Integrating existing third party dataset with ZAM

We're new to Zen Asset Management, but we've figured out how to add custom fields. We'd like to be able to populate these custom fields with data from a home grown database of hardware. For instance, a capital year of purchase or a fiscal-assigned capital asset identifier. I'm sure we can key off of TCP/IP address and write the SQL UPDATE statements, if necessary. I searched documentation and the web for an answer or direction, but keywords like: 'migrate', 'import', and similar keywords have a specific technical meaning within the application.
Is there a method to integrate existing hardware information into the ZAM framework? If so, can you point me in the right direction?

We have SCE2020. We want to use the SCE for content filtering purpose.In this context,
a. Can we integrate external database with SCA-BB? I saw on Cisco doc that it is possible to integrate Surfcontrol? But can any other database be integrated? If yes, can anyone please suggest some for us to explore whether those databases can serve our purpose?
b. If the external database can be used, then with which protocol database communicate with SCE/SCA-BB?
If anyone has some suggestion, then please provide us.

Hi,
The Cisco CPA client runs on the SCE platform. It sends URL queries to the CPA server for categorization, and updates SCA BB with the categorization results.
The CPA client is installed as part of the SCA BB application (PQI) installation.
CPA client uses the Content Portal Authority (CPA) protocol from SurfControl, which is proprietary protocol I guess...
Based on this, I'm not sure if some other database (besides SurfControl) can be used for dynamic URL checking...
There is an option to use internal SCE URL database, and feed it periodically with categorized URL list using a script, but there is a limit of 100.000 URLs that internal SCE database can hold.

Integrating third party recruitment with SAP

Hi folks,
I had a question regarding intergrating the third party system with SAP HR masterdata. I am basically looking at transferring the applicant data from the Recruiting (third party tool ) system into SAP HR Masterdata. I found using the feature PAPLI something like integration could be done. I do not know how ???
Right now, at the click of button something like Data transfer (entering the applicant id) can be manually imported into SAP Masterdata from the SAP recruiting module on the same system.
Can such a process be achieived using a third party tool? Is direct transfer process from the thrid party tool into SAP Employee Masterdata possible? Is the feature PAPLI (found from IMG) something like this can be accomplished?
The version we are using is SAP 4.6C
Any thoughts or leads in this area will be highly appreciated.

I am not sure of any standard integration programs specific to recruitment, but through customization we can integrate third party rectt systems like People click, HRP etc.
Develop inbound programs with ALE-IDOC system to transfer the data to Rectt tables.
The switch will control activation of integration between the systems.

I am familiar with URL-iview,
and it should be ok integration forum as an iview.
But the third-party forum has its own user management system.
I means that the third-party forums need register and logon, then users can enter it.
We want carry out that integration the user management of Portal and the third-party forum,
the user of Portal and the third-party is consistent,
Portal UME can full control the third-party forums's user.
Is this issue possible?
And I am agree with your opinion that we need some develop for UI integration.

I've installed Sun J2ME Toolkit 2.1. If I intend to use other third party APIs with my existing toolkit, how do I do that. I can manage to get the jar file of the associated API classes, but how to integrate the same with the toolkit. Thanks in advance to all who support.

if I remember right, it is enough, if you put the .jar of the api in the lib/ directory of your project (<WTK>/apps/<yourProject>/lib/ )

Problem in Partial Billing for Third Party Sales with Shipping Notification

Hello Guys,
There is one issue related to a scenario of Third party Sales with shipping notification. Here the basic process that runs
are : Sales order --- > PR -- > PO --> MIGO --> Billing document --> Vendor Invoice Verification.
In this specific scenario, partial billing is not happening and the billing relevance for item category "B" and in copying control data
from sales order to billing doccument, the biling quantity field is "A".
Could anyone throw some light on the configuration part so that partial invoicing can happen ??? Please make a note of the fact
that billing documents are generated after MIGO is done.

Need connectivity of SAP Oracle with Third Party tool with dsn

Hi Friends,
We need to access SAP's Oracle database with third party tool with the help of dsn creation. For that we need to create 2 staging tables and need a new segment for these tables. Our data will move from SAP transactions to these 2 tables and we want to fetch this data via dsn into another third party S/W.
I am unaware of such kind of working, can you please help me how to create new segment and how to create dsn for accessing tables in this segment.
Our requirement is as follow.
The staging tables are required in the SAP database with user name and password. The user should have all access to the staging table only.
Requesting your kind help on this issue. Please suggest for further processing of activity.

Common way to integrate SAP (database) with third party Application is to use and implement SAP Connector (Java or .Net).
Using this, you can fetch the data from SAP database to use it in Third party application.
As per my understanding the method you mentioned, will void the SAP database license term.
So Please check before doing such configuraiton. Also that method is NOT recommended..

Your question is too vague since you give no information as to this third party application. Is it an application you wrote? Is it an application that you cannot change? Does it have a programming interface? Can you eliminate this third-party application and control the photon counter yourself? I've already read the steps in trx. spro and several documentations in sdn.
There was a hint to trx. ictconf, wsconfig, lpconfig, wsadmin. If you call these transactions there
is a message that these trx. are old and trx. SOAMANAGER should be used.
Question is how to activate the webservice "ICT_SERVICE_DESK_API" in SOAMANAGER.
I've never handled with bindings and proxy classes.

Yep got it. Shoud have refered the docs before asking this question. I used the following menu item to add a third party .jar file
Project->Project Properties: select the Paths option and add the required jar file by selecting the "Required Libraries" tab.

Integrating Third Party Data with BI Apps

Hi,
I have had a couple of inquiries from customers interested in BI Applications, but who want to integrate their reporting with data from other operational systems.
My question is: what is our recommended best practice for this scenario. Would we recommend customers to maintain two separate data warehouses with a single BI Server pointing to them and do the 'integration' at the enterprise model layer; or would we recommend the incorporation of their operational data into the BI Applications DW?
Obviously there are pros and cons for each and I would be interested to hear your views on these, understand what the implications are, and understand what our recommend approach is.
