Instant Movie Slideshow Templates

Pre8 comes with two Instant Movie templates for slideshows. One is Pan and Zoom and I believe the other is a wedding theme. I like usng the Instant Movie feature for slideshows but the selection in Pre8 is paltry. Does Pre9 come with additionals slideshow templates? Does anyone know where to go for good quality 3rd party Instant Movie slideshow templates?

Not really. Plus it varies from month to month, as they take down old templates and put up new.
In my experience, though, it's not been more than a handful of templates over the course of a year. But that may change also.
BTW, you do know that there are four different ways to build a slideshow in Premiere Elements, right? I go through them in one of my tutorials on this page on Muvipix.com.

Three of these are automatic or semi-automatic.
But if having a wide variety of fully automatic slideshow makers is a dealbreaker for you, I'd say you're better looking elsewhere. Sorry.

Not that I am aware of. The Themes/Instant Movies templates have always been the domain of PrE, but not PrPro, and that experience goes back to Pr 6.0.

Instant Movie Themes Download Error

I have just upgraded to PE11 and have a series of jpg images in a PE file that I was trying to create as a slideshow.
I have been using the expert view (although I cannot see that makes any difference) and thought I would try out the instant movie themes.
The Pan and Zoom theme works fine, but I cannot get any of the other themes to work. Selecting the theme and clicking the next button, PE11 shows the dialogue box in the attached image suggesting it is downloading content. BUT, it never finishes and just cycles around the download with the blue bar filling, clearing and then starting again. There is no error message, just a constant cycling of the blue bar.
Has anyone else come across this?

As you can see, the program will download the other themes as needed. That's what it's trying to do in the illustration you provided.
Have you registered the program and signed in with your Adobe ID?
Do you have a good, reliable internet connection?
If the answer to both of those questions is yes, you may have just caught the Adobe site offline. Try again. Depending on your internet speed, it can take a couple of minutes.

Modern Photo Slideshow template help, please...

Hi guys and gals... Happy Thanksgiving! Now, back to work,
right? Yikes!
First time questioner, and I think I've done my due diligence
on searches, etc, but...
I am getting back into Flash usage after a few years off, so
I am pretty rusty. I'm stepping on the
Modern Photo Slideshow template that comes with CS3, and am
almost done! I've resized, deconstructed the god-awful controller
down to something simple and elegant, added all my client's 27
images, set the publisher to play=true...
BUT, I can't seem to break the code: I'm trying to get it to
start in Autoplay=1 mode (play on download), but it keeps skipping
the first frame. I've tried quite a few very simple code tweaks,
like changing various zeroes to ones, but can't seem to find the
rosetta stone.
If I simply add a null frame to the beginning, so that image
1 is at frame 2, it goofs up the framecount, as well as the looping
elegance. I guess that would be fine, if I could figure out the
proper syntax for making the framecount display (i.e.: 1 of 27)
equal to framecount-1 to compensate for the null frame at the
beginning. However, that 's just a Big Hammer method of solving my
problem. Surely there is a more effective and proper way?
Summary: All I really want it to do is start in
autoplayStatus=1 without blowing past the first image.
Anyone know if this is a simple code tweak? I'm so close, I'd hate
to switch to a different template, as the client loves what I've
currently got.

Found the answer: when you double-click the mc, controller
sitting on the stage, there is a frame script that has about 58
lines of code. Sitting at the bottom is
autoplayStatus = 0;. When you set the value to 1 (one) and
test the movie, is starts in auto-play mode.

Best method to combine Instant Movie (Theme) with regular video?

I’m creating a video and I would like to use a theme for a slideshow, yet leave the rest of the video (first 16 minutes) alone. I currently have two separate projects, one with my regular video footage and one project with the instant movie theme. So, if there is a way to copy and paste one project into another that would be perfect, yet I have not seen that option. What is the best way to accomplish this? I was thinking I could export the instant movie and then add the media to my existing project, yet I’m not sure what format to use so I don’t lose quality. The video is AVCHD (1920 x 1024), and I would eventually like to burn everything to a Blue-ray disc when I get a burner, yet for now DVD will do. Thoughts?

I like the idea of doing everything in one project, yet I’m guessing I would have an issue with doing so since the video in the timeline has been edited and the video within the available media section is the raw video (I think that is correct). However, this should work great for the stills, yet I’m not sure about the video.
My main concern is torching the non-theme video by applying a theme…
To do what you are saying; would I simply select the images (hold down CTRL and select or smart tag them?) from the media selection screen within the interface and…?

Premiere Elements 11 instant movie content

In Pre 11, is all the instant movie templates included or do you have to have some kind of subscribtion to access them?

Starting with Premiere Elements 11, Content is from a download from within the program, no more Content disc for the boxed product. And, no more Internet link that you can go to from which to download Content.
Go to Action Bar/Instant Movie at the top of the Expert view interface or Instant Movie tab at the bottom of the interface.
Proceed with the instructions and when you get to a choice of Template, right click the blue ban at the top right corner of the thumbnail and opt to download just that template or all the templates. Depending on your Internet speed, it can take a long, long time. The download will automatically be placed in the correct location (Online Folder) on your computer hard drive.

PE12 Instant Movie Project Media Offline

I'm using PE12 and downloaded Outdoor Adventure template. Ran the instant movie and then in a couple places I found a red screen with "Media Offline" in about 15 different languages. The event log says problem with 3 PNG files but I verified the files exist in the Outdoor Adventure template folder. I deleted the template and downloaded again but still received same error.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Still get the error but I did save the project file and re-open. I had not previously saved the project. When I re-open I get the same red screen
This time the event "error" log has only 2 events and also a message popped up asking me to link the file "outdoor-adventure_s_texture.png"
I looked in the folder C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Premiere Elements\12.0\Online\Movie Themes\All_Lang\Event\Outdoor Adventure and the file was missing.
I copied the file "outdoor-adventure_texture.png" and just modified the name to "outdoor-adventure_s_texture.png" and the error message went away.
I downloaded the theme pack once, cleared it out, and re-downloaded. I guess that file is missing.

As to your thread question..not that I have ever run into. You can customize the Adobe Instant Movies by creating an Instant Movie and then using the Break Apart Instant Movie at the Timeline level to do just that and modify that just created Instant Movie as wanted.
There are no additional theme to purchase. And, the existing Instant Movie (Content Download type) for an Adobe design needs to be downloaded from within the program (See Instant Movie display of choices and thumbnail with blue ban at the top right corner of that thumbnail. Select Download Now (to obtain completed files for theme) or Download All (to obtain completed files for All Instant Movie theme choices).

Instant-Movie - hung?

I am making an instant movie. I added 129 clips (mostly very short - 15-30 seconds). It indicated that it was analyzing all of the files and now it is stuck (apparently) at 100% Analyzing Media for the last file. When I check Task Manager the program is not hung and I see the hard drive flickering every so often. It has been at this stage for about an hour or so. This is not the fastest PC - Pentium 4 3.2 GHz w/2 GB RAM. Is it possible it is still processing, and if so, is there some other way I can check to make sure it is not hung (such as tmp files changing or something)? Thanks.

Process Explorer is like task manager on steroids (so good that Microsoft bought the sysinternals company). If gives far more information about each process and you can drill down to get more info on those processes - this might give a better indication of whether or not PRE is still an active process.
But ... it's not the utility I meant to recommend (oops!). I meant to recommend Process Monitor. "Process Monitor is an advanced monitoring tool for Windows that shows real-time file system, Registry and process/thread activity". i.e. you can see what it's reading and writing and therefore if PRE is still writing files. How do I overcome the Failed Downloads for Instant Movies from the Adobe Server?

I have a Windows 8.1 PC , Premiere Elements ver. 12, and I have a dedicated DSL for computer only. In my best efforts, even when disabling McAfee completely, I have had almost 4 days of frustration trying to download an Instant Movie from the online content server. At times the DL works, slowly, then it pauses, sometimes the DL reverses the count and I lose 10mb and it resumes (I have never seen that before). Most frustrating is when the DL is nearly complete and the message pops up that I need to check my connection as the download has failed. I have 1.6TB disc space, and no restrictions in place at my end. I tried from 2 of the PCs, both Win 8.1. I have tried at all hours of the day for traffic on the server, but that doesn't seem to matter. I have attempted the Secret Agent file DL at best 10x. Is there a setting I need to change to receive this content, or go to a different site where I can directly access this content?
I have purchased Three PE 12 programs for 3 replacement PCs and I need some real direction.

There will be those that report Content download of a few minutes. Although we are happy for them, many have found that this is not usually the case. Download of the Premiere Elements 11 and 12 Content download is often a slow process which demands a lot of patience whether the download be "Download Now" or "Download All". Just two of the factors in this situation are the Internet Speed/Status and the status of the Adobe Server. Many times it is time of the day.

I have DSL Service on the east coast of the USA. It is now about 6 pm Saturday February 22, 2014.
I right clicked the blue ban at the top right corner of the Instant Movie thumbnail for the Secret Agent theme. I selected Download Now to download just that one Instant Movie theme.
a. The file size was given as 75.8 MB, not 118.7 MB. It took 11 minutes and 19 seconds to download that Instant Movie.
I checked the download on two different computers, one Windows 7 64 bit and the other Windows 8.1 64 bit. The Instant Movie Secret Agent had a file size of 75.8 MB according to the download pop up in the opened project.
b. If you are talking days for this download, then I would first check with your Internet provider. There is no other place for these downloads except from within the program. And, when you do get them, I would encourage you to save them as per my blog posts on this topic to avoid having to go through an labored downloading processes again.
Do you find the downloading of Content to be the same for all the other categories requiring this type of download, not just Instant Movies?

Add On...Although you did say that you disabled McAfee, be advised that McAfee's recent update(s) have created some serious problems for Premiere Elements. So, I would re-evaluate McAfee's possible role in all this along with the firewalls settings.

Will Apple TV be able to play Redbox Instant movies? Redbox Instant is a simular company to NetFlix in that you can rent movies (DVDs) or download available subscription content movies, but Redbox Instant is NOT simular to Amazon or Amazon Prime. Why is Apple TV favoring and partnering with Netflix versus Redbox?

Apple has made no announcement as to any relationship with Redbox. They may or may not be discussing a deal. However, and I may be mistaken, I believe Redbox has an exclusive deal with Verizon for this service, so this has nothing to do with Apple "favoring" anyone. It takes 2 to tango.
Also, there is an iOS app available for this that can easily be used to send an Airplay signal to the AppleTV from an iPad or iPhone.

Why does a .mov slideshow look much darker when played with idvd

I have created a .mov slideshow from iphoto. I now want to write it to a dvd using iDVD. When setting up the various dropzones the images look great. When I play the .mov in Quicktime, the images look great. When I preview the proposed DVD, all of the images look to contrasty / dark. Why is this and how can I fix it?

Again I repeat, in every other application, the images look the way they are meant to be.
Only in iDVD do they become "corrupted".
Anyone who has anything to do with digital imaging knows you should calibrate your monitors.
An industry standard calibrated environment is a must when dealing with a digital imaging environment.
iDVD is screwing up the images ad making them darker.
Quicktime isn't.
iPhoto isn't.
Photoshop isn't.
Capture One Pro isn't.
Adobe Bridge isn't.
Camera Raw isn't.
InDesign isn't.
Acrobat isn't.
I can list many more applications on both PCs and Macs that correctly display the images.
iDVD is the only one that screws them up!!!!!
Are you seriously suggesting that calibrating our monitors is the cause of iDVD displaying images incorrectly and different to all of the above mentioned software?

In APE 10 I cannot ADD MEDIA to an instant movie (still pics)

How do I change the settings to allow transfer of pic folder from Elements 10 to create an instant movie in APE 10? I continually get an error message that states the pics are too large in dimensions (width/height)?? Any directions would be appreciated.

Were the Still Images Scaled to match the Frame Size of the Project in PrE 10?
If not, Scale those overly-large Still Images.

How can I have a slideshow with various templates in the one show?

You mean have the slideshow start out with one slideshow template design and
then say 10 minutes in it changes to a different slideshow template?
No this can't be done. You might be able to combine two seperate pdf
slideshows generated in Lightroom using Adobe Acrobat. But, this can't be
done in Lightroom.
