Problem is that: I am trying to use my integrated webcam for the first time after i ourchased the laptop.
it shows the above error.
I am looking out solutions for this.
My operating system is windows 8.1
Imaging devices option is not available in my device manager itself.
There should be a white sticker on the bottom side of your laptop and there it should say Part Number.

  • Lenovo x201 tablet laptop Integrated Webcam not working

I recently had to reinstall windows onto the Lenovo x201 tablet laptop and I can't get the integrated webcam to work on Google+. I tried downloading the integrated camera driver but during installation it stops about 3/4s of the way and the installation cancels. Not sure how to fix this , I checked under Device Manager and the camera driver is not listed under imaging devices. Does anyone have a solution to this? Thanks.

    Hi
    Welcome to the community.
As per our concern, I would suggest you to please re-install the camera driver from the below mentioned web link.
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_SG/downloads/default.page?#
After that please perform the following steps.
    1. Press Fn+F6 to enable the camera.
    2. Click the Manage Settingsbutton. The Communications Utility window opens.
    3. In the Communications Utility window, configure the camera settings depending on your individual needs.

  • HP Pavilion G6-1113eo webcam not working

    Hello,
I have a HP Pavilion G6-1113eo with Windows 7 and the integrated webcam stopped working just  a few weeks after I bought it. I have several times tried reinstalling and updating the driver program (cyberlink youcam) but nothing seems to help. What should I do? Cyberlink can't find the webcam at all. The Youcam program is not so important to me, if it is easier to get the camera working without it.
So what to do? I wouldn't like to do a recovery of Windows as I feel it could happen again at any time.

Sounds like the hardware has failed.
If your warranty was still valid it should be replaced.
If not, if you don't fancy replacing it yourself (eBay), just buy a USB webcam is probably the handiest.

  • Integrated WebCam for Thinkpad X1 not working.

Hi guys, I have a new X1 thinkpad... initially the webcam was working but now I could not seems to get it work. I also could not see this in the device list. Tried re-installing the driver but it does not work. Anyone knows how to fix this issue?

    Hey there jerry_bp,
I have to agree, it sounds like you are having a hardware issue. In this instance it is most likely the connection for the camera is loose and you will need to contact service to have the issue resolved. The number for the US Service Center is 1-800-426-7378, before calling make sure you have your Machine Type, Model Number, and Serial Number.(Found On the Lenovo Sticker on the underside of machine) Good Luck, and keep us posted of your progress.

  • Satellite P300D-110 integrated webcam is not functioning properly.

    Hello everyone,
as the title says, the integrated webcam of my Toshiba Satellite P300D-110 is not functioning properly. Allow me to explain. Using the Camera Assistance Software I can take photo's and record music. If I try to record a video the preview screen turns up black and the end result tuns out black aswell, completely black.
Whenever I try to use my camera with applications such as MSN Live Messenger, Skype or at community websites using Firefox, Internet Explorer or Safari the application in question crashes.
    *How did this happen?*
    You tell me. This is how it went;
    * Day 1: I've started up my laptop and looked at my fresh and clean install of windows vista home premium. I tried out my webcam using the webcam assistance software and it worked like a charm.
    * Day 2: Once again I boot up my laptop and try to start my webcam only to find out that it no longer functions.
    To give a quick summary of the thread;
    * Using Camera Assistance Software provided by Toshiba I can take pictures.
    * Using Camera Assistance Software provided by Toshiba I can record sound.
    * Using Camera Assistance Software provided by Toshiba I can _*NOT*_ record or preview a video.
    * I can not start my camera using any other application such as but not limited to; MSN Live Messenger, Skype, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safar.
    * I have downloaded and isntalled the latest drivers from the Toshiba website.
    * My laptop is about a week old.
I'm not sure what more I can do, all I want is for the webcam to work, if anyone can help me out please do so.
And if possible WITHOUT having to reinstall Windows Vista Home Premium.
I haven't even used it and wouldn't want to make that a solution for all the problems that might occur in the future.
    Sincerely,
    a sad customer.

Using Camera Assistance Software provided by Toshiba I can NOT record or preview a video.
Can you please describe the steps how you try to do this? I must ask you this because it runs well on my notebook. When the recording is finished player opens and you can see recorded movie. It is avi format and at the top of this player you can see the path where the movie is saved.
Most strange thing for me is that you cannot use it with Skype. Ok for MSN is not the perfect but there is absolutely no problem with Skype. Check the settings and it must work somehow.

  • Satellite P200 - Webcam stopped working after Vista upgrade

Since upgrading Vista Home Premium to Vista Ultimate the integrated webcam has not worked. I've re-installed the Camera software whch proceeds to the point of updating driver software. The process fails with the messages "Windows encountered a problem install the driver software for your device". "Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. Chicony USB 2.0 Camera". "The driver installation file for this device is missing a necessary entry. This may be because the INF was written for Windows 95 or later. Contact your hardware vendor".
The Toshiba download site does not contain drivers for this device. only the Camera Assistant Software. The Chicony Electronics site contains some drivers for cameras, but doesn't describe the cameras and refers to model numbers which don't tally with the Toshiba references. I tried the latest model, but the driver installation completed with no termination messages and the camera still didn't work. Running the installation a second time recognised that something had been installed and proceeded to remove it, again no completion messages. A real class act!
Can anyone suggest where I might find a solution?

    Hi Syntax,
I did originally assume that the CAS software included the necessary drivers and have already done pretty much what you suggest about 3 times already. Still I have tried again exactly as you suggest.
Removed the "Unknown Device" from Device Manager.
    Uninstalled the CAS software.
    Restarted.
    Ran CCleaner.
    Restarted.
When Vista prompted to install driver for the new hardware, I declined.
Ran the ToshibaCAS.exe program, which completed successfully.
On attempting to use the software, the message "Switch on Camera" is displayed.
Device Manager shows hardware as "Unknown Device".
Properties show "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)"
Re-installing drivers from Device Manager repeats the problem stated in original question.
    Thanks,
    Alan

  • Satellite L450D Webcam not working after new installation without recovery

    Hi there,
as posted in the thread title I have a problem with the integrated webcam of a customer notebook. Two days ago the operating system of this laptop was damaged by a virus and needed to be re-installed. I tried to install it with the recovery partition, which did not work. After it I tried to re-built it with the dvd I burned from the recovery partition with the same result.
The only thing that worked was a clean install with a windows 7 64 Bit retail dvd and the key printed on the sticker of the laptop. I managed to get everything working again except one part - the webcam.
No driver installation, bios update and re-installation worked to get this part to work.
Did anyone of you know this problem and have a fix for me?
    Thanks in advance.
    Greetings Saphire
P.S.: One thing shall be also important. When I look into the installed devices manager the driver for the webcam is listed as usb webcam and the manufaturer of it is Microsoft.

    Hi
I dont think that this needs to be fixed because I dont think its hardware related issue.
I think there is something wrong with the software on your notebook.
I mean everything worked perfectly until virus has damage the OS. Right?
    You said this:
    >I tried to install it with the recovery partition, which did not work. After it I tried to re-built it with the dvd I burned from the recovery partition with the same result.
I really wonder why you could not get this working using Recovery disk.
So possibly this is the key to this issue
On the Toshiba European driver page I could find Registry Patch v1.1 For Win 7 64bit
Also webcam driver v 1.1.1.4 is available there
I think the OS is responsible for your issue possibly some patches are applied or similar

  • Where can I find the integrated webcam for my HP G62t-350 Notebook PC?

Just like the title asks, where can I find the integrated webcam for my HP G62t-350 Notebook PC? I have what looks like a rectangle in the top center of the screen/lid, in the bevel, but I'm not sure of how to get it to work, or if it's even able to work! I've seen pics of where there is a gray circle or dot in the middle of that rectangle, but I'm not able to see if I have one or not. Would someone please help me out here?

Click on start button under all programs in search box type in web cam. List will show above if it is installed you will see it. Other wise you need to purchased a web cam. This is how I found excess to my web cam on HP dv7 6135dx.

  • Dell Integrated Webcam

I have a Dell 1720 with an integrated webcam. It has been working great until today. My computer can't detect the camera and I have already tried reinstalling the drivers. The blue indicator light is also not coming on like it used to. Anyone have a suggestion?

The problem the entire time for me wasn't the microdia-git module it was the fact that my user wasn't added to the video group. I also figured out that my webcam worked perfectly with the uvcvideo module and oddly enough not the microdia-git module. I apologize for the "n00bness" and appreciate the help.

  • X220 Integrated Webcam

    Hi all,
I have weird issue with my Lenovo x220 integrated webcam.
Previously my integrated webcam used to appear as a device under the Printers and Devices, and this also used to get presented through to a windows 7 VM which I run on the x220 tablet using VMware Workstation.
Somewhere down the line (I am not sure exactly when) after numerous system updates etc, the integrated webcam stop appearing under Printers and Devices...and no longer gets passed through to the VM.
The webcam itself works fine on the host and is visible under device manager and can be configured using Fn + F6.
Not sure what made it stop working with vmware workstation, but any insite will be much appreciated.
    Cheers
    KK

    Hi, Maryd1621
What exactly happens when you attempt to use the integrated camera? Which programs have you tried using the camera with? As for the driver, click here for the camera driver for Windows 7, Vista, and XP. If you are using Windows 8, there is not an updated driver on the website, but the default driver built in to the machine should work fine.
    Hope it helps,
    Adam

  • TrueVision Webcam not working

Hello there! About a week ago I got an error while using skype, saying that there was no webcam recognized, even though  it just been working.  When i went into device manager, i could not find the webcam. I went on the hp forums, and restarting windows, banging on my laptop (this method was suggested), and reinstalling Cyberlink Youcam and the drivers. None of these methods work. Does anyone have any sugesstions? BTW, my notebook is an HP ENVY 6 1010-us running windows 7

I have the exact same problem with my webcam. My HP Envy 6 is 5 months old and recently I've been getting a notification that says there is an unknown USB device that was not properly removed. While getting this notification, I thought I may have accidentally unplugged my external hard drive without removing it safetly first. After plugging it back in, I realized that wasn't the problem because the notification kept showing up even when the HD was plugged into my usb.
I went to use skype, which had always worked before and had worked fine the last time I used it for a video call about one month ago. I realized I was unable to use the video call function through skype. I checked my webcam using my cyberlink youcam which had also alwasy worked and it informed me that there was no webcam plugged into my computer. Because I have an integrated webcam, I knew that something was wrong about this. In addition to this, the computer has sustained no accidental damage and has never been forcefully closed, dropped, or transported outside of my desk area more than a few times since I got the computer 5 months ago. There should be no issues with it at this point. I checked the device manager and there were no imaging devices listed anywhere. I followed all of the steps listed on HP's support website and that are listed on this thread as well, including refreshing my entire system, restoring my computer adn recovering my computer. After all of this, and still no luck, I knew the issue was internal and something I needed service on.
I contacted HP via phone and spent an hour going through all of the same steps I had already done on my own, only to have the same results--none of it worked. Not wanting to recover my computer back to factory settings again I was informed that I was not allowed to send my computer in for service unless I recovered my computer a second time and shipped it back to HP's service center. At this point the representative I was speaking with would not give me information about how to ship my computer because I refused to recover it. I find it ridiculous that despite having gone through the steps on my own I had to take another 3 hours of my time to go through the steps again with a representative. For a problem that was already diagnosed. I am not getting this time back and my computer is still no fixed.
As a full time university student, I rely on my computer every day. I cannot afford to go without a computer for 2-3 weeks while I send it in to be serviced. And even if this is my only option, I should not be subjected to three hours of repeating myself in order to recieve the same information I already know...I need to send my computer in for service. It is beyond my understand as to why HP does not have service partners in local areas like many other major computer suppliers, or HP service representatives that I can go to at a local office supplies store such as Staples or Office Max that can service my computer. As a loyal HP customer for the last 6 years, I am regretfuly reconsidering my decision to purchase an HP based on the lack of service options for indivudals like me who rely on their computers everyday.
Beyond this, can an HP representative, maybe "lions99", explain to me my replacement or repair options? The representative on the phone that I spoke with would not explain my options to me and I need to know what my options are in order to move forward. I am still under warranty.
    Thank you.

  • Webcam *only* works in Skype

I've been trying to get skype working off and on which basically requires two things before I start: (1) internal mic; (2) webcam. I have not yet managed to get (1) working. However, (2) was working out-of-the-box. When I first tried it, I got a picture of me and I think the LED came on as well.
Now, the LED does not light up and I get a square of blackness in place of an image. This is using KDE's test facility in system settings. (I'm using this because it worked fine with this test before.)
I didn't have to do anything to get it working before but I figured that might have changed. So I started to work my way through the webcam wiki page but I've got a bit stuck.
I think that the relevant line from lsusb is:
Bus 002 Device 004: ID 064e:e285 Suyin Corp.
I couldn't find exactly this in the hardware lists for drivers but, since it worked before, I figure it must be one of the included drivers. Looking through the lists, uvcvideo seemed the most likely as that supports integrated webcams in similar laptops with ids starting 064e.
lsmod | grep video seems to confirm this:
    uvcvideo 67853 0
    videobuf2_vmalloc 2276 1 uvcvideo
    videobuf2_memops 2182 1 videobuf2_vmalloc
    videobuf2_core 20415 1 uvcvideo
    videodev 83373 1 uvcvideo
    v4l2_compat_ioctl32 8348 1 videodev
    media 10469 2 videodev,uvcvideo
    usbcore 146847 5 ehci_hcd,usbhid,btusb,uvcvideo
    video 11243 1 i915
    i2c_core 20593 6 drm,drm_kms_helper,i2c_algo_bit,i915,i2c_i801,videodev
Moreover, the device is created at /dev/video0 and the webcam shows up fine in KDE's list of multimedia devices. That also shows me it is using /dev/video0 and uvcvideo driver. Moreover, I can't find anything in the logs.
I'm a bit stuck because the wiki at this point pretty much assumes things are working and moves onto configuration. It doesn't say what to do if everything looks OK (device created, modules automatically loaded etc.) but you just get black and no LED.
Can anybody tell me if this should work or what I should look into next? The most relevant forum post I've found is https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=132774 but unfortunately the OP in that case didn't know what had fixed the problem. Google has not turned up anything useful or, rather, nothing which I recognise as useful which definitely is not the same thing...
Note that I do not know with which kernel I last tested the webcam successfully - I just know it was working "a while ago" and isn't now.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that I am in the video group and that the permissions on /dev/video0 are:
    crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 0 Apr 29 00:50 /dev/video0
getfacl: Removing leading '/' from absolute path names
    # file: dev/video0
    # owner: root
    # group: video
    user::rw-
    user:<me>:rw-
    group::rw-
    mask::rw-
    other::---
EDIT 2: I just realised that the output of lsmod | grep v4l in the post I linked looks rather different from mine. The output there includes lines for v4l2_common, videodev and i2c_core whereas I get only one line for a 32 bit compatibility module:
    v4l2_compat_ioctl32 8348 1 videodev
I don't know if this is just because things have changed in later kernels or if this is a clue as to what might be wrong.
EDIT 3: Really confused now. It turns out the camera works in Skype complete with LED, picture etc. So I now have the camera working in Skype (which I can't use because I can't figure the mic out) but not elsewhere.
I assume this has something to do with the fact that Skype is 32bit? Is it possible to get the camera working generally in 64bit and 32bit applications (assuming that really is the problem)?

  • My webcam not work with skype

I have HP Probook 4540s with integrated webcam with Windows 7 Ultimate. I have making video call on skype but does not work for a week.Yesterday I uninstalled both webcam driver and Skype, then reinstalled with latest versions, but Skype does not recognize webcam  I updated BIOS, driver card and webcam, I did restart and it worked videocall but today no longer works.I use skype 7.2 the last version

Certain versions of that particular model's camera drivers are problematic.  You would want to make sure that you are using the generic Microsoft driver or the 5.9 drivers.

Beyond that, make sure no other problem is hogging up the camera resources.  If the camera continues to function intermittently then the internal cabling of the camera or the camera itself is probably defective and will require replacement.
