"Insufficient content for edit" Error Message

In Premiere, when performing a three point edit, I would get a "Fit Clip" dialogue box that asked me if I wanted to "Ignore Source In Point", "Ignore Source Out Point", etc. I usually pick the same option so I checked off the box that said "Always use this choice". If an edit doesn't exactly fit the parameters I universally set, an error comes up saying, "insufficient content for edit".
I can't find a way to undo that without wiping my settings clean. Is there a way to bring that initial dialogue box back up? Thanks, all.

I figured it was a check box I was overlooking. Thanks!

  • Why do I always have "Insufficent Content for Edit" error message ?

    Hi all FCE experts,
May I ask why do I always have "Insufficent Content for Edit" error message when I tried to overwrite or replace a clip ?
    Ok,this is what happen:
I have a clip A (4 secs) followed by clip B (4 secs). Then in between I add a video transition.
After a while, I reckon I want to change clip B with another clip (say clip C). So, I went to brower & search for clip C which is 2 mins long clip. To make sure there are enough handles, I went to the centre mark an In point then 4 sec later mark an Out point. So I drag this clips C of 4 secs from the Viewer (I marked the In & Out point in the viewer) to the Overlay canvas & do an Overwrite but it says "Insufficent Content for Edit".
I then tried Replace also got the "Insufficent Content for Edit" error message.
I then tried to delete the video transition and repeat the above for overwrite and replace, both times I got the same error.
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks

From your description there is no way either of these things should happen. Without seeing it I would guess there is something else going in your timeline or your clip which you're not telling us. *Perhaps there are I/O pints marked in the timeline*. Or the destination tracks are not set correctly. or something else.
    Thanks Tom, you are correct.
I have In Point & Out Point marked on the Timeline. I used it when I did FILE > EXPORT and left it there. But once I cleared it, I am able to replace it with another clip.
But I am still puzzled as to why I cannot do any overwrite or replace when there is I/O points marked on the Timeline ? Especially when the section of clips I wanted to overwrite or replaced are located outside of the I/O points ?
    Thanks

  • Insufficient content for edit, four point editing, ignore out point on source

    Hello folks,
I'm a long time FCP 7 and Avid editor currently using 8.2 for two short form museum films and have been running into all sort of questions.  This one comes up multiple times a day.  I tried to search for this here but didn't find my exact issue or answers.
I am trying to do a four point edit and I keep getting the "Insufficient Content for Edit" error.  My source is marked in and out for 5 sec and my timeline in and out is marked for 8 sec.  Four points total.  I have already checked the Ignore Source Out point in the Fit Clip window and have checked the "Remember" box as well.  My source definitely have enough footage to fill the marked 8 sec in the timeline.  So why isn't PP ignoring the source out point when I commit the edit?  Of course, I works properly if I go to the Source window and remove the out point manually but that's a pain and shouldn't be the way.  Is PP not capable of this? or Am I doing something wrong?  What is the point of the "Ignore Source Out Point" if it doesn't apply to this very common situation?
Thanks for any help you folks can offer.

I think I know what the issue is.
When the Fit Clip dialog opens for me and the source is shorter than the destination, "Ignore Source In Point" and "Ignore Source Out Point" are grayed out. In other words, when the source is shorter than the destination, my only option is to ignore sequence in or out points.
If my source is longer than my destination then it allows me to check ignore source in or out. However, if I have Premiere remember this choice, when I try to insert a source clip that is shorter than the destination, I get the error that you get.
It's obviously a terrible setup and shouldn't be like this, but that's why it's happening.

  • Why do I keep getting the error message "insufficient content for edit"?

I'm following a tutorial to create crawling text but when I come to superimpose it onto my video, I get the error message "insufficient content for edit"?
The crawling text lasts for 10 seconds.
    I'm confused

I usually get that error when I'm trying to cut in a shot that FCP decides is lacking in content. It might be a perfectly good shot on its own, but it doesn't really add to the story. When I step back and think about it, the program is usually right. I also sometimes get "Edit operation had no effect" which is a little harsh. I like to think my edits have some effect.

  • Hello. I appreciate your help. I am in FCP7 and trying to do Boris Vector Shape effect. When I try to pull the  vector shape square from the view window to the Superimpose, I get the message: insufficient content for edit. Why?

Hello. I appreciate your help. I am in FCP7 and trying to do Boris Vector Shape effect. When I try to pull the  vector shape square from the view window to the Superimpose, I get the message: insufficient content for edit. Why? I did this effect before and everything worked well. Thank you for your help.

Make sure that you have no active I/O markers on the Timeline (use Option X keys to clear them).

  • Replace Edit yields an Insufficent Content For Edit Error - Sometimes.

Here's the scenerio- I have clips of student artwork (NTSC video, not jpgs.) Each clip is approx 20 seconds long. In the FCP timeline, I have a template set up - v1 is the artwork, v2 is a slate for the student's name. Audio is not used. There is a "Cube Spin" transition between all clips. Clips in the timeline are 8 seconds long. Everything looks good. Now I want an easy way to change out the clips in v1.
I load my new clip into the viewer that I'm going to use to replace the first clip in the timeline. In the viewer, I set an in point approx 2 seconds in. v1 is targeted. I move the playhead to the start of the clip to replace. Hitting F11 to Replace works just fine. I'll move to the next one, and do the same. This is where the problem happens. Now it won't replace it. Or maybe it will. It works sometimes, and not others. When it doesn't work, I'm greeted with the "insufficient content for edit" message. To make it work, I don't (think) I do anything differently, except maybe move my playhead to another spot on the clip, and then back again, or just leave it out in the middle of the clip.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I can't find a pattern to why it won't work. At first I thought it was because I had a transition on the front or back of the clip, and it wouldn't replace that clip because of that. However, that's not the case because sometimes I can get it to work with transitions on both sides! I know there is enough pad on the video because the in point is 2 seconds in, the transition is only a total of 20 frames, the timeline clip is only 8 seconds, and my total source clip in the viewer is 20 seconds. I can't figure out what the pattern is and why I'm getting this error. If it doesn't work, sometimes I simply move the playhead around, and try again, and it works.
So.... Is this a bug or am I just missing something very simple?
    Thanks for the help!

  • "Insufficient content for editing" missage

Sometimes I get "Insufficient content for editing" message when sending a FCP audio track to STP, however an audio file is created and I can process it. It does not link to the FCP time line however. This seems liks a bug, Help

  • Import iPhoto slideshows results in "INSUFFICIENT CONTENT TO EDIT"

I created a small slideshow with iPhoto: FCP TEST.MOV
In some Final Cut Pro Projects I can Import the file.
But when I play the project I get a message: Turn Of unlimited RT.
The point is, I can't turn it of, because the only options I see is:
    - Play Base Layer Only
    - Use Play back settings
    - Full Quality.
In Another project I can set the Unlimited RT off.
But Then I Can't Import the "FCP TEST.MOV".
a message will pop up: *Insufficient content For Edit.*

    Turn Of unlimited RT
You need to choose the *Safe RT* setting, above Unlimited RT -they are mutually exclusive choices.
    Insufficient content For Edit.
The in and out points on your Timeline have a longer duration than the source footage "FCP Test.mov". Set the out point to a duration that is at least as long "FCP Test.mov" or, remove the out point in the Timeline and set in and out on "FCP Test.mov" in the Browser.

  • Reader XI still gives "insufficient data for image" error

Our fax machine creates .pdf files of the faxes and recently our back office has had trouble printing them. When I look at them they give an "insufficient data for image" error, but only on one page each. I've tried upgrading to reader XI but the problem persists. I've gotten around it by taking a screenshot and printing the one page that doesn't work so far, but I'd like to get this fixed. It only started happening today. I have a call in to our fax provider, but I was wondering if anyone here had any possible solutions.
    Thanks,
Also due to the nature of the documents I'm unable to provide a sample.

It is also happening to me (running v 11.0.2).  I tried adjusting the various settings under the "View" menu and at best could only see part of what was missing.  I resolved the issue by downloading and installing Foxit Reader.  Bingo! now I can see the entire document.

  • How to select a locale for parser error messages

Does anybody know how I can select a locale for parser error messages? I found org.xml.sax.Parser.setLocale, but that's for SAX1 and deprecated.
I have a textarea in the user interface where a user can edit XML and, of course, I'd like the parsing error messages to appear in the selected locale...
    Any help appreciated.
    - Michael

Yes, but doing this you changed the locale for the JVM! I know that. My intention was to see whether the parsers even had error messages in languages other than English. If they didn't then there would be no point in proceeding. But they do, so maybe there is some point.
However you don't get to specify the locale for exceptions thrown by other Java classes, so I wouldn't be surprised to find you don't get to specify the locale for exceptions thrown by XML parsers. I'm not saying there is no way to do that, only that I would not be surprised if there were no way.

  • Invalid Edit Error Message

Hey guys, i was using final cut pro 4 to edit a movie for our film fest, and out of nowhere, the program is not letting us drag any clips into the timeline, it pops up with a message saying invalid edit. I tried to see if there was anything in the sequence options menu to help out but it crashed everytime i tried to open the options. I updated to FC HD and updated Pro App support, the program now works and i can get into the options menu, but i still get the Invalid Edit error message whenever i try to add a clip to the timeline, im going insane. please help

Hey guys, bit of an update, i am not able to bring any clips into the time line unless i go in and set an in point and an out point for each clip manually before i bring them down. It didnt always used to be like this so if anyone knows how to turn off the setting or otherwise fix what may cause this to happen please let me know.

  • Need a BADI for raising error messages for equi update (IE02)

    Hi,
we are trying to raise few error messages while creating equipments through BADI's (Processing through IE02 and BAPI's).
No BADI's are supporting for raising error messages.
SAP doesnt support processing of userexits through BAPI's (refer note 564467).
we actually need to implement these checks and should available for all the below processes:
    Through IE02
    while doing through BAPI's
While Executing MASS CHANGE functionality (IE05)
Please suggest any other solution to achieve all the three at one go instead of creating some enhancements for every thing.
    thanks.

    Hi,
Try and search for a BADI....for transaction I102...take the package name and go to SE18 and see if BADI's are available...
Alternatively search for key CL_EXITHANDLER or get BADI in the main program of IE02..
if you are using SAP ECC6.0 then implicit or explicit enhancements will be available... Utilize them to meet your requirement...
    Thanks
