Integrating External Video Signal into ACP via Mac

Is there a way to introduce an external video component signal into a live ACP session as opposed to connecting a camera? I'd like to feed video from both a VTR and a three camera broadcast facility, neither of which the Flash settings panel can recognize. I'll bet that there's a solution somewhere. Can anyone offer any advice?

Make sure your Mac's software is up to date.
Open system Preferences > Software Update > Check Now.
Restart your Mac after all updates are installed.
    Then try iTunes.
Which OS X is installed on your Mac ?
Click the Apple () menu top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac. The version is noted there.
Troubleshooting advice can depend on that information.

  • SD video signal into PP CS6

When recording a SD video signal via fire wire into Premiere Pro CS6,  is the video signal compressed?

    Hi Budrick,
The question is not entirely clear - are you capturing from a digital (miniDV, Digital8, etc.) source tape, or from analog source (VHS, 8mm) coming in through a Analog-to-Firewire converter? If DV source, then it is already compressed on the tape, and "capturing" via Firewire is simply transfering the video data from tape to hard drive with no additional compression. If from analog, then what Ann said.

  • Getting phone signal into Logic via M-Audio

To record phone calls on my land line, I got a Radio Shack Recording Control (43-228A), plugged it up, and set it to "Record." I plugged the 3.5mm plug into an adapter for 1/4 inch plug, which went into Input 1 on my M-Audio Fast Track Pro, from which point everything else is set as usual going into my Mac's FW. I made sure I had Input 1 selected, went to record as I spoke on a test call, and -- nothing but a hummmmmm. Just to be sure, I switched from line to mic input, and that didn't affect the hum.
Does anyone know of what details I may have overlooked here to get the phone signal into Logic? FWIW, I also tried with the chintzy little $8 suction-cup on the handset, since it also has a 3.5mm plug. Not even any hum.
I checked the usual suspects of "DUH" carelessness within Logic itself: making sure I matched the input to the M-Audio (tried both 1 and 2 anyhow), level up high, etc.
Also, would anyone recommend other procedures for telephone recording? I'd rather stick with land lines instead of Skype or iChat, since not everyone I'll be calling to interview will have those. Suggestions?

  • Can an external video camera connect through a Mac to Apple TV?

The business has a conference room that they would like use for video conferencing. They have a flat screen TV and asked if they could mount a video camera above the TV, that is connected to a MacBook Pro or MacMini, and use the external camera for video conferencing. They wouldn't be using it with FaceTime, it's a third party video conferencing program. They just want to know if they could mirror the video conference call through Apple TV when using an external camera?

    Hi,
Thanks for your assistance, but I spent quite some time researching this before posting, and the post you link to (which I've already read) doesn't actually answer my question, that person is asking about his wireless speakers receiving individual sound channels through airplay. Other discussions, which I've also looked at, seem inconclusive.
I was really posting in the hopes of finding anyone who had personal experience of trying to play a fullscreen, 5.1 surround video file using airplay mirroring from their mac to their Apple TV, and if they received 5.1 sound.
Thanks again for your help though.

  • Record external video to the iPad via cable or device

    Hi,
is there any hardware and software combination which will allow me to record video from an external source, such as a DVR onto the iPad ?
    Thank you

but an even more basic question is does this 30-pin dock connector have the bandwidth to handle real-time input from an NTSC camera?
The cable certainly has the 'bandwidth' but the real question is will Apple's iOS allow the camera signal to go through the cable and be read by an app?  In any case, it's a mute point since there's no app.
There are already security camera apps in the app store for specific cameras... http://appshopper.com/search/?search=security+camera

  • How can I partition my external hard drive into NTFC and Mac OS Extended Journaled?

I brought a 1tb external hard drive from Western Digital. It currently have one partition which is Mac OS X (Journaled). I want to have two partition, one Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and one NTFC for Windows. When I try to choose 2 partition and choose a partition type, I only get the following choices:
    1. Mac OS X Extended (Journaled)
    2. Mac OS X Extended (Case-Sensitive, Journaled)
    3. MS-DOS (FAT)
    4. ExFAT
    5. Free Space
I don't want to use MS-DOS (FAT) because I am limited to only 32gb of space and I need plenty of space for Windows files.

Assuming that  entire drive is GUID and you keep the existing journaled partition.
Make a second partition that is exFAT (more storage ability than FAT) using DU.
Then mount the drive on a Windows 7 and reformat that exFAT as NTFS.  But remember that Mac can read and write exFAT natively, but cannot write NTFS without special software.  Perhaps exFAT is what you want.
But more the the point: is the journaled partition used as a backup device?  If it is, I would leave that drive alone as a backup drive and use a second device for "data only" sharing between types.

  • How do I get a video signal to an external monitor via the mini-display port on my Mac Book Air?

I can't get a video signal out through my mini-display port on my Mac Book Air (version 1).  Thus I can't feed BBC iPlayer to an external monitor.  There is some connectivity - the MAC wallpaper is broadcast, the mouse pointer is visible and sound is transferred.  Is it likely to be a cable connection problem (though the cable works with a Windows operating laptop)?

First, what you said is contradictory. You say "can't get a video signal", then say"the Mac wallpaper is broadcast, the mouse pointer is visible". "No video signal" means an absolutely black, blank screen. It sounds like you have plenty of signal.
I am supposing what you are seeing is actually a blank desktop, which is to be expected if your settings are such that you are extending the desktop, instead of mirroring it.
Within the preference panes is a setting that allows you to change this. Open System Preferences, click Displays, and then click Arrangement. You will see that you are extending the desktop. Change that setting.

  • How can I use my external hard drive from PC to Mac without reformatting???

Ok, so I am computer illiterate. I have always used PC's and have just bought a MacBook. When I plug in my external hard drive into my new Mac, it says it needs to be reformatted to use with Mac, which would cause all data to be erased. Is there anyway to get around this?
    Please help me!

OK... as Woggledog indicated, OS X cannot write to NTFS formatted drives. NTFS is a proprietary Microsoft format. Conversely, Windows can neither read nor write to an OS X formatted drive.
Both Windows and OS X can read and write to FAT32 (this is a fairly old format). The down side to FAT32 is that the largest file you can work with is 4GB. That is probably fine for most people... but if you're working with large files (videos, virtual drive images, large backup files, etc...) FAT32 is not suitable. There are applications that you can purchase for both Macs and Windows machines that will allow them to read and write to the other format.
An immediate option provided you have the space on either your PC or Mac is to create a folder on either machine and move everything from your external drive into that folder. Then you can format the drive to FAT32 and then copy everything back over to the external drive (and delete it from your Mac or PC's internal drive). It might take some time depending on how much data you have... but you'll only have to do it once... and this is assuming you have enough space on one of you machines to copy the data from your external drive.

  • Portrait Display 640 x 870 75 hz on External Video Port?

Any way to force external video port into 640 x 870 @ 75 hz mode? I've got an old Apple M1030 monochrome display and a suitable cable adapter. My Pismo Powerbook recognizes that the M1030 as external display when connected, but doesn't seem to offer 640 x 870 as an option in mirror display mode. (There's clearly ouput, but display can't sync to it.) Anyway to force 640 x 870 mode? Some command line option, or even program interface? Anyway to turn off mirror display and keep the external setting window onto my Powerbook's display?Other ideas?
    Thanks,
    Seth

Can't get Mac OS 10.3.9 to accept SwitchRes setting 640x870. SwitchRes knows this setting, and, I can create a "custom" 640x870. But, it seems Mac OS 10.3.9 will not allow such a setting to be installed. (Reviewed by email with author of SwitchRes, Stephane Madrau.) There may be some "sanity check" in the OS which won't accept this aspect ratio. For what it's worth, I use video timings from Mac IIci manual p.51 (PDF p.59) http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Hardware/DeveloperNotes/Macintosh_CPUs-68K_Desktop/MacIIci.pdf Anyone know if 10.4.x would tolerate such a setting?

  • I have been trying to import VHS video into iMovie via a Hollywood Dazzle bridge.  Did not have trouble until I upgraded to mavericks.  I have a mac book pro, 10.9.1, iMovie 10.0.2.  Says it is recording, but when I go to check, it says the file is empty.

I have been trying import VHS video into iMovie via a Hollywood Dazzle bridge.  I have been successful doing this in the past, but now it is not working.  I have a mac book pro, 10.9.1, (mavericks), iMovie 10.0.2.  Everything in iMovie looks like it is working.  It reads "recording" in the upper left hand corner of the pane while the video is playing.  When I stop the process to check on my clip it says that the file is empty.  The only thing that has changed since I did it successfully is that I upgraded to mavericks from whatever I had previously.  My system is about one year old.  Any suggestions?

    Hey, Clinton,
Thanks for your help!  I was able to go to iMovie 9.0.9 and import video.  I was still curious as to why it didn't work in version 10.0.2, so I contacted Apple tech support.  They were't sure at first as to why it wouldn't work, so they had me delete iMovie 10.0.2 and then re-install it just to see if something had gone wrong when it upgraded.  That didn't change anything.  In the end, they determined that 10.0.2 doesn't support the Hollywood Dazzle DV bridge.  But I have a workaround path from them that I will share so that it's possible to import to 9.0.9, then move it to 10.0.2.
         1.  Open iMovie 9 (finder/applications/iMovie 9.0.9
         2.  Import from Dazzle Bridge to iMovie 9, note which event you are importing the clips into
         3.  Close iMovie 9
         4.  Open iMovie 10 (probably in the dock)
         5.  File/Import Media...navigate to home(this was my name, on the left side of iMovie, under Favorites)/Movies/iMovie events.  Find the event folder that contains your Dazzle clips (tip-try sorting by date modified to look at recent events.)
         6.  Select the clips and import.  Click the blue "Import Selected" button on the bottom right.
You may get a message that some files cannot be imported.  Click continue import.  It's a little glitchy.  It imports your clip, and also makes a copy of it, too.  On the copy, the audio is normal, but the video is choppy.  In any case, you would delete the copy, anyway.
Hope this additional information helps somebody else.  Thanks again, Clinton for helping me!

  • Problems accessing iTunes media folder on external drive via Mac

I have recently got a Mac Book Pro and assumed it would be easy to access my iTunes library - which I store on a Buffalo external drive and normally access via my Asus vivobook laptop running windows 8 - by simplying plugging the external drive into the Mac Book Pro, opening iTunes while pressing on the Option key (as I understand it is called) and then selecting the iTunes library .itl file when invited to choose a library. However, when I do this, I get a message saying that "the .tl file is locked, on a locked disc or I do not have write permission for this file".
If I click on the .itl file in the external drive via my Mac, it takes me straight into iTunes but, of course, without any of the content of my iTunes media folder.
I can access the media on the external drive when it is plugged into my Mac and am not aware of ever having introduced any restrictions on the library .itl file (I normally switch the external hard drive between my Dell desktop and my Asus laptop).
I have restarted my Mac Book Pro and quite iTunes etc. I also have the media folder correctly identified on the external hard drive in my iTunes preferences, Advanced Settings.
I would be most grateful for any ideas as to what could be the problem here.
    Thank you (in anticipation).
    Best,
    Michael

Get info on the drive.  Check the format.  If it says NTFS it is a format that Macs cannot write to, only read, unless you install special software.  It is a common issue with using Windows drives on Macs.  "Locked" may mean iTunes cannot open it for full use since it needs to write to the library file as well as read it.
Your solution may be to reformat the drive to something a Mac can use fully too, such as FAT (beware file size limits with large video files). or trying to work with a NTFS driver for Mac.

  • Analog Video/Audio into G5 Quad via USB/Firewire

    Hello!
I have a Mac G5 Quad and I already have a capture card installed for my
Betacam SP deck (it's a Blackmagic Decklink SP card). From time to time I'd also
like to capture video/audio straight from VHS, DVD and occasionally even
LaserDisc but I don't want to start disconnecting my Betacam SP-to-G5 cables to do
    this.
Is there a quality device that would allow me to go from RCA video/audio
outputs directly into my G5 via USB or Firewire? I've done a bit of research
online and it appears that the quality of the output video/audio varies greatly
according to which device one uses.
Any advice, guidance or recommendations are much needed and most appreciated.
    Cheers!
