Integration of external applications with E- Recruitment Business Package

Hello All,
We are planning for an implementation on E-Recruitment Business Package on EP.
We need to know whether it is possible in addition to E- Recruitment features provided we would be able to Integrate custom created/ external applications like ID Card creation of employee etc.
Do let us know about the feasibility of this scenario.

You are refering to which external applications ? are they from ECC or third party?
If you develope custom applicatios in webdynpro/bsp in back end you can easily integrate it in EREC business package on portal.

Integrate an Apex Application with the E-Business Suite 11i

I'm currently working to get connected to APEX (Application Express 3.2.1.00.11) using an E-Business Suite 11i form function then using the ICX cookie.
I'm using a document created by Rod West(consultant at Cabot Consulting) to help me doing this connection.

I always have errors when I try to get connected using the method suggested in the document.
The error I have received is :

This error seems to come from wfa_sec.getsession(:P101_USERNAME) used in the Before Header process of the login page(Page101).

I have done a "GRANT EXECUTE ON apps.WFA_SEC" to my APEX Schema, so the APEX Schema should have access to everything used by the package... I have tried to "GRANT EXECUTE ON" ICX_SESSIONS but I still have the same error...
Do I need to do other "GRANT" ? Have you experienced the same problem ?

Yes, I have already created synonyms but I still got the same errors...the error seems to be related to a table used in the package icx_sec...I have tried to grant and create synonym for tables icx_transactions and icx_sessions but I still got the error. Any ideas ?
I have also tried to use the method (OWA_COOKIE.send) suggested in the 2007 version of the Rod West's document (the method you mentionned in the thread) and I'm able to get connected to my APEX application using the E-Business Menu but I have an intermittent problem with this method.. In fact, some days I'm able to get connected to APEX at the first try but some days I received "Invalid Login Credentials" at the first try and at the second try I get connected...And we haven't found any reasons yet for the intermittent "Invalid Login Credentials" ?
Have you experienced the same intermittent problem on your side ?

How do i open an application with an iWeb link so that when people click the link it opens an application on the computer? e.g. Link called play now and it opens Gameranger straight from the browser when the link is clicked.

For security concerns I, for one, would not want a Web page to load or launch other applications based on links or downloads.
Only a handful of files are considered "safe" and even then the end user can turn that feature "off".

Integrating WebDynpro ABAP applications with UWL for workflow in Portal

We want to integrate an abap webdynpro application as task in the workflow with UWL.

But no answer on the following issue:
We use the transaction SWFVISU to prepare standard setting for our task. This defines how a task is executed, once you select the task subject line on the worklist.

Integration of Oracle applications with IDM

Hi All,
Please trow some light on how do we integrate Oracle applications with Oracle IDM(Identity Management).
Is MRM capable of providing inbounding and outbounding webservices. If not do we have any adapters for integeating the other applications with IDM.
What is the good practice to integrate a BPEL service with IDM.

Start external application with oracle job

I'm trying to start external program with oracle job.
Here is an example (I used SYS as SYSDBA):

Issue with ESS/MSS Business package 1.41

I had an issue with ESS/MSS recently we deployed Business package 1.41 it contains HCM Forms and Process also,
and we assigned the standard Manager-self-service role & Employee-self-service-role to test user but when the user is trying to access the standard application he is getting Portal runtime error.
   Is there any configuration is need from HRFunctional side and Basis side

IPhone Application with Addons or Extra Packages

I'm looking to start development on an iPhone application, but I have a question on how extending the app would work.
The base application needs to rely on packages for content, which themselves will be individually purchased through the iTunes store. These packages add additional content to the base application, and should not replace the app or existing content previously purchased.
Is a model like this possible?

Proceed carefully. As things are now the downloads are separate but can be linked together using device ID and external server. You'll have to make sure your model, package, icons are intuitive and clear on how it works. You'll be using Apple's system as a token delivery system and get the content to the mail app otherwise.
This is one way I would do this:
Lets say my main app is a "Speak them All!" language program that comes with four popular languages and the other apps are for different languages. I would make them as:
Main app, "Speak them All!", runs:
1 - Register device ID with external server.
2 - Get list of languages (and content) for device ID from external server. If updates to language files or new language files, get the updates.
"Flemish" expansion app Runs:
1 - See if device ID is registered with external server.
2A - If Yes in step 1, ask user if they would like to add Flemish to "Speak them All!" and after they give the expected Yes answer, register language "Flemish" with the server and tell user "Done! Flemish has now been added to "Speak them All!". You can now delete this expansion."
2B - If No in step 1, let them know that the expansion should be run after "Speak them All!" has been loaded and ran.

When we run the batch file provided in the example directory the Applet window opens with "List Part Action" under "Analysis" menu (custom action is registered as one of menu item). But when we copy the VueActionSample.jar application to <AutoVue Install Home>/bin and copy the gui file given in the example application to <AutoVue Install Home>/bin/profile folder. when we try to access the document with URL

it doesn't show the custom action "List Part Action" unders "Analysis" menu. Why is AutoVue applet client not picking the custom action? Is this some sort of bug? it works in standalone and not on hosted server. kindly point us if we're missing some steps

Integrating existing Web application with Oracle Portal

Hi,
I have an existing application which is purely written in servlets and which is in use for quite some time. I have a requirement now of moving this application onto the Oracle Portal.
I was just wondering if we have any quick meanse of doing this or we have to re develop from scratch in oracle Portal server(ByDefining page, Page templates..etc).

What do you mean with "moving this application onto the Oracle Portal"?
The best expedite way is use in the portal a LINK that direct your users to the actual app.
Another quick thing you could do is use the IFRAME TAG (only works in IE). This way you can embed your app in Portal (show it in some area in portal)
Then comes the complex things:
- You can activate SSO to your applications ( which is not THAT difficult)
- You can PORTLATIZATE your app, this doesn't means that you have to rewrite all, but still you need to write in a "Oracle Java Way" some thing to get it work..

Integrating existing UI application with BPM workflow

Hello ,
We want to integrate the oracle BPM workflow with existing UI application (developed in JSP) , Question is how do i map human task from BPM process to existing UI JSP pages/modules .
a sample module from application is like below -
Application has two roles - Operator and Approver and UI pages for both roles are already created .
Now from first UI page (using Operator role ) user will submit a request and then it should go and invoke the BPM workflow .I can do this using web service (BPM process exposed as web service ) .
Now next step is where i have a problem - Assigning this request to another role - in BPM workflow i can create a Human task and assign role there but how do map
this HT to my existing UI pages .

Integration of J2EE application with weblogic portal

Hi guys,
I have an application hosted on an iplanet web server. This application uses servlet 2.2, jsp 1.1 of J2EE platform.
And I have a microsoft application running on .NET platform.
I want integrate above 2 applications into webloigc 8.1 portal. What are the different ways in which i can do this and where can i find specific material on this.

Basically I am saying that your options are
1. Screenscraping the apps into portlets
2. Using SSO to login to the apps, but keepin them separate
3. Using Web Services to consume parts of the apps and exposing those as portlets
For our application we do 2 and 3. In many cases we just create portlets that represents views into other j2ee apps. When the users click on something, we launch the j2ee app in a popup browser. The users are already signed on, and taken to a specific detail page, add page or something within the app directly.

How to deal with credentials for external applications using a Java Client/

This is the case. I am integrating an external application with an ADF Application. I have implemented some programmatic ViewObjects that are being filled up by a REST Java Client Wrapper. Everything is working fine but the issue is that the credentials the wrapper is using are hard coded inside the java class. I am thinking to ask for the credentials at the beginning of my taskflow and then store them somewhere and use them then to create my client wrapper (passing them in the constructor).
However, I don't know if my approach is good and I would like you to share your experiences or how to deal with this.

You can use Credential Store Framework to store the credentials securely in the weblogic server instead of hardcoding in the java class.
The Credential Store Framework:
- enables you to manage credentials securely
- provides an API for storage, retrieval, and maintenance of credentials in different back-end repositories

Major Steps -
