Integrate Document Builder to SRM PPS using Web Service
Well, if what you want to see is the "Document Builder" link from "Related Links" of your RFx document, what you need to do is to configure it in IMG :
SPRO - SRM Server >> Cross-Industry Functions >> Integration with Document Builder >> Activate Document Builder Integration
There you should specify an entry with the following:
DB DocTypes: Object Type EBP Local RFx
And the URL to the Doc Builder webDynpro application in the format of https://<server:port>/sap/bc/webdynpro/ipro/wd_docb
And be sure to check that checkbox marked with "+" on the column header.
Hi Jay,
Ok thats done. Still i we need to do the Web Service activation through SOAManager rite. Correct me if i am wrong.
There are 2 parts to look into it.
1. We can use the OLD Proxy Method used as Web Service.
2. Integration with SAP XI. (Note: PID is available in System Landscape)
We took the discussion to go with OLD Proxy Method used as Web Service for now, Since its working in Sandbox.
We created a client proxy ZDOCB in SE80 and activated it using the wizard.
we created a Logical Port in LPConfig.
And when checking for Web Service in WSADMIN, we are not able to find the Old Proxy used as Web Service.
We can use SOAManager instead. Since its not Configured in Sandbox, we went and configured in the old transaction itself (WSADMIN, LPCONFIG).
If its feasible, can we do in SOAManager also.
Objective:
to get the Document Builder reflected in the Related links of RFx and Contract.

Freemind

Integrate Document Builder to SRM (wihtout using PPS or XI)
Hi all,
I am using SRM 7.0 and I want to use the Document builder with SRM without activation the PPS (Procurement for Public Sector) business scenario and without XI.
I looked at some documentation at the service market place
https://websmp204.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000676863&
and also found the Wiki entry:
http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/DocBuilder/DocumentBuilder3ContentConfiguration+Guide
But the first seem to imply the use of PPS, and the second one describes the configuration of a stand-alone mode, which means that Document Builder is not integrated to another component.
Can anyone give me any advice on how to integrate the document builder into SRM without using PPS or XI?
Thanks very much.
Regards
UlrikeHi,
Thank you, Roman, for creating the helpful instructions on integrating Document Builder with HCM using Web Services (Cross-application synchronized integration - SAP Document Builder - SCN Wiki).
Document Builder can be integrated to any SAP application in a similar fashion to how Roman describes in his link; however, in the case of SRM with Procurement for Public Sector (PPS) there is out-of-the-box configurable integration available that shortcuts this process. Licensed PPS customers can access the PPS integration aide by activating the PPS switch.

Records management and Document builder in SRM with PS
Hi,
We are implementing SRM 5.0 with PS ( Public section), can any one share any experience and documentation about Records management and Document builder in SRM with PS.
Thank you
Sreedhar VetchaHi Chris,
I am having the same issue as Patrizia while using BSP, SRM_DEMO_RECORD & SRM_DEMO_BSPEXT, to search/display, maybe update later the records, documents, and notes that are stored in RM. I have read all the documentation described in your messages as to how to customize web display BSP application using these 2 BSPs, srm_demo_record & srm_demo_bspext.
I tested SRM_DEMO_RECORD with <srm:element> tag embbeded in the layout page, but it lists only the records that associated to a given RMS_ID and SPS_ID, and I wasn't able to get it to display the associated document and notes for a selected RM record. The comments on the iview page in BSP suggest the custom code is needed for initial request from browser and callback event to return the notification for the activities occurred in RM. As you suggested to Patrizia, I wonder if you've some sample code that i could use to make these BSPs work before additional enhancements is needed later. As far as other prerequisit settings of http access and assigning search interface class to the correct service provider element type using GENSP_QUERY_EXT connection parameter are all properly set with my customer. So i'd feel really grateful if you could forward me the example codes for these BSPS.

How to integrate Microsoft and SAP using Web Services?
Hi All
How to integrate Microsoft and SAP using Web Services? If any one has document please send it to me. My id is [email protected]... Please
Help me
Best Regards
Ravi ShankarHi Ravi,
This is for Customizing Email and Other Web Services.
Create addresses
The address maintenance of R/3 users is carried out either via the R/3 User Maintenance (Transaction SU01) or the Private office settings (Transaction SO12):
Address --> Other communication...
Selection of the required communication service.
Enter address.
Copy or save.
b) Configuration of SAPconnect (Transaction SCOT)
Set communication method
4.0 + 4.5: Goto --> Customizing --> Communication methods
as of 4.6: Settings --> Communication methods
Set the method of the required communication service to the value 'SAPCONNECT' and save the setting.
Customized the same for Internet mailing.
C) If you want to Transfer Table Structure Values from SAP R/3 to Web Services then
1. Create BAPI and Transfer whichever things you want.(Note: The Structure
of BAPI should be similar to Web Structure (Datatypes).
2. Create a BDC and Schedule it in the Background.
Hope it helps you, Awaiting for the Reward Points.

Using Web Service as Data source (Pluggable Data Source) in Oracle Reports
Anyone using Webservice as a pluggable data source in oracle 10g reports.(Report builder version:10.1.2.0.2)? We need to be able to use web service as one of the data source to create reports.Tried the following and ran into issues:
Imported the wspds.jar fle from oracle plugin exchage. When tried using it received the following error in oracle reports trace file.
04/26 22:27:22 java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: oracle.xml.parser.schema.XSDBuilder.build([Loracle/xml/parser/v2/XMLDocument;Ljava/net/URL;)Ljava/lang/Object;
By troubleshooting issue found out that xmlparserv2.jar in 10g is newer than xmlparserv2.jar in 9i. wspds.jar is using xmlparserv2.jar in 9i as it was developed and tested for 9i only. Believe there is no newer wspds.jar file developed specifically for 10g?
Is there a better/standard solution to use webservice as data source in oracle 10g reports? Does later version of oracle reports supports webservice as a data source without any additional plugins? Any suggestion would be helpful. Please provide support for the above request.
It appears that Oracle 10g reports doesn't support Web Service as pluggable data source. Is this option is available in Oracle 11g Reports or Oracle Discoverer Or OBIEE? -
How to use web services in JSF app
I am unsure if this is the right forum for this question. Let me know if it is not - and where I should go.
Anyways, I'm building a JSF web app, in which there is a datatable page displaying some business data. The app is going to be deployed and run in the customer's web server, but the data to be displayed is from the business solution provider's database. Currently the provider supplies web services to retrieve the data. So, my task is to call these web services from my JSF page, get and display the data.
I've never used web services before. Can someone give me a quick start, as what I need to know to use these web services, and how to use them in coding terms. I googled the web quite a bit and finally decided to turn to SDN forum.

The first testing the connection wizard and the second while trying to use the "Find Web Services" Wizard. I was following the "Creating and Using Web Services" paper and was using their search criteria "ab%". I am sure that my proxy settings are correct. (Also, if it wasn't correct wouldn't I be failing on the initial request instead of the response?)

Exposing legacy-system's service using web services
Hi everybody,
I have questions about how web services can be used with legacy system.
Lets say I have a server serving stock data. The server is just POJO, it isnt web module, doesnt run on any J2EE container and client will request for data using my proprietary API which run over TCP/IP. My question is that what is the best practice or widely used pattern for exposing my stock service through web services.
Im not a web service expert so I think the easiest patter may be using web services as an adapter for my API. Ill use jax-rpc to create web services StockWS.war and deploy it on a web server running on the same machine with my stock server. The web services will, in turn, internally use my proprietary API to request data.
I can see 2 problems in the above approach.
1. The need of web server. Administrator needs to start 2 processes; stock server and the web server containing StockWS.war. It would be great if I can get everything work in one process. Is there any framework or API that my stock server can internally use to intercept soap request over HTTP so that I dont need a web server and everything is encapsulated in one process?
2. Performance. There will be my API sit between web services runtime layer and my stock server which may cause performance issue. If I can find a framework Ive mentioned in problem1 then I can get rid of the API layer.
Please ignore my grammar mistakes.
Any suggestion is welcome, and if you have experiences integrating web services with your legacy system, feel free to share it here.
Thanks in advance.Hi,
With regards to your statemetn "SDN downloaded document says to Generate Webservice URL through ABAP" <- can you tell me more please? references/links/attachment?
As far as I am aware, that the type of web service required for integration it a 'normal' Netweaver Web app server web service.
There are limitations about the complexity of the WSDL - see Notes:
1653655 - Limitations in Web Service WSDL URL usage in Xcelsius 4.0
1703839 - Limitations of Web service usage in Xcelsius / Dashboard Design
also , changes between SAP versions requires reworking the WSDL
Note 1625091 - The WSDL URL for web service which generated in SAP Enterprise Central Component cannot be loaded into Xcelsius

For you question you want to get data from data base using web service connection. Here I can give you some suggestions
1.Write a web service to retrieve data from data base, then use Xcelsius u201Cweb service connectionu201D under u201CManage Connectionu201D section to consume the service and get the data from data base to spread sheet.
2.Xcelsius also provide you a tool to generate web service with easy way (without coding). (Suggested)
Using flynet, you can get flynet installation file under Xcelsius installation folder u201CXcelsius\Connectivity\Flynet Webservice Generatoru201D for more information about flynet please refer to

Why should I use Web Services?
I am managing an Internet project for my company. We exhaustively use IIS, ASP and SQL 2000 Server and until today we feel very comfortable with those tools. We successfully developed some COMs also to make additional work. As a personal interest in my free time I am learning Java. I began two months ago and using certain APIs downloaded from the net I could develope applications and applets for an SMS messaging system interacting with a real cellular phone provider. I also had to learn about RMI and implement it in this project. That system now is working nice. So I was encouraged to learn more about Java and I found the Web Services world. Everybody is talking about it(and .NET of course), in the net, in magazines etc.. So, I decided to learn about Web Services.
I read these paragraphs at the beginning of the Web Services Tutorial:
"In a typical Web services scenario, a business application sends a request to a service at a given URL using the SOAP protocol over HTTP. The service receives the request, processes it, and returns a response. An often-cited example of a Web service is that of a stock quote service, in which the request asks for the current price of a specified stock, and the response gives the stock price. This is one of the simplest forms of a Web service in that the request is filled almost immediately, with the request and response being parts of the same method call."
Maybe I am not able to understand the concept but this is more or less what I get using for example an ASP or an RMI or a Servlet, don't I?. Ok, there is no SOAP involved in those methods mentioned but still I have a request, and response and so on. So, what is the advantage I will get working with a Web Service?. Can anybody explain me?
Regards,Here are a few reasons why. Enjoy!!

What Can Amazon Web Services Be Used For?
Although Amazon Web Services is a cool technology, it also provides the very useful function of enabling business partners to interact with Web site through standard protocols. This interaction can lead to a deeper, more valuable relationship for parties involved. Here are a few of the ways that partners are benefiting from Web Services:
Associates: Associates program enables Web sites to link to Amazon.com and earn referral fees for sales that they drive through their links. Many Associates are now using Web Services to build more effective links to our store, thus enhancing their sites and earning more money.
Sellers and Vendors: Amazon.com has thousands of third-party sellers who offer their products on our Web site. Using Web Services, these sellers can more easily manage large quantities of inventory on our platform, and download the latest product information to make sure that their products are competitively priced.
Developers: Among the thousands of developers who have signed up to our Web Services program, many are now creating solutions to help other people work with Amazon. These solutions are powered using our Web Services APIs.

Hi,
I don't know if this is an appropriate question to ask for this class as it's not
workshop
specific. I was wondering how will I decide when it is appropriate to use a web
service as opposed to say servlet or an EJB for my application? What is a good
rationale to use?
Thanks,
SadhanaHi Adam,
Thanks a lot for giving such a lucid explanation of my vague question!
I understand now the difference between when to use EJBs/Servlets/Web Services.
Thanks again!

Hi Sadhana,
Web service versus Servlet versus EJB. Which one to use? That is a very
good question.
EJBs should be the core desription and processing of your business rules.
They generally
have good performance, are easy to integrate into your security set up but
they require
access using the RMI-IIOP protocol. This means that generally EJBs are not
accessible
outside of your firewall and their clients have to be written in Java (other
enterprise
objects or applets or GUI applications).
Servlets often form a web-based front end to EJBs. They also have good performance,
integrate into security and only require HTTP access. This means they are
accessible
outside your firewall and any client with a HTTP or web API can call on
them, however,
there is no standard contract or rules for this type of interaction so you
will need
provide direct input into development of the client.
Web services are also accessible via HTTP and so can be accessed from outside
your
firewall. In fact, Web services internally within Workshop and WebLogic
actually
operate by using servlets and EJBs but the main advantage is that the mechanism/contract
for interacting with the web service is a well defined standard (WSDL) and
can actually
be registered or retreived dynamically (UDDI). Since web service standards
are open,
most popular programming languages already provide client APIs to interact
with them
thus freeing the web service developer from direct interaction with the
client developer
and letting the client be developed on any platform. The penalty for this
openness
is a small performance hit (XML translation) and a slowly maturing security
model.
So in summary, use EJBs for business operations that have Java clients within
your
enterprise, use servlets to provide web style access to your business operations
(like web pages) and use web services to enable automated clients that can
be written
on any platform either inside or outside your enterprise (firewall). In
fact, it
is common to write the EJB first and then to expose some parts of it outside
of your
enterprise by writing a web service wrapper (maybe using the EJB controls
that we
saw in class).
I hope this helps.
