Instant Messaging Alert help?!?

Well, I logged onto my AIM account on my Centro, so that worked out fine, just checking to see if people were online (since I have unlimited internet) so I logged out. Now when I chat using my computer I get AIM alerts saying I received a new messaging even though I'm not logged in (on my cell), its costing me about 10 cents every alert I get. Anyone got any clue how to fix this? I thought it was an AIM issue on AOL's site, but its not since I have no mobile set up on there. I don't know what's up, I can no longer use my AIM account because of the 10 cents every message I receive.

It's most likely an AIM setting that is incorrect out in the real world, not the Centros you keep getting!
Something has been set to send alerts to your phone from AIM. I'd recheck all the advice given you above by Ridius, and contact AOL if necessary for help!

Instant message alert

Hello,
I am trying to create a HTML Db application which uses 'instant messaging'.
What I would like the database to do is when certain actions take place (e.g. A users submits a document or amends a document or deletes a document from a table), I would like to be able to send an alert out to certain groups of people (dependant on the action that has taken place). The recipients would see a popup box on their screen which would inform them of what has taken place and provide a link to the HTML Db application.
Is this possible in HTML Db?
Any help much appreciated.

If I understand you right, you want to be able to send out an instant message instead of an email from HTMLDB. To send an email HTMLDB leverages the database SMTP client implementation and the SMTP protocol. Database exposes the SMTP client API to HTMLDB as a PL/SQL procedure (UTL_SMTP). There is no UTL_IM. So the solution to your problem lies in creating your own stored procedure in the database to send an IM.
I know each vendor had a proprietary protocol for instant messaging. You cannot add AOL or MSN messenger users into your yahoo messenger or vice versa !! (Pardon my ignorance if this is not true). Now a days I see third party instant messengers like ICQ that seem to work with MSN, yahoo, etc - I have not use one myself - which suggests that it is worth an effort to find more about the protocols. Once you have the information you can use UTL_TCP/external procedure/java procedure in the database to create a stored procedure to send IM.
Somebody had suggested using windows net send or unix wall. That can be implemented as external proc, saving you the time to research IM, but it will not work well in a mixed environment (unix servers and windows desktop).
In short HTMLDB email feature is a wrapper around database UTL_SMTP. Database does not have any IM client implementation. You will have to create your own.

I can't find the new text message alerts for every person - help!

As I frequently check the Apple website, I visited the iOS 4.2 download site. It said that you get custom text tones and 17 new sounds.
So I updated to get the new things. But then I checked Settings to see the new alerts and what they sounded like. But I only found the same old Tri-tone, glass, horn, etc. There were no new ones.
So I checked Phone, but there was no custom text message alert option.
Am I the only one experiencing this problem? I have an 8 month old iPhone 3GS and it works great.
I am also suspecting that it could be an iPhone 4-only deal.Which would be ridiculous because I would be really upset to see that Apple only cares about the people who cash in their hard-earned bucks on every new Apple gizmo they set eyes on.

I understand that it has been answered and has been said that it is for the iPhone 4 only; however, on their website it does not specify that, this is exactly what it states:
"Messaging with text tones
Know who’s texting without looking at your screen. Choose from 17 new alerts and assign custom tones for people in your contact list.
iPhone only."
If I am not mistaken, "iPhone only" includes every iPhone generation to which 4.2 can be installed in, not just the iPhone 4. If it is in case for the 4 only, then they should have specified and not made a misleading advertisement about it since every iPhone user has been waiting for new tones of any sort since the first iPhone ever came out. Making it available for only iPhone 4 users is a very fowl move from Apple since it's such a basic thing to the phone itself. They should address the issue correctly and make it available for the 3G and 3GS.
Apple just asked for angry customers with this one and they definitely know it's not fair.

HELP: can connect to FB, TWITTER, MySPACE, BBM and other instant messaging but not to youtube and other sites

I'm just a newbie. I got my Curve 9220 a month ago. The phone is really good but i have some problems regarding my about phone. You see i can access my social sites and application and can be done in my web browser but strangely i can't connect to other sites except those mentioned sites. I can use my bbm and some instant messaging applications (YM, Gtalk etc) but unfortunately not my bb app world.
By the way my carrier is globe, I have called them about this matter, they told me they have fix it but until now nothing happens. It's frustrating you know?
Is there a way that I could do it manually by my self? Or should I call them again until they have got my problem fixed?
Additionally, its odd because I can't even go to thier mobile website. How this could happen when I'm not restricted to access my social site?

Command Line Instant Messaging Program Developing Help

Does anybody know a good tutorial for developing instant messaging programs?Or has anybody developed a similiar program like MIRC using java?
If u have any ideas please help me.

There are quite a few java implementations for irc out there. Take a peek at sourceforge.net and search for Java IRC, that should get you started. This is a quite complex matter, so please get a first overview and get back with more detailed questions.

Help! Email envelope message alert wont go away

The envelope shows message alert (2) and I have no email notifications but it wont go away. I tried taking out battery to reboot and its still there. Any suggestions?

From the Messages app hit the menu key and select View Folder and check all the folders. Then select "View Saved Messages" and check in there as well.

DId you download and Install the COMBO version of the last Update that you did ?
iChat on the Install Disk is likely to be several versions behind where your OS has been Updated to.
It needs to Match the OS level.
iChat Updates come in the OS Updates.
You need to run the Updater manually as Software Updates keeps records of what it has done and thinks iChat is up to date.
If you are on Snow Leopard then the COMBO version of 10.6.7 is here
If you are on Leopard then the COMBO for 10.5.8 is here
Googling Mac OS X 10.x.x COMBO where x.x is the version you are up to will generally find the link to the right page if you are at a different OS version.

Instant Messaging chat box does not open...Please help

We are trying to get the instant messaging work. When I clicked on send instant message on the username a blank window opens and nothing can be performed on it. (Normally a chat box appearing...but not anymore)

We have RTC and CLP enabled in the tool area of the default framework.
I have checked all type of configuration applicable for RTC but nothing changed.

Can you make sure you do not have more than one Mail.app on your computer? and maybe are trying to launch the old Mail version?
Also, the path on your report shows that your applications folder is on your desktop. Is that true or do you have more than one Applications folder? DId you move your App folder to the desktop?
Go to spotlight and search for Mail.app to see if you have more than one on that computer, if so locate them and get info from each to see which version is which.
let me know what you find.

Can anyone help me set up Instant Messaging on N95...

It might sound elementary to some of you but I cannot for the life of me get the Instant messaging to work on my N95 - I don't know at all how to get it in sync with my MSN Messenger account.
Is there anyone that could help? I'm afraid I don't know anything about proxy settings, servers, etc - so I need either a step by step guide or something idiot proof.
I have an unlocked, unbranded N95 with a T-Mobile SIM (Web 'n' Walk Plus enabled, which allows IM)
Hope someone could help.

To sign into MSN you need to supply the client with login gateway of "gateway.messenger.hotmail.com".
Or you can go and get AgileMessenger from www.agilemobile.com...much nicer application. Costs but its worth it.

E71X instant messaging access??? help!

Was wondering if anyone can help!!
I got given the new E71x at&t phone whilst in the states and now i am back in the UK I want to use the instant messaging feature but it keeps saying i need to contact my service provider. So, contacted O2 who said apparantly i need to download some blackberry type software which will give me a pin which i then give to then for them to activate that service on my contract.
I have searched far and wide on both the nokia and at&t website for such said software and cannot find it.. Everything else on the phone works fine it is just this little thing which isnt! I have downloaded the Nokia PC Suite and the Nokia Software Updater application onto my PC but when i connect the phone with a USB to the Nokia Software Updater it doesnt recognise it....is this because it is a relatively new phone....
Can anyone please please please please help!!!!

If you are looking for an IM Client, try fring (http://www.fring.com/). This is so much better than the one ATT packaged. Also it is free and can be used as a VOIP phone too.. give it a try by going to m.fring.com from your phone.

Instant Messaging HIDDEN in the Help folder on N86...

I have just found the IM (instant messaging) application in the Help folder on the N86. The odd thing is that it is not an "application" per se. In the help folder, one searches for "instant"; then a collection of Instant Message help topics appear. By clicking any one, following by clicking the "IM" icon, the application is launched. One can create an identity, select a server, user name, etc. Hence, one can use the phone for instant messaging. But there is no application from which to launch this in the 'Application' folder. Nor is there any documentation in the extended users' manual that is located at Nokia website or the manual bundled with the phone: at least I cannot find any documentation. Has anyone discovered this? If so, am I missing something?
