Integrating LT slide with Photoshop image in FCE

Hi all. I'm using LT to make text slides to integrate into an FCE project. Here's some background: my video opens with a LT slide, which is laid on top of (i.e., on the track above) a layered Photoshop image. Next, a few of the layers move, and the text slide ends, and then there is a second when just the PS image shows, and then a second LT slide of text superimposes on the PS image. So the PS image lasts for about 7 seconds, and during that time there are 2 different LT titles superimposed, one at 1-3 seconds and then a second one at 4-7 seconds.
My problem is this: there is a little hop in the Photoshop image when the second LT slide appears -- the image gets ever-so-slightly bigger. I think this must have something to do with the Project Properties in LT not agreeing with the size/pixel aspect of my Photoshop image, but I've been adjusting the #s in both programs forever and the problem remains.
Here are the settings I have now:
Photoshop image: 720x480, 72 dpi, Pixel aspect ratio = DV1/DVNTSC (0.9)
LiveType Proj. properties: NTSC 4:3 (640x480, pixel asp ratio=1.0). Note that I've tried variations, too -- switching the Project Prop size to 720x480, switching the pixel aspect ratio to .9...
FCE Project: Easy Setup DV/NTSC
Thanks in advance for the help -- it's a small problem, but is driving me nuts!
JP

No idea what the first part was about.
Are you trying to render the PS in LiveType as a background image?
If you are, don't. Do the compositing in FCE.
You must view the output of all of yor rendering on your targe playback device, not a computer monitor. You blip in the PS image could just be a rendering artifact being displayer one or two pixels too high or low and that may or may not be visible when played out on an interlaced set.

  • How can I use wget, cron and Automator to periodically pull a dynamic image from a URL to local storage, and then update a Keynote slide with that image, automatically?

    How can I use wget, cron and Automator to periodically pull an image from a URL (which is dynamically updated - like a weather map, say - to local storage, and then update a Keynote slide with that image, automatically?

    Any particular reason for those specific technologies?  wget does not exist on a mac, although you can nstall it I guess.  OS X has curl installed which should do pretty much anything you want to do with wget.  cron is being replaced by launchd, although cron still exists on mountain lion.
    As far as I can tell from automator all the standard 'actions' to access keynote  available to it require keynote to be open and running, but does not provide a function to actually open it.  So I think you will have to write some applescript, as a minimum to open and quit keynote. I notice that the keynote actions are mostly circa 2005 an wonder if they would even work.
    Under utilities in automator 'actions' there is a capability to add applescripts as part of the workflow.
    Also, note that cron is being dprecated by Apple and replaced by launchd.  that said cron is stil on my mountain lion instalation.
    This entry at stackoverflow shows use of cron with curl to get web urls.  http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1683620/getting-started-with-cronjobs-on-a-ma c
    If I have any time I may try and get this to work as it is quite interesting and new to me.  But otherwise, good luck.

  • How to make a round Slider with an image ?

    hello everybody,
    I'm back and i have a new question : how to make a round Slider (like a volume knob) with an image ?
    I see this very interisting tutorial : http://fxexperience.com/2012/01/fun-javafx-2-0-audio-player/ but it use a private class from com.sun.javafx.scene.control.skin.SkinBase...
    thank you for your answer.
    Gaëtan.

    I'm guessing you could subclass Slider to create a class SliderKnob.
    At some stage in the process, not sure where (perhaps after calling super in the constructor), you could look up the slider region's child thumbnail and track and call setVisible(false) and setManaged(false) on them, create an ImageView for your knob, add the knob ImageView to the slider's region and bind the ImageView's rotateProperty to the slider's valueProperty(). Not sure that that is any better than using the SkinBase stuff, but at least it is an alternative idea.
    Everything to create your own controls has not been added to the public API, so if you want to make your own controls in the same way the JavaFX does them (i.e. with Skin's and Behaviours and stuff like that) you have to make use of com.sun classes unless you can subclass and modify the workings of existing controls similar to what is proposed in the preceding paragraph.

  • How do you create a slider with linkable images?

    I have been building a web site. I'd like to have a slider with the ability to click on an image to go to another page. Anyone know how to do this using Dreamweaver CS6? Any suggestions are welcome and will be most appreciated.
    Thankyou for your help.

  • Photoshop images into FCE

    Hi - I am trying to import images into FCE but am having a difficult time.  I have clipped around a medicine ball and gotten rid of the background, so that it in the video it would appear as though I am holding the medicine ball.  When I bring the image into FCE, the medicine ball has a black, square border around it.  I have done this with a few different images and the same thing happens.  Any suggestions?

    Did you save the image in a format that supports background transparency?  TIFF, PSD and PNG will work.

  • Possible? Master slide with changing image?

    Let's say I have a presentation with 20 slides. For simplicity, all 20 use the same master.
    I would like to have a little image of our company's logo in one corner, which starts off vertical but rotates as I go through the slides as a sort of visual progress hint; so at half way through the slides it would be inverted, and on the last slide it would be vertical again.
    Of course I could manually rotate the image on each slide, but this would be tedious and would have to be re-done if I changed the number of slides, or the order of the slides.
    Is it possible to automate this in Keynote, perhaps using builds or some extension of slide numbering? Ideally it would be robust to changes in the number and order of slides. Or am I just asking too much?
    I'll be interested to hear your ideas.
    Glenn.

  • Title crawl with videos/images in FCE

    Hello.
    I would like to do a crawl of text credits with small videos or still images crawling inline or beside the text. Is this possible with FCE, specifically with the Boris Title Crawl generator? If so, how do I do it?
    Cheers,
    Stephen

    Do the text crawl first .. estimate how long you want it to be, including the clips/still you need to include. Leave spaces in the crawl when you type it out. Drop that onto V1
    On V2 place your clips/still. Match them up to the timing of your crawl. Use motions keyframes to "animate" the clips/stills to move along with the crawl.
    This is doable but will take some pre-planning on your part

  • Poor Image Quality In FCE With Photoshop Imports

    I'm using scans created in Photoshop in my current FCE project, and am extremely disappointed with the image quality. All scans are 72 pixels/inch, 720x534 pixels (changed to 720x480 for import), sharpened with Unsharp Mask. In Photoshop, they look terrific. Imported into FCE and viewed in the viewer, they look terrific. When dropped onto the canvas to add to the timeline, suddenly they look like crap. The sharpness is gone, the edges are pixelated, and most are rendered unusable. What happened? Can I fix it? Thanks in advance.
    Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   FCE 1.0.1

    Really!? I'm surprised, as those numbers come from the Apple Pro Training Series book on FCE. But ok, I'll redo my images at 720x540. I should still make a version at 720x480 for import, to avoid "squeezing" the image, right? Should I avoid sharpening the image at all, or just cut back on the amount (or does this depend on the image)? When you say "the canvas is a reduced display output," do you mean that this reflects the compression that occurs with the DV format? Thanks, Tom, for your help.

  • How do you create a 800 x 200 pixell slide show with Photoshop Elements 8?

    I have a banner for a web page that measures 800 x 200 pixels. I would like to create a slide show in the whole volume but I have been unable to discover where to change the standard size of the slide show window to 800x200 in Elements 8. Can anyone help?
    Al

    Many thanks for your reply. I edited a series of photographs to 800x200 as
    you described and then attempted to create a slideshow in Slideshow editor.
    I get a good horizontal fit in the slide frame but there are black bars top
    and bottom since the frame is more than 200 pix high. My question really is
    how do I create a 800x200 slide frame that the edited photographs will fit.
    Subject: How do you create a 800 x 200 pixell slide
    show with Photoshop Elements 8?
    In the slideshow editor interface click once on your image in the main
    window - you will see a bounding box appear together with editing options.
    Click on the More Editing button and when your image opens in full edit
    select the crop tool.
    Set width to 800 px and height to 200 px and resolution to 72
    Drag out your crop rectangle and move your image to the position you want -
    this avoids image distortion but you will sacrifice parts of the original to
    create a banner.
    Press Ctrl=S to save and check version set to save an edit without affecting
    the original.
    Press Ctrl+W to close and your cropped image should automatically pop up in
    the slideshow editor.

  • Can I create a rotating image with sevaral images in  Photoshop?

    I was wondering if I can  create   a rotating image with sevaral images in  Photoshop?    Much like a gif? Would this improve my page load time or would it be the same as loading a slideshow?  Here is an example of what we wanna do vacationsalabama

    Yes you can create a gif in PS to do this but it would be much easier to accomplish with some simple JQuery Image slider.
    Several examples here
    and here
    The benefit is they load faster, have speed options, and switching images out is a breeze. They can also have links asigned to the images as they appear.

  • How can Photoshop Album SE3 be integrated with Photoshop Elements 1.0?

    How can Photoshop Album SE3 be integrated with Photoshop Elements 1.0?
    I am quite happy with Elements 1, but now have my images catalogued in SE3, can I link directly between the two programs?
    Maybe this has been asked before but the user forum is a nightmare to negotiate.

    Theer is no easy way to link them - this is something the paid-for PSA 2 can do. However, you can do simple drag and drop - drag a thumb out of PSA SE into PSE and the image will open. If you save back to the same file, you'll need to update the thumbnail. If you do a Save As, you'll need to import the new version.
    > the user forum is a nightmare to negotiate
    Odd comment. In what way do you find it hard?

  • Why can I no longer open images with Photoshop CS3, running on Mac OS 10.4.11?

    Why can I no longer open images with Photoshop CS3, running on Mac OS 10.4.11?

    You may be able to drag and drop the icons from one toolbar onto another, you can then hide the toolbar that you no longer need. For details on how to do that see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+customize+the+toolbar

  • DrawImage takes long time for images created with Photoshop

    Hello,
    I created a simple program to resize images using the drawImage method and it works very well for images except images which have either been created or modified with Photoshop 8.
    The main block of my code is
    public static BufferedImage scale(  BufferedImage image,
                                          int targetWidth, int targetHeight) {
       int type = (image.getTransparency() == Transparency.OPAQUE) ?
                        BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB :
                        BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB;
       BufferedImage ret = (BufferedImage) image;
       BufferedImage temp = new BufferedImage(targetWidth, targetHeight, type);
       Graphics2D g2 = temp.createGraphics();
       g2.setRenderingHint
             RenderingHints.KEY_INTERPOLATION,
             RenderingHints.VALUE_INTERPOLATION_BICUBIC
       g2.drawImage(ret, 0, 0, targetWidth, targetHeight, null);
       g2.dispose();
       ret = temp;
       return ret;
    }The program is a little longer, but this is the gist of it.
    When I run a jpg through this program (without Photoshop modifications) , I get the following trace results (when I trace each line of the code) telling me how long each step took in milliseconds:
    Temp BufferedImage: 16
    createGraphics: 78
    drawimage: 31
    dispose: 0
    However, the same image saved in Photoshop (no modifications except saving in Photohop ) gave me the following results:
    Temp BufferedImage: 16
    createGraphics: 78
    drawimage: 27250
    dispose: 0
    The difference is shocking. It took the drawImage process 27 seconds to resize the file in comparison to 0.78 seconds!
    My questions:
    1. Why does it take so much longer for the drawImage to process the file when the file is saved in Photoshop?
    2. Are there any code improvements which will speed up the image drawing?
    Thanks for your help,
    -Rogier

    You saved the file in PNG format. The default PNGImagReader in core java has a habit of occasionally returning TYPE_CUSTOM buffered images. Photoshop 8 probably saves the png file in such a way that TYPE_CUSTOM pops up more.
    And when you draw a TYPE_CUSTOM buffered image onto a graphics context it almost always takes an unbearably long time.
    So a quick fix would be to load the file with the Toolkit instead, and then scale that image.
    Image img = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().createImage(/*the file*/);
    new ImageIcon(img);
    //send off image to be scaled A more elaborate fix involves specifying your own type of BufferedImage you want the PNGImageReader to use
    ImageInputStream in = ImageIO.createImageInputStream(/*file*/);
    ImageReader reader = ImageIO.getImageReaders(in).next();
    reader.setInput(in,true,true);
    ImageTypeSpecifier sourceImageType = reader.getImageTypes(0).next();
    ImageReadParam readParam = reader.getDefaultReadParam();
    //to implement
    configureReadParam(sourceImageType, readParam);
    BufferedImage img = reader.read(0,readParam);
    //clean up
    reader.dispose();
    in.close(); The thing that needs to be implemented is the method I called configureReadParam. In this method you would check the color space, color model, and BufferedImage type of the supplied ImageTypeSpecifier and set a new ImageTypeSpecifier if need be. The method would essentially boil down to a series of if statements
    1) If the image type specifier already uses a non-custom BufferedImage, then all is well and we don't need to do anything to the readParam
    2) If the ColorSpace is gray then we create a new ImageTypeSpecifier based on a TYPE_BYTE_GRAY BufferedImage.
    3) If the ColorSpace is gray, but the color model includes alpha, then we need to do the above and also call seSourceBands on the readParam to discard the alpha channel.
    3) If the ColorSpace is RGB and the color model includes alpha, then we create a new ImageTypeSpecifier based on an ARGB BufferedImage.
    4) If the ColorSpace if RGB and the color model doesn't include alpha, then we create a new ImageTypeSpecifier based on TYPE_3BYTE_BGR
    5) If the ColorSpace is not Gray or RGB, then we do nothing to the readParam and ColorConvertOp the resulting image to an RGB image.
    If this looks absolutely daunting to you, then go with the Toolkit approach mentioned first.
