Integrating Collaboration Suite, Oracle Portal and E-Business to SSO

Hello,
I am in the middle of integrating several Oracle applications and one non-Oracle application to an Identity Management fresh installation.
I found the procedure to integrate E-Business to SSO, with bi-directional provisioning, but I am stuck with the integration of the next applications, Oracle Collaboration Suite and Oracle Portal:
1. How to integrate them to my new SSO Server? is it enough with the ssoreg.sh script?
2. What happens to the users? do I have to manually import them into my new SSO/OID install?
3. What happens with new users? how do they get created? are they now created in the new SSO/OID server?
If someone has had any experience with this kind of tasks, I will really appreciate your feedback. Thanks in advance.

You might ask this question in the Streams forum. You might ask it in the e-Business Suite forum. You might ask it at metalink. But asking it here is not likely to get you the definitive answer you need. I would make sure, before I made such a business decision, I heard it directly from Oracle Support Services.

    Hi there,
    Have you applied any patches to 9ias since it was first installed? We had the same problem and had to apply a couple of patches to get the portlets working.
    1. Apply the 9.0.2.53.16 one-off patch for Oracle 9iAS Discoverer which takes Discoverer up to 9.0.2.53.16. This patch appears to be password protected and you need to get someone at Oracle support to give you a password.
    2. Apply the Discoverer Portlet Provider: 9.0.2.53.00c patch (patch no. 2595444) which gives you a new discportal.xsl file that actually works. It's this second step that solves your problem but you need to do step 1 before this. This is password protected as well.
    3. As you've upgraded Disco on the server to 9.0.2.53, you'll need to upgrade Disco Admin & Desktop within your 9iDS installation using patch no. 2555265. This is because Disco 9.0.2.53 uses an upgraded EUL that Disco Admin & Desktop need to be patched to use.
    This was the course of action Oracle support advised us about nine months ago. Of course they may have released a further patch to Disco that does 1 & 2 in one go, but we regularly carry out steps 1 and 2 on servers we use and we can use the Disco portlets successfully.
    Hope this helps

  • Difference between Oracle Portal and HTML DB

    Hi folks,
    I am thinking about using another oracle tool to generate web reports.
    I see two possibilities: Oracle Portal and Html db.
    But what are the differences between them? Which one is the best?
    Nowadays we're using Oracle Reports, but as it is very expensive, we're are looking for another tool.
    Thank you all,

    Hi Sergio,
    I read the suggested forum.
    But to me, it was a little bit confusing.
    I don't know these technologies so deeply.
    I just want to know, if both (Oracle Portal and HTML DB) can be used to generate simple reports in Web?
    As I told you, we are using Oracle Reports which demands Enterprise Edition of IAS. This is very expensive to my company.
    So, I need to suggest some other tool to substitute Oracle Reports, so the company will be able to decrease the IAS version to the Standard one.
    In your opinion, which is the best tool in terms of generating reports in the web?
    Do these two tools genereate pdf reports????
    Please, I want to know your opinion about my problem.
    Thank you!!!

  • Integrating Web Services Manager with Oracle Portal and SSO

    Hi,
    I wanted to throw this out there and make sure I was on the right track and also if somebody can point me to some resources online that might help. Basically, we have OWSM acting as a Gateway securing some web services. Oracle Portal is integrated w/ Oracle SSO (as well as using OID). What is the best way to pass the credentials to the OWSM from the Portal for authentication purposes? I believe using SAML voucher token is the way to go, but I'm not positive. Has anybody done this before and if so, what methodology did you use? I'm assuming since using SSO, we don't necessary want to also pass in the password.
    Thanks,
    Nathan

    I have noticed that nobody has same kind of situation and this is not intresting question. Still we have same problem and I have heard many oracle employee saing that this behaviour is wanted situation. In our kind of virtual host enviroment it would be nice to choose behaviour of Single-sign-on server and I request oracle support to find out ways to enable this option... I would be pleased if some oracle development would say opinion about this mater. Waiting for ideas.

  • Integrating Oracle Portal and Siebel with OAM

    Sorry for the prob. straightforward question (just getting my feet wet with OAM)
    We would like to configure Oracle Portal so that when users login into Portal and click on the link to launch Siebel they are not prompted with a password again.
    We have the integration to OAM working for both Portal and Siebel seperatly, but we launch Siebel from within Portal we are then prompted for a password again.
    Can someone please point me in the direction of how to configure OAM so that Siebel will reconize the portal cookie and not prompt for a password again.
    Thanks
    Karl

    Please Install IIS WebGate at Siebel Server. Enable the WebGate by logging to Control Panel-> Administrative Console--> ISPAI Filters--> Add the WebGate Location.
    Check the webgate status by below URL
    http://<FQDN>/access/oblix/apps/webgate/bin/webgate.dll?progid=1

  • Oracle Portal and APEX

    Hello,
    After visiting the site for APEX I was very much excited about the simplicity with which an application could be built. I want to implement this at my site.
    Currently, we have a Oracle Collaboration Suite 10g instance at our site. It includes Application Server & Portal. It uses SSO to authenticate the users.
    Now my query is that can we use the same application server and single sign on to access APEX. OR in other words Can APEX be integrated with SSO?
    So that users while visiting portal have access to all the applications that we develop in APEX.
    Any insights would be of great help.
    Your co-operation would be highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Saabir.

    Saabir,
    Yes, you can develop Application Express applications that use the same AS/SSO login server used in your Portal configuration for authenticating your application users. They will be able to run your applications whether they access them through links in Portal or from links situated elsewhere. Also, I'm pretty sure they will have to login when accessing any of your SSO-enabled applications even if they've already authenticated to your Portal/SSO environment.
    See http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/howtos/sso_partner_app.html for detailed instructions.

    If Oracle Portal is running on Apache/Jserv, which is the only application server it runs on as far as I know, then that's your problem. JDeveloper uses one of the newer Servlet specificatione, 2.1 or 2.2, where as Jserv is using a very old one. 2.0, which doesn't support the session.setAttribute() method.
    I happen to know a little bit about portal and the JPDK. You do have the option of using the ProviderSession object that is provided by the JPDK PortletRenderRequest.getSession() method. I believe they have a setAttribute() method in there. In fact, if you want this object in the user's session, then you HAVE to use the ProviderSession from the JPDK.
    There are some other configurations you have to set to use this, you must specify to use session in your provider.xml, and you must also set the login frequency on the provider registration page to "Once per user session".

  • Configuring a Apache Reverse Proxy for OracleAS Portal and OracleAS Single

    I'm trying to implement my Oracle Portal 10g Release 2 with a reverse proxy (Apache 2.2) as described in this link: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/core.1012/b13998/variants.htm#BEIFECEH without success. I have Oracle Portal, Oracle SSO,OID in the same domain and Apache Reverse Proxy in another domain. Has anyone had success using OracleAS Portal with a reverse proxy?

    First of all i'm trying to configure a reverse proxy only for Ora SSO (infra tier). Here is what i already do:
    APACHE REVERSE PROXY (Apache 2.2)
    http:/proxy.mycompany.com:80
    ProxyRequests off
    ProxyPassInterpolateEnv On
    ProxyPass / http:/portal.tech.everett.it:7777/
    ProxyPassReverse / http:/portal.tech.everett.it:7777/
    ProxyPreserveHost On
    ORACLE SSO
    http:/portal.mycompany.com:7777
    Here are the steps i already do:
    1- CONFIG OID
    create an ldif file called setdasurl.ldif and insert as follow:
    dn:cn=OperationURLs,cn=DAS,cn=Products,cn=OracleContext
    changetype: modify
    replace: orcldasurlbase
    orcldasurlbase: http:/proxy.mycompany.com/
    then do ldapmodify as follow:
    ldapmodify -x -h portal.mycompany.com -p 3060 -D "cn=orcladmin" -w password1 -v -f setdasurl.ldif
    2- CONFIG ORA SSO (as gentjan user)
    export ORACLE_HOME=/home/gentjan/product/10.1.2/OracleAS/infra/
    2.1-config Apache config of ORA SSO
    vi $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.conf
    change from:
    ServerName portal.mycompany.com
    Port 7777
    KeepAlive On
    to:
    ServerName proxy.mycompany.com
    Port 80
    KeepAlive Off
    and add at the end of httpd.conf
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteOptions inherit
    2.2- update DCM Repository (as root)
    *$ORACLE_HOME/dcm/bin/dcmctl updateconfig -ct HTTP_Server -v -d*
    2.3- modify SSO Server Home URL to reverse proxy hostname and port (as root)
    *$ORACLE_HOME/sso/bin/ssocfg.sh http proxy.mycompany.com 80*
    2.4- Updating the targets.xml File
    Open the ORACLE_HOME/sysman/emd/targets.xml file and locate the target type oracle_sso_server.
    vi $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/emd/targets.xml
    Update the HTTPMachine and HTTPPort attributes with the proxy server host and port attributes that were passed to ssocfg. For example:
    Property NAME="HTTPMachine" VALUE="proxy.mycompany.com"
    Property NAME="HTTPPort" VALUE="80"
    Property NAME="HTTPProtocol" VALUE="http"
    Save and close the file.
    Reload the Application Server Control Console by issuing this command (as gentjan):
    *$ORACLE_HOME/bin/emctl reload*
    2.5- Re-register mod_osso on SSO Middle-tier with reverse proxy hostname and port
    some needed permissions
    chmod -R 775 /home/gentjan/product/10.1.2/OracleAS/infra/dcm/
    Re-register mod_osso (as gentjan)
    *$ORACLE_HOME/sso/bin/ssoreg.sh -oracle_home_path /home/gentjan/product/10.1.2/OracleAS/infra -site_name infra.proxy.mycompany.com -config_mod_osso TRUE -mod_osso_url http:/proxy.mycompany.com:80 -update_mode MODIFY*
    2.6- update DCM Repository (as root)
    *$ORACLE_HOME/dcm/bin/dcmctl updateconfig -ct HTTP_Server -v -d*
    2.7- Restart OC4J_Security and Oracle HTTP Server at Infrastructure tier
    *$ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl restartproc process-type=HTTP_Server*
    *$ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl restartproc process-type=OC4J_SECURITY*
    After this modifications my reverse proxy is ok.
    I can access to http:/proxy.mycompany.com:80 and this redirect me to Oracle Application Server Welcome page.
    If i try http:/proxy.mycompany.com/pls/orasso/orasso.home, i can view the SSO Server Home page.
    The problem that i find is when i click to Login page for Oracle SSO.
    I have the following error:
    Forbidden You don't have permission to access /pls/orasso/ORASSO.wwsec_app_priv.login on this server.
    So, in other words i can't do the login/logout under reverse proxy. Anyone can help?

  • Oracle Portal and EJB Web application

    Hi,
    Can anyone tell me how to make portlets in Oracle Portal from the jsp files which are a part of EJB application ?
    Problem here is OC4J is accessed behind Apache so the provider testing url(eg http://localhost/servlet/xxxx) gives page not found error.So portlets cannot be made.
    Hope somebody has some solution on this.
    Regards,
    Mandar.

    Hi Christopher,
    I am trying to do the same as you have said,I am trying to access the EJB from JSP's that run on JServ.However I am getting this error when I try to use RMI
    com.evermind.server.rmi.OrionRemoteException: Invocation error: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.crm.Dao.Customer.CustomerDataHome; nested exception is: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.crm.Dao.Customer.CustomerDataHome
    But the same code runs fine if run the jsp from Orion server.
    My code in jsp -
    Properties env = new Properties();
    env.put("java.naming.provider.url","ormi://localhost/autoglobal");
    env.put("java.naming.factory.initial","com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
    // env.put("java.naming.factory.initial","com.evermind.server.ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL,"admin");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS,"j2ee");
    InitialContext ictx_t = new InitialContext(env);
    CustHom = (CustomerDataHome)ictx_t .lookup("CustomerData");
    CustRem =CustHom.create();
    The above error is when I am using com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory .
    If I use com.evermind.server.ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory I get the following error
    javax.naming.NamingException: Error reading application-client descriptor: No location specified and no suitable instance of the type 'com.crm.Dao.Customer.CustomerData' found for the ejb-ref CustomerData
    Hope to get some solution on this.

  • Oracle Portal and Google?

    Hi,
    We are planning to setup a corporate website for our organization using Oracle Portal.
    My question is, with Oracle Portal storing all documents/pages/images, etc inside the Portal Content Area (Oracle9iAS Release 2), will it be possible for external search engines like Google, Altavista, Yahoo, etc to crawl and index these pages?!?
    I suspect it won't work, because everything is inside the Database and the search engines cannot go in there! Has anyone faced this issue before?
    Any comments/suggestions would be hightly appreciated!
    regards,
    -Piyush

    The search engines navigate by following the links in the documents. As long as you have links (direct or indirect) referring to your content and they're publicly available (granted view privilege to the PUBLIC), the search engines should be able to index your documents.

  • Oracle VM and E-Business Suite 11.5.10 or R12

    Hi,
    Has someone tried setting up Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10 or Release 12 on Oracle VM. As per Metalink Note: 464754.1 and Oracle VM FAQs at OTN, it is supported and certified, but didn't get any further information.
    Also, if one has to install Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10 or Release 12 on Oracle VM, following path can be followed:
    1. Setup Oracle VM on raw box
    2. Create a Oracle Enterprise Linux VM under Oracle VM.
    3. Install Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10 or Release 12 on VM created in Step 2.
    Will be great if someone can provide more insight into that, as lot of businesses are going towards virtualization.
    Regards,

    Good news, Pascal
    Can you share your experience like is there anything need to be considered while doing R12 setup on Oracle VM or it is like a standard installation at physical node?

  • Oracle Portal and access data from OID

    I was trying to do the employee search on Portal. I need to enter firstname or lastname of an employee and click search button and it display employee details
    These are the steps I followed
    I created a database provider "Portal1" using the schema Portal
    Then I created a dynamic page using that provider
    This is the code I have in the dynamic page
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <TITLE>Example</TITLE>
    </HEAD>
    <BODY>
    <H2>Example of A Dynamic Page</H2>
    <ORACLE>SELECT * FROM PORTAL.WWSEC_PERSON
    </ORACLE>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    Dynamic page was created successfully.
    This is my intention. Create a dynamic page and run it as a portlet and publish it in the portal repository. Then use that portlet as any other portlet on the page.
    I assume if I use a bind variable in the sql, I'll be able to pass the parameter (lastname/firstname) from the page and display the employee details on the page.
    This is my problem. When I tried to run the dynamic page as portlet, I am getting the following error. Please advise if I am doing something wrong or is there any other way to access emplyee details
    INTERNAL ERROR

  • Oracle Web Center Suite and Oracle Portal

    1)What is Oracle Portal and why it is used?
    2)What is Oracle Web Center Suite and why it is used?
    3)What is the difference between Oracle Portal and Oracle Web Center Suite?

    1) Oracle Portal is the Portal product that was deployed together with the application server before weblogic server. It is still used a lot for corporate intra and extranets. It is mosly used for intranets and extranets. When you bought the licence for the application server you automaticly had the licence for Oracle Portal. That's why it is so popular.
    Oracle portal is not realy standard based. You mostly will create portlets with PL/SQL or PDK and not realy use the JSR168 standard.
    No with Oracle Portal 11g you can consume JSR168 portlets using WSRP.
    2) Oracle WebCenter suite is the next strategical choose of oracle in portal software. Webcenter is an enterprise 2.0 portal environment while oracle portal is more web 1.5 and has limited web 2.0 stuff. Oracle Portal comes with a complete UI for the user to use to create websites and groups but webcenter is more a framework to incoorporate enterprise 2.0 features into your own fusion web application. Webcenter suite comes with Webcenter spaces. THis is a complete UI to create collaborative websites.
    Webcenter framework is a powerfull framework to create complete enterprise 2.0 sites.
    3) The difference... Oracle Portal is an old product and will not be developt anymore. I've heard portal 11g will be the last version meaning support will stop at 2014. Webcenter is a new product to create state of the art enterprise 2.0 websites.
    Oracle portals is not build on standard and is not realy standardbased meaning is you develop portlets for portal you will not be able to use them in other portals.
    Webcenter on the other hand is completly standard based. It is JSR168 compliant and in the near future it will also support JSR286.
    Oracle portal is PL/SQL based while webcenter is completly java based, based upon the ADF framework from oracle.
    Because WebCenter is based upon the ADF framework you can use the complete ADF framework for your application. For example consuming webservices are very easy in webcenter. If you are using a service oriented architecture you will have lots and lots of work to integrate it with portal. With webcenter this is peace of cake.
    Hope this helps you :)
