Has anyone been able to run a Forte application under Windows NT Terminal
Server 4.0 and Citrix Metaframe?
We are looking at the possiblility of running our Forte application in this
environment to help simplify the deployment of new application versions, the
ability to run in a heterogenous environment and the ablilty to run where
line speeds are as low as 56k.
In the past we have had problems running our Forte application in this
envorionment.
If anyone has done this successfully, could you please contact me.

I have done by following the given link.
Server status is in Running mode in weblogic. But the link is not openning.
The link we have tried to access analytics is: http://123.34.45.567:7002/OBIEE_Deployment/saw.dll?Dashboard
123.34.45.567 is the ip address and 7002 is the port name we have given. The only thing we have not done is changing the port no from 7001 to 7002
Is link is correct.?
and also under Deployments in weblogic console, the State of OBIEE is New, not Active. We selected it Updated it and then started it but still same.

D2kwtuil on Citrix Metaframe

I have a form that calls then win_api_dialog.save_file procedure from the d2kwutil.pll library. When run in client/server on my Win XP machine (from the developer tool) everything works fine.
When I try and run this same form on our Citrix/Metaframe server (on a win 2k platform) from my win xp client machine, the call to the procedure fails, but generates no error message.
Also, if I try to add either message('text'); calls in the when-button-pressed trigger that makes the call these also fail, with no error message, yet they work fine when running from just the developer machine.
Setting debug_messages=YES shows me that the when-button-pressed trigger is being fired, but nothing else happens.
The winxp developer machine has been patched with patchset 15. (So now running at 6.0.8.24.1)
I've checked that the d2kwutil.pll is in the application directory, and that d2kwtu60.dll is in the <oracle_home>/bin directory.
The pll and the application forms have all been re-compiled on the winxp machine using the 6.0.8.24.1 patched developer tool.
Would anybody have any thoughts on where the problem may lie?

I know I'm ressurecting a dead thread, but the other thing to try is to check if the Citrix Server has a Reg Entry called D2KWUTIL_PATH (usually under HKLM\Software\Oracle)
If so, then thats an override as to where the D2K file is usually kept and your user will need access there as well.
There is also a bug in TS/Citrix that the "App Paths" section of the registry that some developers use (dont know for sure if Forms Runtime does) gets skipped when you run a published app or a "Run on login" in straight TS. This is because that section of the registry is processed from explorer.exe and when you publish an individual app, no explorer.exe is running in that user's context.
App Paths = HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\Name of EXE
The most common use of this "feature" was to prepend entries to the PATH statement, but only in the context of specific applications runtime environments. (so as not to affect all the apps on the box). This leads to a situation where the developer sticks some important DLL in a folder outside the WorkingDir or the Path Statement and then adds something to App Paths to get to it simply by name. Then the App gets loaded on Citrix and wham, it doesnt work, or some part of it at least. Copying the required files into the Working Dir of the app (same folder as the EXE usually) tends to fix this.

Error while generating excel report on citrix Metaframe

Stickyness means that once a user is directed to a server through the load balancer, that user will remain on the server he was first load balanced to for the duration of their connection. Otherwise, every tcp connection that a user makes is load balanced to whatever servers are configured. There are severalways to configure stickyness. You can do it via:
-source IP
-source IP and destination port
-text string in a cookie or URL
-SSL session ID

I'm afraid I never completed the testing, a long story but the client thought allowing Citrix access over the Internet to non corporate machines was too unsecure.
I'm curious though as to why your set up does work even if it is for a short time.
I'm enabled Smart tunneling and this did provide the correct IP address of the Citrix Farm head, instead of the ASA acting as a proxy, you might want to try that

Too memory used under CITRIX Metaframe

Hi to all,
My java application has to run under CITRIX Metaframe. It uses 60-100Mb for ever single user logged to the application server. Every user has only 120Mb available, so this is a very big problem.
How can I reduce the amount of total allocated memory?
Is there a particular -X option that can help me?

I am assuming that you believe that there are 10 processes because that is what ps shows. However on Linux, each thread in a java program shows up in ps as a separate process. The memory for each "ps process" corresponding to a java thread is shared among all the threads of the JVM. Therefore if you see 10 processes with 20MB each you are not using 200MB, just 20.
If you are running 4 JVMs then you would be using 40MB not 800 as shown in ps.
I think Sun's JVM for linux is quite good (as I use it every day). If you need to run so many JVMs you should invest in more memory.
BTW, How much memory is installed in your system?

Why these Remote-Windonws are diplayed ? Do I have to set a path ?
2.) There occurs after a time when the Query should be changed ? No entry in SM21 ? An unexpected 'unable to show modal form within this context' error occured in wdbrlog"

XCelsius Engage Server 2008 integration with Crystal Reports Server 2008

Hi there....
I am kinda new to XCelsius and am confused with the integration points XCelsius Engage Server offers for 'Crystal Server 2008' users.
The trial install package for XCelsius Engage Server (SP1) has a binary installation for XCelsius and then for Adobe LifeCycle DataServices. The installation document in the distribution does not talk about what the 'engage server' part is? and how it can get integrated to an existing CS 2008 installation ?
any suggestions/pointers would be appreciated. Also is there a document/white paper explaining how this whole family of CS and XCelsius products fits together ?

To answer your question.....No, I do not. But we have run Crystal Reports using P6 data.
As far as I know Crystal Reports only needs a database of some kind in order to do its thing. Are you attempting to set up a "real time" data link (ODBC) to Crystal via SDK?
If not, you could just build your own P6 exports or develop your own reports that would provide the data for feeding Crystal Reports. Maybe set up an automated Job Service task to run a batch of reports on a daily basis.

We are setting up a new environment for a client based on Citrix XenApp Server 6 running on Windows Server 2008 R2 which is virtualized on a VMWare hypervisor. Client uses Firefox and we need to know if it is going to work or not. If not, what is the root cause (i.e. XenApp, Windows Server 2008 R2, virtualization).

I only ask because, in the past we were able to install a related product, InDesign CS5 in Citrix. In fact, Adobe had published documentation for doing exactly that: here. I just haven't seen anything similar for Illustrator CS6 and wanted to check.

Using iChat to communicate with Pidgin users on a Citrix Presentation Serve

We have been using iChat on OS X and Pidgin on Windows XP in our environment for several months now. We use Bonjour as the protocol so it makes for a very lightweight easy, inexpensive IM solution on our network (no server component needed).
I hadn't noticed it before today, but I was communicating with a Pidgin user who was using a Citrix Presentation Server login (running Pidgin within that session), and the name that iChat displayed as the person I was talking to was not the actual person that was talking to me. iChat was displaying a different user who was also using Pidgin in another current session on the Citrix box. If I fired up Pidgin on my XP virtual machine and ran Pidgin from there, the user name is identified properly.
So it appears that iChat is tying the user name of the IM session to the IP address and then looking it up from the list, which results in a random mis-identification of the IM user on the Citrix session. BTW, there was a Bonjour update a few days ago, it may actually be Bonjour rather than iChat itself. Anyone have any suggestions, ideas, bug fixes?

It does seem a bit odd.
Note:
By default Bonjour broadcasts and receives data on port 5353 on UDP Protocol to let other Macs know it is there (Linked to mDNSResponder in Activity Monitor).

Hi,
This depends on which IM you are using. The most imp IM to be deactivated is IM for ATP Check. If this is kept active, then Sales order confirmation will be searched in APO - which will not be available.
All other IMs for master data and other transaction data are not required to be deactivated.
However, once your APO system is up, make sure that you Re-initialize all IMs (except IM for Location) in sequence, using transaction RIMODINI. Rather than reactivation, this transaction deletes transaction data and re initializes. Thus both systems will be in sync.

Citrix Xen Server on UCS-B with Palo Adapter

I am attempting to install Citrix Xen server (tried 5.6 and 5.5) on a UCS-B series blade running the Palo Adapter.
During the install we are asked to install drivers.
I used "kmod-enic-xen-1.1.1j-0.x86_64.rpm" from virtual media and it stated no drivers were found.
I tried extrating this to .gz and further to .cpio with the same results.
Any input or direction would be appreciated.

Palo or CIsco VIC is not currently supported on XenServer 5.6, we are currently engaged with Citrix to add that support, timelines unknown at this point.
Qlogic CNA (M71KR-Q) and EMulex CNA (M71KR-E) both work fine with XS 5.6

Outlook 2010 using Citrix Presentation server does not save mail profile, O365 Mailbox

We had on-premise exchange 2003 mailboxes which have been migrated to O365. Some users access their mailboxes(O365) using Outlook 2010 which is published using Citrix Presentation server 4.5. The AD accounts TS profile is pointing to \\%computername%\Tprofiles\template.man
These users used outlook 2003 with this config with the on premise Exchange 2003 server and it saved the outlook profile. After outlook 2010 is configured to connect to the users O365 mailbox all is fine until the user logs off and logs back in, the profile
setting is lost and has to re-setup. I should mention that Outlook does not auto discover the users mailbox but is able to if the outlook wizard is run either from desktop or RDP however that is not a concern unless these two are related
issues. I am not sure if the issue is with Citrix ( I am not a Citrix admin) and some configuration fine tuning needs to happen on that front or the issue is somewhere else, setting up a roaming profile is kind of ruled out since this was not needed
with Outlook 2003 and Exchange 2003.
What would be the best way to get this working ? any help will be appreciated.

It seems that deploying a PRF file is best based on the research as well as some of the links which Amy shared. Users are using Outlook 2010 using the /importprf switch however with outlook 2010 the " Encrypt data between Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft
Exchange" is enabled by default this causes some of the users to be continuously prompted for authentication, I was able to manually fix the issue by disabling "Encrypt data between Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Exchange"

We can't do this manually but want to modify the PRF file to disable this. So far the only documentation referring to this is for Outlook 2003 to
enable this, it was disabled by default with this version of outlook.
