Instructions For Removal of 1.8 G5 Dual Processors

I searched here and on the internet for any instructions on how to remove the processors from a 1.8 Dual Power Mac G5. Couldn't find anything???
I have a confirmed CPU1 failure.
I'd like to get/see a pictorial if possible.

Hello and thanks so much for your quick reply. I am at a standstill, because I have done those things already and it has not worked. The repair install procedure seemed to take place quickly, but the same thing happened again when I tried to uninstall it the program after that.... It seems to proceed, then the progress bar goes backward, and there it still is!
When I downloaded the Microsoft Fixit program and asked it to uninstall the Apple Mobile device Support, it started but then got stuck and I had to shut my computer off, as it froze everything up!
I'm hoping you can help..... This seems to be a problem with the new version, and it's frustrating, because I can't use Itunes on my computer at all till we find a solution.
Perhaps if I try to restore my computer to before the Itunes 11.1.4 uodate?

Welll you can see how flustered I am with this issue. I still forgot to add the instructions again.
"Here are some instructions for you in case you use Encore on your home computer and it is having issues:
Click on Start
Click on Control Panel
Click on Add/Remove Programs
Scroll down and remove all Java versions installed on your machine
After all java versions have been removed:
Go to http://www.encore.davis.k12.ut.us
Click on the Need help, click here link
Click on Download JVM 1.6.0_16 under the Required Software Components
Click on Run
Click on Run (Do you want to install this software?)
Click on Install
Uncheck the ‘Install the Ask Toolbar and make Ask my default search provider)

My macbook won't shut down. Had MacDefender and followed all instructions for removal but still get told can't shut down cause their processes are running. Any suggestions?

I followed all directions and quit all processes, emptied trash etc. When I try to shut down I get pop-ups telling me apps are running even though I quit them. I can't install upgrades because I can't shut down. Doing a hard reboot doesn't help at all. Any suggestions?

If any of the apps won't quit on you in future, try ti kill them in Terminal:
killall Finder
then hit enter
If you don't know the official app name (how OS SX sees it), go to COMMAND_OPTION_ESCAPE and see the official name in the running app list.
The power button method above works 100%, but will bypass saving of session states for all services, so your OS X could be unstable after reboot and won't remember some settings you had prior to shuting down. Use it only as a last resort.

My iTunes does not recognize disc burner. I read through answers on the web page and followed the instructions for removing the GEAR drivers and then reinstalled iTunes. It still says there is no disc burner or software installed. Can anyone help?

Couple of things I spotted right off ... diagnostics still don't show me as an administrator but I told it run as administrator. When it asked to insert a prerecorded CD and then choose which drive to use, I have no drives in the menu to choose from but yesterday I had 2 and shows no external plug-ins installed. Hmmm. CHUD on a dual processor MDD running Leopard (10.5.8)

I finally got around to installing CHUD today and am wondering if some of you folks who have used it for a while might have some easy answers to a few questions.
I first tried version 3.5.2. It installed, but I couldn't adjust any of the settings. I then read on japamac's site that some MDD's could use 4.4.4. I installed that version and it does work (In fact, I'm posting this with one processor tied behind my back). However, there does not seem to be an option for nap mode.
Also, after I toggle between single an dual processor mode a few times, performance in dual mode seems to take a big hit. A restart solves the problem, but I'm wondering if this is normal.
Is there any way to get nap mode to work in a dual cpu MDD running 10.5.8?
Is there any way to get it to stay in single CPU mode when it wakes from sleep?
I read through the discussions at xlr8yourmac before posting this. It appears that some people have been able to get nap mode to work under Leopard, but they are not always careful to mention exactly which version of Leopard and CHUD they are using.

When installing CHUD, it is also necessary to run CHUD remover to deinstall previous installations.
If not deinstalled, odd stuff happens.
3.5.2 is the one for dual processors.
Other versions have mixed dual processor support.
This is one of the claims that 4.4.4 works, but I have lingering doubts

Oracle Database on Dual-Processor Servers

I am contemplating on transferring my two instances of oracle 10g rel1 rdbms to a dual processor server from a single processor one.
What advantages will I gain? Is it really worth it?

Acutally, the instances running on my database server our production and development databases. The server would still host the two instances. BTW, my server is a Linux box (RHEL ES 4.0) with 3GB RAM running an intel XEON 3.0Ghz CPU (HP-Compaq ML-350).
I have Grid Control installed in a Windows 2003 where I manage the two instances and when I monitor the databases, I always get alerts that the CPU and memory utlizations are very high, in the high 90s (%).
Last night, I was informed that our server room will be made as location of an additional database server that will host databases for HR,Procurement,Inventory and Logistics and we will be the DBA for that. User base would be around 40 simultaneus online users at a any given time plus or minus 5 users. Total possible users will be around 100. Operation is from 7am to 6 pm, weekdays.
For this server, we have proposed dual processor (intel XEON) and 4GB RAM. Would this be enough to meet our incoming requirements?

Dual-core 2.3GHz G5 processor Vs. Dual-processor 2.3GHz G5

I have just purchaced a DUAL PROCESSOR 2.3GHz G5 is there a difference with this to a DUAL-CORE ?
Apple sent me this and told me it was the same thing .
sent me RAM that doesn't fit .
so I call and they say they differ . that i need different Ram
or the newer G5 for an added cost of $500.00
is there a difference or are they milking me?
I feel as they should just send me the new one .

There are some significant differences between the Dual Core and the Dual Processor 2.3 GHz Powermacs. There is the difference in memory and there is also the difference of PCI Express in the Dual Core as opposed to to PCIx for the expansion slots in the Dual Processor. In addition the Dual Core has the 1 MB of cache for each processor which improves performance.
Personally, if it was my machine, I would send it back and request that they send what I had ordered.

I need instructions for installing a AE card in a dual 2 GHZ powermac G5. I understand I need to also install an external antenna. Since I do not have an antenna where is the best source for the antenna, apple or an outside vendor. My G5 is presently connected to a netgear router and I want to use the AE card to communicate with an airport express base station with airtunes connected to my stereo receiver. Would this create a conflict since my computer is connected to the netgear router. Any help would be appreciated.

You are going to need the t-shaped external aerial otherwise this is not going to work. Even though your PowerMac did not come with an Airport Extreme Card built in, it would have been supplied with the aerial.
You will need to find a replacement.

I am presuming that your Netgear is not wireless.
Can you connect the Airport Express to the router are do you want it in a different room?
You will be able to be connected to the router and AX at the same time, but in order to avoid internet and network issues, you should ensure that built-in-ethernet is above Airport in the network configurations.

Need disassembly instructions for lid/glass plate of Photosmart 5520 printer to remove dead ants

I have ants under the glass of my printer. The ants got very excited and freaked out when I pressed the copy button and the light bar turned on! The ants are dead now as I placed the printer in the freezer for several days in a sealed bag. Now I need a disassembly procedure allowing me to just gain access to the area under the glass plate so I can remove all the dead ants and pupa before they attract any new ants or fungi. I am good at taking apart basic electronic products but I would rather have a step-by-step disassembly precedure if available. The online PDF disassembly instructions for recyclers didn't help because of lack of detail. Of course, I would also like to be able to put it back together in working order. I could just leave the ants to mummify if field disassembly is not a good idea.

I installed Win 7 Pro 64 on my T400, ran TVSU and installed R&R 4.3. Fortunately, I didn't read those instructions first, or I might not have done it
Have you tried just installing R&R? If it needs anything else, it should ask for it during the install. IIRC, it does require the VCC+ package.

I want to prevent MyDay from starting up when I switch on. I have followed all instructions for doing this, but to no effect. I have unlocked and relocked.

I use an Macbook from 2006 with OS X 10.7.5
MyDay starts up every time I switch on. I don't use it, so want to remove it from the list of programs which start automatically. I have followed all instructions for doing this, and have of course unlocked and relocked the relevant page in Systems Preferences, but the instruction never 'sticks', and MyDay still starts every time. Anyone know what to do?

Check StartupItems...
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
/Library/StartupItems
Click Go. If you see any reference to MyDay, delete it. That does not delete the app Just keeps it from launching when you startup your Mac.
Just to be sure, you checked System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items ??
Unlocking or locking the padlock icon only prevents other users from changing your preferences.

Thanks in advance for your help! I need some good, complete instructions for replacing the keyboard on my HP Pavilion DV-6 1030us; including all screws needing removed, etc. I already have the replacement keyboard. All the instructions I've found online appear to be regarding different models, or just pertaining to the DV-6 family in general. I simply need the specifics for my model, 1030us. I know they're not too difficult; I'm an A+ tech, so that does help a bit.

This is the Manual which applies to your model. It applies to the whole dv6-1000 series but it does show how to remove and replace your keyboard.

76-78 are the key pages. Screws and positions are clearly identified. You do not need to remove the screen. Be careful with the ribbon cables on the switch cover and the keyboard.

Where to find instructions to remove/replace motherboard iMac G5?

Bad caps on mobo. I may be able to find another one, but first need step by step instructions to remove/ replace the mobo on 17", first or early generation. I've been looking around, but can't seem to find this. Can anyone, please, direct me to a site or page for this. Also, probably need to replace the power supply. Does anyone know where I might find one new, or at least competently refurbished, from a reputable dealer. Thanks.

In our experience—despite the propensity of Apple to once replace both the power supply and logic board on the first generation of iMac G5 models affected by either issue, it is seldom the case that both are bad. In the ALS models, which are far less frequently affected by the defective capacitor issue, is is more often the case that both components must be refurbished or replaced.
This company will refurbish your board and, if necessary, sell you a replacement power supply. The cost of refurbishing the board is $ 189.00 - the cost of replacing the power supply is $ 139.00, though in the relatively uncommon case that both are required, a discount is typically offered on the cost of the replacement power supply. They recommend that you not remove the logic board yourself, as they are easily damaged in the process because they are easily flexed.
You can certainly take the approach recommended of attempting the repair yourself, but these services are offered with a one year warranty and no additional charges other than the cost of shipping your machine back once completed. There is no charge for diagnosis, and no charge if the machine is not repairable, or not in need of repair.
