Instant client 11.1.0.7.0 for win32

I've been told by the folks on metalink that the new version of instant client for windows (which I hope has support for Pro*C apps) is due for imminent release but they can't be date specific, as the OTN and support are two entirely different functions (don't they talk to one another?)
Does anyone here know when it'll be available for download?

When will there be updated packages for Solaris on x86/x64 systems,
or is this platform not supported anymore?Good question, and one we would like to know.
Due to Oracle's redicoulus NDA for new release versions no one within Oracle seems to be able to tell us, which as a customer we find unresonable. We were told last year, about this time that we should expect a 11gR1 release around Oracleworld. That came and went. Again we asked, and were told that it "might" be comming out as a 11gR2 version.
Fine. We will renew our support agreement when we know you will support our platform.

  • Download old Instant Client Version 10.1.0.4 for Linux

    Hi to all,
the downloads for version 10.1.0.4 of Oracle Instant Client
for linux seem to be not available anymore.
Where can I download the packages:
    instantclient-basic-linux32-10.1.0.4-20050525.zip and
    instantclient-sdk-linux32-10.1.0.4-20050525.zip ?
    Thanks

for OWB metadata, run this following script
    <OWB_HOME>/owb/reposasst/upg/upg10gTo10104.sql
    For runtime data
    <OWB_HOME>/owb/bin/unix/RT_upgrade_to_10_1
This is only if it's NOT upgrading to 10gR2 database
If you are upgrading to Oracle10g Release 2 with partial export and
import and if you are changing the database instance or the computer
hosting the database, then run the migration script:
    – For UNIX, navigate to OWB_HOME/owb/bin/unix and run
    RT_migrate_to_10_1.sh.
The RT_migrate_to_10_1.sh prompts you for several parameters:
the User Name and Password of your original Runtime Repository
schema, the database connection string for your original Runtime
Repository (in the form of host:port:servicename), the User Name
and Password for your new Runtime Repository schema (whose values
should match the original Runtime Repository), and the database
connection string for the new Runtime Repository (also in the form of
host:port:servicename). Additionally, as it runs, the script prompts
you for SYS User Names and Passwords for the Oracle Database
instances for any Target Schemas and Oracle Workflows being upgraded.

  • Instant Client 10.1.0.3 available for most platforms

Instant Client 10.1.0.3 is available for many platforms. Click through to specific platforms on the Instant Client website to see availability. We will try to release the rest of the platforms over the next few weeks, but may be delayed due to holidays in the US.
A notable change in 10.1.0.3 is the availability of the SDK package. These are the header files needed for compiling applications with the Instant Client only (in lieu of using an full Oracle client). There is a demonstration makefile in the package.
Documentation will be released shortly. However, if you are already familiar with developing with Oracle, you should not have any problems.
Another change is the unzipped directory of the packages that includes a X.Y version (10.1.0.3 is in instantclient10_1). This is purely a sanity check to make sure that your unzipped versions will overwrite a patchset of the same major release (the usual intention), but not of a different major release (such as a 10.2.0.1). We hope this helps everyone.
    Good luck! Hope everyone enjoys!

The new instant client looks promising on SuSE 9.2.
You need to rework some things, though.
    1. setup the dynamic linker:
    - add a line "/usr/lib/oracle/10.1.0.2/client/lib" to the file /etc/ld.so.conf
    - then run ldconfig
    2. create or copy a tnsnames.ora file:
    - cd /usr/lib/oracle/10.1.0.2
    - md -p network/admin
    - copy a tnsnames.ora from somewhere to network/admin/tnsnames.ora
    3. add some environment: edit /etc/boot.local
    - add a line: export ORACLE_HOME=/usr/lib/oracle/10.1.0.2
    - add a line: export TNS_ADMIN=$ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
    - add a line: ORACLE_SID=(some TNS name)
    4. add another link for convinience
    - cd /usr/lib/oracle/10.1.0.2
    - ln -s client/lib .
in order to have the so-files also at $ORACLE_HOME/lib which is rather often used in Java-Parameters "-Djava.library.path", for example in JBoss run.sh Scripts.

  • Problem new instant client 10.2.0.3 basic lite win32

I use the instant client 10.2.0.2 on a w2k/IIS5 machine with no problems at all.
I used "instantclient-basiclite-win32-10.2.0.2-20060508.zip", followed the instructions and it works fine. I use in an ASP page a connection string to use with OLE DB (Provider=MSDAORA; etc. etc)
    On a second machine i downloaded a newer version 10.2.0.3. (instantclient-basiclite-win32-10.2.0.3-20061115.zip)
As described i followed the same instructions but it would not work. When i use the older on on the new machine it works perfect.
Back to the new version, i got this error:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle
    2147467259
Oracle client and networking components were not found. etc. etc.
    I came to the following:
In the ORACLE_HOME folder (in my situation: C:\Oracle\instantclient_10_2)
I have added the following files to the Bin folder, i got those files from the 10g client cd.
    \Bin
    oracore10.dll
    oranls10.dll
    oraunls10.dll
    orauts.dll
After that i got a new error:
"Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle
Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-01019"
Then i added the foloowing files to ORACLE_HOME:
    \rdbms\mesg
    oraus.msb
    The error became clearer:
"Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle
ORA-01019: unable to allocate memory in the user side"
    I added more:
    \oracore\zoneinfo
    timezlrg.dat
    timezone.dat
Finally i got it to work. I don't know why the instant client is behaving like this. The 10.2.0.2 version cannot be downloaded anymore.
Has someone experienced the same problem? I just want to work with the package as it was downloaded from Oracle, i doubt it was intended to add files from different version. I learned with filemon, regmon and depends from sysinternals that de instantclient looks for other files that arent in de instant client package. Probaly it does not need al the file to work. I have read that when using the file: \rdbms\mesg\oraus.msb can lead to serious performance problems, as it looks for the file many times when quering. I guess this file is only for explenation of errors.
This file can be left out, it work without it.
I hope someone can help me.

For what it is worth, I am having a similar problem with an application I support. When I upgraded from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.3 to fix a performance problem, we now have this connection problem. If I can not get a good solution for the InstantClient I will have to start using the Full 10.2.0.3 Client and I am not looking forward to deploying that.

  • Will Instant Client 10.2.0.1 be available for Solaris 32-bit (SPARC)?

The latest Instant Client release is currently not available for Solaris Sparc 32-bit.
Does anyone know when it will be available?
    Thank you.

    It is available now.

  • When Instant Client for AIX 5L 32 and HP-UX PA-RISC 32 are released?

Does anyone know when Instant Client for AIX 5L 32 might be release?
    and also, Instant Client for HP-UX PA-RISC 32 ?

There isn't much to check. This is the Instant Client and it was downloaded specifically for the 32-bit PA-RISC platform. The "documentation" simply says I should set the "LD_LIBRARY_PATH" environment variable to include the directory where I unzipped the files. It is obviously looking at the libraries when I load my application, otherwise I would get a different type of error message along the lines of "missing Oracle client". FYI, This is not one of the newer 8x00 chips which support 64-bit addressing, but that is the point of the 32-bit option. I assumed this was compiled for my platform (which more specifically is an HP PA-RISC 7300LC 160MHz processor with 768MB RAM). I know this isn't the most modern box, but I would like to have a simple lab environment for my ERP application and save the hassle and additional expense of aquiring a 64-bit compatible workstation. I figure what I have works well with my application, and there is no 9i 32-bit client...so why not try the 10g Instant Client which should be backwards compatible with my database. BTW, the database is not running on this box, it's on a remote server which does support 64-bit and happens to be running Oracle 9.2.0.4.

  • Instant Client 11 g R 2 for SunSolaris SPARC 64

I have a customer that would really like to know when will Instant Client 11g R2 will be available for SunSolaris SPARC 64, because so far it is only available for Linux.
For any piece of information, I will be immensely thankful.
Thank you and have a great day.

    Hi Helios,
    Thank you for your help.
What I notice is that Oracle Database 11gr2 release schedule for SPARC was on November 9, 2010. But when you download Instant Client and select the one for that specific platform (Sun Solaris Sparc), it is only available in 11.1, not 11.2.
Do you know who can be contacted about this?
    Thank you!

  • ORACLE 10 INSTANT CLIENT:The procedure entry point OCILobRead2 could not...

    The problem still remain:
I've installed oracle 10g instant client
    SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.3.0 - Production on Wed Jan 10 12:43:40 20
    PHP VERSION: php-5.2.0 for Win32
    APACHE VERSION: apache_2.0.59 for WIN32
But I've the same old error when I try to restart Apache:
The procedure entry point OCILobRead2 could not be located in the dinamic link library OCI.dll
Is there anyone who can help me to solve this kind of problem?
    Thanks in advance.

The solution is that you need to have Oracle 10g client side libraries
installed (or you have to recompile PHP yourself). The oci8 extension
has some version dependent code and the person who builds Windows PHP
builds it with the latest version of Oracle. I was discussing the
impact of this just this week.
Luckily Oracle Instant Client can be downloaded and used for free from
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/oci/instantclient/index.html

  • Solaris PHP 5.2.12 Oracle Instant Client Error

We are testing a Oracle Solaris Express 11 Server with the standard Apache and PHP installation. But we need the Oracle Instant client and the oci8 module enabled for our company applications.
We did this by using ./pecl install oci8 in /usr/php/5.2/bin. We set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH in /etc/apache2/2.2/envvars
a 32bits solaris (x86) version of the Oracle Instant Client 11.2 is installed in /opt/oracle/instantclient_11_2 with the symbolic link made.
    envvars:
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/oracle/instantclient_11_2
    ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/instantclient_11_2
    ORACLE_BASE=/opt/oracle/instantclient_11_2
he oci8 module installed and php loads it.
    phpinfo(); output:
    oci8
    OCI8 Support enabled
    Version 1.4.6
    Revision $Revision: 313688 $
    Active Persistent Connections 0
    Active Connections 0
Oracle Run-time Client Library Version 11.2.0.2.0
    Oracle Instant Client Version 11.2
    Temporary Lob support enabled
When we first view a site there is no problem but very randomly we get the following error:
OCIEnvNlsCreate() failed. There is something wrong with your system - please check that LD_LIBRARY_PATH includes the directory with Oracle Instant Client libraries*
but when we use echo getenv("LD_LIBRARY_PATH"); in php the output is "/opt/oracle/instantclient_11_2"
now the strange this is as randomly as it appears it disappears we can load the web-page without problems and after a couple of clicks the error is back. if we wait a coupe of seconds you can reload the page and it loads normaly.
The error appears to be random and we get it over and over agian, it comes and goes after a cpl of pages are viewed. It seems to appear more when there are multiple users browsing on the website.
Is there a fix for this? is this an known bug? It seems strange the instant client works some times and fails a second later without a change in the system.
    Hope someone can help us.

Solved it by compiling apache 2.2.20 into 64bits using:
    CFLAGS="-m64" CXXFLAGS="-m64" LDFLAGS="-m64" ./configure enable-so enable-cgi enable-info enable-rewrite enable-deflate enable-ssl
and compiling php 5.3.8 into 64bits:
    CFLAGS="-m64" CXXFLAGS="-m64" LDFLAGS="-m64" ./configure with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs with-gd with-zlib disable-ipv6 with-jpeg-dir=/usr/ with-png-dir=/usr/ with-freetype-dir=/usr/ with-pear with-openssl with-oci8=instantclient,/opt/oracle/instantclient_10_2
and using the 10.2.0.4 instant client.
there might be a bug in the 11.x ones, they dont seem to work on Oracle Solaris 11.

  • Instant client installation unavailable in ODBC data sources

I'm trying to install instant client to enable MS Excel to access an Oracle database. OS is Windows 7.
After installing instant client plus the odbc package, I can't see a new entry in the odbc data sources - only the standard Microsoft sources (Excel, Access, SQL Server) show up.
There's also an Oracle SQL developer installation on my computer. Connection to the database works fine in SQL developer - so the DB does exist and it is accessible.
Steps conducted during instant client installation:
    - Downloaded basic lite instant client (11.2.0.3.0) for windows.x64
    - Downloaded odbc package for windows.x64
    - unpacked zip file to instantclient directory
    - executed the odbc_install.exe in the instantclient directory. I'm not sure if this install.exe does anything at all. There was no error message but also no confirmation or reaction of any kind.
    - executing the install file from the cmd window gave me a message, that the odbc drivers were already installed. So I guess odbc_install.exe was executed properly
    - setting some system variables
         1) path variable: added instantclient directory to the ones already listed in path
         2) tns_admin: new entry, pointing to instantclient directory
         3) ld_library_path: new entry, pointing to instantclient directory
    - wrote an tnsnames.ora file using the connect information also used in SQL developer
    - saved tnsnames.ora file in instantclient directory
    - rebooted computer to activate changes
When opening the odbc data source administration, I'm only able to see Microsoft drivers for Access, Excel, SQL Server. I'd expect to get an Oracle driver option to add to the installed drivers.
Wild & uneducated guesses about what might cause the problem:
    - IC is installed on E: drive. Maybe some component is expected to be saved on C: (low likelihood, many others would have complained by now)
    - Win 7 often asks for explicit permission to do this or that via popup windows. Maybe the odbc-component encounters such a request ans says "Ummm....???"
Any idea, what I might try to get an oracle entry in the odbc data source list?
    Best regards
    Peter

I'm not sure to be honest, but what I downloaded did not have a setup.exe.
Does what you're talking about allow you to connect to Oracle databases via ODBC? If so, is it downloadble from the Oracle site?

  • Unix ODBC and Oracle Instant Client

When I dowloaded Oracle 11 Instant client the the zip file does not contain the libsqlora.so.11.1 file. the odbc_update_ini file contains reference to it. I am trying to configure ODBC on HP UX Pa Risc to use the Instant Client. I have downloaded the UnixODBC driver manager from UnixODBC.org. But I can't seem to figure out how to hook up Oracle 11 Instant Client. Everything I have searched for indicates that libsqlora.so.11.1 is required for the driver manager to work. Who develops this, is it Oracle, is it UnixODBC.org? Do I need to use an older version of Oracle Instanct Client?
Thank you in advance for any help.

is it "libsq.." or "libsql.."? Did you check odbc.zip? "libsqora.so.11.1" suppose to be part of odbc.zip. From which location you have downloaded? because in my install location I can see that "libsqora.so.11.1" is part of odbc.zip file and same has been referred by odbc_update_ini file. Download fresh tar(odbc.zip) and recheck!

  • Instant Client to connect to Oracle 8i

Does anyone know where I can download a version of Instant Client that is compatible with Oracle Server 8i (8.1.7.0). The only download I can find is for 11.1 and that's not compatible.
All I'm trying to do is setup some OLE DB data sources in SSIS to pull Oracle 8i data into sql server 2005, but getting a little bit more than I bargined for...
    Thanks

    Here
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/oci/instantclient/htdocs/winsoft.html
you can find Instant Client 10.1 and 10.2 for Windows.
These can be used to access Oracle 8.1.7.4, but they do not include an OLE DB provider.
If you want to use OLE DB to access an Oracle 8 server, you'll have to install the regular client (10.2 optimally).

  • Triying to intall oracle instant client

    Hi Buddies;
I have to install oracle instant client in linux5 Red hat Enterprise.
I got to create the next:
Instant Client Package - Basic and Instant Client Package - SQL*Plus unzip it and make sqlplus runnable from anywhere ( set new PATH or copy to defined PATH) and test SQLPLUS sqlplus user/passwd@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(Host=IP or hostname)(Port=port))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=sid)))
Is the first time I doing this; So I proceed to download the following files:
    instantclient-basic-linux32-10.2.0.3-20061115.zip
    oracle-instantclient-basic-10.2.0.3-1.i386.rpm
I unzipped the firt one and now I got a new directory (instantclient_10_2) whi these files:
    -rwxrwxr-x 1 root root 72480394 Nov 15 2006 libociei.so
    -rwxrwxr-x 1 root root 67053 Nov 15 2006 genezi

    -r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 120135 Nov 15 2006 libocijdbc10.so
My doubt is, which of them to execute?
And what I have to do with file oracle-instantclient-basic-10.2.0.3-1.i386.rpm?
Besides, I don't see anything related with sqlplus, and I understand I need that.
May be this is something simple, but I not sure what to do.
    Could somebody help me ?
    Thanks and best Regards;
    Al

At first try to check the Instant Client download page again: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/oci/instantclient/htdocs/linuxsoft.html
As you can see there are several categories of packages and description for these packages.
Instant Client Package - Basic: All files required to run OCI, OCCI, and JDBC-OCI applications
Instant Client Package - Basic Lite: Smaller version of the Basic, with only English error messages and Unicode, ASCII, and
Instant Client Package - JDBC Supplement: Additional support for XA, Internationalization, and RowSet operations under JDBC
Instant Client Package - SQL*Plus: Additional libraries and executable for running SQL*Plus with Instant Client
Instant Client Package - SDK: Additional header files and an example makefile for developing Oracle applications with Instant
Instant Client Package - ODBC: Additional libraries for enabling ODBC applications
Instant Client Package - WRC: Workload Replay Client used to replay workload for RAT's DB Replay Feature
You need to download those packages which are required for your application (for example).
Packages are provided in two versions. ZIP and RPM (for Redhat Package Manager).
You don't need to download both of versions. You can choose only one - ZIP or RPM, it depends on you.
Now you said, you need to use SQLPLUS.
1.So, you need to download these two packages (assume that you are running 32bit Linux):
    instantclient-basic-linux32-10.2.0.3-20061115.zip
instantclient-sqlplus-linux32-10.2.0.3-20061115.zip2. Unzip these packages and you will see new directory named instantclient_10_2
    3. Place this directory where you want (i.e to /opt directory)
mv instantclient_10_2 /opt/4. set the environment (still using /opt directory)
    export PATH=/opt/instantclient_10_2:$PATH
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/opt/instantclient_10_2Note: To make this settings permanent put this commands to shell profile file (i.e.: For bash it is .bash_profile file) in user's directory or to /etc/profile file to make this settings global for any user.
    5. Tnsnames file. By default TNS settings is searched in these directories and in order as follows:
/home/<current user>/.tnsnames.ora (Note the dot in .tnsnames.ora in this case)
    /etc/tnsnames.ora
/<path to directory where the instant client directory is located>/instantclient_10_2/network/admin/tnsnames.ora (in our case it's the /opt directory)
    Hope that helps.
