Integrating Portal Server with MS Exchange Server

I am trying to outline a solution for integrating MS Exchange with Portal
Server. I realize that this can be done through the Exchange Netlet in iPS
3.0, but this will enable Outlook client access on the users machine through
the portal, and is not what we are looking for. What we would like to
provide is calendar (appointments, tasks, etc.) and mail information within
a channel on the portal. We would then provide a link to the web-based
interface for Exchange within the channel. The interface is simple, since
web-Exchange provides a URL, although any insight on providing SSO to the
application would be helpful.
Is there a way we can interface with Exchange using Java-based wrappers to
retrieve the calendar and mail information for a specific user? It seems
like the NetMail and iPlanet Calendar Server implementations would be
overkill for what we are looking for.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Here are some of my
thoughts:
1. Since Outlook has a web-interface(provides a URL), we can obviously serve
the web application up through the portal.
2. iPlanet Portal Server 3.0 NetMail. This will provide us with an IMAP
interface to the contents of the mail server, allow a user to send emails,
read emails, create folders, change folders, etc. This seems to provide a
full-fledge email application, which may be more than we actually need. Is
there any way to use the Java NetMail Servlet or the NetMail Lite version to
get what we are looking for?
3. Using iPlanet Calendar Server for the appointments and schedule, although
I believe that Exchange does not conform to the iCalendar protocol
specification? Again, this is a full-fledge calendar application, and seems
to be overkill for what we may need.
4. Using a netlet to connect to Microsoft Exchange server, which can be done
with Portal Server 3.0 because it implements the Microsoft Exchange/DCE
protocol. Again, this provides Outlook client access, and I am not sure if
this is what we want. Can we use the NetLet to capture the information
being retrieved from exchange and display it using JSP rather than s
5. Writing a Java wrapper to the contents of the mail server using the Java
Mail API, although this does not solve the calendar problem. We can then
display whatever info we want on our JSP pages using the wrapper classes.

  • Oracle HRMS Integration with Microsoft Exchange Server 2007

I would like to know if it is possible to integrate Oracle HRMS 11.5.10.x with Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 using Microsoft Identity Lifecycle Management (ILM) 2007?
Has anyone ever come across something like this and successfully achieved it? Does anyone know of a step-by-step guide (or forum discussion) to achieve this?
    Response(s) will be highly appreciated.

We actually implemented integration of SAP with microsoft exchange server. It is not necessary for server and IIS to be in the same machine.

  • Calendar Connectivity with Microsoft Exchange Server

    Hi Everybody,
We want to use Calendar scheduling activity of Micrsoft Exchange Server in NW Portal Version 7 SP9. However we are stuck up with the following problem.
    The Scenario is like:
1)The IIS Server and MS Exchange Server are in same domain.
2)MSX-A component has been /copied installed on IIS Server 5.
    3)DLL registered.
4)We are using MS Oultook 2003 and Exchange Server 2003.
5)An IIS website has been created following the guidelines from a PDF document( Its wihtout SSO).
6)Logon Locally permissions given to all users.
When the CDO Version test is executed the common error "Microsoft Outlook not configured for Corporate/Work group access. Reconfigure MS Outlook and try again" is thrown.
As per the information from sdn only MS Outlook 2000 needs to be configured for this.
When the Data Retrieval test is executed an error message "CDO MAPI_E_NOT_INITIALIZED(80040605)" is shown.
Please share your views on this situation.
    Suresh Yadav

If I were you, I would create an OSS customer message for this.
Maybe a quick fix though... Have you installed Outlook 2003 on the same server as IIS is running on?  Have you run outlook at least once and connected it to your Exchange server, setting it as the default mail client?
Also, there is a note about what to do for exchange transports when you do a portal patch.  Applying those steps might be a good idea even if you have not done an upgrade.
    Good Luck.
    Regards,
    Graham.

  • UCM certified with Microsoft Exchange Server ??

    Hi,
Is UCM certified with Microsoft Exchange Server ? how can we integrate UCM with Microsoft Exchange Server as we have Desktop Integration Suite to integrate with MS Outlook..
    Thanks,

As for the link to the manual, for 10g it's here (I believe for 11g it will be similar if not the same): http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10316_01/cs/cs_doc_10/documentation/admin/managing_system_10en.pdf
It also mentions that SMTP protocol is used. Therefore, you will need to know the SMTP address of your Exchange Server.
As for who uses it, I believe it is the majority or at least a significant part of the clients' installed base. Note that it is one of the most widespread email servers.

  • IPhone 2.0 doesn't work with my exchange server

My tech support guys have been working on my iPhone for an entire day and couldn't get it to work with the server. They are telling me that the phone isn't compatible with the exchange server and it would require an entire overhaul of our server and reconfiguration to get it to work. I thought the new iPhone was supposed to be so easy to use. I am so ready to ditch my blackberry and so very disappointed that I can't get the iPhone to work with our server. Macintosh support was completely useless to help figure out this problem- as they said they don't offer support to third party software- yet this phone is supposed to work with the Microsoft Exchange Server?! Can anyone offer any help?
Below is the explanation my tech support gave me:
I wanted to reach out to you to update you with your iPhone working on the peacock exchange. After spending considerable time with both AT&T and Macintosh, getting the phone to operate with exchange as easy as Macintosh advertises, has ended in a failure. Your phone device itself, is properly updated and has all the correct settings. Where the problem lies for you is on the Microsoft server end. This is where the server will have to have additional software and updates installed which would effect and change the peacock network environment. This can be potentially accomplished, however it will need to be evaluated for the additional costs and potential risks to the server and environment. That’s why BlackBerry is so popular with business networks, because it does not affect the Microsoft Exchange mail services in any shape or form. Blackberry runs on its own server service which acts as the bridge to communicate with the Microsoft service.
AT&T was very helpful and tried everything they could to aid us. Macintosh on the other hand, was not very helpful. After a few unsuccessful attempts, Macintosh just came out and said that they do not support 3rd party software (i.e Microsoft Products). You can give Macintosh a try, and see if you end with better results.

Actually Blackberry has two options, one where they pull from your server and then push it to your phone as described. Alternatively you can install their software on your server to relay. Both require additional services, software and fees. Instead the iPhone uses the ActiveSync included in the Exchange server, which is the same protocol used to communicate with Windows Mobile based devices.

Essentially Apple does not configure Microsoft Exchange for your admins. We do provide a list of what versions of ActiveSync and which ActiveSync features we support. However, ActiveSync is part of the Microsoft Exchange server maintained and configured by your Exchange server admins.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • Actionable emails with MS Exchange Server

Using Exchange for e-mail, and my understanding is that we must enable IMAP/POP3 email on our Exchange server to get the BPEL actionable e-mails to work. But my Exchange experts strongly advise against us turning on these types of messages, at least on our main Exchange server. It is a global setting, and apparently one which creates numerous security risks.
Attempting to configure actionable emails with MS Exchange Server as the email system. Does this require enablement of IMAP/POP3 on the Exchange Server to get actionable emails to work? Specifically, for the EmailAccount/IncomingServerSettings within the ns_emails.xml file, what configurations are required when the email system is Exchange Server?
I'm looking to confirm or deny this configuration requirement for MS Exchange Server.
    Thanks,
    Tim

    Try http://www.lavantech.com/smtpmailer
This isnt the right place to market your product. If you've forgotten what this forum is used for, you better ask someone.
You don't have to refer users to your application and asking them to try it. Of course not for free. You will be reported if you continue.

    Hi micmac74.
Mail crashed for no apparent reason.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all the filesystem issues, if any, reinstall the Combo Update for the type of computer and the version of Mac OS X you’re using, unless this is the version of Mac OS X that came with the computer:
About the Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo Update
Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo Update for PowerPC
Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo Update for Intel
After installing the Combo Update, the computer may restart twice and the first restart may take several minutes. This is normal.
Take a look at the following articles for guidelines on how to properly install system updates:
    Troubleshooting installation and software updates
    Installing software updates
Basically, you should verify/repair the startup disk before installing the update, no applications should be running while installing it, and you may experience unexpected results if you have third-party system software modifications (not normal applications) installed.

  • Using MS Outlook settings to set up Evolution with an Exchange server

I am currently using Outlook with an Exchange server, and I would like to use Evolution instead.  I installed evolution and evolution-ews, and in going through the initial account setup, I am asked for a host URL and an OAB URL.  I'm not sure what these are and can't find them in Outlook.  Surely these paths are stored somewhere in Outlook, right?

When I used outlook before, I was able to log in through a web browser as another way to browse my mails when away from the office. The example in the link was
    https://server-ip.com/exchange
which is the same as I was able to use. Of course, I am almost sure the address can be different. With my limited knowledge, I would recommend just entering your credentials in Evolution and click "Authenticate". If all goes well, you should then be prompted for your password. If you don't have that option, try to login to that address from your web browser. If not, maybe you can get in touch with IT or the server admin to see if the outlook server is setup to allow webdav and if in fact that is the correct address.

  • Does Mail (3.6) work with MS Exchange Server 2003?

I'm struggling to get Mail to work with an exchange server.
Apparently, from the company's FAQs, we can hook up an iPhone, but alas not Mail.
With the iPhone directions, they talk about a "domain" field, which doesn't show up in Mail.
Any tips or clues would be appreciated.

I'm not entirely sure why this works now, but it does. Yay!
My problem evolved such that I, when I sent out through a different outgoing server, a recipient would see the address of the outgoing address, e.g. if I was using the gmail servers it would look like [email protected], and not the [email protected]
So as a work around I tested sending out messages with my [email protected] address in the Reply To field. That works.
Strangely, a Sent mailbox with for my [email protected] has appeared. Even messages that I've sent out with nothing in the Reply To field indicate that they've come from my [email protected] address.
    Keys to making it work:
    • Set up the exchange address as an IMAP account (not an exchange account)
    • Use the above referenced source forge tool
    • Partner with the company's IT people for whatever assistance they can offer
    • Use a Reply To field with the exchange, if required

  • How do I sync My Treo 700p with my exchange server in Outlook 2007

I am having trouble syncing my phone to Outlook ever since we installed an exchange server at the office.  It appears to be syncing, but the calendar and contact items do not come over.  It is as if it were still syncing to my old profile.  Any help would be appreciated.
Post relates to: Treo 700p (Sprint)

    VersaMail
Which type of VersaMail user are you?
I'm new to VersaMail and ...
My company uses Microsoft Outlook and supports Exchange ActiveSync
    My company uses Lotus Notes
My company or personal email provider uses POP3 or IMAP
I already use VersaMail on another device and ...I want to transfer my settings to my Treo 700p smartphone
Setting up a Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account in VersaMail
If your corporate email system uses Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, you may be able to use Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync on your device. Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync works with the Calendar, Contacts, and VersaMail applications on your device to directly download calendar events, contact information, and email messages from the server - without going through your desktop PC.
First, get this information from your IT department:
Microsoft Exchange 2003 mail server If your corporate mail system does not use this type of server, you cannot use Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. Mail server name The name of the mail server that provides wireless access to your mail system. Some companies do not give out this information because they do not want wireless access to the system. If you cannot obtain the server name, you cannot use Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. Proxy server Your IT department can tell you whether a proxy server is used and, if so, the name of the server. VPN requirement Some companies require a virtual private network (VPN) for accessing the server. Note: If you can't use Exchange ActiveSync because your email system doesn't meet all the requirements above, you may be able to use Good Mobile Messaging (formerly GoodLink) or Sprint PCS Business Connection instead.
If you set up VersaMail to work with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, Calendar and Contacts information automatically synchronizes directly with the Exchange server, along with email messages. You cannot choose to synchronize Calendar and Contacts info with Palm Desktop software or Outlook once you set up VersaMail to work with a Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account. If you do not want to synchronize Calendar and Contacts info with the server, do not set up VersaMail to work with a Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account.
Now you're ready to set up Exchange ActiveSync in VersaMail
On your device, press Power/End to wake up the screen, and then press Center to turn off Keyguard.
Press Applications and then select Email.
If you see the "Initial Setup" screen, select Continue to begin the setup.
    Enter the basic account information:
In the Account Name field, enter a descriptive name. This can be anything you wish, such as "Work Email."
Select the Mail Service pick list, and then select Exchange ActiveSync.

    Select Next.
Optional: If you selected Advanced ...
If you use a proxy server, enter the proxy server name and port number, and check the box if your server requires authentication. Check with your system administrator for this information. When you have finished, select Done.
Optional: If your system requires a VPN connection for email ...
A VPN connection enables you to log in to your corporate mail server through the company’s firewall (security layer). You need a VPN if your device and your company’s server are located on opposite sides of the firewall.
Check with your company’s server administrator to see if a VPN is required for accessing the corporate network. Your device software installation CD may contain a link to download VPN software for the device. If it does not, you need to purchase third-party VPN software. Learn more and install VPN.
Once you download or install the software, you set up a VPN connection in Preferences on your device.
After you set up a VPN, you need to connect to it in order to retrieve email messages from your corporate mail server. You must do this each time you open VersaMail to retrieve messages from the server.
Go to Applications and select Email.
    Open the menus .
Select Options, and then select Connect VPN.
Enter the username and password you use to log in to the VPN.
    Select OK.

  • SBS Server 2003 and Exchange Server - need to access but only have HDD

    Hi,
I have been redirected here from a Microsoft Community Forum. I am reasonably conversant with windows systems but am not a computer professional, just trying to see if I can solve a problem without spending a great deal of cash at this stage as
our office has been completely flooded out and we are still struggling to regroup....Here is the original question.
A couple of years ago our sever died completely, we kept the HDD's, but unfortunately not the CD's with the software on or the software keys. So I have now 2HDD's, the original boot partition and one with data on. both clean and fully working and
connected now to an old desktop. I can see everything fine, but I cannot boot from the original boot drive (I have tried simply disconnecting the desktop's boot drive and the windows logo shows for 1 second an d then chucks me back to the initial (DOS?) load.
The point is that I need to boot into SBS2003 with the exchange server installed in order to access a handful of old emails which have become extremely important, and also to run an old version of Filemaker server which will not run on any newer O.S.
I have tried, incidentally, a converter for the exchange files and I can see the directories but I think that unless I pay $xxx for something, which I cannot afford now, then I will not get the emails and all attachments back.
So my question is this - is there anyway I can use the original boot disk in a new hardware environment to restore both sbs 200 and exchange to working condition? I have paid vast sums for both so I do feel that I should be able to use them still!
    Many thanks
    Gor

    Many thanks.

You will also need to check server role requirement in exchange 2013. Please go through this link to calculate the server role requirement : http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2013/05/14/released-exchange-2013-server-role-requirements-calculator.aspx
2TB is recommended maximum database size for Exchange 2013 databases.
Here is the complete checklist to upgrade from exchange 2007 to 2013 : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff805032%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx
Meanwhile, to reduce the risks and time consumed during the completion of migration process, you can have a look at this proficient application(http://www.exchangemigrationtool.com/) that would also be
a good approach for 1500 users. It will help you to ensure the data security during the migration between exchange 2007 and 2013.

  • Outlook 2010 Exchange Server 2010 to Exchange Server 2013 Features

    Hi All
We have recently upgraded from Exchange Server 2003 to Exchange Server 2010. We are using the Outlook 2010 (32 bit) email client. When mailboxes were moved on to the new server various features inside the system were activated. For email Internal Out of
Office Messages, External Out of Office Messages, notifications in the email recipient bar when creating emails if the user was out of office.
What new features would be available with Outlook 2010 (32 bit) and Exchange 2013. And are they dependent on the Office Service Pack?
    Kind Regards
Please note that I have previously posted this in another forum but was advised to post here in this forum.

    Hi,
I find your post on Office forum:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/fc538968-212c-411c-8ce8-0ef1d7acfcca/outlook-2010-exchange-server-2010-to-exchange-server-2013-features?forum=outlook
The Steve's answer is comprehensive, great links on Exchange 2013 new features and removed features.
About "And are they dependent on the Office Service Pack?", I will give the answer.
Based on my knowledge, when new SP releases, it include enhancements in security and compliance, architecture and administration, and user experiences.
For example, Exchange 2013 SP1, it connects to Outlook 2013 SP1 via MAPI over HTTP.
If you want to know more about the Exchange new features, please see Exchange Team Blog.
Find blog about SP1 for your reference:
