Insufficient bandwidth with USB mic

Dual 2G G5, plenty RAM. OS 10.4.5
Dreaded "insufficient bandwidth" message appears although I checked the firewall settings, quicktime settings, restarted. I haven't a clue what is going on. Any suggestions?

Hi Leiia
Have you tried restarting your router/modem.

    Hi Life93,
What you describe would be possible by recording your video, then removing the audio from it and adding audio from GarageBand once the video is in iMovie (I presume here that you are using iMovie for your video production. Other applications may need different methods.)

  • MSi Dragon Editon 2 problems booting with usb mice

Hi to all people. I have a problem with my laptop. If i update my BIOS with versions newer tan E1763IMS.50V the laptop doesn´t boot with usb mice connected. I think i  answer this in the past but with not solution and now i ask again  thinking some people have a solution now.I have checked with differents EC versions and  BIOS E1763IMS.50V and with all versions works fine. If i update the BIOS E1763IMS.50V with other newer BIOS the problem appears. When the pc is started  and Windows 8.1 is charged i can connect the mouse and works fine too. I have checked with various mices and with all the problem appears. The only BIOS that works fine is E1763IMS.50V.
Thanks a lot for your help

I borrowed a GT70, plugged my SteelSeries Rival optical mouse and flashed with the same 50V version to the laptop. It boots & works normally.
And then I flashed to 518 version. It still boots & works normally.
So maybe your problem is not on the mouse?
Did it boot up if unplugging the mouse?

  • Insufficient bandwidth with certain buddies

Well... it's the same old problem. I get the insufficient bandwidth error. Only with one exception: I get the error with only 1 specific buddy. I can't seem to do audio/vid chat with Buddy A, but have no problems with Buddy B, and Buddy A and Buddy B can connect with one another.
I have tried all the regular fixes (ie. QT bandwidth, checked download speeds, no firewall etc) and even re-installed iChat the hard way.
Still can't connect to Buddy A though...

I have a similar problem but we are all using the most current, 10.4.5, MacOS load.
I have a 15" PowerMac G4 HD with an iSight conneted and am trying to video chat with a variety of other Macs... another 15" PowerMac G4 1.67, a 15" MacBook Pro, a 17" iMac Intel, and a 20" iMac G5. My Mac and my friend's Macs are all connected to the Internet via broadband connections... some cable modems, some DSL, and one on an AT&T T1. Sometimes it works and other times it does not... It is sporatic enough to call it unreliable. We all have enough horsepower and bandwidth but for some reason the chats fail to start and we are treated with "so-and-so failed to respond"
It is ancient history now but when we all had Panther, iChat 2 and G4s this never occured... we started having problems when we all upgraded to Tiger and started getting G5s and CoreDuos... Not a very scientific observation and I'm not sure of the relevence.

  • Observation made with USB mics and Audition CC on OSX and Windows

    Hi all,
I have Audition CC installed on both my desktop (running Windows 7 pro x64) and my Macbook air (OSX Mavericks).
I noticed that when I use my USB microphone (Audio Technica AT2020) on the desktop, with latency set as low as possible, there is still a slight bit of lag when monitoring.
On the other hand, when I use the USB microphone with the Macbook Air, with i/o buffering at 32 samples [and sometimes higher], I get what seems like zero lag when monitoring.
Does this have to do with hardware or drivers differences between both machines?
    Thanks!

    Yeah.
One of the big drawbacks with most USB microphones is that most don't provide any monitoring--they rely on you using whatever is built into your computer.  (There are a few USB mics that do include monitoring but they're fairly rare.)
In most cases, this'll just be whatever sound card is installed in the computer--and the standard ones on most PCs are a 65 cent chip designed for the simplest of playback duties and Skype calls, not recording.  This would mean that the only way to monitor is for your signal to do a round trip via the computer which inevitably introduces some latency even with very low buffer settings.
Once you get to more specialist audio interfaces (even fairly basic ones) they have a feature called "direct hardware monitoring" which lets you create a monitor mix in the interface itself before the signal even goes into the computer.  I'm not a Mac user but I have to assume that the audio hardware in your Apple provides some form of direct monitoring without the "round trip".

  • How to record an audio clip in Premiere Pro cc with USB mic on PC

    Hey All,
Having trouble finding a solution on the web. I have just made the switch to Premiere Pro CC from Final Cut Pro 7, and also from Mac to PC, yikes I know. I am looking to record some audio clips directly into PP with my USB mic. I have successfully hooked up my usb mic through the PC control panel. My ignorance will be apparent here, What should I do next in Premiere Pro to begin recording my clips?

  • Distortion with USB mic and Logic Pro/Garage Band

I have read a ton of posts, but I have yet to find an answer to this question. I have a USB mic that used to work wonderfully before upgrading to Leopard. When I make a recording now, it usually works well for about 5 minutes, and then out of nowhere I get horrible distortion. I have read that if I changed the frequency from 48000Hz to 44000Hz it would correct the problem. It seemed to work, but the problem keeps coming back. If I switch the microphone profile from built-in mic back to USB Mic in Preferences>Audio, it corrects the problem for a little while. It happens in Logic, Garageband and any other program that I try to record to.
I read in a Leopard update note that one of the past few upgrades was supposed to fix this issue, but it hasn't been fixed for me. Does anybody know of any solution to this problem? I would be greatly indebted to you!

Nope. The larger buffer didn't work. What did work was running a cord out of the 1/4-inch jack from the direct box to a 1/4-to-1/8-inch adapter and then into the mic/line-in jack on my computer. I set GarageBand to use the built-in line-in and had no static problems. It's a stopgap until this gets fixed.

  • Big problem with USB mic in on headset

I have a USB logitech 250 headset which I use on both windows (2Kserver & XP) and Mac OSX. The headset works fine on both PCs but I get wierd input readings on the Mac (G5). At first the input is OK and works fine but once you ask it to do something such as make a voice recording in Audion or Garageband or use it in Skype, after about 10-30 seconds it seems to crash. Then it sounds like it samples the first half second of any input after that via the microphone and loops it over and over again until the headset is unplugged. I can't hear it live through the speakers or headphones but I can see it happening on the microphone input levels in system preferences and can record it in any audio software. I've tried it in every usb port and it makes no difference.
    Please help, Ilah

I have this exact same problem, except I am trying to get the headset (a Logitech Premium USB Headset 350) to work with Teamspeex. I've tried two other headsets as well to no avail.
The behavior is the same, seems to be working fine using the input levels in the Sound Preferences as a guide, when I startup the audio application, the inputs locks up and seems to only have a split second of audio which it sends over and over again. Such that if I say "Test" it will result in "TesTesTesTesTesTesTes" and the input levels in the Sound Preferences shows the same thing over and over too.
I plugged this same headset into PowerBook G4 and it works flawlessly with the same software, no problems what-so-ever.
Would love to hear if you found a solution.

  • Does the Mac Mini have some issues with USB mics?

    Hi there,
I've been having issues getting my Mac Mini to register my Logitech usb headset.  I originally thought it was an issue with Mavericks, but when I tested the headset on my friends Macbook, it works fine.  I tried using my iPhone headphones in the headphone slot, and it picks up my voice fine.  The Logitech headset is suppose to be Osx friendly, but is there something I'm missing and does anyone know why my logitech headset is not working with my Mac Mini properly?

For some Logitech devices you need drivers, for others you don't.  Call Logitech support to find out if that one has been tested with 10.9.

  • Creeping delay with USB condensor Mic

I have been using a samsung usb c01u mic for a whil first with Garageband and now with Logic.
It is fine except that as it is used over the course of a short while a noticeable delay gradually creeps in. The delay is at first not noticeable but after 5-10 minutes of use it is large enough to be distracting.
The only fix I have found is to reset a parameter in the audio preferences panel and then select APPLY CHANGES. The audio then cuts out and restarts and then all is well...until the delay gradually creeps back in and I have to reset a parameter again.
This has been going on for a while but i am posting now because of a new development: I now have a USB audio interface for my semiacoustic guitar and I have noticed that this device does not seem to have this issue at all. The acoustic guitar latency is not noticeable and does not increase with time. The mic however as usual starts without delay and gradually develops one.
I am routing my audio out through the usb interface instead of out of the 'built in audio' but this does not seem to have improved the creeping delay issue.
Anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions?

Thanks for that Well it is a few years old now and has served me well. I am happy enough to know it isn't something that i should expect - time for an upgrade I think!
Oh and yes, it is a Samson as you point out. Its been a great little mic while it lasted...
While it's not something you should expect, I don't think it's the mic's fault, it's been reported off and on be several other users andnot only with USB mics. You're using the mic with an aggregate device correct? I'd first look there and possibly change a few of the settings, experiment a bit. If you have other USB devices plugged in (not kybed or mouse) in, like a printer...iPod...etc. try removing them when using the mic.

  • Insufficient Bandwidth driving me crazy!

I’ve read and followed the suggestions in all the discussions on insufficient bandwidth with iChat but I still can’t get it to work with certain people. I can chat with and see my friends in Chicago but not my family in the UK. We’re all using macs. Could someone please help me?

    Hi Tony,
Thank you for all your help yesterday! By the end of the day I'd have my fill of trying to get iChat to work and tried another program to video conference (SightSpeed). It worked right away and now all my family can see each other, no problem.
Thanks again for all your help and time,

Aggregate devices are setup in the Audio/Midi setup of OSX Utilities, (Not in Logic). It gives you a way of having for than one audio i/o device. Once you have set up your aggregated devices in Audio/Midi, when you start Logic you will need to go into Audio preferences and choose the Aggregate device.
