Integration of Spotify and BMW Connected Drive

It would be great to be able to manage Spotify through BMW iDrive, either by a dedicated Spotify app on BMW system or at least by a connection of iDrive controls with Spotify app on the iPhone.

Spotify should immediately start a discussion with BMW and "appsolute GmbH" who is assisting BMW with their "BMW Connected" app. There are 2 different approaches: Become integrated with the BMW Connected app itself, so that it will be available as an own choice within that app (the webradio provider Tunein Radio has already done this, and it works perfectly like a "radio alternative")  -----  or create a API for the Spotify App itself, that will be controllable from the car's menu via the Apps menu (The music service provider "Aupeo" has already done this, but it's a bit ackward, because it doesn't allow using the other BMW Connected services (like facebook, twitter, news etc while playing music).... The best would maybe be a combination of the both, because that would allow the user to play "offline tracks", at the same time as being able to use all other BMW Connected services.... :smileylol: Mog is, as mentioned, already running for BMW in USA, so I think Spotify will be the most favourable and BEST choice for the European market :)

  • Search function for BMW Connected Drive

The new Spotify integration with Connected Drive on BMW works really well! EXCEPT that there is no 'SEARCH' tab so I can only view my saved music and pre-selected genres and playlists. This means you can't search for any artist/album/genre while on the go which limits the usefulness of the app compared with pre-connected drive integration.

quote: After a short time, all idrive spotify controls become non-responsive- I can't skip, pause, access my playlists, or get to radio. In fact at times, I can't even tell which lists it's playing from. A strange popup sometimes appears and displays a long error. When this happens Spotify ceases to work entirely. I hope the team is still actively looking at bugs because this integration is very promising!!!
Apparently this is all magically cured by using iOS 8 devices.  I tested with my iPhone 6 (iOS 8.0.2) and everything works as expected.  With my old iPhone 4 (iOS 7.1.1) the controls lock up frequently and calls don't even interrupt the music stream.
I dunno, I realize iOS 8 is the "here and now" but it sure would be nice to get some iOS 7 love since it's still supported by Apple on some of their devices.

  • Can I separate my iPhoto library onto two hard disks, one on board MacBook Pro and one connected drive?

    Help, my HD is full.

Here's one way to do what you want:
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
Now you have two full versions of the Library.
    3. On the Internal library, trash the Events you don't want there
Now you have a full copy of the Library on the External and a smaller subset on the Internal
    Some Notes:
As a general rule: when deleting photos do them in batches of about 100 at a time. iPhoto can baulk at trashing large numbers at one go.
You can choose which Library to open: Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
You can keep the Library on the external updated with new imports using iPhoto Library Manager

  • Difference between using app server connection pooling and using the driver

    Hi all,
How to get connection pooling with out application server and tomcat also?
What is the difference between using app server connection pooling and using the driver supported connection pooling?

maybe the performance of App server pool is better than the JDBC pool,
for you don't know wether the implementation of the JDBC interface is good or bad.

  • How to make Nano NOT appear on Mac desktop as connected drive when I plug in to recharge it? Just want charging, not syncing, and don't want to unmount drive each time.

    I have a 6th generation iPod Nano.
I almost exclusively use it as an FM radio and as a pedometer -- so far I have not loaded any songs onto it for listening, nor do I intend to in the future.
    Here's my problem:
When my Nano runs out of juice, I have to use the charging cord to plug it into to my iMac's USB port to recharge the Nano. However, whenever I do so, two different (unwanted) actions happened:
First, the act of plugging in the iPod auto-launched iTunes, for syncing. I solved this problem by finding the preference check box for launching iTunes when connecting an iPid, and UNchecking the box. That worked, problem solved.
However, the second automatic action is that the iPod appears as a connected drive on the iMac desktop, as any external device with a drive would appear when connected to any Mac. But I have no need for this to be happening -- I don't intend to upload anything to the iPod, nor to sync it, or whatever -- the only reason I ever connect the iPod to the iMac is to RECHARGE the iPod, not to tinker with the contents of what's on it.
The problem is, every time I then want to disconnect the charging cord, I have to manually "unmount" the iPod drive by dragging its desktop icon to the Trash, when then allows the "it is now safe to disconnect your external drive" state to obtain, allowing me to then unplug it without getting a warning message telling me I shouldn't have just disconnected a connected drive without first unmounting it.
This wouldn't be such a bother, except that the 6th generation iPod Nano has a new "feature" which makes it impossible to see how far along the charging is progressing while it is still in the act of charging. Thus, the only way to know if it is has become  fully charged is to unplug it, and look at the battery monitor. While is it still connected and charging, all that displays on the iPod is the "charging now" battery icon, which does not reveal just how the charging is progressing, or if it is fully charged yet. (My iPhone, by way of contrast, displays during charging a battery icon which reveals how far charged it is by that point.)
As a result of this Nano "feature," I often find myself having to connect and disconnect the Nano two or three or more times each time I'm charging it, so I can simply check how far along the charging has gotten, since I want to disconnect it as soon as it has finished charging and get back to using it.
But so far, I have not been able to find any kind of setting or preference which allow me to identify this device as one which I DON'T want to "mount" each time it is plugged in.
All I want to do is just plug in the iPod, and be able to unplug it, without having to to ANY shenanigans on the computer itself. Just plug in = recharging, unplug = not charging any more. Simple.
Question: is there any way to achieve this? Or is it simply not possible, and must I manually unmount the iPod's drive (more than once, usually) each time I plug it in for recharging?

I should also point out that when I connect my iPhone, it DOESN'T appear as a connected drive on the desktop. Not sure how this can be so, since the iPhone also has a drive and also functions as an iPod if I want it to. I must have changed some setting to achieve this non-appearance, but don't remember what I must have done.
    What's the secret?

  • 'other driver and xa connection properties

A connection pool is configured through the admin server with a third party driver (specify other for database type). The driver is only on the classpath

    This submitted without me finishing...
We have configured a connection pool with 'other' type and the jtds driver for sql server 6.5 (net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbcx.JtdsDataSource). The driver is only on the classpath of the managed servers, not the admin server.
In this case, we do not see the XA properties in the advanced options (eg Enable XA Transaction Timeout). I am assuming this is because the admin server does not know if the driver is XA or not.
Is there a way to have weblogic show the XA properties, without placing the driver on the admin server classpath?

  • Mini doesn't always connect  bluetooth and external (USB) drives on boot

I have had a new Intel mini for 4 months now (we also have a PPC G5, which we love). In the last few weeks the mini started to not connect my Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, nor recognize some of my USB peripherals when booting up. When this happens, it also makes a repeated "startup sound - bong!" echo when the start button is pressed. I have two external USB drives, one 500GB Phantom and one 500GB WD MyBook. When the Apple logo appears at boot, I can see the activity lights flashing on the drives as the BIOS interrogates the USB connections, but after the Leopard start up desktop appears, the only drive shown is Macintosh HD, the mouse pointer is at the top left of the display and will not move, nor will the keyboard do anything. I have read every post on this subject and tried all of the resets suggested. Sometimes this works after a few attempts, sometimes it takes 6 or more tries - disconnecting all cables, and turning the computer on again and again. Occasionally the WD MyBook drive appears on the desktop, yet still the Bluetooth is unresponsive and the other drive absent. I am getting frustrated having to disconnect everything and trying to boot this thing up, sometimes for one hour or longer before I can use it properly (all of my work is on the external drives).
There MUST be a firmware update for this by now, because I see that I am not the only one experiencing these problems, and this is obviously some problem with how the BIOS is communicating with the bus.

    Hi amyta pdx-
I'd be careful jumping to conclusions or the troubleshooting process may get clouded. For one thing those WD drives are junk and most people using them eventually have problems.
What happens with everything disconnected from the Mac except a mouse connected to a USB port on the Mac and the monitor connected to the video port only?

  • Will Time Machine back up and external hard drive connected to my TC?

Here is my desired set-up: older Powerbook G4 whose iTunes Music is saved on an external HD (WD MyBook offering USB, FW, and ethernet connections); backup wirelessly to a Time Capsule using Time Machine; connect the external drive to the Time Capsule either using USB or ethernet (whichever is faster); have Time Machine backup everything, ie, the laptop and the external drive connected directly to the Time Capsule.
Right now, the external drive is connected directly to the Powerbook using Firewire and everything is working as desired. I would like to have the external drive networked, however, so that I can enjoy music on the laptop without having it connected to the external drive. Seems like I could connect the external drive to the TC to provide a networked iTunes library, but I also want Time Capsule to back it all up together with my Powerbook.
    Is this possible?
If so, which connection method is best between the external drive and the Time Capsule, USB or ethernet?

No. Time Machine will not backup a network share such as you describe. Sorry.

  • Application to list connected Drives and allow to mount

Does anyone out there know of an app that would put an icon or a drop down menu in the menu bar that, when clicked, would list all of the USB devices that are connected to your mac? Then allow you to click on one of the drives and mount it?
I know that you can go into disk utility and select a drive from the list and instruct to mount it. I am wondering if someone might have written an app that would place it in the menu bar for quick access.
Anyone out there ever see something like that?

No, I am looking for something like the picture below (I tried to draw it as best as I could)

  • G4 MDD and WD SATA Drive Connection

G4 MDD and WD SATA Drive Connection
    My G4: G4 MDD firewire 400 model, Single 1.25 - Dual Boot. Running OS 10.3.9 and 9.2.2
I just ordered parts from OWC, on their way here. Sorry about ALL these questions but I'm new to this.
I purchase a Firmtek Seritek 1S2 controller card and 2 WD SATA Internal Drives. A - WD 640 GB SATA HD "For my Boot Drive", and a - WD 320GB SATA HD that I will use for a Scratch Drive.
    Question 1 :
The Seritek 1S2 is a 2 port "1.5GB" Card. My 2 new Drives are set to "3GB".
Will I have to change the "Jumper Settings" on the Hard Drives for this Card?
Do you know what pins to but the jumper block on?
    Question 2 :
For Power connection I also, purchased 2 - 15 pin to 4 pin power Adapters, so I wouldn't have to put the drives in upside down for better alignment for mounting the screws in the cages.
The WD Drives come with both the 4 pin connection and the 15 pin connection for power. Would using the power Adapters be alright? Is there any difference with power consumption from the HD's to the 4 pin Molex in the G4? Does this setup work alright with my machine's power requirements? And the H.D's power requirements? OR, is it better/safer to just stick with the G4's 4 pin Molex connector and put the drives in upside down?
    Question 3 :
I also purchased 2 - 18" Data cables 90 degree Left Angle, so I won't have a problem closing the door on my G4.
Which left angle end goes where for this? On the HD's or the Card?
I will be putting the 640 GB in the Rear Cage and the 320 GB in the Front Cage.
Each Cage Holds 2 drives each. For better heat protection, should I put the drives in the outer or inner drive carrier slots?
    Question 4 :
I'd figure I would place the 1S2 Card in the Third PCI slot. Does it matter which slot to put the card in?
    Question 5 :
I plan on Cloning my original 80 GB drive to my new 640 GB drive. I would be using Super Duper for this. After that I will be putting my 80 GB dive in a external firewire case I also purchased, to use it as a back up.
I was told I should keep the 80 GB drive in my G4 and Clone the drive to the new drive using Disk Utility that is in my 80 GB drive already. Using Disk Utility to Partition my drives then Format the drives both journeled. Would that work alright? Or do I have to use the Boot CD to do that?
Then I would use Super Duper to clone. Then choose the new cloned drive in system profiler to start up on that drive to see if everything is OK. Then reset the pram, and then I can remove my 80 GB to put in the case for backups. Does this sound like a good procedure to do?
Sorry for all the questions! But, this is the first time I'm doing anything like this. I would really appreciate any help I could get with these questions before I start doing this. Thanks!

Do you mean making 3 Partitions on the 640? 1- OS and Apps, 2 - 50-80 GB Free Space for Swap Files or do you mean Project files, such as Starting a Photoshop or Video File? Is that what you mean? And a third partition to store my other Data files?
With a second drive dedicated to scratch, I would install the OS and all applications on one partition. If the total software requirements are 50GB, I would make a 100-150GB partition. I think larger would be better, so as software and OS needs don't overlap as software is running. The 50-80GB free space is *included with* the OS and applications.
With the remaining 450-500GB, I would leave as one partition for all project files and data to be placed on. If one type of file dominates all other, for instance, photo files, I might consider splitting that remainder for a dedicated photo file volume, with a third partition for the rest.
When deciding on the OS/App's partition size, try to anticipate near future software install. Don't want to run out of room.
For instance, I have a SATA WD Raptor as my boot drive. OS and applications only, with approx 60GB of OS and software, and the rest free space (of the formatted 140GB total of the 150GB drive.
On a second drive, a SATA WD 640GB, I have three partitions- 100GB for data, documents, mail, etc., one 300GB for photos, and one 200GB for music.
A third drive, a SATA 300GB Maxtor, is used for PS scratch, as a target for scans, music file encoding, target for downloads, any file that is "temporary" in nature. When work is done, the files are moved to the respective locations, and the drive is cleared.
I also have a fourth ATA Seagate 120GB drive, that I keep OS 9, 10.3, 10.4 and 10.5 each on a respective partition, with necessary and OS specific applications for each OS. This serves as my troubleshooting/emergency boot volume.
This helps keep me organized, and allows plenty of free space for system operation.
There are lots of different ways to set up ones drives, but I find that my current setup gives me the desired performance and keeps me from getting cluttered.
A final note, with whatever setup you create, have the appropriate sized external drives for backups of all drive volumes. I use firewire and eSATA connected SATA WD 640GB, ATA Seagate 500GB, and an ATA Maxtor 160GB for cloning all my files, systems and app's.

  • ECC and SCM connection

    Hi folks,
i would like to see ECC and SCM scenarios connected by CIF, how ever HU2(ECC) and HU8 (SCM) systems are not interconnected. let us know whom do we need to contact in this regard.
    Thanks in Advance ...

    Hi Amit,
The ES (emphasis on Enterprise Service or Web Service) Workplace Systems are actually setup for customers or consultants to test drive SAP delivered Enterprise Services, so it stands to reason that integration between these systems would be using web services / SAP Enterprise services for the most part.
Trying to contact someone to configure CIF / ALE integration between HU2 and HU8 is not going to work for you.

  • Difference between connection pooling and simple connection

Anybody please tell me what is the Difference between connection pooling and simple connection and also where we define connection pooling and how.
    Thanks
    Please reply soon
    amitindia

Creating and closing connection to the database is a relatively slow process. Equally connections use database resources so you can't just open as many as you want.
A connection pool maintains a number of open connections throughout the lifetime of the application. Instead of opening and closing the connections your application just "borrows" them from the pool when they're needed.
If the pool runs out of connections it will usually create new ones as needed until you reach some predefined upper limit.
A good connection pool will also manage connections which have failed for any reason, and report code which fails to return connections to the pool (ie connection leaks).
The number of connections created at startup is referred to as the "low water mark" and the maximum number that the pool will allow to be opened at any given time is the "high water mark". If no connections are available client code will generally block until one is released.
If by "defined" you mean where can you get a working implementation then your database or application server vendor is likely to provide one. Also the Apache Jakarta Commons includes [url http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/dbcp/]an implementation which you can use with any JDBC driver.
