type to the set of content types used by the workflow task list. If you have a lot of workflows that use the same task list, that task list gets a lot of content types.
I have the Subscription object for the workflow association. How can I divine the content type for tasks that the workflow will generate?
    Leigh Webber

I would suggest you to consider using the SPListItem that running the workflow instance to check the task content type.
First, find the list item that associated with the workflow, then SPListItem.Tasks returns a collection of workflow tasks for the item, you can check the content type from the task item.

  • How to differentiate a packing type for Finished goods based on which customer will be invoiced ?

    I need a little expertise
The requirement for my organization is Certain Finish goods packing.
Currently certain, Finished goods packaging items when send to Customer, is charged for the packaging items like Pallets , Q- Bit Boxes.
There will be a deposit fee which will appear on the customer invoice.
Moving forward they want to eliminate that deposit fee, from the customer invoice for a few of the packaging types.. (For example Pallet we would still charge the customer the same way AS_IS today but for another pack type Q-BIT boxes customer should not be charged as a deposit fee for returing the pack type.)
From Materials management perspective… At the time of order entry how do we differentiate a particular pack type so that for that a particular Pack type customer is not charged anything…
2 options I am thinking is introduce a new characteristics in Classification view for PK type.. Upon entering the order the User exit will check the characteristic in material master and customer invoice won’t be charged for the Packing item if Pack type = Q Bit..
Other one is  From the  Alternate Unit of Measure translation to Common Unit of measure / Sales Unit of measure.
Which one would you recommend ?
    Pls advise.

    Hi Joe,
What I was suggesting was to have different material codes per pack size. If this is done, you will not need to modify anything, other than maintain condition types for the correct material codes.
In case you are leaning towards the classification approach, I will suggest having a custom calculation type added to include  RV64ANNN with a check of the characteristic on a custom table. In this table, maintain the pack sizes with should be charged. The logic should turn  XKOMV-KBETR = 0 if the pack size is not found in the table.

  • Source port type for BPELProcess does not match target port type for EJB

    Hi gurus,
I have a problem with calling EJBs from a 11.1.1.3 composite. The following summarizes the issue:
    - there are several EJBs within the same package deployed on a WLS server.
    - these beans have method names that are the same, for example create(), delete() etc.
    - using the EJB Service Adapter I have created 3 References, one for each of the 3 beans I need to invoke in a BPEL process.
    - each bean is imported into the project with their own *.wsdl *Ref.wsdl files.
    - each wsdl imports a namespace based on the java package name
    - now i have 3 wsdls, importing the same namespace and namespace conflicts arise.
At this point I'm thinking, 'no problem, just change the namespaces manually'
    - whenever i try to change the namespace that JDev gives the Reference components I end up with the compilation error:
Source port type for "BPELProcess" does not match target port type for "EJBRef"
It seems that the namespace must be the same as the package name, even though I resolved all the references to the new namespaces and ensure they all match.
The problem appears to be in the BPELProcess.componentType file.
    <reference name="HelloEJBRef" ui:wsdlLocation="HelloEJBRef.wsdl">
    <interface.wsdl interface="http://package.workspace.com/HelloEJB#wsdl.interface(HelloEJB)"/>

  • Add-on step types for TestStand?

I am almost certainly reinventing some wheels with Teststand by creating some basic test types.
For example, I just wrote a custom step type for taking an analog measurement from a DAQmx instrument. Surely someone has done this before, and surely someone will want to do it again. There's nothing proprietary about code that simple, and I'd be happy to give it away if there was a place to post it.
    Two questions:
    1. Is there an open-source repository for sharing custom step types?
    2. Are there add-ons for purchase with canned step types beyond those which come with TestStand?
    -Arthur

    Hi Jigg,
I looked at Averna.com, and I don't see any add-ins available on their website. It looks like they offer services mostly.
It's a good point about TS projects being so varied and customized. However, if custom step types are well architected, as the built-in step types are, then they ought to be reusable by others.
You're right also that I can accomplish my DAQmx steps easily using an Action step with the LV adapter. My motivation for the custom step is to improve the interface for setting up such an action. In particular, when using an IO channel in TS, I have to manually type in a text string for the DeviceName value, whereas I'd like to choose from a list of global names (e.g. with the global channel list control in LV). I can get this affect by using an Enum in a wrapper VI, which maps to an array of channel constants; but this is fragile if the available channels are changed (e.g. added, removed or renamed in MAX).
Additionally, a custom step type is better than a step template for my purposes, because I can propagate changes in the step type to instances of steps throughout the test. This is incredibly valuable to me during development and debugging. It saves me time when I want to update a step that I've used many times throughout a test sequence. Although TS isn't itself a programming language, I find that I expect it to share certain traits with programming languages to facilitate development, such as type abstractions and a strict enforcement of congruency between types and instances. But I digress....
    Thanks for your suggestions.

    •     Q: What character encoding is supported by the SOAP sender adapter?
A: The SOAP sender adapter can accept any character encoding supported by the local JDK. When you are using a particular character encoding with content type text/xml, you must make sure that the encoding name given in the content type and in the XML declaration must be consistent. What makes this more complex is that the default values. The default encoding for "text/xml" is US-ASCII, whereas the default encoding for the XML declaration is UTF-8 or UTF-16. The following examples show several valid combinations of content-type and XML declartion:
               text/xml
               <?xml version='1.0' encoding='us-ascii'?>
               text/xml; charset='utf-8'
               <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>
               text/xml; charset='utf-8'
               no declaration
               text/xml; charset='iso-8859-1'
               <?xml version='1.0' encoding='iso-8859-1'?>
               application/xml
               <?xml version='1.0' encoding='iso-8859-1'?>
The response message from the SOAP sender is normally encoded in UTF-8. If you want to change this encoding, for instance to iso-8859-1, you can supply the encoding information with the xmlenc variable in the request URL as in:
               http://host:port /XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?channel=p:s:c&xmlenc=iso-8859-1
