Integrate Barcode with Material Master

Dear Gurus,
My requirement is to integrate barcode with material master, such that if I scan the barcode, the material number to be automatically populated from the master while creating PO or a transfer posting.
Please let me know the possible means/procedures to do this..

To display in account assignemnt you to activate OR in SPRO settings .
Moreover OR must be assigned to GL account in SPRO .
SRM Server ® Cross-Application Basic Settings ® Account Assignment ® Define Account Assignment Categories
Supplier Relationship Management ® SRM Server ® Cross-Application Basic Settings ® Account Assignment ® Define G/L Account for Product Category and Account Assignment Category- Here your account assigment category /product category (material group) OR linked with GL account.
You must defined in KNT attribute as a OR in POMA_BBP.

Program to update info record with material master data

I am trying to determine if there is a standard SAP program that can be run as a batch file to update the fields in the info record with the same fields that are in the material master? ie: Planned delivery time, Tolerance, purchasing group etc.

Hi,
There is no standard report or transaction that can do this.
The data from these fields in the material master is brought in as a default to the info record when it is created. beyond this point the Info record is treated as being the correct data regardless of what happens to the material master data and so no updates occur in the standard system.
It would not be difficult to build an LSMW job to copy the data from the material master to the info records and this would be the recommendation if you want to do this.

Some of the items in the Material Master have a barcode , I need to know how to create a barcode and then how to assign it to a Material Master , So when i use the Barcode reader it refer to the Material number

Problem with material master number range

Hi,
we have a problem with the material number range when stop the transaction of creation a material master data (MM01) the system has a jump of number range.
Example -> while creating a new material master the system gives me a number preview (46) but if I stop the transanction without save the master data the system doesn't give me the number 46 in the next master data but give me the next number 8in this example 47).
It there a way for not have this jump of number range?

Problem with material master

HI
I am trying to change the material master profit centre but the system is giving me the error message
You want to change the profit centre but there are still material stocks

This is little urgent

u cannot change the mmr if there is any stock exist,any open orders (mm,sd,fi) exist.
to chage the mmr u have to make the stock zero and also close all the open orders.
solution is either create a new material.
or u can create a dummy material codethen transfer the stock to the dummy material code-close all the open orders-change the profit centre in the original material code-then again transfer the stock from the dummy material code to the original material code and delete the dummy material code.

Problem with Material Master Data Upload using MM01?

Dear Abapers,
I done recording for uploading Material Master using MM01. I selected respective views at the time of recording. Then at the time of uploading it is not selecting the Quality view and Account1 view. Even I used 'P+' function code. it is working but not selecting the 2 views. Manually, if I select those 2 views uploading successfully.
Could you please let me clear on this issue?

Hi Chandrasekar,
Scrolling in the view-selecting screen wont be recorded during SHBD ( Recording ).So you need to first select Basic data1 rather than Accounting 1 or Quality management.Once you are in the basic data screen, fill the required description( if its unavailable ) and then choose the accounting 1 or quality tab.Do a fresh recording with the above approach, your issue should be solved.

Documents management with material master???

Can anybody explain , i have updated drawings in material master . For eg ABCD is material code .
For the ABCD material i have uploaded some drawings in SAP system.
Here i think , who are all having access for MM03 transaction , they can see the drawing for tht material (ABCD).
My requirement is , drawing should display only for Production people. example user id wise.(only production user id the drawing should display, that too not for all materials , for few materials.)
I have cretaed some 100 materials for example.If u go to MM03 we can display 100 materials details including drawing ..
I need some authorisation block for few materials in that 100 materials , for eg , for 20 materials drawing should not display in MM03 for all SAP users
Only for some USER ID it should display. there is any possibilities ???

It is possible to have different screens for different user groups. You need to create new material master sequence without drawing number details and give that to users who should not see drawing details. Check the customization steps in the below config. Spro-> Logistics General---> Material master ---> Configuring material master.
In this you can define user wise screens also.
I think I already answered you.
A quick example
Scenario
For your purchasing agents Kirk, Scott, and McKoy, you want to create a screen sequence containing the following screens:
Basic Data
You want this data screen to include the following unchanged subscreens from the Basic Data 1 view in the standard material master:
Material description
General data
Dimensions/EANs
Purchasing/Storage
You want this data screen to include the following subscreens:
General data (from the Plant Data/Storage 1 view in the standard material master)
Purchasing values (from the Purchasing view in the standard material master)
You also want this data screen to include an additional subscreen containing the following fields from the Purchasing view in the standard material master:
Purchasing group
Material group
Order unit
Procedure
1. Carry out the IMG activity Create Program for Customized Subscreens. This requires you to do the following:
a) Create a function group of your own, for example, with the name YENTERPRISE (steps 1 and 2 in the documentation for the IMG activity above).
b) Copy subscreen SAPLMGD1 2301 (Purchasing Data: General Data) to SAPLYENTERPRISE 2301, and subscreen SAPLMGD1 2701 (Storage Data: General Data) to SAPLYENTERPRISE 2701 (steps 3 to 7).
c) Remove all fields from subscreen SAPLYENTERPRISE 2301 with the exception of the Purchasing group, Material group, and Order unit using the Screen Painter (transaction SE51) (step 8).
Make sure that the fields you have removed are no longer included in checks. You do this by searching for the fields in the source code and making the lines in which they appear comment lines.
Using the Screen Painter, rename the frame text of both subscreens as follows:
General data -> Purchasing data: General data

When i am trying to upload data i am getting the following error "The field MARC-MTVFP/BAPI_MARC-AVAILCHECK is defined as a required field; it does not contain an entry".

is it possible to restrict users to do not issue the excess quanity of child components which are lying with PO in sub-contracting process,
in detail i have one PO with 10 qty each of two child components,
i have issued 5 each quantity of that components wrt to the PO through MB1B and 541 mvt,
again when am trying to issue components with same PO for remaining qtys , but standard system is showing defaultly the PO qty ( 10 ), i need to restrict the users to do not issue the 10 qty in this time and 5 qty only,
please give me clue to restrict this,

Connecting tif image stored in DMS with Material Master

I am storing tif images into DMS. I would like to connect them to the material masters they represent. What would be the best way to go about this process?

Relating product compilaence with the material master in SAP R3 system

Please can you help me to mark a material in relation to the product compilance or regulatory requirements like RoH, CSA, EC, Copy exact in the SAP Standard process. please note that we are not using SAP EH&C and the client is asking this requirrement in the SAP R3 System. Is this possible to link this with material master? If so can u kindly explain me on this please.

If you do not use EH&S one option is to use a material class to mark the matrial as Rohs etc. relevant. As this is only a matter of storing infomation not futher process is linked to this data maintenance. If you wouldlike to use this stored data e.g. in SD, MM or PP processes you have to do it by your own programming. SAP EHS Management on the other hand gives you a number of options to use data like RoHs wich is store in EH&S further processes.
In any case: srtong recommendatino would be: do not try to use a lot number of material classes to do the same lik you are doing in EH&S.
Regarding regulatory demands EH&S is a "must" and wel integrated in SAP process (e.g. GTS, BW, SA Procudt and REACH Compliance Suite etc.)
Using EH&S is not such a "big" problem and there aer many companies which can assist in using EH&S .

We want to implement an interface with material master records to be sent to our customers. This interface is proposed to be in XML. Can you please provide me with links or documents that explain how to integrate XML within SAP regarding master data maintenance.

they can give much more idea about this. Using BSP you can evaluate this requirement.

Restrict material groups at PR/PO creation for items w/o material master

Dear SAP experts
I have one question related to restricting material groups which are possible for selection during purchase requisition or purchase order creation.
The material group is created and several material master records are linked to it. Now the requirement is that when users are creating either purchase requisitions or purchase orders it shouldn't be possible to select that specific material group>
But this should be valid only if PR or PO are being created for items without material master record. If PR/PO is created for item with material master record then the restriction should not take place.
What would be the nicest solution to achieve that?

Thank you very much for your answer. i think it is a very good starting point.
However I am not too familiar with authorization group configuration of material groups.
Right now in our system (transaction OMSF) field authorization group is empty for all existing material groups.
Does this mean that for the material group that I want to have restricted I need to have two entries: one with Authorization group ZOK and another with ZNOTOK (or whatever the naming would be)?
Furthermore I would like to ask you where is then the link between authorization group and user exit?
And thirdly: do you perhaps have some more details which user exit(s) are relevant for our topic?
