Insurance tab in asset master

What does the manual update field on the insurance tab in the asset master used for? When I tried to close the year in asset accounting, if that field is not ticked, it is giving an error. I was planning to run a CATT to tick that field for all the assets and also make it a required field. Let me know if that going to give us any issue in future.

In tcode oav5, we have maintained the index series from year 2004 to 2008. Do we have to maintain the index series for years before 2004.

Blank in depreciation area tab in asset master record

Hi,
While creating the asset master record, by mistake have ticked the deactivation check box in Depreciation Area tab of Asset master through transaction code AS01.
Later when I displayed the asset master record through transaction code AS03, I found that depreciation area tab is full of blank (No information).
Please help how to bring back that screen. (I have tried all screen layouts, but could not success)

Add custom tab in Asset Master

Dear Experts,
I would like to add a custom tab in asset master (AS01, AS02, AS03).
I have read through the documentation for enhancement AIST0002, but still don't know how to do it.
Can anyone please advise? Thanks a lot.

If you have create a proj in CMOD and activated the screen the new tab should be avaliable if it is not it might need some customizing try like below:
Transaction AOLK>>Select your Asset class click on General Assignment of Layout
Go to transaction AOLA. Copy the tab layout u2018SAPu2019 to create another layout, say, ZSAP.
System will copy all the settings and will inform you about that.
Select your newly created layout and double-click on the folder u2018Tab page titlesu2019.
You want to put your custom fields in the tab page u201CGeneralu201D. So, select this tab page entry and double-click on the folder "Position of Groups".
Here, all the field groups currently residing in the tab-page u201CGeneralu201D are shown. Add an entry for your newly created fields.
Select the group box from the list. An entry will come with u201CUu201D padded with the custom subscreen prepared by you.
Then, save and come out.
Now, go to tcode AOLK and assign tab layout ZSAP. for asset class 1000.
check now.

Investment order field is missing in origin tab of asset master (AuC)

Dear Experts,
While creating an asset master (AuC), the Investment Order field is not shown for the input, in the Origin Tab. Whereas for Asset master for the other Asset classes are showing this field for the input.
Please advice how can I get this field in the asset master under AuC asset class.

Hi,
First check the asset Scr.layout rule for asset class by using path -
Spro>Financial Accounting>Asset Accounting>Organizational Structures>Asset Classes-->Define Asset Classes
Select your asset class and check - asset Scr.layout rule .
Then go to -
Spro>Financial Accounting>Asset Accounting>Master Data>Screen Layout-->Define Screen Layout for Asset Master Data
Click on - Define Screen Layout for Asset Master Data
Select your Screen layout which you got earlier. In Logical Field group select 'Inv. account assignment'. and double click on field group rule.Then make required changes in 'Investment Order' as required - Required, optional, display.
Then check asset master data in AS02.

AW01N - Comparisons tab on Asset Master

Hi,
In ECC 6.0 version, I could able to see 2-3 years of data under comparisons tab on the asset master, even though the asset is having a life of say 40 years.
Am I missing any configuration step?

WBS on Time-Dependent Tab of Asset Master

OK, so my client wants to make this field changeable. Its currently populted with a WBS element, but greyed-out.
In configuration at the screen-layout rule, this field is required and maintenance levels are checked for both main and sub and copy is also checked. There seems to be no box for asset class at the maitenance level, so this should not be controlling if the field is changeable or not.
Can someone please help? also, other weird point, if i create a new asset and save it, I can change it. But I cannot change an old asset. I ownder if that's because it was already posted to???

Hey! I actually already checked that. It wasn't the problem. The problem was actually the account assignment was set so that if an item was already capitalized, we couldn't change it .... so i unchecked that box.

Tab layout for asset master

I am unable to find the tabs in assets accounting. Because at the time of asset master creation i am getting only 4 tabs. So i want to add some more tabs in the asset master. So how it is possiable to maintained the laout tab in the asset master.

I am explain the problem :
At the time of asset master creation i can found it only 4 tabs i.e general,time-dependent,Allication,Depreciation areas.
But i want some more tabs like Origin,Insurance,Networth tax. in Asset master records.
As per my knowledge i am maintained the one layout and in that layout cantains the all the tabs in asset accounting. That layout has been assign to respective asset class.
Eventhough i am not gettting the all the tabs in asset master. So i do for the my issue.

WBS in Asset Master

Hi All,
One Asset was mapped to WBS in Asset master at the time of creation (Origin tab in asset master). Now I want to de-link this mapping, or simply put remove/delete this WBS from asset master as client does not wish to settle the project to this Asset. This field is greyed out in AS02 and cant be changed directly. Any pointers on this this WBS can be removed from this mapping?

The only time I've seen what you're describing be the actual case, is when the asset main numbers are the same - but different sub-numbers (appended 4-digit field).
System can have main on the settlement rule, and actually settle to a sub-number instead (asset NOT on the settlement rule).
This happens when the asset master data of the receiver (the one on the settlement rule) does not match the master data objects for the sender AuC (asset under construction) or perhaps an internal order.
Scrutinize the master data for the asset on the settlement rule, comparing it to the sender and then to the one receiving the settled value. I think you'll find the receiver on settlement rule is not a good match. It may be possible to test this by inputting a deactivated date on the General tab of the sub-number (the one NOT on the settlement rule). Then, a settlement error message should be thrown telling you there is no sub-number asset that can receive the settlement.
It is coincidence that that sub-number has the WBS on its Origin tab.
Removing it from Origin tab will not stop settlements to the sub-number if I am correct.

Useful Life in Asset Master

Hello
We have created one fixed asset with a capitalization date as 20.10.2004.
In the Depreciation Areas, we have given the Depreciation Starting Date as "01.01.2008"
and rate of Depreciation is 16.21%
userful life maintained in the master data is 5 Years
Total Asset Acquistion value is 85.04$. System calculated the depreciation till 20.10.2009 from 01.01.2008 @ 16.21%. After that, the system is not calculated the depreciation from 21.10.2009.
Based on the above points, our understandings are as follows:
(a) System considered the capitlization date + useful life period for depreciation calculation. Hence no planned depreciation is appearing in AW01N from 21.10.2009
(b) System considered the rate of depreciation based on depreciation key (16.21%) even thou, the useful life is maintained as 5 years
Does my observations are correct ? please comment
Besides, we need the following suggestions from you
Does it possible to increase the useful life in the fixed asset master (since, the life period is not expired and finance wants to consider the depreciation amount from 20.10.2009 onwards till the asset exprie)
If yes, what is the step by step procedure to carry such changes ?

youare saying corret But you should be follow some rules for calucation of deprecation
System considered the capitalization date + useful life period for depreciation calculation not only this
the system should be consideration the depreciation key , useful life , periods , ordinary depreciation for calculation depreciation and in depreciation areas tab in asset master we have to maintain like 1depreciation key 2.useful life 3.periods 4. ordinary depreciation start .if we give ordinary depreciation start date 21.10.2009 system will be calculated depreciation 21.10.2009 onwards. then only system can run depreciation plan wise in AW01N .
first we give the ordinary depreciation start date in depreciation area tab in asset master .system automatically will calculate depreciation from these date on words.
here Depreciation key determines for calculating the depreciation amount which controls the base method , period control method ,multiple method , decline balance method.
which is possible to increase the useful life in asset master and also we can run depreciation from 20.10.2009 onwards till expire asset
for this configuration
1.Go for AFAMS multiple method and give the parameters such as acciquistion year , periods
2.we have to activate depreciation key in AFAMA
3.in as02 in depreciation area tab here we have to give the depreciation key , useful life , periods , ordinary depreciation start date

Flow of Data to Asset Master Record

Hi,
I created a Asset Master record. In 'Origin' Tab in asset master record, there is a space for writing Vendor NAme, MAnufacturer, Acquisition Year, Original Value, etc.
After i create Purchase Order or acquire asset through F-92, i noticed that vendor name, value, etc does not flow to the Asset Master Record.
Please let me now how the data will flow to asset master record ?
Am i missing any entry

please check the Tcode AW01N , this for asset explorer.
In this screen if you select Purchase Order in Object related to Asset tab from the left side of the screen , you will get all vendor details for particular asset.
You can able to see the Migo details also......

Accomodate tax package codes in Asset master record

Hello Gurus,
We are in process of doing conversion from legacy to SAP for one of the division.
This division are maintaining tax package codes in legacy information and want
to maintain in SAP system for reporting purpose.All of Evaluation groups are
being used for other purpose and there are no more for storing this information.
Please suggest me the best solution as what to advise the users and how to store
this information.

How can we have budgeted amount in asset master without using funds / investments management or PS. Just for information purpose we need to have budgeted amount entered in the asset master for reporting pupose.

Thanks for ur reply, it was informative but i am afraid this did not solve my problem.
My client's requirement is that, they want to input a figure as budgeted cost for a AuC asset, and at regular interval they want to have a comparative report which shows how much budget is utilised. We are not using PS or budget.
What i suggested is to use the field "Original Value" in the origin tab in asset master.
Now the problem is with reporting. How to get the comparative report now.
I developed a query but in the output i am getting only the assets for which some acquisation is done, those assets without any postings but with value in "Original Value" field of the asset master are not being reflected.
Can any body suggest what is to be corrected.

Screen Layout for Dep Area in Assete master.

Hi,
I am trying to display the fields "Expired Useful Life & Expired life -Period" in Dep areas tab of assets master.
My screen layout is 1000 Dep on main asset level.
i have assign this to Dep area in OAYZ.
I made these 2 filed optional in screen layout,even though i am not able to see these fields in asset master.
When i tried to other fields , it got effected.
What is the reason behind this?
Please provide me the solution to display these fields in asset master.

When i go to envirnment in aso2, it shows the screen layout rule with these fields as optional.
So i am not able to understand ,how to bring that fields?

Asset master -field status control

Iam creating Asset master (as01)..In Dep Area Tab in asset master I have
1)01 book dep
2)15 Tax bal.sht.
The problem here is the 15 Tax bal.sht dep.area is in dispaly mode ..so i cant input the dep key,useful life....
Can any one tell from wher I can change the status of the dep area 15 in asset master data from display to CHANGE.

Check the following T.codes:
OA77:screen layout for asset master data
OA78: for screen layout for asset depreciation area
before that you have confirm are you using group asset for tax depreciation

What is Investment order in Asset Master

hi,
my client wants to have investment order in Origin Tab of asset master. is it just an internal order which will be settled against this asset, I noticed some settings in plant maintenance for investment orders, does this have any relevance to this investment order field.
