Instrument stack trace on config.xml
I upgraded my aplication from weblogic 6.1 to 8.1,
"instrument stack trace" is working fine with 6.1.
it is not making any difference with 8.1,(i.e)
i could't see any server side exception stack trace from the client when application got deployed on 8.1.
what should i do in order to see the stack trace

have you checked that whether InstrumentStackTraceEnabled is true or not ?
With this attribute enabled, if a client issues an RMI call to a server subsystem or to a module running within the server, and if the subsystem or module generates an exception that includes a stack trace, the server will return the exception as well as the stack trace. With this attribute disabled, the server will return exceptions without the stack trace details.

Empty Weblogic Server 8.1 SP1 Repeating Stack Trace

An instance of Weblogic 8.1 SP1 on our UAT environment keeps on spitting out stack traces even though the only user accessing WL is via the admin console. There are no applications deployed on this platform.
The stack trace is also intermittent and can't be attributed to a specific action. This is occuring on our UAT environment and on a WL install which is a copy of our production environment. But we don't get these stack traces on production??
Here are some details of the server hosting WL 8.1 SP1 in our UAT environment.

I am seeing server side stack trace in getMessage() method which is being stuffed

I am using weblogic 704 on solaris box. I have a clustered (2) environment. I
am getting the following exception very frequently. My question is how do we turn
off the server side stack trace?
Start server side stack trace:
java.rmi.MarshalException: error marshalling return; nested exception is:
java.io.NotSerializableException:
.... etc
End server side stack trace
; nested exception is:
... etc.
This server side stack trace happens only for this exception. I have some other
NullPointer exception etc. But its not coming for those exception.
Any help?
THanksI think I found it myself. Uncheck the "Instrument Stack Traces" check box under
debugging. I did this and monitoring the logs.

Console link to source not working/ struts-config.xml visual
- Running jboss/tomcat under the NitroX server debugging, a stack trace
is spit out. I click on the line in the stack trace that references my
code, and it gives me: 'Source not found for x.y.z '. This used to work
when I ran under the jbossIDE server config.
- When I open my struts-config.xml file, the visual display appears
broken. It only displays 2 action classes, and nothing else. There's a
whole lot more than that in there. Is there something in my
struts-config file it doesn't like?

The problem may be a conflict with the different version. My versions are quartz-1.6.0.jar, log4j-1.2.15.jar.
When i rename the file url-template-config.xml i don't have this exception but just a log4j Warning but i don't know if it's not dangerous for my application (run with WebLogic 9.2) if i rename this file.
Can you give me a solution to remove this exception or tell me if rename this file it's not dangerous ?

MH.url-template-config.xml is part of Apache Beehive. This file is used to provide a template mechanism for URL's. Is your application using Apache Beehive purposefully?

Parse error on adf-faces-config.xml
When I try to include the "adf-faces-config.xml" I get XML parse errors (see stack trace below). I'm using Jboss. ADF faces works fine, it's just when I try to include ths adf-faces-config.xml in web.xml.
Anyone sees what is wrong here? The web.xml entry does get read, and it does find the adf-faces-config.xml file mentioned, and it does start to parse. I also know that the config file is OK (I tried several sample files I found on the web, and I even manually verified againt the schema) ...

You can't actually rfer to adf-faces-config.xml from web-inf.
I got this info from some website, but that was plain wrong.
The ad-faces-config.xml location is hardcoded (WEB-INF/ad-faces-config.xml).

if you have an older copy of this file, just replace it, your faces-config.xml file might get moved around, mine took me over an hour to rearrange my page flows but it did the trick. -
What caused the "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError (no stack trace available)"?
We just met another problem: after I modified the BDM file on TUXEDO and bdmconfig.xml
file on WEBLOGIC (with no ACL or authentication setup on both side), when I booted
up the WebLogic 6.1 server, the ULOG file of Tuxedo says that the connection has
been set up, however, I got the "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError (no stack trace available)"
on the WebLogic side. I tried to enlarge the Java heap size even to 1024m, but it
has no use. If I delete the WTC setting then WebLogic works fine.
Could somebody helps me on this? Because we have a very tight schedule on development,
I do appreciate your quick response.

Check the logs to see if the out of memory is the only execption orif
it is the last exception. It could be that there is something happening
earlier on that you are missing.
There are also other JVM problems that can arise besides the heap
size. The Hotspot VM had an issue where you needed to set a maximum
permanent generation size( helps garbage collection tuning I think).
(-XX:MaxPermSize=32m for jdk130,64m for jdk131). It comes into
play when you are loading many classes.

domain. This should not be set or set it to NULL. This problem occurs
because encoding/decoding is always needed between java and non-java

Compacting the cache-config.xml for multiple cache-store
Hi,
I have a cache-config.xml that has various ReadWriteBackingMaps with different CacheLoader implementations. I was wondering of the best way to compact this xml using the scheme-ref tag, as all I really need is schemes, with different cache stores. e.g. I have an InstrumentCacheStore and a CurrencyCacheStore .. which invoke different CacheLoaders. they are both distributed caches.
I thought the below would work, but it dosen't.. :( when loading a currency, the InstrumentCacheStore gets invoked.
is there a way to compact this XML? Else, for 6 different cache loaders that I have, do I have to specify the whole distributed-scheme again and again?

Trying to dynamically load CSS for project at compile time via config XML file to select CSS file.
I'm using the same code base to compile different versions of a project. Each project has different base fonts. I've created multiple css files that use the same style names. The idea being that in the code I reference the style names, then the loaded CSS determines which font (and size, color, etc) is used for each style name.
The CSS files are compiling to SWFs, and those SWFs are referenced in config.xml files. Before compiling, I select the config file to use.
I am loading the CSS SWF files via the StyleManager in the Application.mxml, like so:
styleManager.loadStyleDeclarations( _contentData.elements( 'cssPath' ).@path )
The path traces out correctly as:
assets_embed/styles/project2.swf
For some reasone I must include an fx:Style line in the Application.mxml file or no fonts are recognized. Example:
<fx:Style source="assets_embed/styles/project1.css"/>
If I reference the css for project one (as done above) then most, but not all, styles work. Some styles reference the fonts from the project 1 css, others properly use fonts from project 2 swf. If I point to the CSS for the project I'm compiling in the <fx:Style > tag then all fonts work, but that defeats the goal of using XML rather than code to identify the styles.
So, why do I need the fx:Style line if the css is being loaded via StyleManager?

Is there a better way to select styles at compile time?I read this quickly so I might have missed a detail. I think your describing an issue with recent Flex releases that is described in the fine print somewhere. If you don't have any fonts embedded in the main app and are only bringing in fonts embedded in CSS SWFs, you have to force-link the EmbeddedFontRegistry by adding something like this to the main app's script block.

(Yes, "EmbeddedFontRegistry" is in there twice, once to define the fully qualified name, the other to create a class dependency to force the linking).
