Instead of background image I see portions of my desktop

I have a new video card (ASUS Estreme AX300) (ATI Radeon 300 chipset). Now web pages with background images (e.g. http://slackbuilds.org) are clobbered with other parts of my desktop.
I suppose the Xorg radeon driver is the problem. Yet Seamonkey 1.1.18 does not have this problem.
Do you have any hints other than installing the proprietary ATI driver (I tried, but Slackware is not offered)?

Thank you for your patience X423424X.  Hense my handle as “I don’t have a clue” other than to do much more than to turn my Mac on or off.
Obviously, I didn’t know how to use the Go to Folder in the Go Menu until now, so that helps a great deal.
I had previously opened the Library folder and scrolled down to the folders you suggested  and did it several times so I’m a bit flustered because there were tons of plists in the LaunchAgents and LaunchDaemons folders.  HOWEVER, they are no longer there so I’m even more frustrated now.
Now there are no items in either the /Library/LaunchAgents or the /Library/LaunchDaemons folders and the only thing in the /Library/StartupItems is the NortonPersonalFirewall folder which includes NortonPersonalFirewall, a Resources Folder that includes an English.lproj folder with Localizable.strings and a StartupParameters.plist
When I opened the Login Items in my System Preferences there are no items listed.
Thanks again for your patience,

  • Background Image/Watermark

    I've searched the API's and the sample code. I can't seem to find an easy way to set a background image. Seeing as how I am a newbie at this perhaps I just don't know how to work with the classes as well as I thought.
    Any suggestions, code samples or URL's to help with this problem?

  • PAL background image size requirement

    I'm trying to help Shingy who asked a question about a background image problem (see the message thread at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=475370&tstart=0).
    Background images for NTSC projects (for at least the themes I've checked) seem to workout at the 'standard' image sizes: 720x540 pixel for standard and 854x480 pixels for widescreen.
    With PAL, using the PAL 'standard' image sizes: 768x576 pixel for standard and 1024x576 pixels for widescreen - results in images far larger than the background.
    Any suggestions to help Shingy?

    Fred,
    I don't know much about pic sizes, but maybe Karl's tables can help:

  • Dynamically Calling Background Image instead of standard setting

    Hi all,
    There is a requirement that, based on some condition I have to display shaded background image, say 'zimage1' .so as a result it should print in all pages. If condition fails, we have to display other image, say 'zimage2' in background. If both fails, no need to display background image.
    If any body knew the solution please assist me in this regards.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Nagesh.

    Do any one knew how to set Dynamic Background (Watermark) Image instead of going for the standard setting in Page. (by selecting BACKGROUND PictureTab).
    I want to pass a variable kind of information to the following fields during runtime.
    ie.,
    Path: Page->Background Picture.
    Name: <Variable image name>
    Object: GRAPHICS
    ID: BMAP
    and other properties like Ouput Mode, Position..etc.
    That image should come at backgroudn for all the pages.
    Hope, you have understood the issue here.
    Please do update me with relevnat ideas, if any.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Nagesh.

  • Background image instead of color for each sliding panel

    I'm working with sliding panels and trying to add some style to the page.  I have figured out how to put a different background color on each slide and even how to put a background image on the whole thing, but  I cannot figure out how to use multiple images (one for each pannel). When I put the images in place of the colors it works fine in the Dreamweaver screen but totally disapears in a web browser.  Here is the url:    http://www.centerofdiscovery.com/the_center_of_discovery_home_page.html
    any help would be great!

    Regarding getting the tabs to sit on top of the content panel, speaking generally here, make the containing div for both the tabs and the content panel to have a margin: 0 auto; setting.This is for horizontal alignment.
    The blue rectangle can be belayed by setting border: none; on the specific rule that applies to the "a" links within that container. It is an indication that there is a link there.
    Please rename the images that have word-spaces in their file names. Some browsers react badly to word-spaces.
    I see that you have
    <p>
      </p><div class="slidingpanelandtab">
        <blockquote>
          <p><a onclick="sp1.showPanel(0); return false;" href="#"><img width="144" height="70" class="oneColFixCtrHdr" src="Images/panneltab.jpg"/></a><a onclick="sp1.showPanel(1); return false;" href="#"><img width="144" height="70" src="Images/panneltabb.jpg"/></a><a onclick="sp1.showPanel(2); return false;" href="#"><img width="144" height="70" src="Images/panneltaba.jpg"/></a><a onclick="sp1.showPanel(3); return false;" href="#"><img width="144" height="70" src="Images/panneltabc.jpg"/></a></p>
        </blockquote>
    Which sets off your "slidingpanelandtab" class div with an empty paragraph space <p></p> and then sets off the next section not only with <p></p> paragraph spacing but also with a <blockquote></blockquote>, which will by all rights indent that element.
    I suggest that you get rid of the spurious paragraph tags and the blockquote; that should tighten up your spacing.

  • Background image instead of color

    Hi, I have a Flex 4 application with this code:
    <s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
                   xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
                   xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx"
                   backgroundColor="#000000"
                   applicationComplete="appComp()"
                   width="1600" height="900"
    public function appComp():void{
        stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.SHOW_ALL;
        stage.align = StageAlign.TOP;
        //stage.align = StageAlign.LEFT;
    NOTE: In the index.template.html I have change all width and heights from the default "${width}" and "${height}" to "100%"
    The documentation says of SHOW_ALL : "Borders can appear on two sides of the application."
    I can change the color of these borders with backgroundColor in Application tag, but....   How can I put an image (or swf) instead of these Borders?
    THANKS.
    Raúl.

    Hi There,
    In my knowledge, there are two ways to do that.
    1) Create a skin for your application(I guess this option is only for advanced users) and choose the background colour there
    2) A trick which I found is take a border container and use a background image for this border container.
    e.g.:-
    <s:BorderContainer
      width="100%" height="100%" x="0" y="2" backgroundImage="@Embed(source='assets/images/nameofimage.jpg')">
    //other components
    </s:BorderContainer>

  • Printing black background on paper, instead of actual image

    hi,
    i am having a JPanel with some photos drawn on it using g.drawImage(..) method, for printing. while running the program the panel is showing fine on the screen. since in my room as i dont have a printer, i am printing with adobe printer in which the content to be printed will be saved as pdf file.
    Even the created pdf file while printing is showing perfectly what is supposed to be printed. but when i tried the same program and asked to print on real printer, strangely only a large full black background is printed on paper instead of the image.
    plz explain why such thing is happening.

  • Background, Images, & text is blacked out. I can not see any menus to edit anything... Help

    Background, Images, & text is blacked out. I can not see any menus to edit anything...
    The curser shows there are links when you move over. I have uninstalled and re-installed Firefox and restarted my computer with no luck.
    I can not see the menus to try and reset Firefox or change any settings.
    HELP Please

    hello obrienn214, other users with this problem all had an embedded intel hd3000 graphics card with an old driver present. in case this also applies to you, here would be a link to update the driver, which in turn should also address the black firefox problem: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23764 (for win7 64 bit)
    in case this doesn't solve the issue or does not apply to your system, start firefox into safemode '''by pressing the shift key while the application is launching''' & disable hardware acceleration in the firefox ''menu ≡ > options > advanced > general'' (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect).

    Hello
    You need to run your VI once. Wire the Select Signals express VI to your DAQ Assistant and run the VI once (this allows the signal names to propegate).

    @media screen, projection
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal li.MenuBarItemIE
    display: inline;
    f\loat: left;
    background: #FFF;

    Because I can't see your site and code in context, I will make a guess that this style is throwing off your alignment:
    /* Menu item containers, position children relative to this container and are a fixed width */
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal li
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;
    list-style-type: none;
    font-size: 100%;
    position: relative;
    text-align: center;
    cursor: pointer;
    width: 160px;
    float: left;
    background-image: url(file:///E|/MAIN_website/images/menu_background.jpg);
    Remove the text-align:center; from the above style.
    Instead of centering your list element (li), center the link text (a) itself:
    /* Menu items are a light gray block with padding and no text decoration */
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal a
    display: block;
    cursor: pointer;
    padding: 0.5em 0.75em;
    color: #FFF;
    text-align: center;
    text-decoration: none;
    font-family: Cambria, Arial, sans-serif;
    font-size: 14px;
    If you don't want the submenu text to be centered, do this immediately after the previous style:
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul a {text-align: left;}
    The sub-submenus are also set up by default to be jogged a bit to the right. You can adjust this style:
    /* Submenus should appear slightly overlapping to the right (95%) and up (-5%) */
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul ul
    position: absolute;
    margin: -5% 0 0 95%;
    that causes sub-submenus to fly out to the right of the submenus to which they attach.
    Submenus themselves (not the sub-submenus) should fall directly under the top menu item by default, once you remove the text-align: center; on the li item (above).

  • How do I change the blurred background image on the Select User Screen

    I have changed the desktop image on all of my users, as well as the screen savers.  However, when I logout of one user and the screen where you select another user comes up, there is an image on the background of this particular screen that I cannot figure out how to change.
    This is crucial because I do not want to see my crazy, abusive ex-wife every time I select a different user...even if it is a blurred image.
    This blurred out image does not appear anywhere else on any of the different user accounts as a background/desktop image.
    How do I change this background image?
    Please help.

    This seems to be a bug that goes away w/ 10.10.1
    Yosemite login screen possible bug
    "if I put my Mac in sleep mode, when I wake up it, the password request screen uses the default Yosemite wallpaper in blurred mode instead of the wallpaper I have chosen for my desktop."
    or maybe not:
    "And it still happens after the 10.10.1 update."
    This seems to work.
    "The only way I was able to fix this problem was to go Mission Control and close all extra desktops I was using except Desktop 1 (which you cannot delete if it is the last one). After deleting the extra desktops besides Desktop 1, I went into preferences and set my wallpaper. Once I complete both of these steps I returned to the login screen. The wallpaper I used for Desktop 1 was now my background for the login screen. Hope this helps."

  • How to get background image to fill the browser and remain fixed in both IE and Firefox?

    Basically what it says in the title. I've come very close in achieving this but something just doesn't tie up in the html and css code...
    First of all, I'm using IE8 and the latest version of Firefox to test this.
    I used 2 sources of information for getting this done: 1) http://css-tricks.com/perfect-full-page-background-image/ and 2) http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8958697/css3-background-size-cover-doesnt-make-image-co ver-vertically
    In Case 1 the example on the page called CSS-Only Technique #1 gives code that works almost perfectly for me, except that obviously I need a background image, however the CSS provided there is clearly just for an image dropped in the body of a page with no regard for other content that may already be there. The html code that I put on the page is simply <img class="bg" src="../images/background_image.jpg">
    Obviously I used the CSS code provided in the example, minus the last bit which is "@media screen" etc etc, which seems irrelevant to me. Obviously substituting values to suit the image on my page.
    So what happened is that it almost worked as intended in both the browsers (which means the image filled both browsers width-wise as intended and also remained fixed when I zoomed in or out in each case) except that the image went over the top of the current content that I had there already precisely because it's not a background in this "technique". (A curious side-note is that the image didn't push down the content, as I'd have expected in normal circumstances, but went right over the top of it so it hid it (like z-index).
    One thing that does bother me about this "technique" is that if you click on View Demo just below the code provided you will see on the working example page (forest background) the image clearly works as a background and the content sits happily on top! So I don't know whether the person providing the example was trying to mislead people or what! Or he got lazy and showed a different page that didn't use the exact code he provided. No matter.
    In any case this leaves me with the job only half finished, as I still need a background image that works like the 'normal image' code provided.
    On to Case 2 and on this page the first example provided gives the CSS for the background image - namely the code within html {...} part and also shows the same 'normal image' code as given in Case 1. In this case however, although the person provided a suggestion, the css and html doesn't really tie up properly plus some of the css and html seems a bit redundant. So this time when I used the 'html portion' of the CSS code (i.e. just the bit that was most relevant) I got two different behaviours in each browser and neither of which was quite what I'm looking for. In IE8 initially the page looks fine (background fills the page and content is on top) however when I zoom in or out the background also zooms in or out accordingly so is NOT fixed. In Firefox the background image DOES stay fixed, however because the image originally is not the whole height of the browser I'm guessing the code stretches it downwards (while keeping proportions - so the image essentially enlarges) to fill all of it. The quick way to get around it is to probably add some white space to the bottom of the image just to give it enough height that it doesn't stretch/resize automatically. But it would be nice to find out anyway how to get around this in the code. Overall I would say that the result in Firefox comes closest to the desired solution but of course it doesn't help matters with IE8.
    Apologies for the lengthy description but that should at least provide plenty info for anybody that might have a possible solution for me. Essentially what would be great is if somebody could advise me how to take the code from Case 1 and apply it to a 'background' piece of coding like the type that's contained within html {...} in Case 2. Like I said, it's so nearly there but I just can't make it work atm after trying to combine the various bits of code this way and that... Alternatively, if somebody has another html-css version that works nicely for achieving this then please by all means let me know! Thanks v much in advance!

    This works in modern CSS3 supporting browsers.  But not pre-IE9.

  • Problems with the background image in IE

    Hi I've been optimizing some pages for the different browsers in Dreamweaver CS4. They all work fine in Safari, Firefox and Opera, Internet Explorer is, however not showing the background image I have selected. I can't for the life of me see what's going wrong! Any help wopuld be appreciated. here is the code on my index page which I built from a template. I don't know if it's the editable areas that are going wrong!

    Hi
    The fact you are using a Mac is why both myself and JCellini assumed you where using a pre IE7 version.
    But the code you are using to test in IE will cause a problem with any 'virtual machine' such as crossover, because it cannot reference anything outside its own assigned section of the drive, and referencing the png in the way you are would be for it an invalid reference, it also would not work in any browser when you uploaded the site.
    Change - background-image:url(file:///Macintosh  HD/Users/myname/Documents/websites/test/Test/images/test_back.png);
    To - background-image:url(images/test_back.png);
    But if the region is not editable I would suggest you temporarily make it so, externalize your css to a css file, insert a link to the external css file in your head content, then lock the region once again. This way you will always be able to edit your css without worrying about 'locked regions'.

  • How can I put a background image in headers in PAGES

    It seems I cannot put a background image in headers. I want a background gradient to go behind the text. I have to place it on the "page" "behind" the header on every sheet instead. Other than creating a graphic that is both (bitmapped) text and image, what can I do? Or is there some way to create an object that has edittable text over the image. Thanks, Peter

    If you are referring to Pages app, it is easy:
    Open your document
    Go to Menu >> View >> Show Layout
    You will see headers, body and footers laid out with edges
    Click inside the header
    Open  your Media browser
    Drag your graphics (or photo) into the header
    Be sure to PRESS AND HOLD COMMAND (APPLE) KEY while you do this!!!
    If you don't pres the key, the picture will be pasted outside the header!
    I think the Command key press was what was screwing you up here...
    This applies to Numbers and iWeb as well, BTW
