Instantly restarts before loading Windows 7

Heya, I've been using Bootcamp fine and dandy for a few months now but yesterday I struck a problem. I installed new Windows 7 updates and restarted my computer (as normal) but when my Mac tried to boot into Windows I get a black screen with a white flashing "_" for a few seconds before it restarts again and it goes back to trying to continuously boot into Windows (this is fine as I set Bootcamp to automatically boot into Windows). If I left my Mac on all day it would try to boot into Windows, get to the black " _ " screen, restart, and repeat the process again. I can boot into Mac OSX fine and I can see the Windows 7 partition but it just keeps restarting before it even gets to the Windows 7 load screen.
Are there any suggestions as to how to fix this? I don't want to have to reinstall Windows, I'll lose all my awesome Sims 3 houses and it takes so long to install everything again. Thanks!

Hey Theoos..
Yeah, my version is not.. the first time i installed it was ok, but after 30 days it was asking for a key... then i installed a cracked version, and the cursor started blinking on start up, and took like 2 minutes...
I tested several cracks but with all of them happened the same.
Thanks

  • N580GTX Twin Frozr II/OC, Causing windows to restart before loading.

The topic kinda says a lot my N580GTX Twin Frozr II/OC is causing windows to restart. I did not originally have this problem however after a recent reformat I started to have windows crash on the loading screen giving me and error

However, after some testing on my own I discovered it was card and/or driver related to your card/driver. As when I start windows without a video driver ... it is fine every time. Yet once the driver is installed, bang, crash every time. The only time it did not crash was when it was updating windows, pre-SP1 on win7 ultimate. Which is some kind of wierd workaround the crash. Now it seems to be persistent and I do not plan to reinstall windows everyday kinda like I have had too the last couple days. Helps plz !!

Also could it be my Vbios is somehow corrupted or causing this as it always seems to happen when windows is booting up before I have access to my machine right when it would be accessing the vBios?
    Nope

Ok so if anyone ends up having this rediculously confusing problem like I did allow me to say, simply unplug your other monitors from your computer and then run the Nvidia driver software, works every time now. Only 1 monitor can be plugged in at one time while running the driver updates.

  • Mac keeps restarting before installing windows

I used bootcamp to make a partition of 200gb for windows, when i clicked install in bootcamp my mac restarted and started installing windows xp. When it is finished it again reboots. Than i cant choose between my windows or my mac partition and the whole installation which i already finished before starts over again...
After some research I saw people with the same problem, they just had to be patient when it says 'press any key to continue'. But when I do not even touch my keyboard it just go's on and installs windows again..
I as well tried to boot my OSX at the startup by holding the option key, this didn't seem to have any affect. I tried lots of different ways but it just does not work. I have the small wireless keyboard without the number pad on the side. I as well tried it with a USB windows keyboard...
So it would be awesome if someone could help me with or finnally correctly instal windows or that i just can start my normal Mac OSX system again.
Im sorry for my bad English, hope you understand what I'm trying to say.

XP is no longer supported. Some versions of XP SP3 would wipe out entire drives.
OS X Lion 10.7 only supports Windows 7 or later.
XP would be fine in virtual machine like Parallels or Fusion or VirtualBox

    Hi,
The 301 error code would indicate that the Hard Drive is failing and needs to be replaced.  This is also consistent with the start-up issue and is a pretty common occurence after a 'fall'..
If your notebook is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange to have the drive replaced - you can check your warranty status Here.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.
If you are out of warranty and would like a guide on replacing the Hard Drive yourself, please let me know.

  • Blue Screen of death - now can't load Windows (even in safe mode)

Last night laptop (Satellite L500 19Z; Win 7 64 bit) crashed whilst playing CIV4. Got a blue screen of death; before I had chance to read any of the error messages on it the machine rebooted.
It loaded windows in safe mode fine then, and informed me as it had loaded safe mode OK the problem will be related to some recently installed software and I should uninstall programs I'd installed until it would load normally. As it was late last night I shut down and thought I'd sort it in the morning (in retrospect this may have been a mistake ....).
Today, when the machine tries to boot up it attempts a Startup Repair; unfortunately this fails every time and it says "Startup repair has tried several times but still cannot detemine the cause of the problem"
I looked at the log it produces but it passes all the individual tests.
I also can't access the advanced options for system recovery & support, which appears on the Startup Repair dialog box as it demands I be logged in, which apparently I'm not (presumably as the machine never got to the windows login screen before trying the startup repair). The error message reads "you must be logged in to access system recovery options. If you are having trouble logging in please contact your computer administrator for assistance. please click OK to restart the computer."
I've had a go at booting into the various advanced options (safe mode, safe mode with command prompt etc. but the outcome is the same).
I also tried the Repair your Computer option from the advanced boot options screen, but after the screen where it asks you to choose the language and keyboard, I get the same login error mentioned above.
Is there a way to repair or even run the hard disk based windows recovery (haven't got the recovery DVD with me as I'm away from home for a couple weeks) without logging into windows? I would have expected there to be but have yet to figure out how to do it.
(there are no disks in the disk drive, no other devices attached to the laptop - I've tried it with mains power and with the battery and have not noticed any differences)
    Thanks
    James

Normaly the reinstall data is on a separate part on your HD, not in Windows.
The register is only used for Windows.
If it doesn't work you can always try to reinstall from a DVD later.
It does mean all your data on C:\ will be gone. If you can hook your HD on an other PC you can try to safe your work with a recover prog.

Safari won't open, just quits before loading. I'm on Yosimite and up to date.

    Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

  • Installing Windows 7 Using bootcamp 5.0 on MBPr OSX 10.8.2 Black Screen Not Loading Windows 7 Install on Boot

I am trying to install Windows 7 using Bootcamp Assistence 5.0 on a MacBook Pro Retina OSX 10.8.2, I went through all steps on Creatting the Windows 7.iso into a bootable USB Dirve 16GB I use a separate USB Drive 2 GB and download Windows Support Drivers Step 2 on bootcamp assistence. I run into the problem in step 3 when the computer reboot I just get a black screen the back display still on like I can still see the apple on the back lit up, but the screen is black and wont load the window installer, if i shut it down and bring it back up i get error saying IOS not found so then i have to shut it down, enter recovery and restart on osx partition, i can see that the bootcamp partition was created but cant load windows to it. Please can anybody help me or guide me on what i am doing wrong? thank you so much in advance

this will install as normal. before installing however you will need an activation key cos in win 7 this is one of the first pages that is presented before instalation.
the key from your relative could possibly work especially if he used your internet connection to register. but this could cause problems with his/your authenticity after 30 days.
the only other option is to purchase a key.
you say a 30 day trial, does it give you a temporary key for this?

  • Cannot load windows 7 through bootcamp

i have been trying to load windows 7 through bootcamp. but after the initial partition process, the screen goes blank with a cursor on the top left corner.
it does not come to life even after 4 hours.
i did not have any problem making the partition before. this is the first time i have had this issue.
    can anybody help?????

I just successfully installed Windows 8.1 Update 1 on BootCamp on Mac OS X Yosemite. Here is a step by step I just wrote, hope it helps y'all:
How to successfully install Windows 8, or above, on Mac OS X Mavericks or above:
    Requirements:
1- Windows OS ISO Image file
2- An 8GBs USB Flash Drive
3- A good Internet connection as you will need to download the Windows compatible drivers for your Mac
    Steps:
1- Open up Disk Utility and create an additional partition for Windows formatted as ExFat. 100GBs, or above, is recommended as update to the operating system, as well as Apps requiere space on your HD or SSD [This step can be done during Mac OS X's installation process]
    2- Open up BootCamp Assistant
3- Make sure only the 'Create a Windows 7 or later version install disk' is checked and your USB Flash Drive plugged in and click 'Continue'
4- Click 'Choose' and select your Windows ISO Image file
5- Select the USB Flash Drive you will be using during the installation process and click continue to confirm
6- Once done, restart your Mac and hold down the 'alt/option' key on your keyboard to bring up the Boot Menu
7- Select the USB Flash Drive named Windows, not the UEFI Boot
8- Install Windows as you normally would
    * Remember to press and hold the 'alt/option' key, and select the Windows Partition, whenever the installation process requires your Mac to restart

  • NEW HP Pavilion 500-205t CTO Desktop PCComputer not loading Windows 7

For a year and a half, I had an HP pc that wouldn't load Windows 7 properly.  I finally had enough and bought ANOTHER pc and it was delivered YESTERDAY.  After spending $500 on a new tower, but before I added my printer or loaded any of programs or favorites on it, I discovered that this PC has the same issue!!! Now, I'm even more frustrated than before.
If I leave the pc without shutting it down, and press on any key or move the mouse to wake it up later, the only thing I have is the desktop picture.  There are no icons, no way to do anything.  Using control/alt/delete just gives me a blank screen.
I have to shut down with the power button, hold in until the screen says it's going to sleep, then push the power button back on.  If I choose boot normally,it goes to the Windows logo screen, then it totally bypasses the "Welcome" screen (showing Windows Home Edition) and goes directly to the desktop.  No icons appear and I have to repeat the first couple of steps and choose boot in safe mode or safe mode with networking.  Then, I can shut down and restart and hold my breath until I see Windows 7 loading.
Originally, on my other pc, I thought it was the software itself.  I ended up taking everything off my computer, saving to  flash drives, and restoring back to the original state.  This didn't help.  I don't know if it was a hardware problem or a software problem, but the same issue came with this new unit.
Can someone offer me guidance?  I have always loved HP and have a laptop, two desktops, an all-in-one printer, and two  laser printers, all HP.  However, this can certainly change real fast if I can't find a fix for this issue.  (I ran  HP's  trouble shooter, but it didn't give me any information.)

  • Loading Windows 7 x64 on H520s

    Hi all,
I have an H520s, brand new.  I am trying to load Windows 7 x64 on it.  Upon booting from the DVD, I got an error; something about "Secure Boot" in Setup.  So I went in there and disabled Secure Boot.  Now, at least, the PC will boot from the DVD.
However, after the Windows boot DVD "loads files", it goes to the "Starting Windows" screen with the 4-colored flag and just sits there forever.  No progress, and I can't do anything.
    Help!  Thanks!
    Chris

    Hi,
Is "the exact same problem" the " cannot load windows on this disk" message?
IIRC you can select advanced options when you get to the disk selection screen.  Delete all existing partitions and exit.  The installer should continue with an MBR install from there.
If that doesn't work, use F10 to launch a command prompt and run DISKPART  (see online diskpart documentation) and do a list disk, select, clean, and convert mbr.  Exit and continue the install.
It's possible that you'll have to restart the installation.

  • My imac was running snow leopard and was upgraded to Mt. Lion. My Microsoft Office for Mac now will not open.  SO since my Office was 2004, I just purchased Office for Mac 2011.  Do I delete the icons before loading Office 2011 OR after I load 2011?

Upgraded my Imac to Mt. Lion and now the Microsoft Office icons will not open WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT, or ENTOURAGE.  I just pruchased on Ebay
OFFICE 2011 since my old version was 2004.  DO I REMOVE THE OLD ICONS BEFORE LOADING OFFICE 2011 RO AFTER I LOAD IT???
    THANKS, DR PEPPERMINT

Office 2011 will install in a separate folder. But do not install Office 2011 until you remove Office 2004. It comes with its own uninstalled located in the MS Office folder. Only use the uninstaller to get rid of it. Then install Office 2011.
Office 2004 and Other Applications Don't Work in Lion/Mountain Lion
If you have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite, it will not work in Lion/Mountain Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion/Mountain Lion.
You may want to consider as well:
These two suites are similar to Libre Office but not as current or as well-supported:
    NeoOffice
    Open Office
And, then there is Apple's iWork suite:
Pages - word processing and layout
    Keynote - presentation
    Numbers - spreadsheet
Each can open and save Office compatible files. They may be purchased separately via the Mac App Store for $19.99 each.
As for other software, any PPC-based software will not run in Lion or Mountain Lion because Rosetta is no longer part of OS X. You will need to upgrade to Intel versions of the software.
(Access to the Mac App Store requires Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or higher and an Apple ID.)

  • Bootcamp assistant doesn't restarts to the Windows installer. Macbook pro 13" (early 2015)

I'm trying to install windows 8.1 on my new macbook pro 2015, things are good until I got to the point after I chose the size of partition then mac restarts. It supposed to reboot to windows installer as described in step 4 below, but it boots into mac.
I was able to install the windows to my macbook air before without a problem, hope someone could suggest what I did wrong here.
Followed exact steps from here - How to install Windows using Boot Camp - Apple Support
    1. Check System Requirements
Some versions of Windows require a certain processor, and more hard drive space and memory (RAM) than others. Check the documentation that came with your copy of Windows to find out what you need. Then use System Information to see what your Mac currently has.
    2. Create a disk image of your Windows disc
When you purchase Windows, it either comes as a disk image file (ISO) or as an installation disc. If your copy of Windows came on a DVD, you should create a disk image of your installation disc.
    3. Open Boot Camp Assistant
Boot Camp Assistant walks you through installing Windows on your Mac. Open this app from the Utilities folder in the Applications folder and follow the onscreen instructions to automatically repartition your startup disk and download related software drivers for Windows. When prompted, connect your USB flash drive.
    4. Format your Windows partition
When you complete the assistant, your Mac restarts to the Windows installer. When you're asked where you want to install Windows, select the BOOTCAMP partition, then click Format.
    5. Install Windows
Follow the onscreen prompts to finish your Windows installation.
    6. Restart your computer
After Windows is installed, you can switch between OS X and Windows. Use the Startup Disk preference pane in OS X, or the Boot Camp system tray item in Windows to select your startup disk, then restart your computer

Ok, I finally got the problem solved. It didn't mention anywhere that I have to restart and holding down the 'option' key, then go to EFI boot... hope it'll help someone with the same issue.
    Cheers!

  • T510: Can't load Windows 7, Keeps rebooting only works in safe mode

Trying to get my T510 up and running after my W520 went DOA after a bios update.  When i power on the laptop it tries to load Windows 7 then goes into a rebooting loop.  I can get into safe mode with networking just fine without issues, so i figured it was a display driver problem.  In safe mode I unstalled the Nvidia drivers and tried to reboot but still got the same issue.  I went into the BIOS to see if I could disable optimus and use just the intel GPU, but I don't even see a setting for disabling it or reference to the NVidia GPU at all.  I'm positive it was there before.
I've swapped hard drives and memory modules out.  Even tried to do a fresh install of Windows and it still won't load.  I'm out of ideas.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Try and applied the machine updated in Safe mode. It usually works. If your install is from MS DVD then be sure all the foundation software is installed. Chipset tool especially and build from there.
You could also run the memory diagnostic after booting from the MS Windows 7 DVD. Eliminate a bad memory module. (If you have two) take the first on out and move the second one into the first slot. See if its stable, remove and insert the other SODIM into the first slot. Why, normal mode is very intense on RAM and also address a lot more memory.
