Instant Ink Page Count is Wrong

I just printed 6 pages today and the HP Connected website shows that I printed 8 pages. Why the difference?

Hello @billmcbride ,
Welcome to the HP forum.
I understand you have a page count dispute with your instant ink service.
I would like to help.
Do you normally keep your printer turned off?
If the printer is only turned on when you are printing, it might not make the connection to the servers.
Lets say  you turned the printer on and printed two pages, then powered the unit off, those pages might not get counted.
Then when you turn the printer on to print, and it does make the connection, those two pages will be added with the rest.
This is why it is recommended that the printer be left on.
If you do leave the printer on, goto your instant ink account.
Scroll down the page and click on print history.
check and see if those two pages are from a previous day.
If things still do not add up, call the Instant Ink people.
To clarify, they are HP's Cloud Services department.
They will be able to investigate.
I am sure they would like to know if something is not working properly with the program.

  • IBooks Author seems to have stopped counting words at a bit under 20,000.  Page count is wrong too.  Anyone else seen this or know what's wrong?

I believe I'm updated to the latest version of iBooks Author, and have crossed over 20,000 words on my book, and it seems to be stuck at 19,267 words.  My page count is up to 91 but iBooks Author says 85 (that one is easier to verify, but word count simply isn't moving at this point.  I browsed a bit but didn't find the issue reported elsewhere.  Is there perhaps an option I'm missing or something?  It seemed to be just fine, and when I got things transferred from Pages the word count was at least similar to what it was so I think it's been working.

Fabe, thanks for asking clarifying questions. Inspector in iBooks Author tells me there are 85 pages, and the page count next to the thumbnails tells me a different number, saying the last page is 91.  That is not including front matter so, yes, there are more pages.  In fact, many more since there is a quite a bit more white space in the iBooks version.  As for word count and being able to enter more text, I really didn't notice that the word count was not changing until I had checked back several times and noticed it hadn't crossed over 20,000 words and then noticed that the number looked awfully familiar.  In my case, it certainly seems to be stuck at 19.267 words, and I don't see any other negative effects.

  • Instant ink wrong cartridge

I tried to change my cartridge today---with my first package from Instant Ink.  Alas, they sent me the incorrect cartridge for my printer. What can I do????I will need to go out and buy a new cartridge on my own; I hate the thought of going to the post office because HP screwed up.  Do I have any options here? My original cartridge that came with the printer says 61 on it; the Instant Ink cartridge is a bit bigger and says 61/301. OK!  So I got HP to send me a link to the video about installation and it works.Issue Resolved.

Hi,Unfortnetly there is very little you can do apart from let Hp know and see what they can do. Please try contacting Hp on the numbers here simply explain your issue and they should be able to help you out, and get the write cartridge. hope you get it sorted James

Signing up and getting started with HP Instant Ink
Note: your printer must be connected to the Internet through a wireless connection.

Ink, shipping, and cartridge recycling are included.

When you enroll in an HP Instant Ink plan, you pay a monthly fee to print a defined number of pages per month. The plans are based on the number of pages that you print, not on how many ink cartridges you use. Your monthly fee pays for ink, shipping, and recycling. If you do not print all of your plan pages in a month, you can roll over up to the number of pages per month in your plan. If you print more pages, there is an additional charge. Ink is included — the plans are based on your usage so you pay for the pages you print, not the ink cartridges HP sends you. A printed page counts the same whether it is black and white, a color document, or a photo. Shipping is included.

  • Page Count Missing From Print Job Status Window

When I print a multi-page document from TextEdit or AppleWorks, the Print Status window does not show the page count. Instead it always shows "Sheet 1 of 1".
Both TextEdit and AppleWorks show the document as having four pages. A print preview from AppleWorks confirms the document does have four pages. Yet when the document is printed the Print Status window continues to show only "Sheet 1 of 1" with no indication that the document actually has a total of four pages. Nor does it show which pages is currently printing.
I am running Mac OS X 10.5.8. If I recall correctly, previous versions of Mac OS X showed both the total page count and the currently printing page number, which incremented as the job printed. As it is, there is no way to know the progress of a large print job.
    Any idea what is wrong?
    Thanks.

Could some check their print status window while a job is printing? Does it always show "Sheet 1 of 1" or does it show the page count that increments as the job prints?
    Thanks.

  • UPDATED!!!!!!!!!!!!! Instant Ink billing question

Just thought I'd update this and let ya all know how wonderful HP customer service is! Well, it's 12 days later and I;m STILL waiting to get this resolved! Guess what? It's just a matter of giving me an additional 50 pages that they billed me for or refunding the two dollar overcharge!
Would you believe that I've talked to no less than 4 people on the phone, I've had to email screen shots (which prove I'm right, by the way) ALL OVER A FREAKING TWO DOLLARS! This is seriously EFFED UP folks! As soon as I get this resolved (of course saying soon and resolved in the same sentence when refering to HP Service is just plain ole funny) I plan to cancel my sub and run as fast as I can from HP service and products.
I really need a new computer and have decided that it WILL NOT be an HP now. THEY'VE LOST A CUSTOMER OVER $2.00!!!!!!! This lack of CS IS CRAZY!!!!!
Just wondering who to contact about a billing error for the Instant Ink program. I changed the plan before the billing cycle and was charged for the 100 page plan again, but my page history is showing the 50 page plan.
I can not find a contact number for billing issues ANYWHERE and the online chat is not available.
Am I forced to dispute the charge with my bank and cancel the Instant Ink sub just to get some help?
    And yes, I'm pissed off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Is there any "skip page count" command for last page?

    Hello,
May I know if there is a command(such as even-skip-page-count) specifically for the document last page?
I have a requirement where PO/Invoice T&C should be printed at the back of the last page only.
The blog of Tim (http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/2007/10/here_are_my_terms_conditions.html) covers
    only odd/even printing.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rownald

    nagornyi is correct.
i will just expand a bit on the use but it can be found in the documentation.
you will need to add a section break to the last page of your report
and also remember to add the header information of you report.
I may be wrong but when I left the header info out it was not printing.
header information goes above the tags and footer(totals and stuff like that) below the tags

  • Resetting Page count

I have a document that explains step by step procedures for a software program. It's all contained within one indd file. First half is for employees, second half is for managers. I have setup on my master page a page x out of x using variable text. The problem that I am having is that I need to reset the page counts for the manager section to begin at 1 instead of a continuation from the employee section since when I export it to PDF I create two separate documents.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Fernando

Someone will jump in and correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe there is a variable available for section page counts. Why not do this as two documents? If necessary you can combine them in a book.

  • How do I turn of the "Connect printer to update HP Instant Ink status" message?

I initially signed up for the HP Connected program but had to discontinue when I lost my internet connection. The Wi-Fi still works. I replaced my Instant Ink cartridges with the appropriate new non-Instant Ink HP ink cartriges. The printer works, but before each job prints I have to walk over to the printer the touch screen and depress the "OK" button to remove a warning message which state: "Connect printer to update HP Instant Ink status." How do I turn off this message so that I can print without having to respond each and every time? In addition to replacing the original Instant Ink cartridges, I have done "hard" printer restarts (with off and on switch),  tried restoring the factory settings via the touch screen system settings, turned off the internet connectivity and turned off all the Alert Settings in the HP Utility. Help!

Hello , Welcome to the HP Forums, and thanks so much for posting!  I'd like to help you with the message you are getting on your HP officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One printer to connect to the Instant Ink server.  What it sounds like, is that there have been pages printed since the printer last connected to the HP Instant Ink server. If you cancelled your account AFTER the printer's last connection to the internet, the printer would have no idea that the account has been cancelled. I'd recommend contacting our Cloud Services support at 1-855-785-2777 for further assistance. Hope this helps!

  • Privacy; TOS for Instant Ink and HP connected

I just signed up to HP Connected, then started to sign up for Instant Ink.  The 4-page TOS document really requires a lawyer's skill to understand what part of my life I would be signing over to HP.  Why does HP need to track the details of what is printed?  This is an unacceptable invasion of my privacy.  I have printed the document.  I intend to have a lawyer look it over so I can confirm my understanding.  Then I will give it to the sales persons in the store where I bought my printer so they can become informed about the program.  They were woefully ignorant, as was I.
Question: Why do you need the data?

I have decided that HP's reach into my privacy is too invasive.  I want to cancel my hp connected account and ensure that all the personal information I entered on creating that account is purged.  How can I do  that?  After having done that how can I be assured that the information is in fact purged?

  • Can't enroll in instant ink

New ENVY4500e.  Connected to computer thru USB.  Can't enroll in instant ink according to support because I am not connected wirelessly!  Seems like an HP software deficiency to me!

    Hello AngryMike,
I can understand your frustrations, I really can. Not only does the printer need to be connected to a wireless network, it also needs to have an Internet connection for Instant Ink to work.
With out the printer having a direct connection to the Internet the information regarding the inks can not tallied to keep track of the number of printed pages. I am sure that HP researched the means of tallying the printed pages for some time prior to deciding to use an active Internet connection over a software connected method.
To view all the requirements for HP Instant Ink: What Are the Enrollment Requirements for HP Instant Ink?.
The printer would still be able to have a USB connection to the computer you want to use connection to the computer, the wireless Internet connection is only needed to allow the printed pages to be tallied.

  • Color cartridge page count

Why does my color cartridge page count go from 70-75 to zero when I am only printing black?

Please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model?   When printing graphics color ink is typically used instead of black to provide finer detail.  Color ink is also used to keep the printheads from clogging as described in this page.
