Unhandled exception for uploading BW roles into portal

Hi experts:
I got the following warning in the log viewer when I uploade 2 BW roles, ZB_SAP_BW_DEVELOPER
ZB_SAP_BW_WEB_ADMINISTRATOR, into portal (7.3). They are copies of the standard SAP roles. I succcessfully uploaded other BI roles. These are the only ones that can not be uploaded. There is no error on the portal. Upload completed 100% but these 2 roles are not in the uploaded role list. I checked sm12 and they are not locked. Wonder if anyone has had the same issue and solution?
Log viewer warning:
The following unhandled exception: [java.lang.NullPointerException: while trying to load from an object array loaded from local variable 'templateUrlArr'] was detected in [Thread[RoleUpload_1312911561066,5,Dedicated_Application_Thread]]

I am also getting the same while uploading the BW 3.5 role to Portal 6.0, Role gets created but iviews throws the same error as you are getting.

Importing CRM roles into Portal

Hi All,
I am using CRM-5.0 as backend and ER-6.0 with it. Both of them are sharing the same datasource. But if I create a new role in CRM I can't find it from portal. Whereas the users created in CRM are visible in portal. How can I import all the roles available in CRM to portal? My System landscape is working properly.

Hi Indranil
SAP/CRM roles are built with transaction PFCG. Portal roles are built using portal tools. They have no direct connection.
In theory you can upload SAP/CRM roles into the portal to become portal roles, but what do you gain? Every time you change the SAP/CRM role you need to upload it again..
You are better to make portal roles that are assigned to portal groups that are the same as the PFCG roles. Maintain the portal roles manually, probably with a subset of the all the functions in the CRM role and assign them to the portal group that represents the FCG role.

I would like to know which is the best approach to integrate existing WLS web applications into a 8.1 portal environment. By "integrating" I mean a single sign-on and sign-out scenario. The portal user should only log in once and the session information should be conveyed to the other application(s). The other applications could run in full-screen portlet with its existing navigation. The existing applications are running on different server instances (and also hardware) and different versions (6.1, 7.0 and 8.1). I would be grateful for any suggestions or best-practices. Atch import of Backend roles into Portal 7.3 ehp1

Hi,
We have 150 roles we need to import to our portal from our BW backend. Does anyone know a way to import a batch of roles with user assignment ticked from a text file ?
We can used the tools in the content admin and enter Z* but this brings in too many roles.

Hey Jim,
There may not be a single standard program or transaction for mass update/upload of roles. We had to develop a Z-program for a similar functionality. You may use BAPI_USER_CREATE, BAPI_USER_PROFILES_ASSIGN, BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT.

Integrating CE7.2 UWL into Portal 7.0

Hi Experts,
      We had CE7.2 portal in that we had one UWL , here my requirement is we need to integrate CE7.2 UWL to EP Portal 7.0 UWL , so what ever tasks are created in CE it has automatically needs to update in EP Portal7.0
     If anybody have an idea please help on this.

I need to mention one more thing
    Client is not interested to use FPN but I am not aware of his problem , so the BPM related applications and some of the composite applications are not able to develop using Portal , Thats why they preferred CE7.2 portal, but End user using normal EP Portal 7.0 , so what ever developed applications in CE7.2 they needs to access through Portal
   In future also they want to maintain the communication between both the portals , why because if they want to develop any BPM , or any composite applications in future they wants to access through portal
If you have thought for to come out this situation , let me know ASAP

Error after Integrating of Xcelsius SWF into Enterprise Portal

Hi all,
I integrated Xcelsius SWF file into portal using Business Objects Integration Kit - iView Template. I can see dashboard in Portal. Its working fine. I have Refresh Button in the Dashboard. If I refresh the dashboard , it shows cannot access External Data. Failed to get the document information(LO26315).
How can I resolve? Help me in this regard.
I am using BOE 3.1 and LO 3.1.

With a Live Office connection, you would typically use the URL iView and the opendocument URL to integrate the dashboard into the Enterprise Portal. There are existing posts on this forum about opendocument and Xcelsius dashboards.
Obviously you need to make sure the dashboard refreshes fine outside of the portal, for instance from Infoview.
Then, you need to look at the cross domain constraints : have both Infoview and Enterprise Portal in the same domain or use crossdomain.xml. They are lots of posts on this forum about that too.

R/3 Transaction Iviews vs Imported ABAP Roles on Portal

Hi,
In one of our requirement, Business needs to set up such that client should be able to have web based access to R/3 Transaction through Portal.
We can achieve that by creating system in portal and create Transaction iview with required T-code of R/3.
Whats wrong if we can define roles in ABAP system for a user with full hierirachy and import those ABAP roles into portals.and through portal we can give unified web based access to imported roles?
Does both the possibilities accomplish our need?what are main gaps between these two methods?
I want to go by Import method,Any suggestions please?

I agree with you that the ABAP role has a complicated menu structure and uploading has to be done at regular basis.
Is there any mechanism through which any change in ABAP role structure in R/3 reflects in portal exactly so that there is no need of regular uploading?
If not?So in which business scenario uploading of ABAP roles into portals are helpful?whats the use?
Coming back to your second solution
It is much easier to have one transaction iView that starts transaction SMEN, which presents the user's full SAP menu in a single screen
But about about a user if he wants to navigate from this transaction SMEN to another transactions to which he is authorised to(R/3 Back-end)through this single Transaction iview.
In other words if we want to have access to 5 transaction iviews in R/3,do we need to create 5 corresponding transaction iviews in portals?How to achieve this requirement in a better way?

Problem with Print functionality in the BI reports integrated into portal

We have some BI reports integrated into portal.and we have a Print button,which is a standard SAP functionality,doesnot work.When we click that print button it takes forever to load the page and print it.

Can you clarify on your statement "You can run 3.x queries normally". I am currently declaring the bex web application string in the BW iview created in this format "infocube=0D_FI_C01&query=0D_FI_C01_Q001" and i am not defining the report template anywhere in the iview properties but still the standard template is displayed.
Pls let me know how to run 3.x queries normally.
Also i am trying to integrate only reports which are developed for BW 3.x format in BI system but still the data is not displayed.
Pls let me know incase the SP level of both EP and BI portal are to be considered for this.
EP 7 portal is on SP9 where as BI 7 is on sp12.
Also i noticed the EP portal doesn't have BI Java Addon. will this matter for displaying reports in BW 3.x format.
As you suggested workaround i tried to create a url iviews directly taking the links from the reports displayed in BI portal , i was able to preview the report but when i added those iview reports to role, the reports are constantly loading as it is trying to contact BI system. There are being loaded constantly with nothing displayed on screen.

Reg SRM 7.0 BP integration into Portal

Hi Experts,
I have integrated SRM 7.0 BP into Portal. I have got all the business content provided by SAP. But, I am unable to view the preview of many iViews provided with the business content after the Busines Package integration.
Wheneven I am trying to open the iViews, I am getting a portal runtime error for many iViews. I have checked with the permissions and everything looks fine. Also, the connection is successfully established between the SRM backend system and the Portal and also the usermappin is done successfully.
Can any one of you tell what would be the reason for the Portal Runtime Error that is being given whenever I am tryin to preview the iViews.

Please login to nwa to see the error you are getting when trying to preview the iView.
http://<hostname>:<port number>/nwa
User should have Super Administrator role to see the contents.
Monitoring - Logs & Traces - In Predefined iView - Last 24 hours
In the Column Customization click on user to see the error you or the other user is facing.
I think the system alias name mentioned in iView and the one you defined for the system you created for the backend system are not same.
check these things, and you must be able to solve the issues.

This is the error that I got while integrating WD appl into Portal. I have Created a Folder in Content Administrator->Niew iView->com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap
then selected Webdynpro.
Followed by created an iView by selecting appropriate settings. What went wrong. But the WD appl is working fine individually. Please help me

Have you create IView properly?.
Here is the step-by-step procedure to create a web dynpro iView in portal:
1. Logon to portal.
2. Content Administration->Portal Content.
3. Right Click on the folder 'Portal Content'.
4. Select 'iView' ->'New'
5. In the Template Selection, select 'SAP Web Dynpro iView' and click 'Next'
6. In the 2nd step, Give iView Name and iView ID and a prefix. Next.
7. Select application variant, say, 'Java' in the 3rd step. Next.
8. In the 4th step, select the System (Your WAS System), give the project name of your webdynpro, like, local/ABC_Project in the WebDynproNameSpace. In the Application Name, enter the application name of your Web Dynpro Application, say ABC_App. Next.
9. Finish.
10. In the left panel, now you will see an iView has been created.
11. Create necessary role/workset and assign this iView for an user.
