  • Re: IM(instant Messaging) for N70

    good day!
    i need help...
does anyone know what to do to enable the function of IM (instant messaging)for N70?
when i try to to open it, it ask me to define a server,
it is asking to fill up the following:
    1. server name:
    2. access point:
    3. web address:
    4. user id:
    5. password:
i do not know what to provide on 1 to 3.
can any one help me about this matter?
    thank you!
    looking forward for your response
    respectfully yours,
    mark palma

The IM application in the N70 connects only to IM services implementing the, so called, Wireless Village IM specification by OMA (Open Mobile Alliance).
The only service I know that supports it is http://www.yamigo.com
However, your network operator could also be running a compatible service, so call them and ask for the settings (or check their web site).
The IM app cannot be used to connect directly to MSN, Yahoo!, AOL or ICQ (as they have their own IM protocols/mechanisms, and are not using Wireless Village IM). If you want to connect to those IM services, you need to find some other IM app to install on your phone (Agile Messenger, IM+, etc.).

Since IM is firmware it must be somewhere. Did you check all other folders for IM? Reset the phone or update with Nokia Software Updater. There are alternatives like Fring. Download with OVI store. You can find IM there too.

  • Collaboration instant messaging for Online Customer chat

    Hi Experts,
We have the following requirement in portal.
Portal has to be exposed to internet and customers of the organization should be able to use the portal and chat with the employees who are currently logged in portal. This chat conversation should also be saved - either in portal KM or exported to a file or both.
I'm thinking of using Portal Collaboration's Instant Messaging feature for this, but not sure whether it will be enabled for anonymous users accessing portal from outside.
Please clarify and also pour in your ideas on the possible ways to achive this requirement in portal.
    Thanks in advance,
    Vijay.K

    Hi Vijay,
Portal Collaboration feature can be utilized. Along with that you can also explore using third party collaboration tools

  • Firmware 6.90 for Nokia 7230

I have Nokia 7230 on O2. I've seen that firmware 6.90 is available (currently running 5.71). I am unable to download this firmware using Software Updater or from the phone itself. Where can I obtain this latest firmware update?

Nokia just deleted from this topic the related problems with this firmware 9.83. This is why I've decided to buy another phone, from another company. This is probably the best thing anyone can do when the Testing Dep. from Nokia has no responsability.
I try again to tell the problems with this firmware:
    1. restore from backup - not available (error: the restore must be done on the same phone model where the backup was created...)
    2. Contacts, Messages, Calendar modules from OVI suite or PC Suite don't recognize the phone.
    3. Imposible to sync contacts
    4. Browser is not starting
    5. Calculator app simply dissapear
    6. No themes available.
    And so on...

  • Instant messaging for businesses

I am trying to figure out if this would work for me... don't like that there is no customer service via the phone.
For starters, we ar ea medical practice with multiple locations. Main office works from desktop while the other locations work through remote connections to the server. Will this work with a remote connection to the server to some locations. Will in pop-up on the screen?
We only need instant messaging, no calls at all...
what does that cost? How do we trial it?

Hi, Jdiaz.pbec, and welcome to the Community,
I love Skype's instant messaging capacities - simple, clean, uncluttered, and no cost whatsoever!  If your office is not using Skype to place calls, I do not see any reason to start a Skype Manager configuration.  Regardless, Skype-to-Skype calls are also free of charge.
All of the participants need to:
Create their own new Skype accounts: http://www.skype.com/en/what-is-skype/
    Download the Skype software onto their computers;
Send contact invitations to each other, and start instant messaging.  Here is an FAQ article which explains the process:  https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA3281/adding-contacts-windows-desktop    The same FAQ articles are available for Mac users and Linux users, as well.
Here is a link to the library of information articles related to instant messaging: https://support.skype.com/en/category/INSTANT_MESSAGING_WITH_SKYPE/
I would also recommend everyone take at least a cursory run through these user guides which will help the team get up-to-speed quickly.
If everyone did decide to use Skype to talk with each other, remember at least an on-board microphone and speakers (or a headset) would be needed.  Most webcam's include a microphone, as well, but if you are in a medical office there could be occasions patient confidentiality would need to be maintained; hence why I suggested a headset.
    Best regards,
    Elaine

  • What happen with the IM messaging for nokia N8???

nokia can you tell me if you have plans to create a IM client for nokia n8, I bougth this device because I saw the demo and watch IM for this.
I don't want use nimbuzz or third party client please do something. or give me information if I hac still waiting for this aplication.
this is the video that was talking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fN-4hUGYcOw&feature=player_embedded
    regards,

I am surprised, disappointed, upset, frustrated...... to see Nokia doing nothing.  Isn't it so natural to have this function nowaday?  What's more, my Social Networks is totally disappeared in my N8.  I send emails, phone calls to HK staffs... but still with no answer.
You know what, people who use N8 in Hong Kong nowadays becomes idiots. Even worse after the news of dumping Symbian.  I saw some guys selling their N8 to China at big discounts or hiding their "flagship smartphone" in their pockets.
Wake up Nokia! I think you can do much better than this.

  • Instant Message for Due bill like MSN new person online alert

    Hi all
Its there is any way that we received message like we received message in MSN when new friend online ?
I want a message for due Receiving amount its there is any way ?
    Regards
    Shahzaib ismail

Well, in my application, i've developed the similar logic using timer in my logic screen.
I allow user to enter username, password and database in my login screen.
I've created a text box also in the login screen.
I use this screen to display dynamic message as the time elapses.
For e.g i give 10 sec for user to enter username or any value.
If he doesn't enter the username in that time, i display message in the text box as time remaining 10 sec and then time remaining 9 sec etc like a clock.
But, the moment user enters something this message disappears.
So, i think, your requirement is also the same.
My method is not very fancy like that of msn but it works very well in my forms.
    Hope it helps.

  • Cannot receive mail in nokia messaging for Nokia ...

cannot received mail in nokia messaging in all my account i can send mail but cannot  received mails in my nokia e72.

    Hi barara,
Welcome to the Nokia forum and thank you for your post.
Please go to your email settings in your phone and make sure that the POP3 settings are configured correctly. Use a search engine to find the correct configuration for your email server.
If the email configuration is correct and you're unable to receive emails, please contact your local Care line and ask them to check your Nokia Messaging account.
Every email account you set up on your phone is linked to your own Nokia Messaging account. Your Care line will be able to check the account and assist you with any issues you're having in case the above hasn't resolved the problem. All you need is your IMEI, which you can find by entering *#06# into your phone.
Hope this helps, please keep me updated on your progress.

  • REALLY ANNOYING!! Nokia Messaging for Nokia E72

    Hello,
I like my new E72. Just had it last Friday. But something VERY VERY VERY annoying happen with my email service from Nokia Messaging. My Nokia E51 has Nokia messaging service, but somehow all of sudden it stops and won't work again. This time my E72 has a very active (if not HYPERACTIVE) Nokia messaging email service. It keeps downloading an email, randomly, not consecutively by date, and suddenly all emails disappear, and being downloaded again, and disappear again, and downloaded again......(neverending). I don't know what happen, is this because of my E72 or nokia messaging. It's been 3 days, and I got VERY disturbed by this. No matter whether you have read the email or reply one email, it keeps received as a new email.
WHAT HAPPEN?? does anyone experience the same problem with me? any suggestion? any solution?
One more thing, can the setting be changed from IMAP to POP3? I did that with my previous E51, and it works well. But it seems that there are no option for this in E72. Help anyone? Desperately needed.
    Thank you.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Forgive me for finding your 'hyperactive' Nokia Messaging amusing, I'm sure it isn't in the least. Concerning the POP/IMAP, I altered my provider email settings to POP only because it too was confusing Nokia Mail and Email on 3, and me! I then removed the accounts on the phone and set them up again and didn't have to do anything different, and then it worked just fine and still pushes emails no problem.
One of the email services I have uses gmail (in some way or other) to handle its email transport and this seemed to cause a lot of bother certainly when IMAP was activated, even though I don't use gmail at all

  • Message For Nokia!

Nokia.... What are you thinking, a locked Booklet 3G? The only reason why I stay with your product is because they are all unlocked.

This is a user to user forum. Your message here may not be read by Nokia and you certainly won't get a reply from them here. If you wish to contact Nokia, you should use the "Contact us" tab to the top right of this screen.

  • PROBLEMS IN J2ME IN RECEIVING SIP MESSAGES IN NOKIA E60

    Hello guys!
I'm currently developing an instant messaging for sip messages in the NOKIA E60 platform.

    Hey!
    1. Nokia hides some folders containing system stuff, so that you don't accidentally delete something and mess things up. The computer sees more of them and can count them in, so...
    2. It happens because your wallpapers are stored on the Mass storage/ Memory Card drive... And if you connect your phone to the computer, it won't be able to read any files on E/F drives as the computer acceses them.
    3. They are! You just have to scroll down the list that pops up when you click on the widget
    4. Try this one: to snooze an alarm, turn the phone on the other side, so that the scrren faces the table- it will shut up!
    5. Nope, they're usable straight away
    6. Don't really see what you mean... You want the messaging app shortcut to open up with folders (outbox, inbox, stuff like that?) I'm afraid it's not possible You'll have to access them via the options menu

  • Sun ONE Instant Messaging relation to Sun ONE Portal Server

Sun ONE Instant Messaging is tightly integrated with the Sun ONE Portal Server. Sun ONE Instant Messaging provides a portlet or channel that displays a list of a given user's online buddies and also provides the capability to archive chat and other forms of IM Communications within the portal server search database. Hence, chat, alerts, news channels and more can be archived and searched using the Search capabilities of the portal server. Indeed, Sun ONE Instant Messaging is a value-added offereng to the core Sun ONE Portal Server.
It should also be mentioned that Sun ONE Instant Messaging integrates with the Sun ONE Portal Server in other ways. Since the portal server provides a web container, the IM deployment can naturally use the web server provided by the portal server. The portal server also uses a directory server which can also be used by Sun ONE Instant Messaging for User and LDAP group search. Finally, Sun ONE Instant Messaging may also use the portal server's Identity Service to provide single sign-on with the portal server.

Yes, one can install Sun ONE Instant Messaging on a system that does not contain the Sun ONE Portal Server.
