Insyde BIOS Recovery Method ?

I have hp Pavilion dm3-1060ef Notebook PC & its "Insyde BIOS" is gone & my baby has no longer started. So I downloaded its BIOS from HP ftps & I decompressed its, so I found a folder named "Crisis" containing two files : "142E.bin" & "3649.bin". I am wondring which one is the correct file name to be used in the USB Stick to use the recovery method. Help me please to save my baby
Tomay

No, you only have to copy the files onto it, with the name AMIBOOT.ROM
It works ONLY with floppy, sorry.

  • Bios Recovery For ideapad laptops!!

    Goodevening, goodafternoon or goodmorning, whatever it implies for you.Today i would like to share some information on recovering bios after bios update failure or bad bios.Please follow the following steps.Disclaimer:- This would work for laptops with signs of life but may work for dead laptops.Download pheonix crisis tool and the respective bios files first. Now extract the zip file to the desired locationRun the bios .exe application where it will extract the main bios file. Go there and rename the bios file For.ex 30cn71ww.wph from that folder to bios.wph.Copy the Renamed bios file to the folder where you extracted the pheonix crisi tool.( extract it with wincrisis.exe file).Plug the usb stick ( not more than 4 gb or about 2-4 gb )Run wincris.exe > start > ok > ok > noNow plug the usb in the affected laptop and remove any power source such as battery and ac adapter.Hold Fn+R or Fn+f or Fn+B or Win+B key and then plug in adapter. Just after Plugging in the ac adapter, Press the power button .After this you will see the usb light blinking and hear the the fan running(yippe!!)You will then hear beep sound indicating that the bios is bieng reflashed. Leave the computer for about 5-10 Minutes. It will automatically restart. If it doesnt then restart the laptop manually. If everything went well then yippe your laptop is back and the bios recoverd with flying colours.This has been tested with the Lenovo Ideapad Y560 and it was suucesful!!!Hope this helps!!!Regards

    UPDATE!!!!!
    For the newer ideapads this method wont work because they have insyde bios. Below is link for the insyde bios recovery.

  • DV6-6000 LF372AV - Fails BIOS recovery

    I have a DV6-6000 Prod #LF372AV where the BIOS became corrupted.  Didn't attempt update, just failed out of the blue.
    First symptom is turn on PC, hear fan come on then immediately reboots.  Stuck in this cycle of rebooting forever.  With no error codes (such as not even Caps Lock LED blink) I guessed corrupted BIOS.
    I tried the Windows+B, but I've wiped this harddrive previously and the BIOS recovery partion was gone.
    So, I downloaded and ran the HP UEFI Support Environment Softpaq as directed here:
         http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c02693833.
    This partially worked.  With a Recovery BIOS loaded on the the USB flash drive, I can hold Windows+B at power up and BIOS loads off the USB key.  However, it is NOT replacing the corrupted BIOS on the laptop.
    According to the instructions, once the temporary BIOS is installed, a reboot should automatically occur.  Instead, NOW it stays on (no more spontaneous reboot cycle) and I get a 2 blink error code out of the Caps Lock LED.  It seems that the temporary BIOS loads into BIOS memory, but the stored BIOS itself cannot be overwritten.  As I stated earlier, if I reboot, I'm back to the original condition.
    So, it appears that the BIOS storage is bad. ???
    Even if that is the case, I don't understand why boot into BIOS stops at the error indicating BIOS is corrupted.  Obviously the mem copy of BIOS run off the USB flash drive is "more functioning" than the stored BIOS, but I still can't get far enough to get to the BIOS editor or any BIOS update utility.
    I tried a second method.  I downloaded the latest BIOS for this model laptop from HP support.  Then I extracted it and ran the updater.  It extracted an even newer version of the BIOS recovery tool onto my flash drive.  This had the exact same results as the UEFI Support Environment version of BIOS.  Therefore, two different versions of BIOS have failed to repair the corrupted BIOS and have failed to get me past the caps lock LED blinking twice.
    Any help would be most appreciated.

    Hi
    Workaround:
    There are few steps that has worked for few but not always..
    Restart and tap F2.  F2  will show an option “BIOS Management” . Select BIOS Management and then select “Roll Over to the previous BIOS”
    BIOS Management option will not be available if the system do not have HP_Tools partition installed or if it is deleted.
    Fix if BIOS Management is not available
    i)                    Press and Hold the Windows Key and B key at the same time when the system is turned off or follow the steps from this link: Recovering the BIOS using key press combination
    ii)                 Shutdown the Notebook. Remove the Hard Drive and then turn the computer ON and tap F10 to load BIOS. If it loads BIOS then it should rollback to previous BIOS or it might show a black screen. Just leave the system ON for about 2-3 mins and turn it on with the hard drive and check.
    Let us know how it goes!

    It would be very helpful if anyone who successfully recovered x121e would post here.

    Fixed it!
    So for everyone with same model and same problem: It turns out this bios really don't boot-block. So failed bios = paperweight brick without recovery options.
    But this is how I solved mine. Bought a SPI programmer, ic test clip (soic8) , some wires and made adapter to connect clip ind programmer. Had some problems , and had also to modify downloaded bios since I didnt have good backup but after little playing it fired right up. If you have good backed up rom, flashing should be easier. This is solution for those with more technical skills , but much easier than soldering the chip.

  • Ze4900 (ze4907ea) bios recovery assistance needed

    I think that i accidentally bricked the bios. The blue leds come on, the fan spins for a couple seconds and the screen stays black when the power key is pressed. I have read that there is a recovery mode when holding windows key + B at startup.
    The laptop is able to enter the recovery mode as it keeps beeping very loudly after the keys are pressed, one long and two short beeps at a time and repeating . The problem is: it just keeps beeping if i left it on and i have no idea what to do.
    So the main question is how to actually use the winkey + b recovery mode? I have searched a lot but didnt find any information how to use it. One thing that i have noticed, if a cd is inserted at any time the laptop starts spinning(reading?) it for a while. I know the laptop is old but it is very durable and important to me and im pretty sure that it is able to be recovered. Please take this seriously.

    Are you sure that crisis recovery method will work on my laptop or might there be another method for my laptop (its very important to know)? I dont currently have an usb floppy drive. Must I get one or can I somehow use a usb stick or cd? I have tried creating crisis recovery usb stick using wincris.exe but the laptop doesnt seem to read anything from the usb stick. I have also read that some sticks dont work while some do , smaller size sticks being better? I dont own very many usb sticks but i have tried with 2 different sticks and 2 different memory cards, none of them worked(the laptop didnt read anything from them). Second thing that I have read is that some usb sticks can emulate an usb-fdd. I wonder if it is true? That could possibly solve the problem for me but I still havent found a tool that could format my usb memory to pretend being an 1.44M usb-fdd. This is so complicated when it comes to guessing things. It would be very helpful if someone had any exact information for the specific model.
    Hi,
    Your issue is a rather complex one. There are companies that specialize in recovering a bricked BIOS. Search for one locally on the internet. As far as being sure that it is possible to recover your bricked notebook... no one can guarantee that.
    It is unfortunate, but you accepted the risk of bricking your notebook when you attempted to update the BIOS.
    The Service and Maintenence manual for your notebook states that your notebook supports booting from an external device. The trick is to make your USB thumbdrive bootable.  I believe you would find it far simpler to purchase and use a USB floppy diskdrive.  I am fortunate to own one that came included with a Compaq notebook I bought years ago (1996) that still works.
    I will supply a few links to help get you started on making a botable USB thumbdrive.
    YUMI multiboot USB Creator
    A tutorial from Windows Seven forums on how to make a bootable flash drive.
    How to make a virtual floppy
    There is a wealth of information on recovering bricked BIOSes at the MyDigitalLife forum.

  • MS-6702 (K8t neo) Flashed but now nothing, bios recovery doesn't work!!

    I updated my bios to the latest one a few weeks back and have been having problems with setting my apeture size to 256 (Noticed a few other people have too here!)
    So I reverted the bios back to the one before which I never had any problems with and now my board appears dead
    I get no post screen and the optical drives all constantly seek for some strange reason, I've since unattached everything apart from my agp card, ram, processor and floppy drive in a bid to get bios recovery to work. Sadly it doesn't even try to read the floppy and just sits there feeling sorry for itself.
    The LED bracket stays at 4 red lights but nothing else happens. I've had this rig for over 5 months so I know it's not the components before anyone suggests it.
    This is doing my head in, thanks MSI firstly for releasing a buggy bios and secondly for killing my board
    PLEASE HELP

    Have you tried clearing CMOS?
    If that doesn't work your board is probably beyond recall.  You have two choices:
    1. Try to RMA it to MSI or your vendor.
    2. Replace the BIOS chip
    I have used (2) on several occasions with other vendor's systems.  This works if the chip is socketed.  I use BIOSFLASH.COM (http://biosflash.com/) - you have to ID your chip, tell them what you have, pay some money and e-mail them a copy of the binary you want programmed.  They have a well-documented procedure on their website.
    I would recommend getting at least two chips - one known good and one with the latest BIOS.  That way you can recover from another problem like this one.
    Looking at the example K8T Neo2 ATX board on MSI's site the BIOS is socketed but that may not be true of yours.  I have a K8MM-ILSR with a soldered BIOS here, so not all their BIOS chips are socketed.
    BTW, which method of flashing did you use?  From DOS, I hope...running a BIOS flash from Windows is a recipe for disaster (that's why I know about BIOSFLASH.COM)

  • Toshiba A105 BIOS Recovery Process Questions

    Hi!
    Ive got a Toshiba Laptop A105-S4284, Model #: PSAA8U-0FH02K that froze while trying to flash the BIOS. Now, when I try to boot it up, it gets stuck in the same place it did during the flashing; on the Toshiba splash screen with the status bar at the bottom showing about 20% complete. Options available on this screen are: Press F2 for System Settings and F12 for Boot Menu. Pressing F2 results in a beep and the status bar is replaced with the text "Please Wait..." but nothing else happens no matter how long I wait. Pressing F12 doesnt do anything. Pressing ESC takes me to a screen that shows the typical system info -- Phoenix Technologies Version 6.00; Intel Calistoga CRB.T3A Reference BIOS; VERSION.MAK 1.53. It looks like its at least partially POSTing since it shows CPU, Cores, No TPM or TPM has a problem, and system RAM and stops there. I cant get into the BIOS and cant boot into Windows.
    Ive read the posts on here regarding the BIOS Recovery Process and was hoping someone could provide some clarification for me, especially since Ive already waited a week with no reply on another tech support site forum. :-(
    Anyways... Ive downloaded the Crisis Recovery.zip files to create a Recovery Disk and am trying to follow the instructions.
    There are a bunch of files in the .zip and Im not sure exactly which files I need to have on the boot disk Im creating.
    The files in the .zip are:
    - crisboot.bin
    - CRISDISK.BAT
    - makeboot.exe
    - minidos.sys
    - phlash16.exe (actually PHLASH16 version 1.6.5.4)
    - wincris.exe
    - wincris.hlp
    Ive downloaded the BIOS Update from Toshibas website for the A105-S4284. Which file do I need to rename to BIOS.WPH and add to my Recovery Disk directory? Do I want "s10gm600.rom" or "1988d600.ima"? I extracted the file from the bootable BIOS installation diskette (1988d600.exe) to get the 1988d600.ima file.
    I ran wincris.exe and only the following files end up in the directory Ive designated for my Recovery Disk:
    - BIOS.WPH
    - MINIDOS.SYS
    - PHLASH16.EXE
    Do I need any of the other files from the original .zip?:
    - crisboot.bin
    - CRISDISK.BAT
    - makeboot.exe
    - wincris.exe
    - wincris.hlp
    If someone could provide some clarification on which files to use and most importantly, if those are the correct files for the laptop Im trying to fix. I think all the posts Ive read are for laptops newer than this one and it seems the secret to succeeding at recovering a BIOS is using the CORRECT files. Ive searched all over and cant find any posts from someone with an A100/A105 who has been able to do a BIOS Recovery from a CD, USB floppy or USB flash drive.
    Is there ANY hope?
    Thanks in advance for your time and assistance with this; its GREATLY appreciated.
    Sarah ;-)

    Hi Sarah,
    I had the same thing happen to my A105 4094.  I've looked at some of the other blogs, but I'm not sure if I should try the corrective action they suggest.  Not sure how common the different models are.
    I'm going to keep trying to resolve this.  If I find something that works, I'll write again and let you know.  Please do the same for me and other A105 owners.
    Thanks,
    Jamie

  • Dv6748us how to make a bios recovery usb

     how to make a  bios recovery usb?

    Hi!
    You can download new BIOS versions on the Toshiba website. Search for your model and select BIOS update
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com
    Download the right file and follow these instructions:
    Extract the zip file containing the BIOS upgrade to a temporary folder.
    Make sure that all open files are saved and all applications are closed.
    Execute the extracted *.exe file in the temporary folder. Follow the instructions on the screen.
    The BIOS update will be done automatically.
    After a few minutes the Notebook will restart automatically.

  • Which one is the Best Backup and Recovery Method in your point of view?

    Friends,
    Currently we are taking hot backup with archive mode.
    we have backup script to copy the datafile and we will copy the archive files in a separate folder.
    alter tablespace system begin backup;
    host cp /u01/app/oracle/oradata/livedb/system.dbf /u02/online_backup
    alter tablespace system end backup;
    like the above script we will copy all the other data files.
    then in the test environment. we will copy the datafile and archive file.
    we will be recovering by using the below statement.
    sql>recover database until cancel using backup controlfile.
    currently no problem in backup and recovery.
    What i want is......
    is there any other sophisticated and safe way to take a backup and restore it to another server?
    if yes, can anybody point out the steps or link.
    I have heard about......
    DataGuard
    RMAN
    EXP/IMP
    but i never used the above.
    Thanks
    sathyguy

    DataGuard
    RMAN
    EXP/IMP ...
    The only real backup/recovery method here is RMAN, Oracle's integrated backup/recovery tool, which I prefer. As an example for a fully functional RMAN command see 'backup database plus archivelog delete all input'. This statement provides a complete hot database backup including archivelogs and deletes at the successful end all archivelogs in all destinations . Compare this statement with all the steps necessary to do the same job manually. Don't worry you have many ways to finetune your backup.
    For more informations there's a quick start guide:
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/backup.102/b14193/toc.htm
    Dataguard is a high availibility tool, which provides a kind of backup in terms of having a logical or physical standby database. When primary side fails you can switch to this standby database. Such a constellation does not mean, database backups are no longer necessary.
    Export/Import is a logical backup, still often used to recover from human errors (you accidentally dropped a table for example). Don't use it as a replacement for physical backups, especially hot backups,in case of media failures you always will have loss of data, because changes made afterwards the export are not captured.
    Once again I recommend you seriously should consider RMAN.

  • Toshiba Recovery method - Which set up is the best

    I have purchased a new lap top and on set up it is asking me to select a recovery method. Options are
    - Recover to out- of -box-state (System Recovery Options are included)
    - Recover without changing the hard drive partitions
    - Recover to a custom size partition
    Which is the best option to select?
    I am thinking that the custom would be the best once I have made my recovery discs after full set up but want to be sure.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks smilee

    Hi
    - *Recover to out-of-box-state (System Recovery Options are included)*
    This Option sets your notebook back, to the Factory default status. The partitions will be deleted and created again, as they have been on the first boot.
    Note: All data will be lost and HDD Recovery Option will still be available, if you want to recover your notebook again.
    - *Recover without changing the hard drive partitions*
    All data on the first partition will be lost and HDD Recovery Option will be still available, if you want to recover your notebook again.
    - *Recover to a custom size partition*
    All data on the HDD will be lost and HDD Recovery Option will not be available anymore, if you want to recover your notebook again. Be sure to have a recovery DVD created for the future

  • LAST ORA-1578 RECOVERY METHOD

    제품 : ORACLE SERVER
    작성날짜 : 2002-04-12
    LAST ORA-1578 RECOVERY METHOD
    =============================
    Purpose
    Ora-1578 error 에 대한 조치 방법에 대해 이해하도록 합니다.
    Problem Description
    일반적으로
    ORA-1578 : ORACLE data block corrupted (file # num,block # num)
    은 해당 objects를 drop하고 recreate하여 처리할 수 있읍니다.
    하지만, backup이 안되어 있거나 되어 있더라도 시점에 문제가 생기면,
    당황할 수 밖에 없습니다.
    Solution Description
    이 자료에서는 손상된 db block만을 제외한 다른 block들을 recover하는
    방법을 알려 드립니다.
    1. 손상된 table과 똑같은 spec의 new table생성
    2. 아래의 pl/sql 실행
    ** This program uses a cursor to select the ROWID from INDEX
    ** for the corrupted table. And insert the all of the normal rows
    ** into the new table.
    DECLARE
    CURSOR c1 is
    SELECT ROWID FROM corrupted_table
    WHERE indexed_column > smallest_value_of_the_indexes
    AND SUBSTR(ROWID,1,8) != '000005DA';
    /* Here,the value of '000005DA' is displayed in decimal
    when ORA-1578 error happens. */
    rowid_value CHAR(18);
    count_value NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    OPEN c1;
    FOR i IN 1..total_number_of_the_rows_from_corrupted_table LOOP
    FETCH c1 INTO rowid_value;
    EXIT WHEN c1%NOTFOUND;
    INSERT INTO new_table
    SELECT * FROM corrupted_table WHERE ROWID = rowid_value;
    count_value := count_value + 1;
    IF count_value = 10000 THEN /* Let's think commit per 10000 rows */
    COMMIT;
    count_value := 0;
    END-IF;
    END LOOP;
    CLOSE c1;
    END;
    3. new table의 data건수등 확인후에 기존 table을 다른 이름으로
    rename한 후 new table을 original table name으로 rename
    SQL> rename corrupted_table to table_save;
    SQL> rename new_table to corrupted_table;
    4. 필요한 index생성이나 constraint enable
    5. 손상된 row에 대한 내용은,
    최소한 primary key나 indexed columns에 대한 내용을
    SQL> spool chk.log
    SQL> select rowid,indexed_column1,indexed_column2,indexed_column3...
    from corrupted_table
    where indexed_column1 > smallest_value_of_the_index;
    SQL> spool off
    를 통하여 chk.log에 저장후,
    SQL> select count(*) from corrupted_table;
    혹은 table export등을 통하여 확인된 rowid의 block number를 비교하여
    보면 됩니다.
    주의사항은 여기에서 ora-1578과 동반되는 block number는 decimal이니,
    hexa로 환산해야 합니다.

    The files that i find in BIOS package (support/dv6-2000/driver/ecc) wasn't the same file that the guide use to restore BIOS via USB.   The guide isn't specific for this pc and the other online guide(not official) used or CAB.rom package o same files colled bios.wph or other exstensions.
     i could know that files copyng on usb after formatting(hp format tool?) (uefi support assistant??) and that executable put it in to recived the feedback in this page : http://h10010.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02723600&lc=it&cc=it&dlc=it     (HP BIOS UPDATE)
    Thanks a lot, im in panic.

    Hi @kridrina
    Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
    I understand that you are getting a double LED flash pattern on startup, meaning a BIOS problem. I am happy to help.
    Had you deleted the contents of HP_Tools at some point in the past?
    It sounds like you went straight to trying to make a usb flash device to repair/reinstall the BIOS. Have you tried a basic BIOS restore from the saved image? Mainly using the Windows+B combination as described in this page.
