Insufficient Licenses (Basic (9.x))

Hi All,
We're having a few issues with cucm where it's showing we have insufficient licenses (image attached) we only have the 7821 and 3905 phones on site.
It's the first time we have come across this issue in 2 years, whats the best way to troubleshoot this sort of issue? We've tried removing some of the phones completely but that hasnt worked either.
Thanks,

Thanks Aman, just checking through the logs now found the following:

  • Insufficient License after installing device pack

I installed a device pack a couple of weeks ago to add support for new phones.  I am running CallManager 8.6.2.20000-2 and installed the 8.6.26154-1 device pack.  Ever since making that change, I have had a "License Warnings: System is operating on insufficient licenses.  Please upload additional license files" message whenever I log into CallManager.  We have two nodes installed (each running on a physical server).  I have confirmed that we have two licenses installed that each supports one node, but when I go to the License Unit Report, it shows 1 unit authorized, but 2 used in the node license feature.  I did not look at this before the upgrade (or don't recall), but should both nodes be listed in the report?  I have verified that the License Manager service is running on both nodes, so I don't think that is the issue.  Thanks.

    Hi Josh,
From the CUCM CLI check if you server has two CCM Node Licence. Either you will have one file cover both license or two different files having two licenses

  • ELM shows insufficient licenses after CUCM upgrade from 9 to 10.0.1

    Hi All,
I just finished upgrading cucm 9 to cucm 10.0.1. Upgrade completed successfully, but elm now shows insufficient license message.
This is a Vmware installation BTW, I doubt that it matters the CUCM 901 worked fine with its ELM.
The ELM is coresident with CUCM. I though that upgrading CUCM will upgrade ELM too, but the Dashboard says to upgrade to latest version of ELM.
When I ordered upgrade through UCSS and downloaded all the files that were included in this upgrade order, one of the files was CiscoPrimeLM_64bitLnx_10.0.1.10000-19.sgn.iso.
I tried to use CUCM OS administration with this file to upgrade ELM, but OS Administration doesn't recognize it as a valid file.
The file that I used for CUCM upgrade was: UCSInstall_UCOS_10.0.1.10000-24.sgn.iso
So at this point I'm not sure whether ELM needs to be upgraded or I need new licenses for CUCM version 10.

Upgrading co-res CUCM should have upgraded your ELM as well.  It should now show as Prime License Manager when you log in.  I'm guessing you just don't have any CUWL 10.x licenses installed.  Can you attach a screenshot of the License Usage page in PLM?
You may need to email [email protected] to move your 9.x licensing to 10.x licenses.

  • Basic (9.0) Unified CM Insufficient Licenses

    Dears,
Can anyone help us we have issue with basic user license its showing insufficient licences if you see on the table its mention in required 353 and total is installed 253 i need to how to add extra license in ELM....
    Regards.
    Syed..

    Hi Syed,
you need to purchase licenses. You would get the PAK code.
You need to visit the site www.cisco.com\go\license : License Administration Portal.
you need to enter the PAK code along with generated file [paste].This file u can get from ELM--license management--licenses ---other fulfilment options ---generate license request.
after u receive the file , again go to license management---licenses---other fulfilment options ---Fulfil licenses from file---browse the file and click on Install .
after that go to monitoring ---license usage ---synchronise now.

  • Education Licensing - Basic Questions

    Hi
I have some basic questions regarding licensing of student version of Adobe software (in UK).
    1) If I purchase an education version of an application and install it on a mac can I transfer it to a replacment mac in the furture?
    2) Can I upgrade it? For example, from Phtoshop CS4 to CS5 when it comes out?
    3) When my education programme finishes can I upgrade to the full commercial version?
    4) What are the limitations - upgrade, use of...etc - of the education versions?

  • Generate new License Request from ELM

    Hello everyone,
I am having a problem generating a new License Request from ELM.
It was required to me by Cisco Licensing in order for them to provide me a new License file.
Here are the steps that I made in generating a new License Request from ELM. (See attached file ELMaccess, LR1 & LR2)
I first accessed the ELM under CUCM administration.
Select License tab> Other Fulfillment Options> Generate License Request> Save to my computer
I received a .txt file (lic_req_201.....) and that certain file was the one I sent to Cisco Licensing.
    Cisco Licensing replied:
"It is still the same license request that you have here, just regenerated. What is needed is an entirely new and different ELM License request."
I am not really certain for what kind of License Request file that he wanted, or maybe there is a different procedure in doing this?
    Can someone help on this?
If I am missing something or if there is another procedure on generating a new License Request kindly guide me.
    Thank you so much.
    Kind regards,

    Hi mkchandak,
    Thank you for your response!
Yes we did, we actually at first generated a license request, submitted it to licensing and they provided us a license file. Now, upon the installation of the license file we received this error message "Insufficient Licenses".
We went back to cisco Licensing, a new engineer assigned to us, provided all the details he requires, our license case was approved by their Product Manager and now he requests for a "Newly Generated License Request".
I followed the same steps in generating a new License Request:
I accessed the ELM under CUCM administration.
So maybe he is referring to something other than the License Request that I have provided.
Maybe there is a different procedure in generating a "fresh and newly generated License Request"
If you know a step-by-step procedure in achieving this, please guide me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks again!

  • User License for Cisco CUCM 7.1.3

    Hi
I need 30 unit license for Cisco Communication Manager 7.1. But I found that it's already  end of sale.
I want the unit license part number for cisco cucm 7.1.3 version.
And i found revised part numbers for user license (CUCM-USR-LIC ) but those for 8,x versions. If i purchase that will it support in CUCM 7.1.3?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
CUCM 7 is already end of sale.
CUCM 7.1.5 supports UCL.If we refer the ordering guide of CUCM 8.5, you can get UCL licenses [Basic/essential].
    http://www.cisco.com/web/partners/downloads/partner/WWChannels/technology/ipc/downloads/UC_8_6_OG.pdf
What I think if u place the order , you should get the licenses and at the backened, it would be DLU.
You can also speak to Cisco SE for further clarity.

  • CUCM Demo License

    Hello,
I running CUCM with demo license is there a time limit to use this demo licenses?
    Regards
    Leonardo Santana

This is no longer true starting with ELM on CUCM 9.0. There are no licenses installed by default and ELM will shutdown the products after a grace period.
A 60 day grace period allows administrators to add users even if insufficient licenses exist within the ELM license pool. If sufficient licenses are not available once the 60 day grace period expires, then the Unified Communications application(s) will no longer allow any further changes; however, the application(s) will continue to function with no loss of service.
Unity Connection will outright halt services when the grace period expires.
Your only path for a permanent lab/demo would be to purchase an NFR kit.

  • BusinessObjects License

    Hi experts,
We are planning to deploy SAP BusinessObjects. We have decided to get 2 physical servers; 1 for Development & 1 for Production. But we are unsure about the legal licensing of SAP BO. Should we purchase two different licenses for each server or can we use the same license for both servers?
    Thank you
    Regards,
    Sha

Refer Blair's blog here to get basic understanding on basics of licensing.
    http://scn.sap.com/community/bi-platform/blog/2013/01/30/bi-platform-licensing-basics-csbls-and-named-users

  • BusinessObject's licensing

    Hello world!
I need help with understanding of licensing BusinessObjects.
For example somebody have 2 BO Enterprise Premium licenses for 1 CPU.
Does it mean that somebody have to use any quantity of servers with maximum 2 CPU on it or maximum 2 CPU (for example 1 CPU for production and 1 CPU on Dev).
Does 1 CPU license mean using on physical or virtual servers?
    Thanks for reply!
    Best regards.
    Artem!

    Hi Artem,
For SAP Licensing, please refer following link:

    2. BI Platform Licensing Basics: CSBLs and Named Users
For CPU based licensing, as far as I know SAP consider the 1st Core as One CPU and every additional Core as 0.5 CPU.
In case of Dual Core machine, it you would require 1.5 CPU licenses and for a quad core machines will require 2.5  (1 + 0.5 +0.5 + 0.5) CPU licenses.
But every agreement that is signed with SAP is different and depends on company to company.  Have a to look at your contract or contact your SAP Account Manager for more details.
    Hope this helps.

  • AD Certificate Services + SCEP+ licensing

    Hi
We are planning deploy CA on Windows 2012R2 AD CS for issue certificates for network devices using SCEP protocol.
What licenses we will need for that deployment ? only server license without CAL licenses for network devices ?
Issuing any kind of certificates on AD CS will need CAL licenses for device/user ?

    Hi Mawik,
Yes, we can issue certificates to users/devices without CAL licenses, although you may need CALs for other services like RDS and SQL.

  • Licensing Confusion in 10.5

I have read and read and read documentation regarding 10.5 licensing and cannot seem to get my head around it. Have had a TAC case open for a couple of weeks getting nowhere.
We are getting an error that we have insufficient licenses.
    My license usage shows
I understand that we need to associate a UserID to the devices.  However, before I manually do that in 3500+ devices I want to be sure I am doing it correctly.  We only have a handful of users with anything other than a phone and standard voice mailbox at this time, not sure why they are utilizing an enhanced license. My main question is how to handle Phones without Users.
For instance we have several hundred 7905s that are simply placed as courtesy phones. on campus use only, no user, no voice mail, no special services. Those are popping up as Enhanced licenses and I don't understand why, from all the things I've read they should take an Essential License.  The only things showing up under Essential License are our analog lines.
If there is someone out there who is familiar with this I would be ever so grateful for some guidance. If someone knows of a way to speak with the Cisco Licensing team directly without going through TAC I would appreciate that information as well.

My Apologies, I was ineffectively juggling too many things and did not clearly read your message.  this is what I have.

  • ACE License downgrade

    Hi All,
I had an issue with two ACE modules, working in active/standby mode. The active module was replaced after RMA and now I have active module with license ACE30-MOD-16-K9 and standby is with ACE30-MOD-08-K9. I have received the new ACE30-MOD-08-K9 lic file for the active module and now I need to downgrade active module license to ACE30-MOD-08-K9.
Does someone know what is the process to downgrade License from ACE30-MOD-16-K9 and standby is with ACE30-MOD-08-K9?
    Thanks in advance

Yes and no. You can't have competing licenses installed. But you can have a base license and an upgrade license installed. Upgrade licenses basically enhance the numbers of whatever license was before it.
As applies to what you are doing, if you have a backup ACE, you can turn off config sync, uninstall the license on the standby, re-install the correct license, then turn sync back on. It will re-copy all the configuration. You will want to backup you SSL certs/keys and script files prior to doing this since they don't sync.

  • License Issuses

I have a NetWare 6.5 SP7 server that I recently had to restore. I had a bad drive in the server and one that was about to go out. I was able to use ArcServe to recover data and get the server reloaded, but now I'm having trouble with licenses going back on the server. I have plenty of licenses available, but are not showing up on the server. Currently I have 5 users logging in using the grace licenses.
I have tried to apply the licenses in NWAdmin, but it acts like the tree does not see the server, even though I can administer users and devices in ConsoleOne.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!!

    Yes. Licensing basics:
6.0: You should have an NLS_LSP object for each 6.0 server, in its
container. A unique 6.0 server license object should be in the same
container as the server object(s), or above that in the tree, and
assigned to that server. If non-MLA, a 6.0 user (conn) license needs to
be in the same container as the user objects, or above that in the tree,
and not assigned to any server. Make sure the two license types are
    successfully being consumed.
Unique NetWare 6.0 licenses are available free at
    http://www.novell.com/licensing/eld/...ENCRYPTION=NW6
6.5: You should have an NLS_LSP object for each 6.5 server, in its
container. A 6.5 server license object should be in the same container
as the server object(s), or above that in the tree, and not assigned to
any server. If non-MLA, a 6.5 user (conn) license needs to be in the
same container as the user objects, or above that in the tree, and not
assigned to any server. Make sure the two license types are successfully
    being consumed.
