Integration Lync 2013 Online (Cloud) with Cisco CUCM 9.1

HI
First i Don't have a physical or virtual Lync server in my network,
Do i have any chance to migrate with my Cisco CUCM 9.1
Thanks.
Ahmed Elshalh

Lync online won't support back-end integration with CUCM on prem. But if looking to try client side integration, Cisco's CUCI supports Lync online.
CUCI: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/unified-communications/uc-integration-tm-microsoft-lync/index.html
O365 support: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucimoc/8_6/cucimocReleaseNote8_6.html#wp363808
Keep in mind CUCI is a Cisco supported solution and not a Microsoft one, also CUCI disables most of the Lync client functionality.

  • Integrating Oracle Fusion Sales Cloud with Oracle Business Intelligence Cloud Service (BICS)

Ever wondered how to integrate Oracle Fusion Sales Cloud with Business Intelligence Cloud Service (BICS) ?
The blog outlines how to programmatically load Sales Cloud data into BICS, making it readily available to model and display on BICS dashboards.
    http://www.ateam-oracle.com/integrating-oracle-fusion-sales-cloud-with-oracle-business-intelligence-cloud-service-bics/

I wouldn't try installing Oracle VM itself on an EC2 instance, as EC2 is essentially Xen itself. Rather, you should just be able to transport existing Oracle VM images to the EC2 cloud. I think this is what you mean, but your opening paragraph is slightly ambiguous. :)
From a VPN perspective, I'd use OpenVPN as it has clients for all major operating systems (Windows, MacOS X, Linux) that are fairly easy to package and install. Packages for OpenVPN exist in EPEL so it's easy to install on OEL5. You could also consider using a firewall instead of a VPN and only allowing connectivity from specific IP addresses/ranges. This has the benefit of not requiring client software, but it does require a fixed IP address/range on the client-side.

  • Lync 2013 FE pool with two server limitions

    Hi,
I have some query about Lync 2013 FE pool with two FE servers.
    1. if I deploy two servers in the one FE pool so what happen if one fe server down ?
    2. will windows fabric work?
    Thanks.

I don't completely agree with this. I have built a few environments with only 2 servers in the Front End pool (despite recommending that three be deployed)
    1. Anyway in the event that one FE fails, users are temporarily disconnected and then the client will re-sign them in to the second server.
    2. Two servers is supported, but not recommended. See this link (it also contains how to handle two servers - scroll to bottom) http://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/library/gg412996.aspx.
The biggest issue with only having two servers is losing quorum. If both servers are shutdown at the same time, you can run into issues starting them back up. (it is recoverable by resetting the fabric/quorum, but it's a pain)

  • Integrating Lync 2013 with IBM Lotus notes

    Hi All,
One of our customer raised the below query:
We have Lync Online Meetings Connector for Lotus Notes that will work with Lync 2010.  You can refer the below article:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/hh527742(v=office.14).aspx
However, partner is not sure about the same meeting connector available for Lync 2013 when we have Lotus notes email system.
Partner wants to schedule the Lync 2013 meeting but don’t have Outlook client as Exchange server mail system is not used in their environment. They have Lotus notes email system.
    Question:
Do we have Lync 2013 Meeting connector for Lotus notes?
Please advise. Thank you for your time.

... Good question.  I don't have a Notes environment to test in, but you could use the 2013 client to connect to the 2010 back end to test.  I'd download the free Lync Basic client and see if you can replicate the functionality you need:

  • Lync 2013 Standard Edition on Cisco UCS E-Series

    Hello,
We have a working Lync 2013 deployment:
    - Front-End Enterprise Pool consisting of 3 FE servers
    - one Edge Server
    - one Back-End server
    - one Mediation Server
    - one IP PBX gateway, where ITSP's SIP trunks end.
Because we have geographically distributed offices, we are considering deploying of branch offices deployments.
Technet recommends to use SBA for branch offices where there are less than 1000 users. But in case of WAN outage, no conferencing will be available for branch users.
Lync 2013 Standard edition branch deployment would offer all Lync features in case of WAN outage.
In every branch, we consider deploying a Cisco ISR G2 router for terminating branch SIP trunks. This equipment have option to add Cisco UCS E-Series blade that supports CPU with hardware virtualization and supports decent amount of RAM (up to 16GB and up
    to 48GB).
Have anyone experience with deploying Lync Standard Edition on this equipment - Cisco UCS E-Series blades? In every branch office there are up to 50 - 500 users that will use Lync.
    Thanks,
    Andrei Moraru Endava

    Hi,
I don’t think you can deploy Lync server 2013 on Cisco UCS E-Series blades.

  • Lync 2013 as PSTN gateway for CUCM

    Hello,
this is an oddity and not really an advertised feature with Lync, but:
we have a really small footprint of CUCM devices, mostly VTC units that would like to be able to call out to PSTN using Lync infrastracture. We have a fully featured deployment of Lync 2013 used company wide 2000+ users.
We created a SIP trunk between CUCM & Lync mediation server, we defined New IP/PSTN Gateway in topology and published it, configured SIP trunk, profiles, etc in CUCM. The purpose of this is to only dial outbound from the CUCM devices, the CUCM devices
do not have to be reached from outside or by Lync users.
We are able to place calls from a VTC endpoint registered to CUCM via Lync SIP trunk to all Lync users, but we are unable to dial out to PSTN.
Most configuration refer to configuring Lync to use CUCM for PSTN connectivity not viceversa. Is there any documentation on achieving this?
Call flow would be like this.
VTC Endpoint > CUCM ----SIP Trunk----> Lync mediation > PSTN
We already have PSTN access built in Lync, we just need to bridge between the CUCM direct SIP trunk and PSTN.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
To enable inter-trunk routing, associate and configure PSTN usage records to this trunk configuration. The PSTN usages associated to this trunk configuration will be applied for all incoming calls through the trunk that is not originating from a Lync endpoint.

  • Is Lync 2013 perfectly compatible with Office 2010?

Microsoft Office 2010 and Lync 2013 are two diferrent instances, but they use some common elements.
In our company we have over a hundred MS Office 2010 licences and we dont need/afford to change them all to 2013. Now we want to install Lync 2013 and I wonder if there could be compatibility issues or, if Lync 2013 can modifiy the common files they use,
so that certain functions in Office 2010 will not be available or not work properly.
Is there a risk of this happening or they can work together "in complete harmony"? This is very important to me and I cannot afford to make a mistake. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

    Hi Cristi,
Checkout these Lyncs on compatibility and interoperability:
    Lync 2013 Compatibility http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg412817.aspx
    Client Interoperability http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj204672.aspx
As far as having Lync 2013 & Office 2010 on the same PC, largely it SHOULD be ok and I've not had many issues. The exception to this was on a recent Citrix deployment, where for some reason running Lync 2013 was causing the Office 2010 instance to rerun
everytime it was started. All desktops were ok though.
My suggestion is to make sure you thoroughly test with every scenario that you can think of before rolling out to the masses.

  • Lync 2013 Cumulative updates with coexistence 2010

    Hello
I am pretty new lync admin, i have successfully done a coexistence with 2010 and 2013
I just need clarification on the steps for a 2013 standard edition cu updates.
From the site http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2809243  I am seeing that I need to
    1) run LyncServerUpdateInstaller.exe
    2)run Install-CsDatabase -ConfiguredDatabases -SqlServerFqdn SE.FQDN -Verbose
    3) Do not run Install-CsDatabase -CentralManagementDatabase until after full 2013 migration
    4) Enable the Mobility service, run the following cmdlet:
    Enable-CsTopology
    5) Run %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Lync Server 2013\Deployment\Bootstrapper.exe
Just need those steps confirmed and..
    1) Just to confirm that I dont need to worry about output of Get-CsPoolUpgradeReadinessState command
    2) We dont have Mobility service, do I still need to run Enable-CsTopolgy for Standard edition?
    Thanks !

    Thank Iain
Just to confirm it is lync 2013 CU updates I am trying to perform on standard pool
    When i run the CsPoolUpgradeReadinessState
I get State:insufficientActiveFrontEnds and IsReadForUpgrade True
According to the update notes, they only speak of running cspoolupgradereadiness on Enterprise edition pool.
So i just wanted to know if the output of cspoolupgradereadinessState can be ignored or concerned about for the updates.

  • Lync 2013 and problem with copy/paste from SQL Mgmt Studio.

    Hi Everyone,
Recently one of ours programmers noticed a very interesting issue which is a real pain in the a## for him and his colleagues. It was all fine with Lync client 2010, problem started when moved some people to 2013 client.
When someone sends him a message with SQL Code, and he is pasting it into SQL mgmt std. he gets dashes "-" instead of spaces " ".
I thought this is a local PC issue, but:
    1. On 2010 it worked, stopped all of a sudden when they changed lync client to 2013
    2. They are pasting code on the SERVER not local SQL mgmt std. on their client machines
    3. Even if I send him a code from Lync 2010 and he is pasting that from his 2013 client - he gets "-" dashes, so I guess it is not important from where I send the message, but from where he is copying it.
As for now, I have noticed that problem with guys from England and region of APAC - they have lync 2013 client already.
Really appreciate any help as I donot have any point where to start troubleshooting...
    Cheers guys,

    Hi,
I test the issue with my colleague and didn't find the same issue.
    Here is the screenshot:
So please check if Lync Server 2013 and all the issued Lync 2013 client update to the latest version firstly, it not update to the latest version, update it and then test again.

  • Lync 2013 sql mirroring with different doamin sql server.

    Hi,
can I create lync BE sql mirroring with different domain sql server with one AD forest?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
You can note the sentence “Using Topology Builder or cmdlets to set up and remove SQL mirroring is supported only when the primary, mirror, and witness (if desired) servers all belong to the same domain. If you want to set up SQL mirroring among servers
in different domains, see your SQL Server documentation.” In the link below:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj204992.aspx
So I think in Lync server if you use Topology Builder or cmdlets to set up and remove SQL mirroring only if when the primary, mirror, and witness (if desired) servers all belong to the same domain. If you want to set up SQL mirroring among servers in different
domains you may do some steps on SQL server and you can also post a case on SQL forum, thank you for your understanding.

  • Lync 2013 and SSL with edge

    Dear All,
It is always come to be a confusing, about certificate when it comes to lync 2013 and edge. suppose i have domain abc.com and i have to plan to add additional sip domain like xyz.com, abc.com, dfg.com etc. and my default domain would be abc.com so my naming
option would be like this meet.abc.com/sipdomain/meet. I am little confuse how this is teckle in frontend and edge role. Do i have to get new request in edge or have to just import certificate generated in frontend and import into edge.

    Thanks Eric and Thamara,
So for internal CA, which means i have to install active directory certiificate and no need to buy certificate from public authority. and  which include following entries on first front end server admin.defaultsipdomain.com, dialin.defaultsipdomain,
     lyncdiscoverinternal.defaultsipdomain,  lyncdiscover.defaultsipdomain.com
Or i should i get it from public authority and add all edge and front end requirement and reverse proxy in ucc certificate  and use same to import into front end and edge and reverse proxy.

  • Lync 2013 Hybrid deployment with resource forest scenario on-premise

    Hi there,
Im starting to deploy this scenario of Lync on-premise in resource forest with Lync Online:
I´am not finding any documentation about this specific scenario. I wish to know how the flow between forests will be to have users in lync online and users on premise.
Thank you very much in advance for your help.
    Joaquin Gonzalez

    Hi Joaquin,
You need to deploy Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager (FIM) 2010 to manage the life cycle of user accounts.
In a resource forest topology, one forest is dedicated to running server applications, such as Microsoft Exchange Server and Lync Server. The resource forest hosts the server applications and a synchronized representation of the active user object, but it
does not contain logon-enabled user accounts. The resource forest acts as a shared services environment for the other forests where user objects reside. The user forests have a forest-level trust relationship with the resource forest. When you deploy Lync
Server in this type of topology, you create one disabled user object in the resource forest for every user account in the user forests. If Microsoft Exchange is already deployed in the resource forest, the disabled user accounts might already exist. A directory
synchronization product, such as MIIS, Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager (FIM) 2010, or Microsoft Identity Lifecycle Manager (ILM) 2007 Feature Pack 1 (FP1), manages the life cycle of user accounts. When a new user account is created in one of the user
forests or a user account is deleted from a forest, the directory synchronization product synchronizes the corresponding user representation in the resource forest.

  • Possible to Have Lync 2013 MSP Installer With Credentials?

So I am working on a silent lync installer to push out to all my clients, using a custom .MSP file. I am wondering is it possible to include their logged in credentials to the installer? So when they first open Lync after the install, it just logs right
in, without needing to change the Sign-in Address.
Currently it defaults to "[email protected]"

    Hi,
Base on my Knowledge, it is impossible to achieve it with the .MSP file.

  • Lync 2013 - Internal Call with net traffic send to AV Public IP

    Hello
    Firstly brief description of topology:
    - Each user is in respective Site, both networks are internal to our Lync topology

Can you Please tell me if that is correct and if not how to track why its like that ?
    - call is working peer-to-peer
    - Similar traffic to Public AV IP appears also if User A calls Peer in the same network.

Any tips to isolate it a bit more ? I'll provide more info as required.
    Thank You

    I appreciate your response.
The first one i already know and in fact it creates my doubt:
i can find there:  "Within these traces will often be connection attempts to every single IP address provided in the candidate list, including the relay and reflexive candidates"
According to this sentence my behavior is correct as AV Public IP is in candidates list. Thing is if it should be there in candidates. Based on article i understand that ICE is done on Edge server. Based on  great presentations of Thomas Binder
here  "clients for ICE part are always connecting to Edge", ( as at the moment of call peer is not aware of remote peer location )
In my case on Edge there is nothing about my call in contrast to FE where i have all ICE work in SIP logs.
    Simply:
For internal p2p calls - ICE is done on FrondEnd or Edge ?
For internal p2p calls - should AV Public IP be included in candidates ?
Second link doesn't help to answer that question either :( as focuses on ext - int call scenario )
I believe i am missing some basics here. Thank You & Regards
