Integrating iCal with a priority based reminders list?

i have recently realized that it would be helpful for me to tie a reminders-type-list to a calendar-based-display.
and while i see that i can set a "reminder" in Reminders so that this shows up on some day as an alert i am wondering if there is a way to find some software that woudl have a tighter integration with iCal so that i could see a list by priority that was cross referenced with a calendar that is obviously chronological.
am i missing something in Reminders app?
anyone doing this with Notational Velocity and/or Simplenote?
TIA

I can't drag my ical events over to the reminders list (that's not there anymore) like I used to be able to do. Why?

What version of iphoto? If it's iPhoto 11:
Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder Window should open with the file selected. Does it?
    Iphoto 09 or earlier
Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). A Finder Window +should+ open with the file selected. Does it?

  • Siri keeps telling me "your calendar does not support location-based reminders" when I ask her to remind me to feed the cat when I get home. My address is in contacts and it has worked previously. Did iOS 8 change something?

calendar does not support location-based reminders....
i Just found a similar question below and it resolved my issue. Turn off the sync to exchange email and all works fine now.

Couldn't agree more.  I've been *trying* to use location reminders ever since buying my iPhone 4S but as yet, out of many, many attempts they've only actually worked once.
The kid problem is very simple, the way the phone needs the location to be an address in your address book, and it's subsequent inability to correctly locate the address. My home address is a correct postal address, and has been unchanged for 40+ years, yet clicking on my address from my own contact entry puts my location some distance down my street.
Whilst I understand the issue with the address lookup, it seems to be a massive problem with the location based reminders as it's just not possible to set useful reminders.
What if I want to remind myself of something when I arrive at the car park on a shopping trip?  There is no address for that in my contacts, I just want to pinpoint the location on the maps and say 'remind me when I get there'.  Surely that's the simplest my far.  Same with address book contacts, if you had a field with the gps position in then one could tag the locations and know they were 100% accurate for location services.
Such a shame as it's one of the key reasons I upgraded my phone and as it stands it just plain doesn't work.

  • Ical reminders list won't sort on iphone

ICal Reminders won't sort on the actual device it was intended for - the Iphone
I just talked to Apple Express service over this problem.  I went to the trouble of transferring my to-do list onto icloud Reminders - where each item asked for a priority ranking and where you are then given options for how to sort  all the Reminders you entered - so that it can actually be useable as any Calendar/time management system would be.   I chose "by priority" of course, but you can also choose alphabetically, etc.  It must be said, at least to Apple, apparently, that the point of doing all this is so that the Reminders are available on your actual device - my iphone.  The Reminders all synced immediately to the Iphone.  However, the Reminders list is an unsorted jumble on my iphone.  Even when I tap out a Reminder on my iphone itself and choose a priority, the item remains at the bottom of the list as the last thing I typed in.  Apple Express Support "explains" that the priority ranking and the sorting choices are "not supported" on the device you want to use them on - the iphone.   They offered me "an article" that explains this in detail.   In other words, engaging with the Reminder function and choosing priorities and choosing sort orders is all just a cruel joke wasting your time.  I would have been better off just printing off my Reminders list on paper and circling the high priority items in red ink.  Oh - but you can't print it out either.
Unbelieveable.  Apple's ICal Reminder function actually and actively leads you to engage with completing details and choices that don't even function, or in other words - aren't "supported" on the Apple device they are stated to be designed for.  Is there a device on which this function is actually supported?  "Not at this time"
The only way to have your to-do list sorted on the iphone is to assign a calendar date for each one of them and then they only appear on that specific date.  You would not be able to view your whole list in anything other than the order you happened to enter the items.  No calendar/time management system I know of makes you put a date on every item in a  task list - some tasks have a due date, but most don't.  And every calendar/time management system allows you to sort your list, or view your list in a sorted order.   And print it out also.
Apple advertises this Icloud Ical/Reminders system as a time managment tool and fails to tell us that vital functions don't even work on your iphone.

    Hello Christiansted,
    Welcome to the Discussions Boards.
In addition to shuffle, you probably have repeat enabled. When you tap the screen or cover art while playing a song, the scrubber bar has the Shuffle button at the right end and the Repeat button at the left end.
If the circular arrows are blue, it will repeat the album or playlist.
If the circular arrows have a small number 1 on them, it will only repeat one song
If they are white, Repeat is off.
The User's Guide explains this on page 63:

  • Location based reminders option not available on iPhone 6plus with iOS 8.1

Location based reminders option  (within Reminders app) is not available. I can open the app and create a reminder based off time, but there is no option present to specify location. I have location services enabled. The Reminders app is not listed in my apps eligible to use Location services, but it's never asked... because it's not an option in the app to select.
    iPhone 6plus with iOS 8.1

Try using Siri to set the reminder, something like "remind me to call mom when I leave home". It should either know or ask what "home" is and that may initiate the location services. I did confirm that location services are available on the latest OS for the iPhone plus (just checked mine).

  • Cannot rename Reminders List in iCal for Exchange Task List

I figured out that Exchange Tasks show up in OS X Lion as a Reminder List in iCal.  When I create a new Reminders List in iCal using File > New Reminder List > Exchange, it creates a new list with the name Untitled in the Reminders pane of iCal.  I can then rename the new (Untitled) list that I created by selecting the corresponding Reminders List from the Reminders drop-down and double-clicking over the Untitled name to rename it.  It seems that iCal successfully renames the Reminder List, but once it syncronizes with the Exchange Server, the Reminder List that I just renamed changes back to Untitled. Has anyone else experienced this issue and/or found a solution?  I don't always have the ability to log into Windows and would like to have the functionality to manage my Reminders Lists from my Mac.

    This worked for me:
The Problem: I also had the problem where I couldn't create a Reminder List having the same title as a Calendar List.  At one point I think I had the title of "Work" as both a Reminder and Calendar List, then when I deleted it from the Reminder List, it wouldn't allow me to create it again, and would go to Untitled.
The Solution (try at your own risk!):
    (1) Backup the Calendar that has the same name.  Select the Calendar by clicking the Calendar button in the top left and click on the calendar.  Go File menu -> Export -> Export... .   It should show your calendar name with ".ics" at the end, save this somewhere.
    (2) Delete the Calendar: Click the Calendar button in the top left and right-click on the calendar, choose delete.
    (3) Create the new Reminder list with the name that you want.  It should now allow you to.
    (4) Import the calendar you backed up in step 1.  Go File menu -> Import -> Import... and choose the .ics file you backed up. I've done this last step in the past but not this time around since I actually didn't care for the calendar to come back, so I don't remember the exact process after here.  I think it either gives you an opportunity to merge the events of the ics file into an existing calendar, or you can create a new calendar for the importing events.  If it doesn't give you this second choice, then first create a calendar with the name you want, select it, and start the import process over again.
    Hope this helps!

  • Has Apple acknowledged that there's an issue with location based reminders?

After searching several posts, I haven't found where Apple is working on a solution for the location reminders issue.  There are several recommendations that people make...but most don't seem to work.  What say you Apple??
Please reply with a link if I missed something during my search that answers my question. Thx

It was a bug. In iOS 7.1 Apple fixed the location based Reminders. Users no longer need to have the Reminders app running in the background for location based reminders to fire off.

  • TS4079 problems with siri using location based reminders

When i tell siri to remind me to stop by the store when i leave work today i get a error message.  The message states my calendar service does not allow me to set location based reminders.  I thought this was something that siri does.  Any help fixing this problem is greatlhy appreciated.

I had the same problem, after reseting the phone and restoring, it worked for a while. The root of the problem stems from using and Exchange mail account. The reminders are set to exchange tasks and it won't work for location-based reminders. The solution can be found at this link:

  • Synching ical with coworker ical

Looking to synch my ical with my business partners. Help Please

    Hey DorseyHolme,
Check out the following instructions, they'll go through how to use iCal with your business partners by publishing and subscribing:
Mac Basics: iCal (OS X Lion and earlier)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2513
    Publish your calendar
To make your calendar available to others, choose Publish from the Calendar menu. In the resulting dialog, type a name for your calendar in the top field, choose to publish it on your own server from the "Publish on" pop-up menu, select any of the other options you want, and then click Publish.
When iCal finishes publishing, a dialog opens and displays the URL for your calendar—be sure to write this information down.
    Subscribe to other calendars
You can use iCal to subscribe to someone's published calendar, such as a family member, your work team, or a publicly available iCal schedule.
If you have an iCloud account set up in iCal, you can choose to add the subscribed calendar to that account. You can then view the subscribed calendar in iCal as well as in the Calendar app on your iOS 5 or later devices that have been configured for iCloud. This works without having to resubscribe to the calendar.
In iCal, choose Calendar > Subscribe.
Enter the web address for the calendar you want to subscribe to, and then click Subscribe.
Type a name for the calendar in the Name field and choose a calendar color from the adjacent pop-up menu.
If you have an iCloud account, choose whether you want the calendar to be located only on your Mac or on your iCloud account. If you want to view a subscription calendar in iCal and in the Calendar app on devices with iOS 5 or later without resubscribing to the calendar, choose your iCloud account.
If you want to receive any reminders or attachments, or hear any alarms associated with the calendar, deselect the appropriate Remove checkboxes.
If you want iCal to update your copy of this calendar when changes to it are published on the Internet, choose the update frequency from the “Auto- refresh” pop-up menu.
    Click OK.
The calendar you subscribed to appears in your Calendars pop-up list under the heading "Subscriptions." To make changes to the calendar, click Calendars, select the calendar, and then choose Edit > Get Info.Notes
Subscriptions that you manually add on iOS devices will not push to iCloud; you need to subscribe to calendars using iCal on OS X to push those subscriptions to your other devices and computers.
icloud.com and Microsoft Outlook will not display subscribed calendars pushed to iCloud.
Find more information about using iCloud with calendar subscriptions.
    All the best,
    David
